Lets test the one giving the drug test, and (see message)

Lets make people who need to buy groceries take drug tests. Want to go to McDonalds? Hey need to take a drug test first. Need to renew your car registration - take a drug test. Want to go to a movie, better take a drug test. When will the insanity stop.

Can we drug-test the Senators too?
I don't think connecting unemployment benefits to drug-testing is a good idea. In fact, I don't think drug testing should be random at all. I think it should be reserved for cases that are on a need-to-know basis. And no, I have never used drugs, never tried them. It's a matter of civil liberties and constitutional rights against invasions of our privacy. Next thing you know, they'll be testing us for lipid levels after we're seen frequenting a house of trans-fats.

And while we're on the topic, decriminalizing drugs would go a long way toward reducing drug-related crimes. Nothing is perfect in this discussion though because drugs really are evil. It just becomes a matter of damage control.
See, that's was exactly my initial response to the negative drug test. SM

I felt like relief that my son, even when faced with the temptation, resisted the urge to smoke pot with his friends.  I actually congratulated my son and told him how proud I was that he hadn't been taking any drugs or smoking pot.  But then I wondered if he should be punished for having a bong in his pack.  He obviously didn't use it, but why did he have it?

Now I think I may lift the grounding, but set some rules about him avoiding being around the 23-year-old guy and basically having him check in with me routinely when he is out and as long as he follows the rules, then I'll trust him.

Geez, I don't think I'm going to survive the teenage years and they've only just begun!  I can only hope that when my 7yo daughter reaches her teens, she will go a little easier on me!

Thanks everyone for listening and offering your advice.

I don't know what WASl test is but if it is anything like the TAKS test in Texas - then more powe
I hate standardized testing. I hate the way it is pushed and it is the only thing teachers 'preach' on the whole school year. Math and Reading is the big ones here until 5th grade and then science gets added in. Where is history? Where is grammar (no this is not included in the reading test)? Forget these stupid state standardized testing and get back to what is important.... an education!
Test Message
This is my test message.
Ask before you test..
Just ask before you test if they are willing to pay you X amount if you test well. If they say no, don't bother testing. Good luck!
test
xxxx
They don't usually test to put them in certain classes. sm
Sometimes in high school it is a matter of making a schedule work and classes work around students to make a full class, etc. So that may or may not be why she was put in this class. I believe too much is expected out of kids these days and I say let her out of the class or at the least talk to the counselor about her issues. I believe in Physics class it helps a lot to have the other classes first. Otherwise, she would be really lost and it sounds like she might be.
smell test
I can tell when the teacher has hugged my kid because she smells like the perfume the teacher wears.

A school day is long. Better the teacher is kind to your child than mean (and there are both kinds of teachers.)
pregancy test then I was in
My MIL thought I was ridiculous wearing maternitiy clothes at 7 weeks, but I was not going to squeeze into my clothes out of vanity. I bloated, barfed and gained 50 pounds, and afterwards lost all the weight and fit into my old clothes just fine. Enjoy being pregnant. Take a nap and eat ice cream!
I read it is an excellent test, but
I also heard it really smarts.
I was not aware this was a test question. SM
I answered honestly. I am sorry it was not to your liking. If you want me to agree with you, okay, your ex is nuts and call the police on him. Whatever.

Just remember one thing, troubled people tend to gravatate toward each other in life. Think about it.
Did they do an MRI of her adrenals yet? Test her for Lyme? Our kid
s
We should use them as test subjects for medication and
I guarantee you start doing some tough punishment and there would be less of that crap going on.
I think they are pretty worthless and not really an IQ test because sm
if you have ever had a Wechsler, you know that those kinds of questions don't play into it. They are mind teasers and trick questions, not something that a Wechsler uses. A Wechsler is several hours long and goes through your math, language, spacial relations and problem solving skills, and it is timed. Part of IQ is how fast you can solve complex problems.

I have taken a Wechsler and while I won't quote you a number, I will say the person who gave it as part of a psychological evaluation, told me he would diagnose me as way too smart for my own good. He stated that I probably didn't suffer fools gladly because I view most of the world as fools. I only fall at the 99.6 percentile on the Bell curve. No, I don't suffer fools gladly, but I try to be nice while others catch up.
They want to make sure that the baby they test for paternity is
actually Anna Nicole's baby and not another baby that is brought and tested for paternity. If someone were to "switch" babies for paternity tetsing only, then Larry Birkhead would be shown as "not the father," so they want to make sure that the baby tested is actualyl Anna Nicole's and that is why they need her DNA.
Criteron-Referenced Comptency Test....sm
and while theoretically kids that do not pass it in the 3rd, 5th and 8th grades will not be passed, in reality very few are truly held back. That's because the schools get "waivers" for those that fail for various reasons, send them to summer school or any reason they can find to pass them anyway.
Schools and the CRCT test inquiry...sm

Out of curiosity here.... in the area you live in, do your schools basically become just a babysitting facility after the CRCTs are administered until the last day of school?  I've been through CRCT testing with my children now for 5 years and the minute they finish those tests, from that day on until the last day of school they're watching movies, spending more play time, etc. at school & very little actual school work.  It's like the schools are busy teaching the CRCT criteria and once the testing is completed they don't do diddly squat for the last month of school.

What about in your area?

Update on kids' hepatitis test
Had a great vacation. Never crossed my mind the whole week. I took my kids in to the doctor on Monday afternoon and got the test and of course, still do not have the results. It is driving me crazy. I keep doing all these reports on patients with hep B and hep C and my heart just sinks and I feel sick at my stomach! I called the office yesterday and today and still no results back from the lab. On Monday, the doctor did say my daughter would probably be sick by now (will be 8 on Monday), but he is a pediatrician and I know that is not exactly right. My husband has pretty major anxiety issues and that made him feel so much better to hear the doctor say that, so I have just kept my mouth shut about how worried I am and talked to my best friend about it. I did one report and the man was 40 yo and had a remote hx of IV drug use 11 years ago and the only way they found it was through routine lab tests, no symptoms, no signs, not even any past medical history, so I know it still could be that there are just no signs yet. I am trying to stay positive though! I know God gave us these babies for a reason. Just hope the nurse calls me tomorrow with good news!
...another test, but again, I forget what the smell is supposed
s
That is a good idea--take it for a test drive. ;-) nm

Does it matter what time of day you take a pregnancy test??/

i've read that morning time is the best, but does it really matter?  i'm 37, had a tubal after my second pregnancy six years ago.  i'm a week and a half late.  i've never been this late before.  i figured i'd start with taking a home pregnancy test first.  i'm anxious to take it and don't want to wait until tomorrow, but heard morning time was the best time.

thanks

Have you see a cardiologist? A tilt table test should
My daughter has this and has had a pacemaker since age 15.

Have the spells been occurring more frequently? Please consider seeing a cardiologist as a first step, at least. Good luck to you.
But doesn't the FDA extensively test drugs before marketing? nm

The courts will now get their DNA test to confirm paternity and whoever the father
really is will be awarded custody. However, given the nature of this case, I am sure the Division of Family Services will be involved no matter what.

My kids only act out like that if they are sick - get him a strep test! Has he said his stomach hurt
My kids act terrible when they are sick - many times they have gotten in trouble and then later I find out they are sick. Both of them have had strep several times with NO SORE THROAT, NO FEVER, just stomach pain.
12-year old girl forced to take pregnancy test due to school rumor

NEVADA CITY, Calif. -- A 12-year-old girl was forced to take a pregnancy test at school in Nevada City, a lawsuit filed in Nevada County Superior Court alleges.

The Pacific Justice Institute, which is representing the girl, said in a news release that Steve Davis, a counselor at Seven Hills Middle School, pulled the girl out of class.

KCRA 3 has decided not to name the girl out of protection for her privacy.

Davis heard rumors that she was pregnant and wanted to know if it was true, the release said.

Though she denied it and told Davis a classmate had spread rumors about her in the past, the counselor got a pregnancy test from the school nurse and told the 12-year-old to give a urine sample, the Pacific Justice Institute said.

The pregnancy test was negative.

According to the news release, the girl was embarrassed and humiliated, and her parents were angry when they found out.

They worked with the Pacific Justice Institute to get an apology from the Nevada City School District, but didn't receive one.

The lawsuit, filed Oct. 29, 2008, seeks damages for violation of the girl's right to privacy and emotional distress.

"There is no merit in the claim," Superintendent Roger Steel said. He directed further questions to the district's attorney.

Reached at home Monday night, Davis said he had no comment on the lawsuit.

French toast using texas test bar-b-que bread. Yummy. Potato casserole is sm
the best, too!
southern style potatoes frozen (ore-ida)
1 can cream of chicken soap
8 ounces sour cream
1 stick butter
1 package mild cheddar cheest
mix all ingredients and bake for 45 minutes

Then if you want to add a meat such as ham or bacon you can do that.
the underlying read-between-the-lines message of the insurance lobbyist's message was (sm)
to, yes, appeal the denied claim.  However, she lobbies for the insurance companies.  She comes across sounding like she's on the patient's side but in reality she is on the side of the insurance company.  The insurance company gets to deny whatever claims they want right off the bat.  That leaves the SICK patient (who needs the coverage NOW when they are sick) to have to go through the appeals process.  That could take quite a while.  Imagine a cancer patient being denied some form of treatment that is going to help them.  They now have to go through the appeals process (or pay out of pocket) in order for that treatment to be covered.  In the MEANTIME their cancer is progressing.  From the point of view of the insurance company, if they drag it out long enough they don't have to pay for it at all.  That same insurance lobbyist was on 20/20 a little while back and basically came right out and said that the insurance companies COULDN'T AFFORD to pay for coverage for sick people.  She's not on the patient's side.
Well, lets see, I was born in
1943 so I think probably around before most on these posts and lived through a myriad of history and information. What I said was if Merck did not make the profits, another drug company would. That is all. Millions, trillions made all the time on drugs. I am sure all pharmaceutical companies lobby for their drugs. If not 1 drug company, just will be another. I have no children that would require this and I do not live in Texas but if they are going to be mandatory in Texas, probably coming your way before long.
Lets see if this is as long as I think it is - sm
3rd grade - Eddie Milton (my first crush)

9th grade - Bryan Rowden ( 9 months)

10th grade - Bill Rossiter (3 months)-- 2 years old and had a car-- parents did not like that!

11th grade - Dan Machonis (my first time in "love" - 3 months)

Dan Nichols (6 months)

12th grade I played the field a bit - Brad Feldman - 2 weeks; Pat Hurley 1-week; Mike Pastore (my 2nd "love")- 2.5 months (found out he had a kid and couldn't deal with me and the other girl--first time I was not upset about break up though as he took the girl to court and got full custody of his 9-month old daughter and took care of her after that, I admired him for doing that.

After graduation -
Bill Schatzman 2.5 months (summer before college)
Denis Sweeney - 2 years (first and second year of college)

Took a break from guys the rest of college-2 years-and concentrated on grades.

After college:
Bill ___ (forget) (2 months)
Chris Nicholson (3 months)
Ed Harvey - 5 years
Jerry Nicolini - 2 years

then Jim, my DH now of 11 years.
--- what is weird is in my HS years I broke up with most of the guys, but after that just about every guy I went out with cheated and hence the break-up. Oh well.
Ok, lets take a poll, how many out there
EVER saw any evidence prior to today of her shaking, trembling, picking at bugs in the air, whatever -NEVER. Let her get some medical help through the court system.
and lets not forget
Beauty is as beauty does.
You could always lets her knock it over once - sm
ours did that when she was about 9 months old, now never messes with it. She likes to lie under the tree but does not mess with a thing. But we do have a cat that is more like a dog though, sleeps at my feet in bed, only scratches on her scratching post, comes over when she wants to be petted or held, is just a good cat. Her only real flaw is her puking, she pukes at least once a week, usually on the carpet. If she could contain it to the tile floors I would care less but she has a nasty habit of doing it anywhere and usually on the carpet. I do give her the hairball stuff (which I have to sneak and just put it on her paw (top side) so she has to lick it off) which helps a lot with that, still aggravating. It is funny to see her laying under the tree, usually behind the nativity we have, hovering over it like a big sphinx.
Lets just say I am well read
I did not list all that I read, just some. I am older female, no cooking here, no children around to take spots out of clothing, know how to keep my husband satisfied so no need to read that. You would be so lucky to have my life, don’t be a hater as my daughter says.
Lets all get together and weep for this woman
You might have heard about the mother who had her young child write an essay to win Hanna Montana tickets- wrote that her father died this year in the service and the scam was found out. Now the mother that did this deed is on complaining that she has had to move from her apartment, cannot use her Mytube site, threats against her, etc., etc. Oh my heart just bleeds..... NOT.
Well lets see, I have worked for this same place now
for 18 years, the last 5 for a company and what raise?? I thought we just typed faster.
lets hear it for the boy -Survey

Okay, Christmas is next week.  Our guys....they burp, they change the channels on the TV faster than we can figure out what is on, and other too numerous to count obnoxious guy behaviors, but what is good about them?  What do we love about them?

As for me...in my darkest hour, he was my friend.

Merry Christmas!

that is the scary thing - lets face it -
I have lived well over half my life and reading the obituaries (I have no idea why I do this) I see younger and younger people - 50s, early 60s - dying all the time.  What my daughter apparently doesn't realize is that I might not have 10 years left - actually she should - a 52-year-old woman that worked with her father-in-law recently collapsed at work - died later at hospital of AAA - very little symptoms.
Yeah, she lets pans sit overnight from cooking
sandwiches or eggs and then uses them the next morning to cook the same or she will just wipe them out with a paper towel and call them clean...no way! When she lived with us, I would have to get to them before she had a chance to use them the next morning on the kids before I got up!
But, lets bottom line this, being as married to the most powerful man in the US
I let her slide in her clothes, shoes, etc. She has a tall brother, therefore maybe her father tall, don’t know about her mother. She carries a lot of clout, no matter how she dresses, wears, her height, and on and on. Don’t hate on the First Lady.
lets pray he gets the maximum time; piece of crap that he is.

He has been drug tested....
for his job. I don't think that drugs or alcohol are involved.  We have considered it, but I just don't think that it the problem.  I certainly would never let him drive with my son if I was unsure.  I just don't know what it could be.  It would take a book to write down all of his issues.  The sad part is that his father dismisses it all because he does well in school and he is premed, but he just lacks any sort of personal character.  Being smart does not make you a good person and he is just not a good person.  I am still so sick to my stomach about this.  I feel like I am a bad person, having mothered this kid for 13 years and now I am just ready to wash my hands of him.  I am dead serious about that and it makes me ill.  I pray to God that I don't ever have these feelings about my son.
drug store
loved the fountain drinks, miss the five and dimes like Woolworth's.
With their drug war going on & innocent
tourists getting caught up in the middle, not to mention how dangerous it can be even without a drug war going on... is it REALLY worth the risk? We have plenty of beautiful beaches right here in the U.S., and why not spend your tourism money to help out our own ailing economy. It is much better to be safe than sorry. JMO...
This drug testing is going too far - sm
I don't do drugs and I do know that there is a huge drug problem in America but turning around and testing for drugs for every single thing is going a bit far. Not everyone who is unemployed does drugs. In fact I can bet the people who are unemployed are probably using the money for basic necessities of daily living (food, shelter, electricity).

My dad (72 years old) is collecting unemployment and if he had to take a drug test to get his check that would be horrible. He's the most honest decent human being I know of.

A lot of people who collect unemployment don't do it because they want to, they do it because they have to. A lot of them are going through depression and then to turn around and have to take a drug test like they are criminals?...well why not treat them like crap more and add to the depression they are already going through.

Think this is just another way for government to take control and it is not a good idea. Usually the people who are for others being tested are church goers who think they are "holier than thou".

Bad idea.

I had to go get drug tested today for my - sm
bus substitute driver job; they provided the car for us to go the clinic. Apparently they normally take the white car, but today we took the red car because the white one was being held as they found drugs in it last week. Kind of funny as it is a county car used only by the school employees; and mainly to go to drug tests. How un-smart is that? They still don't know who is the guilty party as the car had more than normal traffic in it last week. Guess they will figure it out though, I bet everyone that has been in that car for the last 2 weeks is getting drug tested; if you test positive you are immediately fired.
Try the company that makes the drug.
We got on a plan for my son through the company and he gets his meds free (Concerta) for at least the next year.
The 100K came way after the drug charges
The arrest came say 15 or 20 years before the 100K and the way they spend their money that $100K probably not around too long.
Has anyone ever been on Clomid - or any other fertility drug? sm
DH and I are having fertility issues and the doc has put me on Clomid but I have yet to get a positive ovulation stick (the kind you pee on), and I am getting frustrated.  Has anyone ever been on this?
