when we were young we'd think we'd be rich one day and it took us a while to catch on!

MADE OUT LIKE A BANDIT, STOLE EVERYONE'S MONEY, I AM RICH, RICH, RICH
Not. Tired of trying to explain to people who apparently do not understand the English language.
Poor little rich girl!
With all Paris' money - can't she get a chauffeur to take her partying?? HELLO?? She deserves much more than she's getting!
I am rich in compassion but poor in dollars and am
p
Anything really rich with A LOT of
chocolate! Funnt, didn't even like choclate as a kid, love it now!
RICH!!!!
HA!
why could not have I been born rich
instead of goodlooking?
only if he is rich.......but really I would not date - sm
a guy more than a few years younger. I did date a few guys younger 2-5 years which I realized later was a big mistake (in my 20s). My DH is about 7 years older and works out well.
rich and famous
I have heard a lot lately about how these rich and famous movie stars really hate their "crazed" fans and the paparrazi.  I make mental notes of each and every one so that if I should ever come across them in public, I can pretend I don't see them.  I also make a note in my head of the people who are nice to their fans, just in case...
I want some dark, really rich
coffee and I do not know what to buy to get this taste. I have used Folgers, Maxwell House and others and never can duplicate what I drink at other places. As far as the Starbuck's I usuallly buy when out and around and just to give me a perk up. I can take or leave. What kind of coffee is really rich and good tasting, anyone?
I think the rich are just whining
I see no slump at all in my neighborhood. No one is cutting back on anything. I think the poor have been poor for so long, the pain has trickled up to the rich at last! What a bunch of babies. They might have to eat bologna instead of sushi.
I went with more rich colors in my home
I am not into the lighter colors. I have the white woodwork with white plantation shutters but my rooms are anywhere from cobalt blue (kitchen) to an eggplant in the dining room. Just got new slate in my bathroom with the golds, blues and the like and wondering if I should paint the walls there (this is a fairly new home for me, so doing bit by bit as far as decorating). I have a white bedroom but that may change also (just had new dark blue carpeting put in that room). I always leave my ceilings white. I love my workroom (which used to be a child's bedroom) because I had the room painted a dark colonial blue and it is heaven to work where I love the color so much but then again for once I love all the colors in my home. It was not always like this and I have about 3 gallons of paint in the garage that I tried and just did not like, returned and got another color that I did like. So far 5 rooms painted and counting.
I was not born rich but over the years
I have had untold wealth given to me, quite a bit. I think where this comes from is the fact that I always and I mean always think about the underdog. I give from my heart to things whenever I can, when I hear a story that I feel I should try to give, animals, people in distress, you name it and if the story says I should try to help a particular cause, I do. I really have tried to impress upon my children and grandchildren IF you give from the heart, it so much comes back to you. I have not run out of money giving, in fact just the opposite, had wealth literally fall in my hands and I think this is why. What a person needs to understand is I give because I really want to, not because I have to and I never look for a return but there always is. I cannot count the times when giving and here money comes back. This is how I try to live my life.
okay, that should be rich. I guess I'll never be it

A tough situation? She's rich.
thinks of this young man now?  Ohhhh, maybe it's okay because she's supposedly doing the right thing.  Pulleezzee!!!!  God bless her!!!
I beg to differ; NOT just the *rich and famous*..sm
this problem crosses every socioeconomical level.........it's not just involving the rich and famous.........
Oh, he still could be married. Never too rich or too thin! NM

It's the theme song of the rich and famous.

Kids have rich fantasy lives - sm
There is something of an art in preserving the kids' fantasies and pretend worlds and at the same time teach them about the real world. The poster mtmomof2 put it especially eloquently when she said she grew to understand the impossibility of Santa and it thus came as no shock to her. That was the way it was with me. As on of four kids, each of us kept up the pretense for the younger ones.
My own kids had even more proof - an accidental double exposure of our Christmas decorated living room with our son and a Santa on a float in a parade, which made it look like he was standing right behind our son. They are now 19 and 17, and plan on using that picture for their kids.
I never lied. I never said "Santa is real." There are lots of ways of perpetuating the fantasy without lying. My favorite was answering a question with a question - What do YOU think?, etc. My kids were quite sheltered and actually believed a long time - about age 10 or so, but never said they felt lied to or deceived. I think it's actually harmful to deprive kids of that kind of magic that only kids can feel while they're innocent and everything is possible. The realities of life will some soon enough!
again, weak comparison; we are educated in BCP now, she is famous and rich

Probably the same rich & snooty folks who buy $800 Gucci and Prada sm
bags, Jimmie Choo and Manolo Blahnik shoes for $1000 a pair. I heard that Tiffany's is now offering a "plain paper bag" instead of their ritzy printed bag with Tiffany printed on it, b/c the rich are feeling guilty about continuing to buy this overpriced crap while the rest of the country goes down the tubes.
Not rich or snooty either, just love good quality
items and buy them when I want. Who wants to shop at the local mall and get something that everyone else wears and see it all over town? Just like jewelry; I don't wear the average items you see advertised every holiday season that everyone wears and every jewelry store sells. My guy gets my things made at a one of kind store, where at least I know I'm probably the only one who has it.
Learned to hate snobby rich kids.

Going to my aunt & uncle's house as usual
My husband, my parents, and I all drive down to my aunt and uncle's house every year. We usually bring something like pumpkin and/or apple pie.
House poor
I would not buy this home, and I'm not sure the bank would allow you to buy it anyway at your current incomes. Banks used to use the 28/36 formula (no more than 28% of income for house payment and 36% total for car loans, credit cards, etc.). Nowadays, they've relaxed those guidelines which could explain the skyrocketing foreclosure rate right now. As someone else posted below, babies and children in general cost lots of money, even for their most basic needs. I would try to find a smaller, older home instead.
My poor hubby, I'M the snorer in our house.
He says I'm not loud, but if I'm flat on my back, I always snore. I never did it before I gained the weight I gained over the last couple of years, so I'm hoping if I can shed some pounds, the snoring will stop.
With the prices of homes and property taxes today, just about everyone is house poor.
It's so sad when you can't go out to dinner often, buy nice expensive things for yourself *just because*, go on lots of trips, go to sports things, see shows/concerts, etc., all because you own a house. I'd truly rather rent and ENJOY my life! :)
My uncle did that, his daughter
who was 8 told him not to, but he didn't believe her.
How wonderful to know someone like your step-uncle!
Have a great weekend with your family!
Does he like Uncle John's sausage? sm
I can't remember where you said y'all were now, but that is definitely a local thing. Their plant is in Brandon. Anyway, they are also available online but the shipping is very expensive. They are the ones that make the mojo sausage (and other fresh sausage) and sell it to Sweetbay/Kash N Karry stores.
Love the Italian therapy! My dad and uncle were...
raised that way...no coddling or worrying about hurting the little one's feelings. My grandmother would have made a fortune from her therapeutic thwaps!
This is truly sickening. I had an uncle who lived with his mother sm
until his 50s, lived off of her, stole from her, slept in the same bedroom. They are both gone now, but the whole family was disgusted by this and him. She was definitely an enabler. Would borrow money so she could "help him out." He attended a methadone clinic monthly and she paid for it. No one could tell her anything, either.
He died young. Committed suicide.
I had a great uncle who hated the custom of "viewings"
And you know, so many people will say things like, "He looks good/peaceful/asleep," etc. My uncle always used to say, "Now how can he look good, he's dead!" Well, my dear uncle passed away at the age of 96. He died peacefully in his sleep. He was independent and active all of his life. The day he died, he had been working in his garden, doing house repairs, and cooking dinner for himself and his wife. Business as usual, except he went to bed that evening and quietly passed away. Wouldn't we all like to finish out 96 years like that! There was a closed casket at the viewing, and his wife told us, "Well, you know how Joe felt. He didn't want people filing by saying 'He looks good.' But the thing is, he actually looks great!" My aunt was a little sad that she didn't have an open-casket viewing, but it was Uncle Joe's wish for a closed casket.
My uncle told me each teat on a cow gave different kinds of milk (sm)
One for whole, one for 2%, one for chocolate, and one for buttermilk. That was when I was *real* little; I don't think I bought that one very long.

He also told me that the mountain people had to have "hill cows" which had legs shorter one side than the other so they could stand on the hills without falling over. (If you've ever seen cows standing on a steep hill in the mountains, you'll understand why I believed that for a while...)

LOL.
My uncle's sister worked as Paul Anka's assistant
and got us free tickets to a show in Vegas :)
Need help with ideas for remodeling house and decorating. We bought a house

in fair condition about 10 years ago, got into some medical problems, and have just now paid off the mortgage.  Hubby and I agreed we would do nothing to the house for remodeling because we wanted to pay it off first, then the medical bills.  I need to know of some websites/magazines/books to start researching for how to go about this.  These will be major repairs - roof, septic, basement, windows, pretty much everything except wiring.  Where do we start?  Maybe hire a general contractor just to do an evaluation and give us recommendations?  Hubby is a handyman but cant seem to get a handle on where to begin.  We would like to do as much of the work ourselves as possible - labor of love and all that...

Thanks for any and all kind suggestions!

Poor you!
Right now I'm trying to transcribe for ESLs who dictate that way, and add whole sentences in prelude to something that actually means something. Stop with all the filler guys!
Oh, poor guy. sm

Sorry I referred to him as female before.  (I've had too much coffee today - I seem to have energy, but no focus.)  It is stressful to try to watch them all the time and to be worrying about them all the time.  I sure hope he'll be okay.

I actually meant to give you this website in my other post (like I said, no focus!)  It seems to cover pretty much everything about canine epilepsy, and I really like the advice way down near the bottom "Living With An Epileptic Pet."   http://www.canine-epilepsy.net/basics/basics_main.html

I think there are e-mail lists for people with epileptic pets too, which are probably very supportive and helpful.

I wish you both well.  Please let us know how he's doing.

poor pup!

Poor cat
I'd rather have Scooter Libby living in my neighborhood than these 2 girls or you, all 3 who apparently cannot see where the problem lies.
Oh no! Poor you! :-(

When I lost a filling NOTHING took the pain away and I loaded up on as much Tylenol as was safe.  The best thing I found was liquid Anbesol, the strongest strength they make, soaked on a piece of cotton gauze...the kind with like a webbing around it, put right over the tooth.  I also remember staying plastered pretty much the whole time with whiskey high balls.

I hope you feel better soon!  Nothing worse than dental pain, in my opinion.

Poor Puppy--sm
Wow. I feel so bad for the puppy (I call all doggies puppies no matter what size or age they are). I did not realize that pets could get or have SLE. I wish you the best for finding something to control symptoms. give puppy a pet for me too.
Poor baby!
I hope you can figure out what's going on with her.
Thank you for caring for that poor dog. sm
She must have been neglected for a long time.

With her coughing up mucus, she probably has pneumonia and needs antibiotics. She also needs dental work.

You might want to feed her some ground beef and rice. You should boil the beef, not fry it (no seasonings)and add it to cooked rice that has no seasonings. This is what my vet prescribed when one of my dogs was sick. It should be easy for her to eat this. But please get her to a vet ASAP.

She probably has some kind of allergy that is causing her to chew herself. Or she might be doing that because her teeth hurt her.

Poor fella...
I would have said, "Honey, I have a 15 minute break at 8, let me "talk" with you then." Throw the poor guy a bone! lol
Poor thing...
Try the packaged oatmeal bath specifically for itchy rashes. I did this with my little one, who is now 18, and it really seemed to help with the itching. You should be able to find it at the pharmacy or ask your pharmacist. Maybe even a little Benadryl will help her rest and keep her from itching as well.

Wishing her a speedy recovery and prayers!
Poor animals!
A ''crate'' is just a nice term for a cage. How sad to cage a dog or cat.
Poor thing is very odd looking...
an excellent singer though!
Poor kid.... I felt bad for him
I agree that he surely didn't measure up vocally to the others. He seems like a nice kid, though, and even most adults couldn't take being talked about the way he has been. I really felt for him up there. I hope he has a lot of fun when they're on tour. I think he's going to be getting the biggest reaction from the crowds.
Oh, poor hubby. Now he has to do all the
driving of kids, cooking, laundry, vacuuming, etc. until your ankle heals. 'Cause you know, you're supposed to elevate your foot so it can heal.

No need to get mad - just apologize to him when you have to ask him to do all that stuff, LOL.

He'll never do that again.
:oD
You poor dear. I know exactly what you are saying.
I have 4 children with my husband. I don't even like leaving them at home with him. It's not that he is abusive but I just feel like I should be there in case he starts his antics with them. They are pretty tough though. Even at their early ages they have him figured out and sometimes I think they cope with him better than I do. They have this wonderful ability to mentally block him out that I wish I had sometimes. They just act like he isn't even in the room. I guess God takes care of them b/c they are the innocent victims.
Ha! I might suggest that to the poor
folks who still work there. This woman would probably put them on KP duty, though.
