Does Anyone Know of A Good Medical Spell Checker For Word?
Hello,

I am new to these boards and I am curious If anyone knows of a good medical spell check for Word? TIA :)
See post below, about investigating and presenting options, plus web site for spell checkers. NM
see post below, about investigating and presenting options, plus web site for spell checkers.

A somewhat better option, investigating and presenting options, that throwing up one's hands and saying, oh well. Of course they should have a spell checker. the idea about checking if Steadman's will work, even if Word is incompatible, is a good one. Also, the post below adds a reference to a web site that has spell checking programs.

Of course I sound strong. I don't believe in being treated like little girls. We deserve software, just like the programmers do.
I used to have a free little toolbar that I downloaded and

there was also a website where you could sort the feedback of ebay users.  I deleted it because I'm just not into ebay as much as I used to be.  However, if you check Google or Download.com, you ought to be able to find something.  GutCheck is one of them, but I've never used it.

I typed the following into Google to find GutCheck.

ebay sort negative feedback

And "ebay feedback" without quotes at download.com to find BayCheck.

HELP!! How do add a new dictionary to shorthand. I just downloaded it and want to use the free one
they have but I am doing something wrong!!!
Whoa - I mistakenly downloaded a free antivirus
and nearly ruined my PC because it downloaded threatening messages constantly, constantly pestering me to download the 2009 version for a fee. I did not have a virus, it was just a fake.

It took me months to get rid of the program and had to keep researching to find out how to get the files out completely.

Just a heads up - make sure you read it before downloading.

Free Internet Spell Check
I have used ieSpell for over a year now for spell checking my posts (as I need it-lol!). I thought others might be interested in this free program as well and so I thought I would share it with you all. :) (I am actually just now downloading it to my new laptop.)
you are exactly right - an MT should spell correctly in everything she writes, medical or not

Your Favorite Medical Spell-Checker?
Does anybody have any suggestions for which medical spell-checker to buy for a Word-based platform? Any suggestions on where to find one cheap that is still thorough? Thanks!
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced medical spell checker?
I've seen some advertised and the prices vary, and I'm wondering which ones are good. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
I use Sylvan software's medical spell checker and ...am
also their Shortcut word expander. I love both of them. Unfortunately, the spellchecker does not work in DocQscribe, which I work in now. I wish I could get it to because I hate the DocQScribe spellchecker.
Also need good medical spell checker, new system here

Are there any free medical spellcheckers? nm

Don't ya know, an MT should be able to spell every word - sm
imaginable and never, ever make a mistake, even when it does not pertain to your job of medical transcription. Gee Whiz, some people!!!!
More specifically, free medical spellchecker, sorry about that..

Are you giving free medical advice?
You can stop for six months and see how you feel. There is a place for antidepressants. Some emotional pain is simply to painful to experience and function effectively on a daily basis. My dad was severely depressed in 1987. If SSRIs were available then, I wonder if perhaps he would having gotten out of his despair long enough to not make the decisions that finally ended up taking his life.

Get a second opinion possibly.
Do a Google search for free medical dictionary NM

Can someone tell me how to remove a word from spell check?

I'm using ExText (Word based?), ran spell check, and accidentally clicked on 'Add' (adding a misspelled word) when I meant to click on 'Change' (to change it to the correctly spelled word).  I know, I know, I shouldn't be using the mouse, I should be using the Keystrokes anyway, right?.  LOL

But now that I have a misspelled word in spell check, how do I remove it?  Does anyone know?  TIA!

Word 2007 Spell Checker

Is anyone having a problem with Word 2007 spell checker?  Somtimes it underlines a misspelled word and sometimes it doesn't.  I sent some notes in with quite of few misspelled words.  It is so aggravating.  I have checked all my settings, and it is set up to show misspelled words and grammar mistakes.  I just don't understand why it works one minute but then doesn't work the next.

Can anyone recommend Spell Checker for Word 2003?

Need help on setting up Word expanders and spell check

Hi All,

I will be starting a new job soon, and it looks like I will be typing in my own computer's Word program.  I managed to download my old Expander entries from my old job into Notepad, so I now have a list of my expansions.  I am wondering if anyone has any good tips on doing something  with the Notepad entries to get them into AutoCorrect in Word, or do I have to just go through the whole list manually and make new entries into Word AutoCorrect to use for my new expander?

I am also open to any and all suggestions to the Word spellchecker since it does not know LOTS of medical terms and drugs.  Just start entering them manually or buy a medical spellchecker that interphases with Word? I saw some listed when I Googled it, but they seem awful expensive.  100$ and more.  Any suggestions?

THanks!

Asking you to spell a word correctly after 10 years is being nitpicky? Shame on them..

Spellex has a Medical/Pharmaceutical Spell Checker called Spellex-Anywhere
Spellex has a Medical/Pharmaceutical Spell Checker. The program is called Spellex-Anywhere they have a free trial on there website so you can try if before you buy. I hope this helps :).

I try to remind myself that the checkers are
working on a tight time schedule. The classifieds are a horror, though. What irritates me more is when they do a medical article without delving deeply enough into the subject. Either they praise some new thing that's worthless (like the heel bone density test) or they give information that's about 20 years outdated. What a waste of space.
How about the different virus checkers that

has anyone ever used open office to download word so a test can be taken?  I rent a computer from my company and I know I probably should not do this.  My question is would they know if this is being done?  Thank you.

I am looking for the rules from the original PRD+ Taylor Medical Word list.  If anyone has it, please let me know, I would like a copy.  I really need the original document if someone has it.  Thank you so much!
I have medical students spelling every third word, such as N-O-S-E, sometimes twice.
This is how they dictate. The patient's eyes, that is E-Y-E-S, eyes are round, R-O-U-N-D, reactive, and equal, -E-Q-A-U-, I mean E-Q-U-A-L to light. Nose, that is -N-O-S-E, nose, is patent, etc. Funny that these are the ones that usually misspell their names.
Must be a highly technical medical word as

If working in Word, autotext/correct can be used for free, but (smsg)
if you need a separate expander, then I recommend Shorthand.  I think their cost is reasonable, and it is user friendly.  I've used it for years, and it has worked in numerous different platforms, or if not directly compatible, I could convert my list either way fairly easily.  It, too, has a free demo period for 30 days.  Aside from Word's own autotext/correct function which is limited in its compatibility to a degree, you aren't going to find a good free one.

Medical Transcriptionist's Guide to Microsoft Word book

i have word 2000 free standing as well with no problems. email support, they will help you shortly.
you shouldn't struggle with having problems. support is there to help us and they are good at their job. as with any new acct, there are always gonna be some kinks. i had some to work out as well with my end of the system. it doesn't sound like something you can fix; probably something with how the two tie in together. did you log out and back in and see if that helped?

I have used this for years and have compared to Sylvan, Word, and MP Count, etc. When you have it set to count every character, bold, shift, tab, etc. It is great and always higher than the others. Now if you are wanting gross lines like in Word then no it won't be as high because Word counts blanks lines and Abacus counts a line only if there is a character on it. There is also two places to check for it to count the Headers/Footers. If you have the FREE version then it must be the trial or a very old version so you don't have all the features and functions.
Free? As in, free trial? Otherwise, I don't think you'll find a spellcheck software that's
