I would not; most of the time those type files, although not usually hard medical terms, take lots l
to type and are very difficult as it is hard to hear with background noise, different speakers, usually no macros, etc. I think they are worth more pay, not less. I also get paid by the word at 0.008 and had figured mine to be about 0.09/line as well in the past. stick with where you are.
A good website to search for medical terms, equipment, and drugs.
A good site for word help.
MS Word has updates, just as Windows does. Have you
.
It's really not a great idea to disable Windows updates. Just because updates are scheduled to be
installed, does not mean 7.0 will be automatically installed on your pc.  You will always receive a notification when installing anything other than critical updates, which 7.0 is not.
The Latest Word was a waste. Stedman's might have monthly updates on their site, not sure. nm

Bezoar: Taken from Wikipedia:

bezoar is a mass found trapped in the gastrointestinal system (usually the stomach),[1] though they can occur in other locations.[2][3]

There are several varieties of bezoar, some of which have inorganic constituents and others organic.
Need Medical Spellchecker and Word.
Anyone know where I can find an affordable medical spellchecker and also an affordable copy of MS Word 2000 or 2003?  Thanks :-)

PRD+ Taylor Medical Word List
I am looking for the rules from the original PRD+ Taylor Medical Word list.  If anyone has it, please let me know, I would like a copy.  I really need the original document if someone has it.  Thank you so much!
MEDICAL WORD SPELL CHECKER

I want to update my 2000 Stedmans Spellchecker.  Is there a newer version and what would be the best one to get.

I have medical students spelling every third word, such as N-O-S-E, sometimes twice.
This is how they dictate. The patient's eyes, that is E-Y-E-S, eyes are round, R-O-U-N-D, reactive, and equal, -E-Q-A-U-, I mean E-Q-U-A-L to light. Nose, that is -N-O-S-E, nose, is patent, etc. Funny that these are the ones that usually misspell their names.
Must be a highly technical medical word as

it would still have to recognize your router
somehow. It cannot be a "mind reader" so to speak. I still think it would need to have access to your router to work. sorry. just my opinion.
Recommendations for a medical spellchecker for MS Word 2003? Thanks. nm

Does Anyone Know of A Good Medical Spell Checker For Word?
Hello,

I am new to these boards and I am curious If anyone knows of a good medical spell check for Word? TIA :)
Ethically, once you recognize the name, you should tell your supervisor that you...
know this person and it wouldn't be right for you to have privy to their private medical record.  THat's the rule where I work.  I've had my children's principal,  fellow co-workers, and people that  I know from my husband's place of employment.  I return the job and tell my boss  to give it to somebody else.
How would anyone possibly recognize your vent (SM)
when it desccibes how every Transcriptionist out there feels. Guess it just goes with the business.
Oh, it's you, Shroom. I'd recognize that attitude anywhere.

Did you try rebooting to see if it would recognize "new...sm
hardware?" Sometimes that will work if there is no driver to install. Hope this helps!
Are there any free medical spell checkers for Word that can be downloaded?..

Medical Transcriptionist's Guide to Microsoft Word book
Does anybody have this book?  Is it worth the money to buy it if you are pretty comfortable creating macros and such in Word already?  Just wondering.... I am always looking for new ways to increase my speed and make things easier.  Any info would be great from someone who has this book.  Thanks!
Does your computer even recognize the flash drive? sm

It could be that the flash drive was not removed correctly the last time it was used and now the computer doesn't recognize it. A lot of the new flash drives use that annoying U3 program; you have to wait it to load completely before you can use the drive and you also need to use it to eject the flash drive before physically removing it from the computer. Also, make sure you're actually dragging it to the flash drive and not the U3 System, which shows as a separate drive in Windows Explorer (not IE).

How do I make SmarType recognize a Blocks folder? sm
I just transferred my "blocks" folder which contains standards for my docs over to another computer with a thumb drive. I installed Smartype on that computer with the CD. I restarted the computer and SmarType is working, but it is not my standards are not coming up when I type in the abbreviations. How do I get the program to recognize the standards in the "blocks" folder? TIA

click "Microsoft Update"

click "Express"

you have to do this in Internet Explorer.

the whole software was installed via net, and they say there has been no problem ever with that with other users, and it seems this is the latest software they are having.
They don't do yearly updates and never have. If you must
get hysterical about something at least get the real information about what you are carrying on about. Statements like this just make folks dismiss what you are saying because you don't know what you are talking about.
Anyone more updates on MQ bankruptcy?
When I read that note on this board a week or two ago, it got me really worried.  I'm working really hard right now training on a new MQ account, and the thought of losing my job in the near future makes me want to cry.  Any feedback out there?  Does anyone know what's going on?
Go to CNN.com for all of your news updates.
I also get my local newspaper online free.  Why pay and kill trees when the highlights are all on the internet?
Automatic updates, or

You may have to update your calendaring programs and some cell phones as well.

Did security updates; seems all better now. -- nm

I have an HP and intermittently get updates for it...sm
Might try that before you uninstall and reinstall. Good luck!
Waiting for what? They don't do yearly updates.
What else is there to say? But if you want to keep on whining about something that is untrue be my guest.
Stedman's with the yearly updates. nm

I was only going to get the book, but no more online updates. sm
You need to get the CD in order to get updates. Ellen Drake said on www.mtchat.com that the CD is much better than last year's.
It will still work, but will not allow you to receive updates.

I use Avast...it updates almost every day and runs in the background....
all the time. If I get an email attachment within attachment from forwards, it checks all of them before I even open it. It's a free program, too.
Thanks! Do you have a spellcheck that includes drug updates?

The Stedman's and then you buy the yearly updates afterward. nm

Thanks for the updates, glad to hear things
are going well for you. Go to church together, even if you split. Life can get better. God bless!
Has anyone updated yet to the new version of XP to 7.0 on updates and how does it work.
:
I have used Spellex for years never had a problem with the updates
I'm sorry to hear that. To each his/her own. I have used Spellex for years never had a problem with the updates. I would encourage anyone to try out software before you buy it.
Need to load some microsoft updates, need assistance here
I was told to go to microscoft and upload the latest - got the information to go to windows and click the express button and download and install. Where in the heck is the express button? Don’t see that anywhere. Thanks.
well it added up for me,
characters divided by 65 -- they DO count spaces.

plus i just rec'd the unexpected check for 'errors' of over $400, yeehah!! and another letter explaining the new 'pay plan' which includes another week off for FT'ers, pay based upon experience, etc. MQ, like i've said before, is always improving, i love this company!! i just hope they continue to be who they are and not ever sell out!!
Added.
Thanks for your Feedback.

new platform, even after 3 months typing about 300 lines less per day.  Plus they might be doing away with incentive pay, so seeing what is "out there."  The insurance coverage also got so much worse with 3,000.00 deductible, no meds covered, etc., which is a huge benefit loss.  Will probably stay there, but seeing what other companies offer for a good overall pay/benefit package.
This is one of the terms...sm

...that seems to have changed. I always put "metacarpophalangeal" before, but almost every doc I transcribe for these days says, very clearly "metacarpal phalangeal." I put the hyphen in because the words should be connected and that is the only way I can do it without changing what the doctor says.

Your book may list "carpophalangeal" as a word, but I am a former x-ray tech and I can tell you that none of the carpal bones attach directly to the phalanges. There is a metacarpal between the carpal bones and the phalanges. If you will look at a hand x-ray, there is a good 2-3" or more (filled by the metacarpal) between the carpal bones and the proximal phalanx of each digit.

That's why you can't depend solely on "word books." If they don't have a definition, you cannot be sure they are correct.
