Password protect the files in word (sm)

tools>security options or general options>password

That's what I'd suggest.

how do get rid of password protected -sm
computer.  I had it so a password needed to be entered on my PC but would like to change that now.  How do I do that? Thanks.
Computer is now password protected...sm

Thanks for the advice!  I wish I could get a little better control of him - I have also told him computer = $$$.  He just feels he has to fix everything for some reason - ARGH!!!!!!  Oh well, the password should keep him off of my stuff - I wish it would be that easy for other things around the house!

Password-protected FTP sites are . . .
HIPAA compliant.  Are there any that do not require a password?  I have never encountered one.
Rename your normal.dot file to something else then restart Word. It will create a new file.

I was working on a large file and had saved it in Word. I then went back to work on the file and hit a key that made the page go blank.  When I went to close the document it asked me to save any changes on the document. I answered yes, and now when I click on that document it is all blank! Shouldnt the previous info saved be there, even if the current stuff is not? Please help me!! Thank you

It must be a dss file. the newest version will not work with dss files sm
even when you install their codec for it. try uninstalling and install ES from this link their tech guy gave me for version 4.15.

word files
Under your C file, there is a window file and under windows is a temp file. I think it should be here, if you so a search for the file or a word in what you were typing. It should be in here, saved up to the point where your computer last did an auto save. Try that anyway. It has worked for me before, but not always. Good luck.
Was it a Word file?
It's a real pain, but if you do a wild card search (*.doc) you might be able to find it. Requires sifting through a lot if irrelevant stuff, but if it works...hey.
maybe all they had was virus attachments, which

leaving the blank e-mails?

Don't know, really.  Just throwing that out there.

Email attachments
Do any of you know of an email that lets you attach more than one file at a time, and when receiving, be able to save them all at once instead of one at a time?  Yahoo, gmail, and hotmail do not.
Think you'd have to rename each of them .doc files so Word

Read the Word help file.
Your auto correct file has an .acl file extension. Your auto text are connected to the template you use (probably normal) but you'll have to transfer that template to the new computer as well in order for those entries to be retained.

Where is *acl file in Word 2000? TX
Word lists more than one .acl file so you want to be...
sure you find the correct one for your version of Word. Each version names that file differently. There are also different language .acl files.
I use it to transfer files but I think it is based on Word sm
for typing so you shouldn't have a problem with macros and Expanders as long as they are in Word. As far as the footpedal, I am not sure as I have a USB adaptar from RadioShack converting it to USB instead of serial, but you can download the free trial of DocShuttle and see if it would work.
Need some help sending a Word file by e-mail...

We are selling our house and I am trying to send flyers via e-mail...however, I saved the file in Word (2 pictures and basic information, not very big) but it is too big to send via e-mail...is there any other way to save this so I can send the information via e-mail...I tried copying and pasting the document directly into e-mail but the pictures then do not show up..

I usually am able to figure out most things on the computer but I am getting frustrated with this...any help is appreciated...

I believe you would need to make changes to the normal.dot file in Word.

There are two ways to do it.  You can open up your existing normal.dot file and change your view to 200% and then save it.  Or you can create a whole new normal.dot file with the settings you want, but if you do it this way, you have to find and delete the original normal.dot file.

Either way, every new document should be magnified to 200% and in whatever font you set the default as.

How do you download multiple attachments to emails?

I just started with a company who sends their voice files via attachments to an email.  Is their an email (yahoo, aim, aol, msn.....) that will allow you to download all attachments at once instead of 1 at a time? Thanks Karen

Are you looking for "landscape?" In word it is under file-page setup--nm

PLEASE HELP!! Just accidentally deleted 1 hour file in Word...sm
It wasn't one I was currently working on.  Is there a way to recover it??
The most explicit directions can be found in the Word Help file.
You can print out the directions and follow them step-by-step. It can also explain auto text to you, just type that in the search box.
Need info on backing up Shorthand files. Also Word Autocorrect. TIA. nm

Thanks XXX. I found a "Microsoft Works Word Processor". You say I save those as files?

I do have a CD drive so if I can buy WORD like you mention, I can load it.

Do you think it would be beneficial in the long run to invest in WORD (maybe buy it at BEST BUY or something) and load it on my computer?  I am going to be doing lots of work, so better to use as good a program as I can as far as being able to SAVE stuff - There will be lots of opportunities for macros (or saving paragraphs, etc).  Whatever the term is these days to mean:  saving lots of words, LOL.

Well, I love some Autocorrect features--best thing about Word-- and I backup *.acl file---so I never lose it. Just replace it in the Windows folder (copy and paste my newest backup *.acl file--which I copy once a day--into the Windows folder on the C:drive). takes less than a minute, never "lose" Autocorrect anyumore. For years I did, though, before I figured out where it was. Just search for *.acl on your computer and copy the file that comes up as owner.acl or whatever you named your computer-- and then put it on the desktop as the backup file, jsut make a folder or whatever, newest backup acl-- along with Normal.dot-- and copy these once a week onto a disk.
Just open glo file in Word, highlight all, then change case and save back
to glo file. Use the Alt key trick to highlight just the column of words, then Shift + F3 to toggle through the change case commands. First save your glossary under a different name so you also keep the original.
Temp files disappear when you shut down Word. System restore does not recover documents .

Your name is not protected information
At the hospital I work in we were told your address and name are not considered protected information. However your symptoms, diagnosis and treatment are. I am not so sure I agree with this but apparently the hospital here doesn't think this is a problem.

A few months ago I took my father to a larger hospital near us to have surgery. After waiting in the waiting room for 6 hours the nurses told us the surgery was over the the doctor would be out to see us soon. Assuming since there were several smaller rooms that we would be taken into one of those for the update, NOPE. Right in front of every patient and family members right in the middle of the waiting room. Thank god my dad didn't have a circumcision or something embarrassing. I found that quite strange coming from one of the best hospitals in the whole state of Missouri.
How do you get a password?
Thanks for the ideas.  How do you go about getting a password in order to send the files via email?  I also downloaded the Streamload that was mentioned.  Looks like it is very easy to use.  Thank you all again.
Unions protected workers from exploitation
It seems me that had the unions had a watch dog group, abuse of that system would not have occurred. And there was abuse. A small percentage of people always seem to look for loop holes and then milk something good as long as they can until they ruin it for everybody.

But please, unions are good. If there were unions in Calif for the field workers, conditions would be improved and these unemployed workers across America who have lost their jobs to outsourcing could actually make a decent living at them without work that puts you into a chiropractors' office in ten years.

Of course, the price of food would have to go up or perhaps all of those filthy rich ranch owners would, instead, have to take a cut in income (now there is a possible answer).
demographics are not the only info that is HIPAA protected
Any info that could compromise a patient's privacy is protected. that includes any diagnostic information, tests, diagnoses, etc., and basically anything in that record.
Thanks..unfortunately it won't accept password :(NM

password protect it so that they will have to ask
If they question why you have a password, say that you had to for compliance issues, which really is what you should do anyway.  I have my computer set up so that after 20 minutes of being idle, I have to reenter my password.  They really should ask before using it.  I feel that my work computer is for my use only, so I don't feel guilty about not sharing it.
What diff does it make if it is one during the day or at night? Your computer should be protected
:+
Obviously this isnt DQS because you cant get in without a password. You must be on C phone yet. On
DQS no way to document what they are up to because you cant get into anyone elses number.
Cannot recall password for Windows :(

PC crashed so I pulled out the old PC from years ago.  But, I cannot recall my password.  Can I get around this somehow?  I am lost without my puter :(.

Thanks!

HIPAA only addresses PHI (protected health information) would is defined as anything that SM

specifically identifies the patient, i.e. name, MRN, SSN, account numbers, etc.  As long as all identifying information is removed from a report, it poses no HIPAA violation to keep it on file.  Furthermore, as an employee of the hospital in the medical transcription department and charged with peforming QA, I have legitimate reasons to access a patient's chart.  HIPAA says so.

Go back and read your HIPAA laws again.

You need to use your password to get in there and it is an internet based website that is why you
need to get set up if you dont have a password or just go to the website and follow along.
you can get your password reset, just call them and explain what you did.
I did this and they will just reset your password and you can download it again.

Also if you have a burner, you could try burning it onto a disc.
Filezilla is the software used to transfer files to an FTP server where the files "reside".
.
I think it is the same type of file, so rename it and replace your autocorrect file with your DQS us

Depends on the file format of the Short Cuts file.
ShortHand comes with a utility file that can import various formats. You can get that file with the trial download of SH.

Converting voice files to digital files

I have a Voice Solutions dictation system that will happily convert DS4000 voice files to digital when they are downloaded (wave files). However, it will not recognize any other files for conversion. I had a physician download .WAM files from his DS-30 and my dictation system would not convert it. Anyone have any suggestions?  I would greatly appreciate any input.

Thanks!!!

...with your user.aco file. Save your autocorrect file to somewhere else. nm

You can save the SH file in a text file and import to IT that way. sm
You may have to do some cleanup in the SH text file, but it sure would be faster than re-entering them all manually.
File taxes under the name on file w Social Security....
Name on W2 doesn't have to match, but your tax return has to match SS records. They don't want your marriage license or anything else. Did that for 13 years as instructed by IRS. Didn't have to change it with SS until state changed rules requiring drivers license to match SS records. Still use my maiden name in some limited circumstances.
