You can find this button on the left under where you enter your text and the abbreviation.  That's all you have to do.  Also, make sure you haven't accidentally added a space after last character.

Right mouse click on button and choose customize. sm

Ignore the box that appears. Go back and right click on the button again and from the new popup menu make your choice. To see just a button image, choose Default Style. You can change the picture on the button by choosing Change Button Image and picking a new picture. If you're feeling ambition, Edit Button image will allow you to "draw" your own.

what do the middle people make per line?
I may be negotiating a contract directly with a radiology business, but I"ve only done independent contractor work up until now.  I'd like to enter into negotiations seeming like I know my way around the block:  what do companies (who hire transcriptionists) tend to make per line?  How would I find that out?
You may have gotten it back from the recycle bin, but system restore does not restore documents.

Please leave an email or email me at my address....click the email button. Thanks...nm

A gross line IS a gross line regardless if it's 90 characters long or 1 character long... SM

I'm very sorry that your lines are 90 characters line and you get paid by gross lines.  You are cheating yourself - that's not my fault.  You cannot change the definition of a gross line.  So I gues I'm not understanding what you are trying to say.  Now if you are trying to say that your line equals 90 characters and that's how you figure your lines, than you are not using gross lines.  You have defined a line to be 90 characters, whereas most MTSOs define a line as 65 characters.  If that is the case, then I must say again, you are cheating yourself.

So which is it, do you get paid by gross lines or by a 90 character line?

A gross line is any line with typewritten characters on it - no matter how long or SM
how short.  So your gross lines may be longer than 65 characters, but you get credit even for a line as short as "Sincerely,".  If your gross lines are not being counted that way, then you are not being counted on gross lines and are probably getting screwed.  I'd look into that if I were you.
Overtype option is on. Turn it off in the tools options or click twice on OVR on the status line.

try a long-line bra
with posture support - the kind that criss-crosses in the back.
It is a long line, so you probably are getting
less than you would if you had a counted 65-character line. It is actually possible to have more than 90 characters per line in that report, which is about 40% longer than the counted 65 character lines.

Set your margins at 1' and 1' in word. Then type random letters, not all narrow letters, not all wide, 10 at at time. I used the combination of m, l, p, w, o, n, c, e, and i, and did not use any spaces so I could get a count. A space is equivalent to an "o" or a "n" in width.
Yes, as long as it's on-line...nm

How long does it take to make decent line count?
I am considering joining an outsourcing company. Can you tell me how long it took you, as an experienced transcriptionist, to get up to snuff that you were making a decent wage? And what is your average rate per hour when paid by the line of 65 cpl?
Click on tools, AutoCorrect, and click on tab that says
AutoFormat as you type and uncheck the ordinals option.
If it's installed, click or F10 to open it, click on...sm
the little white piece of paper icon to bring up the window where you ADD your new entries to, type your abbreviation in the Keyword box, then drop down to the Text to Type box and put in what you need it to say, then click Okay. You're done! If you want to delete your entry, arrow down to it, then click on the Trash Can icon. It'll ask if you want to put it on the clipboard, say yes and hit okay. If you want to modify it, use the little hand on the piece of paper icon. I like to click on the Disk icon to save stuff once I enter it, too, as a backup. If you're working and want to enter a paragraph or a page, you'll hightlight your stuff, bring up the ADD window, copy and paste it into the Text to Type area using the commands on the bottom of that box, name it, and hit okay. To use hot keys and stuff, you'll have to read the instructions in the help file. Good luck! ..nm
Oops, too long subject line, meant to say on the uncased tape.
We also had one or two real winners who taped things to the tape and then wondered why we couldn't get all the dictation done when the scotch tape tore the cassette tape. Oy vey.

About system restore, sorry about that
nm
I wonder if you can use System Restore
to recover that document. That worked for me once.
that's right but first you have to set it to backup so that you can restore
x
Have you tried doing a system restore?
.
You can restore your system, but I'm not sure if that will do it (sm)

Could it be in your recycle bin?  If you see anything in there that could be it, right click and restore.  If that doesn't help, you can restore your whole system back to a certain date.  I have done this before when I got a virus I couldn't delete.  Start, Run, msconfig <enter>, launch system restore.  You will be given the chance to pick a date to restore back to.

Restore your computer to the day before he came.sm
Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore, then follow directions. Hope this helps.
do you have system restore?
If you use/have system restore set up, you can go back to the date prior to this problem, and things should go right back to normal....read about system restore on your system in the HELP (F1) area
System Restore
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.
You can also restore your system...
Go to Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, System Tools, then pick SYSTEM RESTORE.

Pick a date you're positive was before the virus was contracted, and restore to that date.

BTW, poster above about the malwarebytes site is correct...It works, and it's also pretty cool to watch it run and "quarantine" the viruses. My computer had 67 of them at one time, unbeknownst to me.

Good luck!!!
All hail System Restore! (sm)

The DSL went out in my complex the other day, and when it was restored, nothing I could do could restore connection on my work computer.  The manager brought his laptop over and proved the connection was fine.  My tech-savvy daughter and I checked and rechecked everything, then laughed when the Hardware Lord came home and rechecked all the same things we had tried.

Finally she reminded me about System Restore; I restored to the previous day, and all was well.

Don't know about System Restore on Windows XP systems?  Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore and make sure yours is turned on and sufficient memory allocated.  In addition to the automatic restore points WinXP schedules, make certain you create a restore point before you change any significant settings on your system or install or uninstall software.  Note that it only restores settings, not deleted files or programs.

There are some forms of Spyware which hide out in system restore.  The only way to get rid of them is to turn it off and erase all previous restore points.

Thought I'd post this as this feature has saved me a lot of grief on several occasions.

I would try a system restore to before you started...sm
That should clear up any problems you've had since then. You can find it in your control panel, performance and maintenance and then system, where you'll find system restore. Choose a date to before you started work there. Or you can buy the programs out there that fixes problems like this, like Fix-It Ultimate 6. I know they have them at Walmart for $20. Good luck!
My system restore is not working so I cannot do this..nm
nm
If I am right I did not "set up" my system restore...sm
Your system restore as I understand it automatically makes its own restore dates. You can make your own restore dates also. I have not done any set up regarding system restore and have used it several times in the past. Check it out on your pc with any luck you may be able to use it...Good Luck...
do a system restore. see if that helps. nm

I just did a system restore and that seems to have helped. nm

Welcome! System restore is a lifesaver
I have used it many times. I always check for simpler solutions, but if there are none, this does just what it says and at least allows you to rule out certain things.

System restore won't work for this.
The icon on the toolbar is controlled by the normal.dot file and system restore does not affect that file. You can take the icon off the toolbar by holding down on the Alt key and dragging the button down to the document window with your mouse. You can also open the customize dialog box on the tools menu and drag it off that way.
