if they're legit, why are older versions still for sale (sm)

If you go to the real Stedman's website, you'll see that even older versions are still being sold - they're not being given away by Stedman's.

At the very least these are bootleg copies that you're not supposed to have unless you paid for them and that means they're not legit in any way.

    I have older versions saved.

If this poster (or anyone else) needs an earlier version, I have setup files for both 4.15 and 4.02 available. Just shoot off an email.

A lesson I learned a long time ago--always have a backup plan.Whenever I download a new program and after setting it up on my computer, I save the original set-up file in a folder called, amazingly enough, Downloads. Then, when a newer version is released, I also save it (usually with the version number as part of the name) in the same folder. That way, if anything goes wrong with the update, I have the old setup files to fall back on.

Sharing with older versions of Word.
There are some problems with sharing files with older versions of Word. Although there are ways to get around it, it sounds as if it might be a bit annoying. I am thinking about upgrading, and this came up in my research.
Upgrade to Word 2007 vs older versions
I just bought a new PC with Vista operating system.  Now I must buy Word to install.  I looked at the differences between Word 2007 and the older versions on the Microsoft website and it seems that there is a difference in the way Word 2007 is saved compared to the older versions - you have to download a "patch" to be able to "read" older version Word files and for my clinic to be able to "read" my Word 2007 they will have to download a "patch" as well to enable their PC to open this document.  I need some advice if this is a good idea or if I should just stick with an older version of Word.  I have a copy of about 3 years old that I have not used and can load on my system.  I would like to upgrade to the latest version as I know in a year or two the doctor's office would have changed but am wondering if the new version is a pain to work with or a pleasure.  Anybody out there that can tell me the pros and cons between upgrading to the latest or just sticking to the old and familiar.  I am also not sure if the doctor's office will download the patch and how accomodating they will be...
Difference in Word 2007 from older versions

I have a trial version of Word 2007 on my computer, and I really like its layout.  It's not a fully functional version, so I can only try it out so much.  Has anyone made the switch from the older versions of Word and liked it better?  Has it improved your productivity in any way?  Any problems with it?  All feedback appreciated.

    Thanks!

That's because we're always *on sale*. nm
    .
Sale - as in company sale, but
don't worry nothing seems to have happened yet.  They've only been talking about it for months now.
    They seem legit.

When I did an internet search, they were there and nothing stood out with a big red flag. It looked like the startup costs were only like $30. I would be more leery if they had asked for hundreds of dollars upfront etc. They were not listed with BBB..so they could be good..or not I guess, but I think if all you have to invest is time (which sounds minimal) and $30, why not.  Now, if they require A LOT of time and more money, I definitely wouldn't be jumping into anything. It is most definitely a legit company.
Any smart newbie should jump at it. Five cents per line for basically being mentored is not that bad, especially when you consider all the scammers out there who want newbies to work for free or pay for the privilege of working. I'm sure the company will give raises and work the person into a fulltime job.
Yes, that legit way to do it, too. Just depends

    legit companies, pay.

and who is to say if these line counts are LEGIT?

    MT w/disabilities...it's a legit site

My sister does work through them.  She does a lot of VA reports because the VA has to have so much of a percentage of disabled workers doing their transcription.  This organization also has agreements with ATT, FTD, etc, many mail order catalogs type of companies where the work can be done with a computer from hom.

She has been with them for 3 years now I think and it is legit.

Need legit MT school on line... help!

    Hey there,

I'm an RN looking to earn some extra income while at home with my son.  I'm finding so many schools on-line that are a bunch of scams!  Can anyone refer me to a legit school?  Does anyone know of a course that would be geared more towards someone that already has medical experience?  I need lots of advice.

His resume doesn't even look legit. The DNA

I wouldn't be suprised if he is doing this for the attention.  His resume is so far off the wall I can't believe anyone would hire this wacko!

I considered your question legit as well
Especially in light of what went down the other night, which you mentioned earlier.
Umm, no the OP, but I read the article and it looks pretty legit.
I don't listen to country music, but even if I did, I'd probably boycott the guy.  A living thing shouldn't be tortured whether it's tame or wild.
The SH people have always been helpful and prompt with instructions. Ask them if your copy is legit.
    s
    Yes, there are different versions...

The version that I worked on had access to other reports in the system, which was nice.  What I did was type in MS Word then paste into Meditech via Shorthand, just don't tell the company that you're doing that.  Otherwise, if I had to type directly into Meditech, I wouldn't have made any money.  So, like any platform, there are good and bad aspects to it, but it really depends on which version.

If your SH copy is a legit purchase, ask the techs at their site. They gave me stepbystep instructio

Buy the CD versions. My books have been...
...gathering dust ever since I invested in those.
There could be different versions of the same program that are not
    s
Seems to be the same to me as I've used several versions, too. nm

    MS Word versions
Well found out that with the update, it DOES work, instead of doing "typical install' you can do a custom install and tell the update to keep the original version of Word, which it does and will also import your Stedman's Quick Look, etc.
Even different versions of Word count the same, so it's not that either. nm

Does anyone know if the newer versions of Escription sm
are compatible with Woord 2007?  The requirements I received some time ago stated that Word 2007 was not compatible.  Wondered if they had upgraded yet.  TIA
The same way you copy/paste in all versions.
Ctrl + C to copy, Ctrl + V to paste.
Those versions don't even come close to how IT V Pro works.
    xx
I have a lower versions but I find
that when it stops expanding, somehow (I know I didn't do it) the autoreplace box got unchecked.  When I check it back, it works again.  Hope this helps.
You aren't working in both versions.
That's why Word is working okay for you. If you want to work in both versions then the oldest one has to be installed first so the registry will know how to handle both.
Does Flashtype work in all Meditech versions?
    nm
Two versions of Word on the same computer will only work
correctly if the oldest version is installed *first*.
There are updated macros in all versions of Word
except 2007. The macro for 2000 is called macros9.dot and can be downloaded from the Microsoft site. The AutoCorrect Utility in 2002 & 2003 is in the support.dot template that is included with Word. You can go to this site to get the macro for 2007:

Or you can simply locate your .acl file and back that up. It's easy to find if you add an entry and then do a search for it by the date modified. Just make sure you are searching hidden files and folders.

Depends on the versions of Word and WordPerfect. sm
Some WP versions can read Word .doc files, some don't. Some versions of WP will not accept copy/paste from Word. The advice to save the Word document as an .rtf file may be your only choice.
The home/student versions are not licensed to be used for
commercial purposes, i.e., in a work environment. There is no difference whatsoever in the programs. Word 2007 can be saved down to earlier versions so, yes, you can get a job using that version if you are not working in a Word-based platform that requires a specific version.

The Microsoft site has many free tutorials that you should look into.

What version of Word? That can't be set in newer versions. I had to do a macro --sm
I hope this link works for you. It shows how to make the macro. I use alt + semicolon for it because it seemed those would be a convenient shortcut to use. H

Here's the link (you'll probably have to copy and paste it):

No, but with an expander you can just set your expansions to the approved versions for that account.
    nm
Smartype only works in specific Word versions.
You want an Expander that works in all programs and a lot of platforms, such as Instant Text or Shorthand.
See link inside for versions of Office that are supported on Vista

nothing is free! There are 3 versions of varying cost, depending on your level of need.

    Partition of Sale

I wanted to get out of owing a house that I co-owned with a boyfriend after the relationship tanked.  He would not cooperate whatsoever.  Thus, I was being held hostage to a property I no longer wanted and I could not free up my credit to purchase a property on my own.  I got a free consult with an attorney.  I was told that I could file a Judgment for a Partition of Sale.  The court will then file a judgment to put the property up for sale when parties do not agree and divide the proceeds among the owners.  I could also have him pay legal fees too.  I informed him that it would be far cheaper for him to cooperate, and since he wanted to keep the house, he wouldn't be court-ordered to sell it.  After researching the matter himself, he followed through and refinanced the house on his own and settled with me without court and attorney fees.  I did a Google search and found that this applies in Arizona too.  http://www.azcentral.com/home/hb101/articles/0129combs29.html

More off, but Penneys is having bra sale, buy two,
    a
    Yard sale
The 4th would be okay if your area gets a lot of traffic. A lot of people "running around" on the holiday weekend. I have known people who did very well on holiday weekends.

Just to warn, clothes don't sell well. Toys, baby items, household items are good sellers. I like to price toward the lower end so that I get rid of it. Those who price high take the risk that the buyer won't bother to "haggle". But you should stand firm if you feel a price is fair, maybe give in if it is getting towards the end of the day.

    Have a good one!!!
Seems like everything in this country is for sale
nowadays. Property owned by people who aren't US citizens. Ancient west coast redwoods being cut up and sold to Japan for lumber. And of course good U.S. jobs. And the lesser jobs, the ones are taken by people who have sneaked over our borders. I wonder who is going to pay the country's taxes 20 years into the future.
