I agree it's outrageous that guy is still drawing breath

He should've been tried years ago, and if found guilty should have assumed ground temperature many years ago. However, it looks like four subsequent administrations share the blame for this not just the Bush administration, but yes, more should've been done especially by the Bush administration to be sure justice was served in this case..

I agree Obama is a breath

of fresh air and I love that he inspires people. However, I would encourage all Democrats, Independents, et al, to consider Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico. On the Democratic side, he has by far the best resume. He is a superior negotiator, served as head of the Department of Energy, sat at the UN, was an ambassador. Here is a link to his web site. It is quite lengthy, but you can scan over it and just look at the positions he has held and the things he has done.

You are also a breath of fresh air. Agree 100%.
that kind of respectful standing in the world will be taken on November 4th and we will begin that journey in earnest the day after Obama's inauguration. You can take that to the bank.
Very well said. I agree. You and Sam bring a breath of fresh air to this board. sm
I am learning more when I research courtesy of Sam and the more I dig, the more scared I get of Obama. He hasn't said one word about how he is going to fund universal health care for one. I could go on, but won't as the libs flame away at anybody who does not agree with their views and I just don't feel like dealing with it tonight. The last I knew, this was a free country and we are all entitled to our opinions.
you are going to be drawing much more sm
than you paid in when you draw it. SS was not based on getting out what you put in. Benefits were based on what you make in your lifetime. Its an insurance policy basically. You don't pay as much in for life insurance or any other insurance as you draw out. This is no different. Leave the elderly folks alone!
Its not just the elderly drawing SS

I saw a commercial for a shady law firm wanting to help people fight for their rights if they were denied what they "deserve" from SS.  One of the reasons listed was "depression".  That's right.  Some people get a SS check just to be depressed, or be alcoholic, or drug addicted.

I personally know 3 people who should not be, but are, drawing SS; all of them under 40.  Two of them have never worked a day in their life, two of them have supposed mental problems, one of them has a supposed health problem that prevents working but allows her to shop at the mall.   These 3 plan on drawing SS for the rest of their lives, and never working.

These are the freebies that anger me.  People that have never paid in, can act special in front of doctors, and never get their case reviewed, just draw SS their whole lives.  I've worked since I was 14 (PT until 18, then FT from then on).  I'm 49.  There won't be ANY SS left for me - because it all got given away to slackers who manipulate the system.  And believe me, if it was up to me NOBODY would get a raise because it just makes the amount I will get at full retirement age of 67 (if they don't push it back to 75 by then!!!!) smaller and smaller....as it stands today when I do draw SS I'll only get 78 cents on the dollar for everything I PAID in my whole life.  Sorry, none left for ME, we had to give MINE away to people whose whole lives have been a drain on society amd never paid a cent!

Plenty of people draw SS their whole life from the day they were born - like a few of octomom's brood!  But its OK, let her keep popping out the preemies, I'll give away a few more cents on MY retirement dollars so that she can!  This issue is not just about the elderly, so wake up and smell our future SS being squandered today!

Back to the drawing table - as well they should!
.
Speaking of backfires, it's back to the drawing board

Outrageous!!!!

This is the most blatant disrespect towards the citizens of this country.  Our economy is falling apart.  People losing homes, 401K plans being wiped out, job loss, etc, etc, etc and they go and do this?????????????????????????????

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/with-economy-in-shambles-congress-gets-a-raise-2008-12-17.html

I am so friggin sick of them all.  Oh yeah, guess we should feel sorry for them.  They have hundreds of thousands to millions and it isn't enough for them.

Talk about really getting the blood boiling.  They care nothing about the people of the country and what we are going through and this shows it!  They'll sit and spit in our faces and say, so what, what are you going to do about it.  They really need to take the power away from them to vote themselves in their own pay raises.

One word: OUTRAGEOUS!!

xx

Im thinking those outrageous remarks
of pat Robertson about Sharon's stroke might just put a kink in this deal..
Outrageous remarks made by Clinton

The DNC should dismiss H Clinton IMMEDIATELY due to her offensive and despicable comments about why she is staying in the race (the assasination of Bobby Kennedy - in other words the same could happen to Barack and so she should stay in in case that happens).  I think it is a disgrace for her to continue in the race at this point.  There is no doubt in my mind (and others I have talked with) that she wants something dreadful to happen to Barack, but to blatently come out and mention the assination of Bobby Kennedy when referring to Barack Obama is the lowest of all time lows.  Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE should call for her removal from the race.  This is why we CANNOT have her as VP.  If so Barack would have to constantly be looking over her shoulder.  If nobody believes that they need to read the history of the Clintons and what they have done to people in the past.  It's fact and people need to wake up!  This is not some "right-winged" thing against her - it happened and you can read about it.

Then she tries to cover up her shameful statements with lies.  The media is treating her too kindly by saying they are sure she didn't mean that she believes something would happen to him.  I just want to scream - Don't you believe it.  Look at the past!  Yet once again another reason I'm not voting for her.

And what part of NO doesn't the Hillary supporters understand that she is NOT going to be VP on his ticket.  NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!  If, and I doubt that would happen, but if she was to be on the ticket I would not vote for him.  I will write in Ron Paul.

She goes on and on about all the people she has that will vote for McCain and not Obama if she doesn't get on the ticket - yeah, well there are an equal number that if she is on the ticket will absolutely not vote for her and will either go for McCain or just not vote.  I was watching the exit polls after the election on Tuesday and they said that its about a 50/50 split with Hillary supporters and Barack supporters saying they will not vote for the other.

There's no way in the world I want that XXXXX anywhere near the white house.  I am just outraged that she made such a dispicable, appalling, shameful and vile statement.  And I don't even want to hear any Hillary lovers try and defend this.  If there is a meaning of evil she fits the description to a T.  This just confirms she is XXXXX in my books.

Those prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Bad plan, Obama!
According to the table on the website you linked, in my state their insurance would cost nearly $800 a month! Holy KRAP, Batman! I pay a little over a quarter of that.

So Obama thinks some welfare family should get an $800/mo policy for free and I, because I can afford my own inrance, have to pay for lesser coverage.

This is a joke, right? He can't be serious.

And those rate tables were from 2004/5. Lord only knows what they are today.
This is what I wrote in my message below called outrageous
Their blatant glutton is so sickening I could just puke! Families losing their jobs, homes, 401K's, retirements. People are in such hard times right now, bailouts after bailouts after bailouts and congress (all pretty close to millionaires if not more) goes and just gives themselves a pay raise. I'm am so sick to death of the whole political scene.
Denounce Fox News Outrageous Rhetoric

Fox News Crosses the Line

Target: Fox News Sunday Host Chris Wallace
Sponsored by: Media Matters

For news coverage to be "fair and balanced," there has to be a line separating news from political activism – a clear boundary between legitimate commentary and demagoguery.

Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace repeatedly characterizes his network as "fair and balanced" – a source of news that should be taken seriously. However, several recent actions on Fox News illustrate that the network is contributing to a culture of conservative paranoia and anti-Obama political activism.

For example, since launching his Fox News show, Glenn Beck has engaged in increasingly outrageous rhetoric that promotes a culture of conservative paranoia – from imitating President Obama pouring gasoline onto the "average American" to mocking Obama's aunt's "limp."

If Wallace wants to continue to portray his network and influential Sunday show as a credible source of news, he owes it to his viewers to speak out publicly against Fox News' recent behavior. So please join us in asking Chris Wallace to publicly denounce Fox News' recent actions and repair the damage done to his network's credibility.

Breath of fresh air
I'm new to these boards and I just have to let all of you know that your posts are a breath of fresh air to me. I'm being suffocated by rampant conservatism here in the buckle of the bible belt. So many of your sentiments echo my own, and it feels good to know that I'm not alone.
So now you are rationalizing...in the same breath...nm

For me, I won't waste my breath saying anything to you, Sam, since you are always right!!!!!
.
But we don't actually GETthem until we take a breath?
Then what happens to that soul if the someone who was supposed to get doesn't make it past the knife?
Don't hold your breath. I think the
next 4 years is going to be a sink or swim economy, and I don't think many people or companies can swim anymore. Too many are at the end of the rope and about to drown.
I'm not holding my breath......sm
I'll believe Obama gives me a tax cut when it happens, as well as help out with my health insurance. Can't tell from his website how "exactly" that's going to happen. His website if filled with a whole lot of words that are meaningless to me. Sounds good, but I don't see a lot of substance there, just like when he was campaigning.

Not holding my breath, but I'll come back and tell you if either of those things happen.

Not a Republican even though I leaned towards McCain over Obama, since he's such an unknown (and still is), and I actually decided I couldn't vote for McCain either....so my vote went to neither of them.

Don't waste your breath explaining it to them
They will only interpret everything you say as bashing. All logic is lost on some people.

I wouldn't hold my breath. n/m

I wouldn't hold my breath.
.
the world is holding their breath
After 9/11 would the United States really elect a black man named Barack Hussein Obama?
You are wasting your breath on these pathetic
people.  They have no life, or such miserable lives that they have all the time in the world to scour the Internet for more garbage to spout, so now this is what consumes their lives.  How sad -- NOT!  The people have spoken.  If you're not happy with the outcome, then MOVE OUT OF THE COUNTRY.  Maybe you can start a revolution somewhere else.
Don't hold your breath waiting.
He already said that he can't do everything at once. "It may take a year, it may take 2 years, it may even take the first term to do it all, but it will be done".
You're wasting your breath
The word Palin sends them into attack mode.
I wouldn't hold your breath
He has no plans whatsoever to bring the troops home in 60-90 days. He is already saying they need to stay another 5 years. Not to mention all the other dangerous areas he plans to send them too once out of Iraq. Then once he gets the Civilian National Security up and running and the kids in college, etc trained they can be diverted too. Maybe he'll bring home the troops for a short LOA (leave of absence), but they will go right back.

Why do people think he needs to be president to break promises. He's already making decisions and he already has broken promises he made on his campaign trail (just to get the votes).

Broken promise #1. I will bring the troops home. - He's already said they will be there for at least the next five years. I read another article that said it won't happen until 2011, and that is from an agreement that Bush signed. So in 2011 even then Obama will not have brought them home, it will be because of Bush. If people had their minds and eyes open during the campaign they would have seen this as a clear trick to get the people to vote for him).

Broken promise 2. I will tax the rich. - He now is coming out and saying he will not tax the rich.

Broken promise 3. I will bring change to Washington. - And just how is he suppose to do that when his entire cabinet is being filled with old Clintonians. People are sick of the Bush's and Clinton's and he goes and drags back these #$%(* we were so happy to get rid of.

Broken promise 4. I will not have lobbyists in my administration. - Uh hellooooooo. There are at least 15 people in his cabinet who are lobbyists.

So, there are just 4 of his campaign promises he has broken. Has has picked his cabinet, and revealed his (no taxes for the rich) plan already and also the fact that he is not going to be bringing the troops home. Seeing as this is on camera and in writing you can say that he has broken his promises. Unless for some reason you think that on the day of his inaugeration he's going to tell all these people that he picked for his cabinet that it was only a joke and instead he's going to hire more capable people.

People are really questioning his ability to lead (and this is in other countries too), which clearly by his choices and decisions he has already made he is showing that he cannot. I just thank god Biden is in there.
Most bigots deny it til their last breath. I think that they really don't know

Save your breath. People that believe
worldnutdaily are not the type of folks who trust reputable sources.
oooh - I like poopie-breath, can I use it? LOL
You instantly brought me back to my childhood. Gave me a laugh.
We're not holding our breath. Owning up

Don't hold your breath waiting for the fanatics
They're probably holding a blog conference on how to discredit/over-rule the Supreme Court.
Amanda, you've wasted your breath. s/m
There is not a rational thought in any of these people's heads.  They don't care about hope or the possibility of change for the better.  The ironic thing about this is that if and when Jesus Christ were to return, these kind of people would be the ones who would crucify him all over again because of the narrow-minded prejudice that seems to feed them.  More's the pity.
Rahm shouldn't hold his breath. sm
Want us to understand what it is like to be an American. Now that is funny - more like NWO slaves.
I guess they know it is a waste of breath rehash...sm
the same old things over and over. I think most of the dems are probably on another board discussing real issues instead of some fantasy world. I see a pattern of poisonous pablum being fed and swallowed whole.
Amanda, sad to say, your're wasting your breath.

There is just no getting through to these narrow-minded people.  They don't want to give him a chance, because their tiny brains have been filled with the BS that has been fed to them by the publicity-seeking egomaniacs that they worship (Lamebaugh, Coultergeist, Beck who I think is a closet Nazi, O'Reilly).  Dittoheads -- what a great name for them -- they are incapable of having an original thought of their own.  One poster on here has the nerve to say "he has had his chance".  Give me a break -- that shows nothing but ignorance.  The man has been in office less than 3 months!!

You cannot have a reasonable conversation with these types of people.  Thank you for trying, though.  You had to know you would get flamed on this one, just as I'm sure I will.  C'est LA vie.

Not just mistakes, he is being criticized for every breath he takes!!! nm

Wrongo, just-the-bad-breath. I've seen it and I do know a bunch of
We have no time to be wasting on these ridiculous notions.

And this has nothing to do with liberal or conservative. It has to do with whether or not you have one iota of common sense, and it's becoming more evident by the day that you don't.
I wait with bated breath to hear him repeat

how the US and Israel should be wiped off the face of the world.  You must be rejoicing!

Don't waste your breath. No one with a modicum of sense can honestly
believe these things. Some folks just like to stir the pot. Besides, look how the conservatives have cannibalized themselves in the elections past and have attempted to do so this year (claims in South Carolina of McCain being a traitor, etc.).

Some people will only ever see what they want to see. Unfortunately, they are victimized by those that play into their prejudices and fears.

I agree, that goes for both sides. I don't agree with those starting trouble over...sm
on your board either, but then some of you come and take it out on the people who only post here and we have nothing to do with the fights over there.

I enjoy communicating with liberals and occasionally do learn something from conservative posters, so I refuse to let the driveby, no moniker, one-sided finger pointers, self-indulging posters drive me off.
Rush is right. I agree. Somebody's gotta agree.
....in many of his policies in his attempt to completely socialize America.

I hope he fails.

I hope he succeeds, however, in the office of president, and doing the right thing, and moves to the center.

However, it's not looking good. He's left of left so far, isn't he. Showing who he truly is, in his first acts as president.

I sure don't agree with

the Supreme Court's decision on eminent domain, either, and I also hope that guy buys Souter's property and turns it into a hotel.  I love the name of the restaurant he wants to build in the hotel: Just Desserts.  (I can't remember which TV show I saw that on because, contrary to those on these boards who already have me figured out, I DON'T only watch MSNBC.  I actually flip back and forth between MSNBC and Fox.  I'm sure it was one one of those stations, though.)

And I totally agree with a woman's right to choose.

I do have a problem with partial birth abortions, based on my limited understanding of it, which is what I've heard the conservatives say about a full or nearly full-term baby being basically born and then "beaten to death" by the doctor.  (From what I've discovered from some conservatives on these boards in the past few days, I take everything they say with a grain of salt and accept the possibility up front that it's an exaggerated statement devoid of critical facts.)

But if this is indeed true, then I don't know how it could be considered anything BUT murder.  And I don't understand the issue regarding the health of the mother because if the mother can survive the delivery of a baby that can survive outside the womb, then the issue would seem nonexistent. (Again, I don't know that much about it.)

I also have mixed feelings about children and abortion.  One the one hand, it is a surgical procedure, and if my child can't even have her ears pierced without my consent, then certainly she shouldn't be allowed to have a surgical procedure without my consent.

But what about if she's been impregnated as the result of a rape by her father or other family member?  That sick stuff DOES happen in this country.  What if she knows she wants an abortion?  Should she be forced to have the baby?  I can think of situations where she might be safer if the parents didn't know, but yet I still feel the parents have a right to know.  I'm very conflicted about this particular issue and can't say I have a definite opinion.  That's why I'd like to hear more on the subject from some intelligent, thoughtful, nonjudgmental people.

As far as gay marriages, I admit I get a little "twinge" at the use of the word "marriage." It might be that something deep in my gut is telling me that marriage SHOULD be between a man and a woman.  After all, WE invented it and WE wrecked it.  I think they should invent a new name for their unions because from what I've personally seen, gay couples seem to last for a very long time, much longer than some marriages I know. As far as whether or not they should have rights, why SHOULDN'T they?  I don't recall a day during puberty when I woke up and made the decision that I was going to be straight.  Likewise, I'm willing to bet that no gay person woke up and decided to be gay.  I just don't understand why people are so threatened by the thought that a group might actually have RIGHTS in this country.  As with abortion or stem cell research, etc., if they don't believe in it, they shouldn't PARTICIPATE IN IT. I'm neither pro-gay or anti-gay.  (A quick look in the mirror, though, reminds me that I'm definitely pro-gray. )

With all of these social issues, as you said, we will "stand in judgment with our maker."  That's between us and our own personal God, and those with different religious/spiritual beliefs have no right to shove their beliefs down our throat.

I saw a post on the other board referring to when the U.S. was founded, saying that the vast majority was Christian but that others were given "the freedom to others not to believe..."

NOBODY can "give" anyone "freedom" to either believe or not to believe, and the fact that this poster thinks they can is either very stupid or very scary, and I'm not exactly sure which it is. I think this is relevant because I believe there are some conservatives out there who don't only want the law to reflect their specific narrow brand of religion, but they would LOVE to be able to control what people think and believe.

Knowing that Bush is going to appoint one (maybe two before the end of the year) new Supreme Court Justice(s) scares me because, as you said, our rights are being slowly taken away, and this man has proven by his own actions that the personal freedoms of others aren't things that he cares for much, especially freedom of speech and ideas. That's why he banned anyone who didn't agree 100% with his views from all of his "open town hall" meetings.

We also have an evangelical Senator who holds a public meeting in a search and says that liberals aren't people of faith.

First, it's freedom of speech.  Next, it will be freedom of religion.  What about freedom of "thought."

I wonder what their views on stem cell research would be if it was discovered that stem cell research held the key to developing a new technique to control thought processes of those who disagree with them.

I AGREE
I agree with a few of your points..maybe this govt will push us liberals and conservatives together..how great that would be.  I agree with eminent domain, I dont know about the abortion issue for a young person, however, I feel empathy for them.  Regarding gay marriage.  I feel there is not enough love in this word and if two people find love and want to be married, let them.  I personally do not believe in marriage..dont want the govt or anyone else keeping tabs on my personal life.  I have lived with my male friend for 11 years and dont want anyone telling me what choices to make in my adult life.
agree
I agree with you..why, a lot of my friends are conservative (smile), they really are.  We agree on a lot and disagree on a bit but do it in a friendly manner.  My dream..that both ideologies can live together peacefully..
I agree!!!
These people on here are pretty nasty to conservatives.  They are definitely not living up to their standards of tolerance and peace.  They seem very angry even enraged.  I don't think we should rip each other apart.  It serves not useful purpose whatsoever.
I agree with most of what you said.

However, I don't think it's because of President Bush AND his DADDY. I think George W. came into office hell bent on finishing what his daddy DIDN'T finish and only needed a reason, real or invented, to "finish" it.  And I totally agree with you when you say that this was his personal agenda. I think the disconnect is that many people want him to focus on terror, but his personal agenda has always caused his focus instead to be on Iraq, and I personally am very fearful for the future of this country as a result of that.

Agree with everything you said

I believe they will definitely find a way to twist it if some are found guilty. Under no circumstances will they admit that this administration could possibly do anything wrong.
