The essence of their outrage is hijacked by just plain hatred.

hatred of Bush, anything to do with Bush. The mere mention of his name causes the bile to rise and the red mist to engulf them.  They hate, hate, hate.  They blame, blame, blame. It's what they do.  There is no having conversations with them.  They don't see reason. They don't see fairness.  They see nothing but hate.

Not hatred, outrage because of blind loyalty, and I am an Independent....sm
Democrat who thinks for herself and does not have to swallow party lies, or cling to bad loyalties. America means we can ,and SHOULD think for ourselves, I may carry a party affiliation, but I go with my gut, my own intelligence, my instincts, and all the information and education I can get.....you can follow a party, but not into a burning building, as the Bush supporters do....we can all be independent, that is why we have this country, time to get away from that "US OR THEM" theology and be AMERICAN, blind party loyalty is just mass insanity.
Now you're just plain rude. To try to belittle someone while spewing hatred.
First, you don't know me. Your insinuating that I have a crutch to fall on (religion). Sorry to debunk your theory but I'm not religious. I don't believe in your god.

Second, I don't listen to any of the leaders. If you've read any of my posts I've always stated I don't trust any of the politicians. I also read a wide variety of articles and I have an open mind and listen to every possibility. When you just pick one side and won't listen to everything you cut yourself off from the truth.

Third, for you to say "the most hideous and evil deeds in history have been done by people like me?" That is just downright rude (and I would say your remarks are hideous and evil, and that's putting it nicely).

You sure are one piece of work. And all because of what? I posted a link with some facts about your candidate you didn't like? This is why I belong to no political party (and no religious party). You'd probably eat it up and praise me if I put something negative about McCain (which I have also done).

I agree with another poster that said intolerance is the worse religion.

I also agree with the moderator who has said no more attacks on people. You need to read that post. After this post you will no longer be in my thoughts.

Hope your proud of your hateful and cruel comments. We all have our opinions. Guess I'm just shocked because this I think has to be one of the worst posts I've read so far. Never knew anyone to be so cruel and evil for them to say such things.
Cheney 'cabal' hijacked foreign policy
Cheney 'cabal' hijacked foreign policy
By Edward Alden in Washington
Published: October 20 2005 00:00 | Last updated: October 20 2005 00:19

Vice-President Dick Cheney and a handful of others had hijacked the government's foreign policy apparatus, deciding in secret to carry out policies that had left the US weaker and more isolated in the world, the top aide to former Secretary of State Colin Powell claimed on Wednesday.

In a scathing attack on the record of President George W. Bush, Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, chief of staff to Mr Powell until last January, said: “What I saw was a cabal between the vice-president of the United States, Richard Cheney, and the secretary of defense, Donald Rumsfeld, on critical issues that made decisions that the bureaucracy did not know were being made.

“Now it is paying the consequences of making those decisions in secret, but far more telling to me is America is paying the consequences.”

Transcript: Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson

Mr Wilkerson said such secret decision-making was responsible for mistakes such as the long refusal to engage with North Korea or to back European efforts on Iran.

It also resulted in bitter battles in the administration among those excluded from the decisions.

“If you're not prepared to stop the feuding elements in the bureaucracy as they carry out your decisions, you are courting disaster. And I would say that we have courted disaster in Iraq, in North Korea, in Iran.”

The comments, made at the New America Foundation, a Washington think-tank, were the harshest attack on the administration by a former senior official since criticisms by Richard Clarke, former White House terrorism czar, and Paul O'Neill, former Treasury secretary, early last year.

Mr Wilkerson said his decision to go public had led to a personal falling out with Mr Powell, whom he served for 16 years at the Pentagon and the State Department.

“He's not happy with my speaking out because, and I admire this in him, he is the world's most loyal soldier.

Among his other charges:

■ The detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib and elsewhere was “a concrete example” of the decision-making problem, with the president and other top officials in effect giving the green light to soldiers to abuse detainees. “You don't have this kind of pervasive attitude out there unless you've condoned it.”

■ Condoleezza Rice, the former national security adviser and now secretary of state, was “part of the problem”. Instead of ensuring that Mr Bush received the best possible advice, “she would side with the president to build her intimacy with the president”.

■ The military, particularly the army and marine corps, is overstretched and demoralised. Officers, Mr Wilkerson claimed, “start voting with their feet, as they did in Vietnam. . . and all of a sudden your military begins to unravel”.

Mr Wilkerson said former president George H.W. Bush “one of the finest presidents we have ever had” understood how to make foreign policy work. In contrast, he said, his son was “not versed in international relations and not too much interested in them either”.

“There's a vast difference between the way George H.W. Bush dealt with major challenges, some of the greatest challenges at the end of the 20th century, and effected positive results in my view, and the way we conduct diplomacy today.”

Try again - Outrage should be with
Clinton/NAFTA - that's where it began. Unfortunately it continued on. GW may have not helped, but Clinton started it.

Shame on you for distorting facts.
Where was your outrage......
when Muslim men in this country beat and murdered their daughters and wives? Why didn't you call them Muslim terrorists? Religious zealots? Pleeze...... get off the "Christian" kick you seem to be stuck on. There are plenty of Muslims in this country who are true terrorists and hate you for no other reason than you are just an American, religion or not! The black men who were just arrested after the CIA caught them planning to blow up a building and now the other black man who converted to Islam and was trained by the jihad. Where is all your outrage about that? Please get your priorities in order!

This man should not have been killed. He would have had to answer to God sooner or later but your lack of compassion or outrage for the children murdered at his hands is quite telling!
The Death of Outrage.
Ever read it? Great book.  Bill Bennett wrote it.  It's very applicable to certain people.  You might not like it.  Well, anyway, what Bennett was doing (and he explained it) is what you would do in a hypothetical philosophical discussion.

I'll use a silly example: Suppose we were in the Star Wars galaxy, both former senators, sitting at a posh club on Coroscant drinking jin-jin juice. You happened to remark to me, You know, I hear it has been said in the Outer Rim that if we killed all the Jedi babies, there would be less mind control instances. Now, some ditz from the Tatooine Times-Picayune records us secretly and has it on MSNBCABCCBSNBCFOX channel on the Galactic Network. Except, they only playback this part,if we killed all the Jedi babies, there would be less mind control instances.  Would you still say it was stupid, ill-conceived of yourself to say that?  Bennett was alluding, of course, to Freakanomics, and if you don't know what that is, then you have no business even discussing this subject at all.  But if you DID know what that was, and you were of a mind to say, he should have mentioned Freakanomics often during the conversation, then I would ask you this.  Do you constantly say over and over in each sentence in a conversation any reference you are alluding to in a discussion?  Oh, I know how very bad many here want to portray Bill as a racist.  But he isn't.  Not that the truth will matter one iota to you.  Remember that stupid remark your HERO Bill Maher made on his show that got him yanked off the air?  Remember, he called Clinton a coward and the terrorists heroes.  He wasn't really serious, he was just kind of throwing it out there, but GOSH OH GOLLY people took him seriously and POOF he was gone. He's back, which is unfortunate, but I know how much you like him.  See, sometimes people say things in ways you really have to dig for the meaning.  I will give you that Bennett could have said what he said differently.  Hyperbole is wasted on people with concrete thinking (all Republicans are rich, The Democrats are the party of the poor).  What I WON'T GIVE YOU is that Bennett is a racist.  Because he isn't.

So sick of phoney outrage......

Maybe if ppl had half a brain, they would be outraged by real issues. Our constitution has been used as TP. Ignore your rights and they will just go away.

phony outrage coming from the

who no sexist outrage last week

when female commentator on Fox morning show made comment about Sara being nominated because she has  "t**s" (female mammary glands).  I saw the clip -- have heard no anguished cries from the conservatives about sexist on this one.

Yawn. More phoney outrage.

There was more outrage over the Dan Rather forgery than the yellow cake documents..sm
Pretty much sums up the state of affairs we find ourselves in.
Phoney outrage over baseless, debunked accusations

Reply to phoney outrage over Chicago politics is on message.
from which so many repugs on this board suffer and the silence they maintain on W's reign of terror and corruption.
Love how outrage against genocidal statements is deemed "political correctness" by the Right.
How absolutely low can they go.
They can't, sam, or just plain don't want to. nm

And you are just plain genious - right??? sm
Widge, I was as nonconfrontational as not to even post my opinion under your comment to heartsick, and I'm the dingbat just because you don't like my opinion. LOL. Go for something more original next time.

Seriously, you are not the only person I have heard say that, or else I would not have paid it much attention. That statement has become government policy, rhetoric, whatever you want to call it on Iraq, which would be agreeable if it were directed to our efforts against the Taliban in Afghanistan. The people who attacked us on 9-11 followed us into Iraq, not the other way around. You were there in the beginning so you know that is true.

The jury is still out on whether Iraq is a safer and better place as a result of the war, but I hope you are right.

It may come as a surprise to you, but I don't want us to up and leave the Iraqi people stranded either. We owe them more than that, even though we have given much already. I don't want two generations from now to be fighting a stagnant war in Iraq either. The other points you brought up are either debatable or agreed.

Sam, you are just plain wrong. That is just...sm
more republican propaganda.
There's plain ol' rich, and then there's
Like yer Wall Street execs, bank CEO's, etc. Even worse our this nation's spoiled, mollycoddled pro athletes.

Does any of their wealth trickle down to us? Nope. The more tax breaks and loopholes they get, the more we have to take up the slack and fill in the gaps.

If they can pay a football player $38 million to play a stupid game, then I think those of us who actually work for a living should at least get a few more cents per line.
Now this is just plain ignorant
Of course we'll be taxed REGARDLESS of which figurehead gets put in office.

Get a clue though my friend, the REpublicans are NO friend to the average working JOE (plumber or otherwise). Do you for a New York second think the party who represents the RICH is really going to come to the aid of the middle and lower class? Give that a rest. Democrats are a hair better and that is NOTHING to brag about.

And while you 're at, how about documenting the bill in which you Obama voted to pass - so that we can read the details for ourselves. We can do our own research but if YOU are goign to make claims like this you at least have to tell us thebill in question, and WHERE you got your information.

Plain and simple............
If you're black or minority in this country, you can run your mouth all you want and make racial jokes and say nasty things and we are all supposed to look the other way but if you make a joke or say anything that is remotely considered racial (which is anything when speaking of someone black), then AL Sharpton and every other nutjob comes out of the wood work to run their huge mouths. No one is going to probably do anything about Letterman, because he is a loud mouth liberal piece of crap and Palin seems to be an obsession with him. Why doesn't he make nasty jokes about the Obama girls and see where that gets him. For that matter, why is everyone in such an uproar over the gorilla remark if blacks and liberal whites are allowed to get by with their nasty racial and biased remarks?

Always a double standard! They want their cake and eat it too!
LOL! Either desperate or just plain sloppy.

Are THEY just plain stupid or do they think WE are?

I think a lot of the naysayers or just plain green...
She's got so much going for her, and you all are so jealous of her, that you just can't stop yourselves from been mean with green envy.

She's got it all.....she knew how to make it happen for herself, and just went and did it.

Not even can say that, now can they?
Not 'scared'. Just plain p!ssed-off, after
watching Dubya and his little friends do more harm to this country and its citizens in 8 years than it will be able to recover from in 20.

And you're just plain rude to her again and again...sm
Didn't the moderator tell you guys to stop it, for like, the umpteenth time this past week?

Leave sam alone, geez.

Because it's a lie, pure, plain and simple...
We do have free speech but it is wrong to make things up about people. Didn't your mom teach you that? The stuff about Palin and Bush are facts. What you put about Obama being compared to Hitler is trouble making slander and liable and hateful. I won't even respond to you anymore on this board because it gives attention to a person who doesn't deserve it. All I can say is OBAMA WON AND THAT MEANS THE MAJORITY WANTED HIM SO TOUGH NOOGIES.
You're being just plain ridiculous.
x
Say what you like, this country is plain giddy
and I am right along with others in Obama being sworn in tomorrow. Even other countries are anticipating the new person being there. Bush has been a disaster for dealing with other nations and I personally am so happy and yes, giddy, that Obama already has such a high rating and as being seen by people who they now feel can perhaps get this country back in shape. People who are still fighting amongst themselves really need to stop and take heed. He is here, the majority are very happy and bashing him is doing no good. I am taking off tomorrow and seeing my new President sworn in!
This is just plain crap - see message
Anytime anyone says anything that doesn't elate the messiah you scream racism.

Statement - "I don't like his policies". Your reply - "your a racist".

Statement - "The people he picked for his cabinet are not qualified" - Your reply - "your a racist".

Statement - "He lied to us in his campaign. Offered us hope but there is no hope." - Your reply - "your a racist".

Statement - "We're tired of him spending money that hasn't even been printed yet". Your reply - "your a racist".

Statement - "It's about time we have someone of a different race in the WH". Your reply - "Right on. I agree with you."

This racist bull is getting old and so untrue, but whenever you can't argue with something you scream racism. GET OVER IT! We have. Enough with this "racism" thing. If you can't bring a conversation then just don't say anything, but please spare me with the racism crap.
Dem, you're just a plain dingbat. What I meant and what

you should have been able to process is that I would rather war not occur on US soil.  Saddam brutally murdered mass numbers of people. I believe he had WMD, but it doesn't matter what I think or what other people think because the proof that he did have WMD was clear with the murder of all those people.  Take a look at some of the few survivors and see that scars that remain.  Oh, and let's not forget about one of his favorite pasttimes, beheading. That sick SOB had connections in several countries and was a serious threat to every single country on the planet.  A person has to be absolutely stupid to think that all going to Iraq was and is about is oil. The people of Iraq are liberated, they're free, they're voting, all things they never dreamed of having under Saddam's rule.  Are there still problems with insurgants? Absolutely. Change doesn't happen overnight, it takes time and that's why our men and women are still there.  Their job isn't done.  If you ask service people what they think, they'll tell you the same thing.  My cousin, by marriage, is a major in the Army, been in the service for 18 years, and knows that it's not time for President Bush to pull the troops out yet.  So, now that I've posted my 2 cents, I'm going to add that I'm not Republican, I'm not Democrat, I don't vote by party, I vote by who I think will get the job done. I mentioned that because I don't want readers thinking that I MUST be a Republican just because of what I posted.

just plain rude - keep 'em coming

Obama is just trouble....plain and simple.

There are so many things that I don't agree with him on.  You can't raise taxes for small businesses in this time of crisis.  You can't have all of these government assisted programs and only tax the rich because that won't be enough to cover all the expenses.  He will have to tax us all including the middle  class which he professes to want to help even though "spreading the wealth" will keep us down in the middle class because we won't be able to afford to make it into the upper tax bracket.  Basically his plans are aimed to help the lowlife scum who don't want to work.  As for his healthcare......like Oldtimer said below.....you can't make insurance companies pay for pre-existing conditions like that.  If no one wants to pay for health insurance until they have a major illness.....these insurance companies are supposed to pay for a pre-existing condition when this person is just now paying insurance premiums.  The insurance companies won't have any money to pay out if that is how it will work because no one will want to pay for insurance until something major happens.  It just won't work that way because it can't.

Obama is a socialists through and through.  I'm tired of the media and his supporters ignoring his associations.  I'm tired of people throwing up the race card.  It is just absolutely ridiculous.  Just because I'm a white woman not voting for Obama....that doesn't make me racist.  Yet you never hear about the people voting for Obama just because he is black.....is that not also racist?

This whole election is just screwed up.  I hope to God that this next debate has something in it worth watching and I hope McCain tears Obama a new butthole!

Being called gay is an insult, plain and simple.
It's even used in popular slang as an insult, i.e. 'that's gay'. They are NOT accepted in mainstream society or they wouldn't have to be making such a stink right now trying to become accepted. It is deviant behavior, and deviant behavior should not be legal. Whatever you do behind your own closed doors is your business, but that's where it should stay.

Well, I gotta tell ya - nothing is more creepy to me than Ann Coulter - now that's plain SCARY!

It was a witch hunt plain and simple. But the bad thing about it???
He just commuted their sentences. They will not get their jobs back again because they were not pardoned. I did not know there was a difference, but evidentally there is. So....they might be walking free, but who's going to pay all the bills? And make up for all the missing family times? Not Bush 2 that's for sure. Nor the "Anointed One." He has his own set of problems.

Protocol, etiquette (and plain good sense)

Is there no one advising the prez & co. on protocol and/or etiquette or even basic manners anymore?

When you bow to a monarch, you are  placing yourself as one of his subjects, or at least as subordinate in rank.

On the other hand (no pun intended)  when a gentleman meets a lady, (not just a queen) it is proper for him to wait for the woman to initiate contact.  A man waits for the woman to extend her hand for shaking...or not.  And only a dolt of either gender puts his/her arm around somebody to whom s/he has just been introduced.  Puh-leeze!

I know that some adjusments have been made in the business setting, but this does not take the place of knowing the proper thing to do in a social or political situation.  I do not think the rules of manners and civility have changed overnight, have they?

It was a campaign trip abroad, dear sm....plain and simple.
perhaps he accomplished what you say he did, in your eyes. But it was definitely a political trip. A global political trip, no doubt about it.

McCain is ancient history. I'm kinda glad he didn't get elected, as he's shown his true colors of late.

And your third paragraph? Nice try, dear.
au contraire.....what they do on the conservative board is bash the left....plain and simple. I thi
..
Well of hatred???
Extremist talking point. Do you realize that this entire plan of attack, i.e. liberals hate this and hate that and ooze this and ooze that and spew this and spew that requires not one iota of rational or analytical thought. It is simply responding to just about anything a liberal says with bumper sticker talk, no cognitive thought going on whatsoever. It is becoming tiresome.
No hatred
for a group of people but a nasty, immoral type of behavior. There is a difference.
Hatred
for immoral acts is not a sin.
I don't see her as being consumed by hatred.

From her posts, it's clear that she's a very compassionate, kind, intelligent person who is capable of thinking independent thoughts.  She cares about people who need help in this country.  Nobody who is consumed by hatred can do that.

She's expressed fear and concern and frustration at this administration and where it's taking us, and she expressed anger at the person who's leading us in that direction.  She's not alone.  An increasing number of Americans feel the same way.

The only person I see consumed by hatred is YOU.  You've repeatedly littered this board with your hateful posts.  It's very easy to see who the hateful people are.

I suggested below that you/all the others (assuming there really is more than one) should be ignored. You contribute nothing to this board but anger, rage, hatred and skewed thinking.

Having said that, I won't bother reading/responding to your posts any more.  It's simply not worth it because you don't want to debate.  All you want to do is attack others.

I pity you.

River of hatred???

If Michael Moore has tapped into the river of hatred of the Democrats, what about a guy like Rush Limbaugh? What has he tapped into, the river of good will of the Republicans?

Elections are held every two years, and this election the people chose a majority of Democratic candidates.  I for one am glad that they did if for no other reason than it will bring new perspectives into a government that has been completely controlled by one party.  Further hope is that it may bring changes that work to the good of all of us.

I did not say river of hatred....
I said Michael Moore tapped into hatred and that liberals are on a river of denial...and I believe that. Why else would the very first thing they announced was that they planned to investigate Bush and corruption (not corrupt Democrats, just corrupt Republicans) and at least two have posted on the liberal board that they think terrorism should be on back burner to investigating Bush. Something is VERY, VERY wrong with that line of thinking, and that stems from hatred and revenge, certainly not any concern for this country.
You are so consumed by hatred
nm
Me too. Am so tired of their hatred.
nm
I did check. It is much more hatred for the right
nm
