Freudian slip...........sm
Should have been KOOL aid...not KOOK aid.......but then again...............
Perhaps it was a freudian slip...

Maybe a Freudian slip? Maybe he feels like a prisoner with...sm
his campaign not going as well as he would like to say it kindly.
Freudian slip. Meant unimpeachable source.
sm
If customary deference to a sitting president by president elect
for the rest of us who understand such concepts as respect and traditional protocol, it would qualify as a darned good reason.
I think that what a president-elect does ......
does in the first days of his president-elect days, is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than the 10000 series of the soap opera 'Days of our lives', or whatever......
He's not even president elect yet
So it's just posturing. Oooohh....he's assembled a panel. I'm impressed.

Not.

Actually he's not president-elect yet
I know it's odd to think of it, but he has not yet been nominated by the electoral college, therefore is still just a citizen. Once the electoral college votes on Dec 13th, then in January the congress votes. Then if he is elected then he will be president elect. Until then he is still just a citizen. This is why they are trying to clear up whether or not he is elegible to become present. There are many many lawsuits, several in many states who are filing a lawsuit because he won't show proof of his eligibility. So until the congress votes in January Obama is still just a citizen and not president elect yet.
Never before has a president-elect...sm
Sought to elevate himself to POTUS status before actually occupying the Oval Office. Obama has put himself in the media forefront by trying to enact policy before taking office, therefore making himself a target for criticism. As Bush said in his last press conference, he knows there are people who dislike him and people who disagree with him; it's just part of the job. No President in history has been able to escape the slings and arrows of his constituents simply because of the nature of his job and the fact that people will always find something to complain about; it's just in their nature. Obama will be under scrutiny, yes, but I doubt it will be any more critical an examination than Bush has had to endure.
Office of the President Elect...

http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/obama_president_elect_/2008/11/10/149643.html

Obama Invents 'Office of the President-Elect'

Barack Obama has created a stir by proclaiming that he heads “The Office of President-Elect” — an office that does not officially exist.

At his first news conference on Nov. 7, Obama stood at a podium bearing a sign that read: “Office of the President-Elect. Also, his Web site, Change.gov, bears the words “Office of the President-Elect” at the top of its home page.

Writer Larry Anderson referred to the “made-up little title” on the American Thinker Web site, and declared: “I nearly busted a gut ...

“Once again, [Obama] can’t wait to invest himself with the trappings of office.”

Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin wondered: “What other make-believe offices are they going to invent between now and Inauguration Day? I can’t ever recall in my lifetime any mention of such an office.”

Technically speaking, Obama may not even be the President-elect, according to the American Sentinel Web site.

“Megalomaniac Obama’s ego grows even more insufferable,” a weekend posting reads.

“Yes, he will be [president-elect]. But he’s not officially yet, until the Electoral College votes.

“The Constitution provides that on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December, electors convene in their respective state capitals. It’s then that they formally elect the President of the United States, based on the general election results.”

The Nov. 7 news conference did not mark the first time Obama has created controversy with a podium.

Back in June, he spoke at a podium bearing a new seal that altered the official presidential seal.

The seal did include the American bald eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, but the Latin phrase “E Pluribus Unum” was changed to “Vero Possumus,” a rough translation of the Obama campaign slogan, “Yes we can.”

Obama’s seal also removed the shield over the eagle’s breast, representing the president’s oath to defend the Constitution, and replaced it with the letter “O,” presumably for Obama, and the image of the rising sun.

Get over it. He is the president elect by a majority vote. nm
.
He is not supposed to attend since he's only the President-elect.
This summit is for leaders of the country, not leaders that will be.
Rahm Emanuel is not the president-elect....(sm)

If you pay attention to what Obama is doing right now this might make sense.  Obama is filling his cabinet not only with people who agree with him, but also people who disagree with him.  Presumably he's following the lead of Lincoln who did this with his cabinet members.  The conclusion I come up with is that just because Rahm said it doesn't necessarily mean it will be law.

Is Newt your president? Lets stick with the present
There is about to be an explosion of spending and for those that really do work and think they won't be paying taxes, think again! You could only use half your brain or whatever is lucid and understand the ONLY way to pay for that kind of spending is by EVERYONE who works to pay taxes.

You really need to get off your one-party tunnel vision way of thinking, and I would say think like an individual, but I can see you are a follower of Obama, and as we all know, most of them have never thought for themselves.

I'm an independent......sure as heck didn't want a totalitarian government in power and if I had to choose between Newt and that backside kisser we have in office now, I'd choose Newt....

Too bad we're stuck with Obama and his crooked cronies!!

I feel it safe to say you have never had an independent thought in your life.....

I were you I would not call the present US president 'naive and stupid.' nm
nm
PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA ! ! ! ! ! !
x
Get it right...President-elect Barack Obama stated it
was people's choice if they chose to have an abortion.  Nevertheless, you live in america and he is your president as well, just go ahead and face the fact.  It does not matter whether you trust him or not, he is your president, RESPECT him as such!!!!!!!
technically not even president-elect until electoral college meets. nm
.
and I believe she will. When Clinton ran for president...
with the same credentials she has, a governorship...he didn't jump right in and give interviews either. He had to sit down with advisors and bone up on areas he was not as well versed in, because he came from state politics, not national politics. That happens in every case. It happened with Obama. He didn't sit down for interviews with someone who would really ask him questions until this week and he has been running for 18 months. She has been running for a week.

I would like to post some questions to Obama too. About teaching the Alinsky method of organizing. About William Ayers. About his early days in Chicago politics. I would like to ask a lot of questions more important than books in a library in wasilla alaska. But you will NEVER hear the mainstream media ask him those questions. Ever. They protect him, and they attack her.

So much for fairness in American journalism. What a joke.
We could have had him when Clinton was President....
before the towers came down. He decided not to take the Sudan up on their offer to deliver him. If you are going to lay blame, blame all involved.
I'm not saying Clinton was a good president ...

but you are wrong, he was not impeached.

But I know how you feel, I feel the same way every time I see the current Pres. Bush, and am starting to feel that way about McCain.  There is just something about that man that doesn't sit right with me.  And if I was a Republican I wouldn't necessarily change my party, but I would not necessarily be voting with it either.

When Clinton was president, we had no need to borrow..sm
We had a big surplus and the economy rebounded after a major slump during the Bush I term. It took several years for Bust II to use up the surplus and put us into debt again, while Americans are losing their jobs and cooporate executives are earning record profits and benefits, stock options etc., while people are losing their retirement savings. Borrowing since the 80s. Who was president in the 80s? Bush and Reagen thats who.
Name me one good thing Bill Clinton did as President

I voted for Clinton when he first ran agains Bush Sr.  After six months of him as president and what I saw happening to the country I re-registered as republican.  Every time that man or his wife had their face on the TV I muted it.  I cannot tell you why, but hearing his voice or seeing his face literally made me nausous.  (I should have invested in Pepto Bismol stock and would have made a fortune because of all the Pepto I went through).  I still believe for 8 years we had no president.  Just someone sitting in the office, but we didn't have a real leader.

Now I keep hearing how everyone praises Bill Clinton and what a great president he was (even though he was impeached).  So I would like to hear from people and name one thing that was good that he did so I could possibly have a different opinion of him.  The really odd thing is everytime his face is in the news I get that sick nauseous feeling again and still have to mute him and look away.

The hair just stands up on my neck and I really feel like I am looking at what evil is (and I'm not religious, but he just gives me a creepy feeling), so please tell me something good about him.

You have that completely backwards, it was President Clinton's administration that had a balance
for the firs time in modern history; not only that, there was a government surplus. George came, and I think you can following the bouncing ball here....trillions of dollars in deficit left behind...talk about rewriting history!!!! I wish people would stop making ludicrous statements without one work to back it up............
"Blue-blooded" (must be a Freudian) Americans for you are
bigots, lobbyists up to their eyeballs in subprime and condescending, cluless politicians who assess the meltdown as a mental recession and call taxpayers "whiners"?

But, of course, they are. That explains why you buy into the myth about "middle-eastern terrorists (who have killed thousands of innocents) and calling them his friends, or for that matter, home grown terrorists who are his friends."

By the way, did I miss a slur along the way? Which Middle-Eastern terrorist who has killed thousands of innocents is Obama friends with now? This is a new one on me. Please enlighten.
Not a slip - he was having brunch with OBL
Yes, you heard that correctly. I guess I should have added that because the two were having brunch that morning you could have called that "freaky".

I was and still am totally offended by the original posters remarks (see my latest post but with the name of "me") - I wrote that.

I am offended by the comparison, but people want to keep writing about it defending it. What you see as "freaky", I see as "vile and offensive". I would be equally as offended if someone made a comparison between John McCain and some horrible person. People may see the similarities (I never thought about it) but we certainly don't need to bring them up unless of course your for one side and want to plant OBL's name with Barack and Joe's so that people will somehow think the two together. And believe me, I've seen enough Youtube and read enough articles to know there are some people in this country who aren't quite "up on events" who think because the name sounds similar they must be connected somehow.

I can't tell you how upsetting this post has been. I forget where I saw this, but on some website somewhere I saw someone who was an "Obama fan" that had a picture of John McCain & some horrible person that looked similar to McCain and I think they titled it "coincidence?" I also commented on that site saying I found it offensive they would try to connect the two because they looked alike.

So when we're talking about two decent men (and some not so decent traits for both of them), but they are running for President and I don't know which I would vote for yet, I don't need any "coincidence" or "freaky" comments.
Oops - my slip it was OBL's brother - thanks for correcting me
On Sep 11, the morning of the attack, Bush Sr. meets with members of the Carlyle Group in Washington. Bin Laden's own brother was at the meeting.

Sorry about the mixup, thanks for pointing it out.
The Muslim slip-up in full context

He didn't say he made a mistake, at least not directly after speaking the phrase, but please listen to the video and decide for yourself.  It has been taken out of context.

I think you like to present yourself

as being right and more knowledgeable than anyone on this board about almost everything that you address; much more important than *keeping things real.**   You want all of us to make note that you are right, more informed, more well read, more educated on just about everything that is discussed here...OKAY, you got it!!!, Enjoy it.

I still believe my friend, not because the cost of gas in CA is really that important, but because she is my friend and I have no reason not to believe her and even more, she has no reason to make it up, we were not discussing anything remotely related to energy or conservation; it was just a passing comment on her part as we drove past the local Chevron. But it seems to be quite important to you so, as I said, I will defer to you and all of your many resources in the future. No prob.

I believe I used the word *present*. nm
,
birthday present
I just wanted to make sure I was giving the correct information. This was for her birthday last year. He bought her earrings that cost $5,000 and she exchanged them for earrings that cost $12,000. She checked with her husband and he came back in and bought the earring for $12, 000.
OMG! Are you serious? Go ahead, elect O
nm
To be fair to the present administration..

There hasn't been a SINGLE PRESIDENT willing to address the borders.  I wish Bush would get off his duff about the border too, but if he did put a military clamp down on our border, you'd have a huge uproar from the civil liberties camp.  You can never make everybody happy.

As for spending... Most Democrats never met a dollar they didn't want to spend.  Wanna have your hair stand on end?  Read a synopsis of The Big Dig in Boston, a la Kennedy and Kerry.  Talk about a money pit at the taxpayers expense.  If only it were a perfect world, but it never will be.

Does anyone else see a clear and present danger?

You mean the other women who dare to present
Americans are not a monolith.
He does not present the certificate that states the

You mean "proud of your pres-elect" (nm)

well, if you elect Obama and he raises...
capital gains taxes you sure won't have to have a card reader....your 401K is going to sufferrrr. lol.
do u realize he is actually not even "president elect" yet?
.
God did not elect Obama. The people did.

Some  the people who voted for O did it because of his promises. Three-quarters of the people  voted for him because of his color.  That's not fabricated, it's the truth.

I, for one, did not vote for him and it was not because of his color. I couldn't care less what color he is. If I did, I'd start posting about how he is half white. That's not the point. I don't know why some people on this board spout racisim just because someone did not vote for him.

I didn't vote for him because of his promises. Like all politicians, he made promises that are impossible to keep. He won the election because most of the voters thought he was sincere and would turn this country around in a heartbeat. I believe there are a lot of voters who will be the first to gripe when it doesn't happen. But then, again, that's just my opinion.  I am willing to give him a chance but I surely don't like being called a racist just because I did not vote for him.

People have to start looking at RECORDS of the people they are voting for; i.e., voting records, any bills they sponsor and why, etc., etc.,  not listening to the spiel. I learned that quite a few years ago and I will not vote for someone who blind sides the public with glorious ideas without a thought as to what could happen down the road.

A president and/or any respresentative of the people has to hold the constiuents thoughts in mind when they are voting. I haven't seen that happen since before Carter. People have to GET INVOLVED in their government by writing to their reps. Otherwise, the reps think everything is honkey-dorey. I, myself, write to my reps a lot.  Sometimes I get a canned reply, sometimes I get a "I will be looking into this" type letter.

Well, I see I just tried to give a lecture, so I'll get off my soap box for now....but remember this: Government is only as good as the people. Keep quiet and they will keep doing the same old, same old. Understand what I'm saying?

Oh, he knows. "You elect me", I will find
nm
When you can't defend the present why do you always bring up the past?

Well pardon me, but how can you discuss the present without a history of sm
what shaped it?  It isn't possible.
I am posting here to present a differing view...
just like the liberals who post on the conservative board. This IS America, my friend. We do have the right to do so. Why is a different opinion so aggravating to you? I have read, and heard from liberals own lips, what liberals stand for. There are a few of you who post on this board who are the antithesis of that, sooooo....why are YOU posting here and what does it matter who else does?
Obama refuses to present an official
!1
The present mess has nothing to do with George Bush...
and everything to do with Mr. Dodd and Mr. Frank and the other Democrats who consistently blocked reforming of Fannie and Freddie. They deserve most of the credit for this fiasco.
Sorry - we didn't elect him to bow to the leader of another country
If he's an american citizen he should not be bowing to the Saudi leader, or the Queen. He doesn't bow to G. Brown, or the leader of France, Italy, or any of those other country. You bow to someone if you are a servant to them.

He is not doing what we elected him to do and we certainly didn't elect him to bow. I feel sorry for you.
Even most liberals present thought it was poor taste.
x
The present crisis was not caused by Bush or McCain...
both approached the Democrats a total of 4 times trying to get Fannie/Freddie regulated. We can't afford Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, AND a Democratic president. Whatever else Bush is or is not, he is NOT responsible for this current financial MESS.
Whoa, that is actually like a Christmas Present from the IRS, what an unheard of concept!!!....sm
True, you can do it yourself, the IRS just makes so daunting and intimidating with all those forms, and then you worry if you make another mistake, you will get another penalty.....Just those three letters together give most folk the heebie geebies.

Also, taling about not needing a service, most people do not know that you DO NOT need those miriad of services who will "talk down your credit bills" and renegotiate. Especially in these times, banks are very eager to get payment and work with you, most banks have a "hardship" department where you can talk to reps who can negotiate lower settlements, eliminate fees, figure out a very good payment plan without fees, etc. You can do it yourself without paying a debt relief service.
If you elect Obama....you are giving the power to the party...
who are largely responsible for the "mess" we currently find ourselves in.
