If the information she has to offer upsets you this much...

....perhaps you should debate with the folks on the conservative board who will agree with you and pat you on the back.  Perhaps your anger with gt is not about her, but about you (to paraphrase the mental health folks).

No, your lack of compassion upsets me. sm
You need to think about THAT.
This is the kind of thing that upsets me...sm
about republicans. These types of things are not priority to them anyhow, so I'm sure this is not even an after thought to our powers that be.

Iraq in 2003 was the least of our worries.
the whole mortgage thing upsets me...sm
I have a subprime mortage and have had for over 3-1/2 years, but I make my payments on time every month. I can't even get a refinance to go through with almost $40,000 in equity in the house and only needing a loan for $85,500, as I put down a big down payment when I bought the house, but if I had an ARM or was in foreclosure there are programs that would put me in a new mortgage. So, here I am trying to take care of my bills, be a productive citizen, and I get no help. Makes lots of sense don't it.
So you can't translate this either? All you have to offer is
Please elaborate.
Can I offer you some Kool-Aid?
x
Than offer something constructive...
instead of whining about what you don't like. That's all we hear is whining and complaining without any solutions or suggestion that you feel would be a better way to go. Not only that, are you privy to the same information that President and Obama and his cabinet are privy to? Are you qualified to pass judgment on anything that he does when you don't have all the facts? Would you like some cheese with your whine?
May I be the first to offer resounding bipartisan
x
Every time we offer a suggestion
we get laughed at and told we are asking for handouts.

I still believe that the best way to revive the banks is to go through the homeowners. Isn't bailing out and giving money to the big buisnesses still essentially trickle down economics? It's going to take too long for this stimulus to reach the average citizen. By then too many people will be without a job/home/food, etc.

So you have nothing to offer when it comes to defending Bennett's statements...sm
as you posted earlier that they were taken out of context. When asked to enlighten us on the context, you instead want to take Zauber to task. I know why, because there is no defense for these statements and a sound minded person wouldn't even try. Even the dupes on capitol hill are criticizing the statements.
Yeah, I'll BET you "work with" them. You offer
away from any others that might be out there. I've seen your kind practicing what amounts to terrorism in front of our local Planned Parenthood clinic.

Based on all the propaganda you've been spewing the last week or so, I don't believe one word of what you just wrote about 'helping' women.

You so-called 'pro-life' enthusiasts are just a buncha self-righteous, old-world, Bible-belt hags, nothing more.

What facts did you just offer to encourage me to vote your way? nm
x
But they didn't offer racism and bigotry....
__
In a prior post I made the following offer:

.....no amount of money would induce me to volunteer to be tortured (you know, beaten cut, burned - severe pain or harm).  But cut me a check (certified only, please) with a number followed by a whole lot of zeros and I would be waterboarded (strictly in the interest of science).  Our special forces are trained to withstand this and other 'harsh' interrigation techniques......  It's scary and unpleasant but way different from having your fingernails pulled out or a field generator and alligator clips used.

I had in mind more like $500,000, but yeah, for enough money I would certainly consider that an offer I couldn't refuse.

dr's urge america to accept cuba's offer
Doctors Urge US To Accept Cuba's Offer Of 1586
Disaster-Trained Doctors

By Ken Thomas
Associated Press Writer
9-8-5

ATLANTA (PRNewswire) -- A prominent U.S. medical group
voiced deep concern over delays in health care and
epidemic prevention reaching Katrina victims, and
urged U.S. authorities to accept Cuba's offer of 1586
disaster-trained physicians to prevent a second wave
of sickness and death.

Latest reports indicate the U.S. State Department is
backing away from the offer, implying they are not
needed.

Up to this point, there been a clear need for more
medical help for Katrina victims, said Peter Bourne,
MD, Chairman of MEDICC and former special adviser on
health in the Carter White House and former Assistant
Secretary General at the United Nations. The Cuban
physicians are accustomed to working in difficult
third-world conditions without the resources and
supplies most of us are accustomed to. Since they are
just an hour away, it is a shame that they have not
been allowed to join our committed medical corps
already.

He is joined by other physicians, medical educators,
international health experts and a former U.S. surgeon
general associated with MEDICC, Medical Education
Cooperation with Cuba. From 1998 through 2004, MEDICC
has provided medical electives in Cuba for nearly 1000
students and faculty from 118 U.S. medical, public
health and nursing schools.

Cuba has been recognized by the UN, Oxfam and other
international organizations as a leader in disaster
response, expertise that could be saving lives now,
said Doctor William Keck, former long-time director of
the Akron, Ohio Department of Public Health.

A 2004 Oxfam Report, Weathering the Storm: Lessons in
Risk Reduction from Cuba, states that there are real
lessons to be learned from Cuba on how to safeguard
lives during extreme natural disasters, including
getting medical attention to vulnerable populations.
The report can be found at
http://www.oxfamamerica.org/cuba.

On Tuesday, August 30, Cuba first offered U.S.
authorities hurricane relief in the form of 1100
disaster-trained bilingual physicians, each equipped
with 52-pound pound backpacks of medical supplies,
including rehydration therapy, insulin,
anti-hypertensives, and medications for systemic and
topical infections.

On Saturday, September 3, Cuba increased the offer to
1586 doctors, ready for immediate deployment and
prepared to stay as long as necessary to help wherever
needed. A Cuban spokesperson said that as of today
there has been no official response from the U.S.
government.

Cuban disaster relief experience spans 45 years,
mainly in hurricanes faced by the Caribbean island and
in coping with disasters confronted by other
developing countries. Another nearly 25,000 Cuban
health professionals provide longer-term health care
services in 68 countries, under
government-to-government agreements.

Cuba trains 10,500 medical students from 27 countries
at its Latin American Medical School -- 65 of them
from poor and minority communities in the USA. (See
The New England Journal of Medicine, 2004;
351:2680-82.)

What an irony that the first U.S. MD to graduate from
the school this August is a young African American
from New Orleans, said Diane Appelbaum, RN, NP, MS.
He just passed the U.S. medical boards and is eager
to fulfill the commitment he made in exchange for his
free education from Cuba to serve the very
poverty-stricken areas now devastated.

Cuba, please see MEDICC's on-line journal, MEDICC
Review at

Risk.

MEDICC (Medical Education Cooperation with Cuba) is a
non-profit organization based in Atlanta. MEDICC is
committed to maintaining institutional and educational
links between the U.S. and Cuban medical communities.

Review, reporting on Cuba's medical and public health
programs, available at

Remarkable how a child's viewpoint can often offer wisdom

You call that an excuse? There are plenty of churches that offer those things!! nm

So we offer substandard wages and attract more people to welfare???...sm
More of your tax dollars are being spent there than at McDonalds or whatever, if we do not get more people working, we also have LESS people paying into the tax system, both federal and state, which subsidises OTHER necessitites. And people complain about the immigrant workers taking jobs? Because of substandard wages and the increased benefit of being on Welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing, and Medicaide, it seems only immigrants WANT to do these insultingly low-paying jobs. I am talking about a wage where a family can be together, both parents are not working two jobs, and thus not taking care of the kids, another social problem, and employed taxpayers are also CONSUMERS who drive the economy, but if you are not making a living wage, you cannot participate in the economy. How is this wrong?

some information...

I had the privilege and honor of seeing Mother Teresa some years ago in D.C. The audience was made up of a few ordinary people and mostly political and/or media types. The woman did not mince words. She did not hesitate to tell everyone in the audience how she felt that intolerance, indifference, selfishness, materialism and consumerism, the treatment of and attitudes towards the poor, the sick, the imprisoned run rampant were things that incited people to take up arms against each other, to hate one another, etc. and that Americans might want to look a good look at themselves and give some thoughtful prayer to what part they may play in the situations they so despised. Some of the people were so moved by her that they talked to her about going to India. They wanted to work in her clinics, her hospitals, on the streets. She laughed out loud and I will never forget what she said. She said, and I quote, ** You do not have to go to another country to do God's work. Take a look around you. Man's inhumanity to man is evident everywhere. Go into your own cities and find the poor, the needy, the imprisoned, the sick, the haters with hardened hearts, whatever. They will always be with us and they are everywhere. I believe sincerely that peace is God's work, perhaps in the highest form. You think we live in peace here in this country; as Mother Teresa said, look around you. The war is but 1 faction of a very very sick society, a sick world. I was born into peace and nonviolence. I have practiced it all my life. Protests are really quite a small part of my nonviolent lifestyle. There is plenty enough hatred, violence, intolerance and indifference to keep the peacekeepers busy until the end of time, right where they live, wherever that may be.  We also unfortunately have, in this country, warmongering and war profiteering and people in power who could care less about exploiting our troops and whomever they may be fighting. War is a big money maker for some folks. I do protest here but these days it is mostly letters to the editor, letters to senators, clergy, manning phones, that sort of thing. Another thing I believe is that the Creator is the changer of hearts and minds, not men, and that prayer changes things. You asked what I did besides whine on the other board, where were my legs...you asked for it, here it is.

1. I train service dogs for the disabled. I do this for all sorts of people, some of whom happen to be veterans whose welcome home from their government is, in my opinion, nothing short of betrayal. The wonderful projects, facilities that have sprung up to help these vets are all and I mean ALL privately funded, quite a few of the dogs I train have been purchased or **sponsored** meaning covering all costs and it is quite expensive,  from the bleeding heart liberal pinko commies as you refer to us. They pay the fee, anywhere from $12,000 to $25,000 so that people who cannot afford it or whose government does not think them or their service  important enough to provide them everything they could possibly ever need can get something they desperately need. My portion of this 2-year training program is the last leg, the month where trainer, new owner and dog are put together to learn the mechanics of what they are doing together and to learn each other. At this point the dog, its care, individualized training, all vet bills have been paid for. Normally I charge for this month of training that I do one-on-one.  I have NEVER charged 1 red cent to any veteran for my services and I never will. This is one of the ways I support the troops but not the mission. You see, it can be done.

2.  I have belonged to a prayer and meditation for peace group since I was a child. If I go somewhere where I can't find one, I start one or I hook up with the Mennonites or Friends, the original civil disobeyers. We PRAY for peace, for everyone, everywhere.

3.  I work with St. Vincent de Paul (Catholic organization for the needy),

4.  I do meals on wheels (substitute only now, too busy with everything else),

5.  I go with a group of Indians to elementary schools throughout the Tampa Bay area in full regalia with drums, flutes and stories to share with them to try to give them a good honest look at indigenous people. This seems to be going over very well. We have more dates than we can actually handle. I am very proud to do this work.

Those are my legs and I have had them for a long time.  As I recall, this is our board, the L board, so I can post whatever I like and you don't have to read my posts because you always find fault with whatever I said but I will continue to **preach to the choir** as long as I feel like it because it is the liberal board and the liberals don't mind hearing about nonviolence. As Ghandi said, an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. And, for further perusal, here's a bit of history on Ghandi.

After one year of a none too successful law practice (in England), Gandhi decided to accept an offer from an Indian businessman in South Africa, Dada Abdulla, to join him as a legal adviser. Unbeknown to him, this was to become an exceedingly lengthy stay, and altogether Gandhi was to stay in South Africa for over twenty years. The Indians who had been living in South Africa were without political rights, and were generally known by the derogatory name of 'coolies'. Gandhi himself came to an awareness of the frightening force and fury of European racism, and how far Indians were from being considered full human beings, when he was thrown out of a first-class railway compartment car, though he held a first-class ticket, at Pietermaritzburg. From this political awakening Gandhi was to emerge as the leader of the Indian community, and it is in South Africa that he first coined the term satyagraha to signify his theory and practice of non-violent resistance. Gandhi was to describe himself preeminently as a votary or seeker of satya (truth), which could not be attained other than through ahimsa (non-violence, love) and brahmacharya (celibacy, striving towards God). Gandhi conceived of his own life as a series of experiments to forge the use of satyagraha in such a manner as to make the oppressor and the oppressed alike recognize their common bonding and humanity: as he recognized, freedom is only freedom when it is indivisible.

Aho.

Where did this information come from?....
the Obama website? I am not trying to start a fight either, but what makes this information any more accurate than the other poster's? Who has independently verified any of it?

The only one who knows how "indoctrinated" Obama is with the Muslim religion or how much he ascribes to it, supports it or it influences him, is Barack Obama. And I think anyone who thinks differently is fooling himself/herself.

As to the United Church of Christ...it has a flagrantly racist agenda, and regardless of what he says he has to know that if he was listening to any of the sermons...Jeremiah Wright did not wake up the morning of Obama's candidacy a racist and that church did not turn racist overnight...

Don't trust Obama. I have read up about his Chicago days and ties to Daly...the most corrupt political machine in the history of this country.

Nope, don't trust him. Not a bit.
Information is the key
Ladies/gentlemen, we can go back and forth on the candidates and their character, however, as we all know candidates can and will promise anything while running for president and promises are conveniently forgotton once in office.  To find out what is in a candidate's heart, read each party's platform which is easily assessible on the internet. The platform will let you know what the candidates will be focusing on once in office. Since each candidate's economic or tax plan really cannot be tested until they are in office, look for issues that concern you morally. Regardless of which candidate wins, let's vow to be united once it is over.
I believe you get your information
from blogs.
where do you get this information?
I have not heard anything whatsoever about this - can you give me something more?
Add the URL for this information.

Your information is so ignorant.....
of the real truth that is kind of scares me.  I am afraid that this is what the U.S. has become - a nation of ignorant lemmings who cannot read the information available and refuse to believe what has been documented over and over and over again....that we have been grievously misled by this administration.  PLEASE educate yourself, study multiple world-wide news and information sources from various political genres and THEN draw your conclusions.  And I can assure you, the conclusions may be painful and they will also be startlingly different from you currently hold to be true.
For your paranoid information sm
ALL blogs track ISP numbers.  You must not post a lot of places.  It's part of the software that comes with blogging and it also allows people to be banned who create a nuisance.   Having said that, I see a whole lot of posting here and it is not being removed.   An aspersion was cast as to whether I might be another post and using another name. It's easy enough to prove.  I have my own suspicions about a lot of the posters on here.  But I keep that to myself.  You aren't going to blog anywhere that isn't monitored.
I can't believe anyone actually compiled this information.
Things are worse than I thought.
Where did you get that information, if you don't mind....
and no pregnant 17-year-olds are involved in this question.
You have way too little time for information.
I don't know how to tell you this, but making an informed decision on how to vote is not a sound-byte proposition. The previous poster did the research for you. All you had to do is open your eyes (and your brain) and read it. There are important problems this nation faces and they have nothing whatsoever to do with pigs and lipstick. If voters do not take the time to understand what they are and vote personality over policy, they will end up getting exactly what they deserve. What makes this such a shame is that the rest of us will end up paying the price. For heaven's sake, become part of the solution, not part of the problem.
Very good information, thank you!
Music is pretty good too!
More information there if you bothered to look....
and much more recent than the Keating 5...4 of whom were democrats.
It was not a dead end. The information was there...
you just chose to ignore it, because it was not flattering to Obama. Period.
Wrong. Where the he!! do you get your information? nm
.
And you have this information on WHOSE authority?
international politics and Obama are not founded in reality and merit very little comment. Why don't you stick to your wait and see mode from yesterday. Bush is in office, it IS his problem, the Russian action is aimed at Poland, Bush will likely pass on his responsibility because the only thing he knows is "whup up" and "bring it on." The only problem with that is that he has nothing left to work with after all these years in Iraq, new fronts popping up all over the place. BTW, pehaps he has his own party-bound agenda in his nonresponse which may be underpinning the recent outbreak of air space violations and bombing campaigns in three separate sovereign countries in just as many weeks...Syria, Pakistan and Iran. The old saber-rattlesnake is not going quietly into the night and does not give a second thought to what kind of destruction he leaves in his path.
that was the information I read from day one -
Okay, here are at least 4 articles that are dated before this week that show that it is for college credit and it is not required - I am sure if you need more to prove that the REQUIRED part was not just changed this week, I can find more articles that are dated before this week - let me know if you need more...

Very interesting information.

To make matters even worse, every bit of my microscopic federal "tax break" has been more than eaten up by higher state sales taxes now, and of course that will get even worse when we start to see higher prices because higher prices mean higher sales taxes.

What the government giveth (to get silly people to vote for them), the government taketh away - and a little bit extra just for good measure.

Again, what is your solution to get information out
nm
In an effort to provide some information sm
I was on vacation when the posts were made, but a friend of mine copied them and sent them to me.  They were no exactly death threats, but under a post wishing President Bush Happy Birthday, there were two posts saying something to the effect that they hoped Bush died and burned in hell.   Also, every single thing you accuse conservatives of in this long post, every SINGLE thing, has been committed on this board by liberals.  You might also notice that most of the conservative posters have stopped coming over here, something the liberal posters have not been able to do, as their drive-by postings still appear sporadically and predictably.
She isn't supplying any information, Observor. SM
This is between gt and I and several other posters who she is telling we should not be concerned with something that seems to be more important to us that her.  Excuse me, but how dare she!   In fact, I have had many conversations with liberals on the conservative board.  You might want to check that out.  The rest of your post isn't worth addressing.  If someone doesn't agree with you, they are either lying, have a mental problem, are uninformed, or have an anger problem.  That speaks for itself.
No, the administrator is not giving me any information, nor would I ask. sm
I made a rejoiner when you once again accused me of something I didn't do (see above posts).  Have you got all the meat off this bone yet!
I had thought that such information was not available to the public.
This is a privacy issue, and therefore an ethical issue.  If such personal information as ISP numbers are freely availale to other posters on this board I would no longer wish to post here. And if this is the case it needs to be posted.
Do you have inside information on IP addresses!!! How is that possible!!!

What is going on here!   I can't believe this!!!!!

Sound familiar?

I have no inside information. That's my point.
None of us speak for all of us.
Your *information* was filled with insults...sm
Sorry I don't meet your level of debate.

Do you really rely on information from the Daily Kos?
.
but in that 24 hours important information
could get away. The NSA should be monitored, but 24 hours on wiretaps that need to be done right now is just not realistic for accurate intelligence gathering.

When you dial into a phone line you've just given up your right to privacy. You are not guaranteed privacy on phone lines owned by private companies. There is no privacy contract of any sort when you dial a phone. That's where the disconnect lies. Pardon the pun.
incorrect information, blanket

attack on all non-right wing media, and cut and paste from neocon website, all-in-all an otherwise mildly entertaining post. I give it 2 stars of  11 possible.

I found the same kind of information.
I don't know where some of these people are finding positive information about this stuff but it definitely sounds scary to me.  To me is sounds as racist as the KKK and I don't want part in either one.  Yes, that church may do a lot of things for the black community, but they still spew out hate messages.  If people are ignorant enough to believe that Obama doesn't agree with this.....nothing I say will change that ignorance.  You don't spend 20 years in a church, exposing your kids to that stuff, referring to the pastor as your mentor and then turn around and say that you don't agree with that.  If I don't agree with the pastor of a church and find his sermons disturbing....I stop going there.  The only reason Obama threw his pastor and mentor under the bus was to save his own political rear end.  End of story!
Can you post the sources for this information?
On the face of it, it does just look like rhetoric, he said she said...that is why I would like to check the sources. Also...as far as reform...she did get the good ol' boys (governor and many commission heads) booted out. That is fact. That is plenty of reform, taking on your own party and cleaning out corruption. Would that more on both sides would have that courage. :)
So you'd rather he trust Bush with the information
xx
This is a public board and any information that...sm
