and in many cases pedophiles are in positions of authority...teachers, day care workers and operators...probably more than we know, because priests are high profile and good media fodder. Most of the time with other pedophiles we don't find out what they do for a living...occasionally we will hear about teachers and day care providers...we hear about EVERY priest.

That is all I am saying.

As to covering for priests...I agree. The Catholic church should not have done that. But then again, people should not have allowed themselves to be bought off either. More should have gone the criminal route.

Just my two cents.

What about the pedophile Priests?
Where were all the heartwarming pictures of priests sexually abusing little alter boys with beautiful orchestration playing in the background in this religious propaganda piece?
Pedophile Priests
This is like the fox keeping track of the chickens, but here are some numbers for you. Please keep in mind that sexual crimes often go unreported, and this report was commissioned by the Catholic Church, so it is in their best interest to keep the numbers low.

The John Jay Report commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops was based on surveys completed by the Catholic dioceses in the United States. The surveys provided information from diocesan files on each priest accused of sexual abuse and on each of the priest's victims. That information was filtered, so that the research team did not have access to the names of the accused priests or the dioceses where they worked. The report presented aggregate findings. The dioceses were encouraged to issue reports of their own based on the surveys that they had completed. The Report found accusations against 4,392 priests in the USA, about 4% of all priests.
Not a "goofy post".The ratio of pedophile priests
