The most significant thing to me in the entire video is "Vote your conscience." That speaks volumes.

As the SNL church-lady would say, "Well now...
Not.
Religion doesn't belong in politics, Church-lady.

small message
It's easy to be gracious and appear to reach out to the other side - when you are the winner! I only fear what the OBama masses would have done if their candidate had lost .. a lot more than booing during the concession speech I fear.

I do agree on the republican party comments, however.

But I also think there were a lot of uneducated people who really thought through WHAT OBama said and consider how and when he was actually going to do any them, and even further, exactly how they will be paid for?

oh well. I will support him - he is our new president .. and will also do a lot of praying for our government ..

Small message ..
I will be fair..

I am patriotic ..

I (so far)am guaranteed freedom of speech and the freedom to have ideas of my own ...

I will not sit back and act like he is My Lord and Savior and I should worship his feet or the ground he walks on.

I will give him a chance .. truly

Just my 2 cents.
If a church - see message
doesn't want to hire you based on whether you were married in the church - well you probably don't want to work there in the first place.

I was married in the town hall by the Mayor of one of the cities in Denmark. Would they not consider that a marriage?

My belief is marriage is marriage. Call it what you want, it's still marriage. Two people love each other they should be able to be married no matter what gender, race, or anything. Calling it something else is discrimination - plane and simple.
Running from church to church is not the answer...sm

There are problems and controversy in every church.  I do not agree with things that go on in my church nor everything that my pastor says or does.  I have found that some churches problems are greater than the ones in your own church, so some times you have to be still.

Here's one for ya....Me along with plenty of other Americans don't agree with what our current President Bush has done in terms of running our country, starting a war, making history by putting every state in this country in a negative deficit, and I could continue to go on, but the point is even in our disagreement with him, we have not jumped up and ran to another country and we wonder why; running is not the answer.  First off it is not our place to condemn one, but since someone is being condemned for what was said, condemn the Rev. Wright, not Obama.

lady, get OVER the
obsession with EVIL and read some policy papers or something.
not all all - first lady is not an

elected position.  They basically serve as glorified housewife.  Clinton's experience comes from actual work experience with Nixon impeachment, Children's Defense Fund, and on and on and on.

Are you serious, lady?
It's okay because THE TASER WAS TURNED DOWN TO THE TETING SETTING? Shame on you! I hope you don't have any children. If you do, I hope somebody gets them into protective custody and soon!
OT but this lady is hysterical. sm

I found like 9 clips of her and my stomach hurts from laughing so hard.

thought it was first lady's

job to swap baby photos and serve tea to foreign dignitaries - not VP's.

Maybe they should investigate this lady

Not concerned about lady-like
concerned about being able to eat through the winter :)
If I was Prez or first lady...sm

The way I look at it, the Obamas will have more help taking care of the dog (they can be a lot of work!)  and also, IMHO, the girls are old enough now to have one and learn responsibility.

Off topic, but if I were in White House, I would follow in Calvin Coolidge's footsteps:  He had 6 dogs, a bobcat, a goose, a donkey, a cat, 2 lion cubs, an antelope, a wallaby and a pygmy hippopotamus.

Dream on, lady.

I used to work with a lady like that. Could never let others be
had to rain on everyone's parade. If someone had just bought a home of their own that they were so proud of, she'd point out that it was in a questionable neighborhood. If you brought in pics of your new grandchild, she'd tell you his ears were asymmetrical. Finally got 'MT-of-the-Month' because you typed the most lines? She'd say it was because you all all the easy dictators that month. Finally buy a new car? She'd insist that it rated lowest on the crash-tests. Just got a facelift, and finally back at work looking 20 years younger? She'd insist she could see the scars.

Pretty sad, huh? Those kinds of people have so little going for them in their lives, that they have to torpedo the happiness of all those around them. And unfortunately, this profession seems to draw that type like flies to road-kill.

Well, no killjoy rightwing biddy is going to spoil this day, and our exciting, YOUNG! new administration for me.

Am I going to wake up tomorrow morning with a better job? No. More money? Nope. But what I AM going to wake up to tomorrow is a President that I can finally be PROUD of again. And it's been far too long in coming.

Fat lady starts her song!
You know it has to be pretty darned bad when virtually all you see on the left-wing blogs is searing criticism of Democratic congresscritters. And I have to say, I absolutely agree with them. I'm still partial to progressive values but let's face it, elected Democrats are worthless, and have been since 2000, if not long before.

I have to wonder if that's been part of the plan all along, and if there are not much larger forces than the RNC focused on literally destroying America, her political system, her people and her former glory. With Alito's confirmation it's a done deal. The right can yuk it up all it wants and assume a smugness off the scale - but they don't appear to be aware that it's their nation too that is being dismantled. What is their powerful, pushy, money-grubbing and quasi-criminal majority party without a strong minority to watchdog it?

There's only one answer, and it is bad news 99% of the American people.

So let the fat lady sing over America's flag-draped coffin. Enjoy the song, enjoy the carnage, pop the champagne corks - it's all one big party now.

The Dragon Lady, so I hear sm.
The GOP claims McCain is getting 70% of the Republican vote. That is beyond scary (a nation of sheep). I will wait and see who Dr. Paul endorses, and go with the 30% remaining true conservatives to form our own party. Maybe with a joint effort between independents, greens, constitution and libertarian parties we can get rid of this 2 party monopoly and these neocon cretins.
dont believe the gray lady -

What a gorgeous folksy lady
I believe this lady is a cutthroat politician. I bet she is aiming for the presidency at some point in her political career.

Do looks really mean this much to you, I remember a grand lady, not much to look at but OMG

The woman was Eleanor Roosevelt. To say she was nothing to look at was an understatement. Very homely looking but what she accomplished which made me think of her when others are talking about looks. Do looks matter- what about a person's soul and heart- does that not count for anything now?

My stepmom worked in Washington during WWII. She saw Eleanor Roosevelt several times. She told me about how Mrs. Roosevelt would board a pubic bus and say hello to the people sitting there, not pretentious at all. I remember her later when she was working at the United Nations as a delegate. She became one of the greatest women of the 20th Century.  She was an humanitarian and civic leader (among other roles). She worked for the welfare of youth, black Americans, the poor, and women, at home and abroad. She persuaded her husband to create NYA which gave financial aid to students and young people. She worked closely with the NAACP. She visited the troops overseas during WWII.  She was a leader in human right efforts.  What she may have lacked in looks she certainly made up for it in her good deeds.

didn't like either first lady's outfit
However, I think the outfits looked nice on them, I just didn't like them. But it's rare that I like such formal "older" outfits.

but they briefly showed Cindy McCain and I liked hers.. she seems to fit her clothes pretty well.

Very beautiful, very classy lady. (nm)

The lady from Africa should go back there......
It doesn't say if the lady from Africa is a "legal" citizen or just here on a Visa but either way, the hospital administrators should be ashamed of themselves for letting this one person dictate NO patriotism toward ones own country!!!

That lady have every right showing a flag in her office; the American flag is a symbol of this country, its freedoms, all it stands for. The lady from Africa obviously needs to go back to Africa and stay there. She has no patriotism to this country, just here to work like so many others, without an ounce of care for this country at all, except to make a buck.

We have a serious problem in this country when anyone asks anyone else to take down an American flag!!!
He also had time to meet with Lady de Rothschild...sm
Oh yes. He urgently had to get to Washington to work on the financial crisis! Riiiiightt! -

>> You remember her, the lady who called blue collar voters "rednecks." McCain thought meeting a beautiful filthy rich member of royalty was more important than focusing on the economy today. Yet he now suddenly wants to cancel everything to focus on the economy. >>
You mean supporters like that lady with the B self inflicted on her head? LOL!!!!!
pathetic!

We have a president, a first lady, a first family and a first puppy.
Evidently one he would have us all uphold. If I were one of his daughters, I would never forgive him if he didn't allow me to share that one moment in time. More to the point, I believe he will be doing his best in the next 4 years to diffuse the fear you are now expressing.
She is a nice eloquent lady....until she starts...
with the "rabid Republicans" type comments. Not necessary to take potshots to impart information. Fact is, I like GP. We are from the same part of the country and have a lot in common, believe it or not.

As to Obama...look. I had concerns about him during the campaign. Those did not just disappear *poof* when he won the election. I still have concerns. I don't trust him. His first choice for his administration did not make any strides toward trust, in fact, made me even more concerned. I asked if the real Barack Obama would step up, and he has. Maybe the next choices will be better. Time will tell.
the black lady didnt call anyone a name!
what are u talking about?  and what does Harlem dumbells mean?  Is this person referring to a dumb black person?  That is how it is sounding to me.  If that is not what the comment means, why doesnt the poster clarify this?
Well, she is a pretty bitter lady.........she ain't happy
--
Is that coming from personal experience? Perhaps you should actually LISTEN to the lady.....
Don't personally know JTBB, but after reading her posts and references fully the past couple of months, she has much balanced wisdom and irony, along with that intelligence. Personal digs are okay for the Pubs?
The attack on this lady is an obvious political issue....

that church is concerning to me
it SHOULD be concerning to everyone.
This is why I don't go to church

Is this what is going on in the churchs now?  Fear tactics that we are all doomed to he**?  Our society is morally based.  Go walk around the Middle East for a day and you will appreciate just how moral we are.  The public schools aren't there to raise our children and at least they can go to school.  You don't have to put your child in the public school system, that is also the beauty of choice in our country.  Try having your child dodge bombs instead or be taught to strap bombs to themselves and die in the name of God.  I'll take the science class any day over that.  You can teach your children to have faith and to read books based on opinions and science.  We aren't stupid, we can make our own decisions.  I love the fact that my son can argue all points of view.  He was taught evolution, so what?  He is smart enough to make his own decision, just like you!  All opinions should be presented to grow and learn.  If there was only one point of view, how would we know how to chose?

If he didn't go to church, then what would you say?
He can't win; if he goes he's wrong, if he doesn't what? The fact remains: Clinton lied, nobody died. Bush lied and 3 YEARS, billions of dollars later, 2300+ died...and yet we're being told how much **progress** is being made. Get over Clinton and wake up!
Yes, and The Persecuted Church
While persecution is not exclusionary to one set of beliefs at the present time Christians are the most persecuted people in the world especially in the Arab world and in communistic countries such as China and dictatorial countries like Iran and North Korea.

I have to take a small exception....
I understand why there was no half staff declaration for Katrina victims and there was for VA Tech. There is a difference in a natural disaster, where loss of life is expected to some degree (not condoned, not accepted, but expected) and a crazy going nuts and murdering 32 people in a heinous horrible bloodbath. I can see why the half-staff for VTech. There has never, as far as I have known, been half-staff for victims of natural disaster, and Hurricane Andrew killed many as well. Although there was no paper half-staff declaration, I did hear personally on many occasions President Bush use some of the same words in talking about the Katrina victims...and he did declare a national day of remembrance for the Katrina victims, which he did not do for the VA Tech victims.
Small and slanted...?
I saw the video. How can a video be small and slanted? It was broadcast on several channels though certainly not CNN. How can that be slanted? A video is what it is. The country producing it did not dispute it, France and Germany did not dispute it. Please tell me how that can be slanted. It is also a fact that they found the intact 747 in the Iraqi desert. That WAS reported on CNN. How can that be slanted? It was there. What possible other purpose could it have to be there? I can see you ignoring a video of two men, but a 747???

You are wrong about the unrest...most of the unrest in Iraq is foreign fighters. If you would watch one of the small and slanted reports as you call them, if only occasionally, you might actually get the BIG picture you keep referring me to. Several of the sectarian fighters have now turned on the foreign fighters instead of each other. Hopefully more of that will occur.

I suppose it will be easy enough for you, if we pull out of Iraq now, to just let the Sunnis and Shias have at it and take all the innocents who just want to work and live with them, aka Viet Nam. For whatever reason, whether you agree with it or not, we are there and the situation is what it is. We can turn tail and run like we did in Viet Nam, or we can finish it.

As to facts to form theories...your facts and theories are no stronger than mine. And again I say...it should not be a far right, a right, a liberal or a far left thing. It should be an American thing. I am an American first. I don't give a good gosh darn about politics. I do give a good gosh darn about this country and keeping it safe for all of us, no matter what direction we lean in. Would that we all felt that way.
obama's church

OBAMA'S CHURCH

Subject: TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

During this campaign for the Presidency, It's interesting that so much had been made of Mitt Romney's Mormom religion, while we heard/hear so little of Barack Obama's, outside of the denials of his being Muslim.

However, if you look more closely at Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama's church, it sounds more like a racist cult than anything else, with a committment, not to America, but to Africa. Scary, when you consider this man could be the President of this United States.

Please go to this church's website and read what is written there. It is very alarming. Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U.S. If you look at the first page of their website, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa. No where is AMERICA even mentioned.  Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join Obama's church... B-L-A-C-K!  Whites attend, I have also read, but are not members.  Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.  This guy desires to rule over America while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa!  It is so important to pass this message along to all of our family & friends. To think that Obama has even the slightest chance in the run for the presidency, is really scary. This is the web page for the church Barack Obama belongs to:

www.tucc.org/about.htm

and then I saw/heard him speak yesterday and only see young white people always arround him....where are these black folks who are supporting him?  The whites on TV clamoring around him far outweigh the number of blacks ALL the time that I see, I do not get that....it should be mixed in my mind wherever he speaks/goes to.

I am not a racist so please do not attack me.....

I am teaching a small ESL

course in grammar.  Two examples I use

President Bush flew BACK from vacation to sign the Terri Schiavo legislation.

President Bush flew OVER the Katrina victims.

It seems to help them understand better.

If you go to church, has your pastor done this?

WEST BEND, Wis. (AP) - Thirty-three pastors in 22 states used their sermons to make pointed recommendations about political candidates today.

The effort was orchestrated by the Arizona-based Alliance Defense Fund.

The conservative legal group plans to send copies of the pastors' sermons to the Internal Revenue Service with hope of setting off a legal fight and abolishing restrictions on church involvement in politics.

Critics call it unnecessary, divisive and unlikely to succeed.

The minister with the liberal United Church of Christ says churches should stand apart from the government.

small business
Me and DH own a small recreation business, and quite frankly, a few years ago, when the gas prices started getting out of control is when our business started hurting. We are taxed individually, not as a corporation, so I don't see anything in O's tax plan that would hurt us. Maybe help us a bit. Most small business owners aren't making a large fortune, those are the big corporations who have so many dam@ loopholes anyway!
