In Reply to: Your "quotes" of what I said in my post are false. - sm - from my perspective

I usually don't read her posts, so by the time I checked to see if you were responding to her or me, it was too late. Sorry about the hasty reply, but I what I wrote still stands, just in case anyone DOES mis-quote me.

Anyway, a great big OOOPS!

my apologies ... sm
This gentleman wrote a very insightful article about, not only obama, but observations of America in general.  Thought is was very interesting (whether or not you are pro or con obama).   Sorry I wasted your time.
'post' above yours, again, apologies :)

My apologies, Kaydie.
I read your post quickly in between jobs and did not read it properly. I apologize.
Hey JTBB my apologies to you too
Boy, talk about getting slapped into reality (more like smacked) by Just Curious.

After 10 seconds I turned Olberman off and looked for an article to read. Got the same message but without the painful anguished look on Olberman's face. HA HA.

You are right - I can't find this story in any of the conservative web pages.

Do I believe what we have in the office right now are neocons? Most and absolutely yes!!!! Do I believe what we have coming in is the Nazi regime. Most definitely yes!!! I don't know whether I like that or not because basically I do not see a difference. Only time will tell. I hope Obama will do a good job, I really really really do. This country is just in shambles. Am I worried - oh my gosh yes because of who he has been picking to fill his cabinet. Correct me if I'm wrong, because I may certainly be wrong, but I don't see him picking any conservatives in his cabinet, but yet when he was campaigning he was saying he was the only candidate who can bring the two sides together and he will choose both liberals and conservatives for his positions, yet I have yet to see any conservatives. I most certainly do not want more of the same, but I know there are a lot of conservatives who could do a good job, but to me I feel like he is just pushing them aside, which I feel is going to lead to such a division in the country. I still don't know what it is the Clinton have over him, but for him to pick her - oh my gosh!!!!!

I think I just take offense (even though I'm not conservative - I'm an independent with some conservative viewpoints and some liberal viewpoints) but I take offense when one side is called "the enemy" and people lump everyone into one group.

I do hope he does good. I hope he can get some jobs created and the economy back on track.
My apologies..... you DO get it..... finally, someone

I can see apologies have no effect on the likes of you. SM
Thank you for demonstrating that. It's funny, because several times liberals have mistakenly posted on the conservative board and then apologized and we never attacked.  A good example between the two mindsets, I would say.
my apologies about that link below, here is a good one

my apologies to you - I probably did sound rude - nm

Anyone else sick and tired of all the apologies

from corporations and our representatives? Are we supposed to always forgive them like their cronies do?

Thain just apologized for spending $1 million on remodeling his office but did not apologize for all the millions in bonsues he took when he left the company after 3 weeks.

Last night during the hearing for Geithner, Dodd spent so long talking, not about Geithner, but lecturing against Bush. I didn't even listen to Harry Reid. He's another one.

Barney Fife recieved $12 million from FM/FM. Sickening (haven't researched that yet, but heard it on the news).

Oh, and how about the $50 million corporate jet that was just ordered by one company, yet are asking for another $20 million from TARP. They SAY they are not using taxpayer's money for this jet. So, if not, how come they needed, and need, TARP money? Bull.

I'm sick of all the greed and coruption, not only in our government but also  corporate.

Apologies and we're to forgive them?  I don't think so. Why can't we get all this crap cleaned up? Is everyone in everyone else's pockets?

Okay. I'm done venting for now....................I think.

good grief to you, these are not apologies...nm...........nm

Sincere apologies, wrong board. NM
...
Yes, sincere apologies, wrong board. So what? NM

Definitely agree and my apologies to the democrats - see message
Didn't mean to insult any by saying she was in the same group. I do know quite a few really good democrats with level heads and are trying to do better for the country (still wish Kucinich had made it further. I think he's a very decent person) - as are some good republicans too (Ron Paul and others) - its the left wing nuts and I always forget that not all democrats are like that. (and not all republicans are like the uber-conservatives in their parties.

So sorry democrats that I put her in the same group with you.
You need to make NO apologies - your posts have been insightful - see message
I feel the same way you do. I can tell you how upsetting it is to my patooty off and what do I get for it, I don't get ahead, I get to pay more taxes. I work two jobs because I have to and I have nothing - let me repeat nothing, NADA - left over. In fact sometimes I don't have enough to cover everything.

The country is going down the tubes and what do I see...all the wealthy politicians on the talk shows on TV and they all talk with sh-eating grins on their faces as though this is a big joke for them. They have little respect for people like us.

So don't you apologize for any posts you made or any answers you post to others messages. We're all feeling just like you do.

Sick sick sick of it all.

Thanks for responding.

1) Agree with the point about Afghanistan.  If our troops weren't burdened with fighting an unnecessary war in Iraq, we might be able to have a stronger presence in Afghanistan, as well as protect ourselves at home in case of a disaster (terroristic or natural).  Our troops are spread too thin, and the military keeps raising the age limit and lowering physical standards for enlistment as a reseult.

2) I agree with this.

3) Bush has recently admitted that Iraq had no WMDs and also had nothing to do with 9/11.  Do you think he is lying?

4) Tony Snow has made some really stupid statements, including blaming 9/11 on Bush 41.

5) Bush was the only leader who held out so the war could continue longer when the rest of the world pleaded for it to end.

Regarding your last sentence, whether I agree or not doesn't matter.  You have your opinion.  I have mine.  I don't feel you wasted your breath or your time.  Thank you for responding.

I believe she was responding to the
the exclamation point abuser, and not referring to teabaggers in general.
I don't think I was responding to those posts

I was responding to gt's, and no, I was not around when those other posts were made, and that's why I didn't comment on them.

I was responding to the "drunk" comment that gt made which was totally off par and shows what that gt is here for only one reason and that is to incite fighting, because calling someone a drunk without knowing them at all is definitely fighting words.

I don't know how you can render me a phoney, because I have told you nothing of my self.  That is again, a baseless judgement.  GT was typing nonsenical stuff right after telling someone their posting habits sounded like those of a drunk.  If posting habits are evidence of drunkeness then gt needs to look at his or her posting style.

If you'd stop responding, so will the OP.
The more you carry on with posters like this, the more they will continue.

No, I was responding to the past above yours, sorry,
did I get it wrong? yikes - I meant that for the 'first of all' post...
Huh? No. I was responding to the post
above that stated man and woman were created with the purpose of producing offspring. It had nothing to do with homosexuality.

I don't understand where you got the idea I meant anything else.
Do you think you've been responding to
just 1 person all day - LOL.
enclosed the post I was responding to

Below is the post I was responding to:

*But can a parent sacrifice their child to the military

and No most of the country doesn't agree with the self-proclaimed martyr, Sheehan.*

Maybe you should actually read the post before responding.

Bush is claiming they are working on nuclear weapons.

Iran has always claimed they are working on nuclear energy.

Who's lying?  Which country has the track record for lying when it comes to reasons for declaring war on a country that didn't attack it first??

Agree and I do not plan on responding to them either
I have better things to do than squander any more of my time responding to the troublemakers posting on this board.  When someone here has something worth responding to, I will. There is no point in explaining, defending, or arguing with the people who are only here because they can't find any intelligent discussions on their own board.
You're the one who keeps responding. Just quit your...sm
harassment.

I was speaking to you, no matter how you try to twist the converation, and say I can't follow the thread. Period.

Just tired of responding to hatred....nm

Responding to you is a waste of my time.
I do not waste my time responding to your political posts, and I will not waste my time arguing semantics with you. I would not associate with you in my personal life, and you are not worth my time and energy on this forum. I am afraid you will have to find someone else to listen to your nonsense.
I am responding to the above post with my opinion
and am not interested in over-aggressive fights about such silliness. It is my opinion in answer to the question above.
Wasn't responding to your post.... but the sow's ear

Did I stop anyone from responding to your post?
you haven't answered mine.
the problem with responding too fast
...is that you end up leaving out important phrases!

The $72 an hour figure quoted in the article, I should have said, isn't made of *just* the wages and benefits of current employees--it's also including those paid to retired workers, the ones who paid into the retirement fund their whole lives, and are now living off those benefits.

In other words, you take the wages/benefits paid to the current 180,000 or so autoworkers, PLUS those paid to the 400,000 or so retirees and the 120,000 spouses of dead retirees, then divide that by the 180,000 current workers, then say, LOOK HOW MUCH THOSE GUYS GET PAID! It's an incredibly artifically inflated number.

And noooo one in the media ever seems to question it.

You did not follow who I was responding to!!!! YOU READ IT

Also I was responding to the person who wrote that

say the opposite. BT stated it correctly.

Now nuff said.

Dont even bother responding to her posts -

I agree, I was responding to some of the ugly remarks made below nm

You just don't have the capacity to understand I'm afraid... see ya, not responding anymore nm
to you
I am responding to all the posters who have made a living on this board denegrating everything that
new President does, even though he has just taken office, give me a break. George had 8 years, and each year was worse than the one before it.....I am not "whining" about Bush, the past is the past and I am trying very hard to focus on change, on a new future, on how we can all help, etc., not waving the Democratic flag, but the AMERICAN flag, I am just referring to history, nonpartison history.
I heard today Palin is responding to Levi's charges
by throwing the dirt back at him. I say that is how every woman her age should behave, right? Tit for tat.
And I think you have to read all of my posts, I am responding to arrogant inflammatory remarks, whic
Substantiation, no real substance, and yet these people are CHOOSING to start devisive threads with divisive remarks on this board, even making statements that historically are 100% inaccurate. Yes, I pray for unity, compassion, wisdom, etc., but the rabid Republicans on this board (and I do not mean all Rep., just a few loud ones), want to harshy judge and condemnn the new administration without giving things a chance, what would you call that? What about the "hit and run" posts by right wingers who continue to stir the pot with incorrect, slanted, and inflammatory remarks here? Fair is fair, I try to back up each statement I make with historical facts, I try to see both points of view (wow, I have actually agreed with Republicans on certain subjects!), but this board is not about me, or you, it is about all of us trying to hash out all the many struggles this nation now has, and with restraint, intelligence, and care look at each problem and try to help fix it. America comes first. Period.
I just thought it might be nice to hear an original thought. sm
I guess I was reaching.
Thought this was good so I thought I'd share

Down the drain?  Beware of Obama's plan to 'spread the wealth around'

By Betsy Newmark
High School History and Government Teacher/Blogger

If the McCain campaign can’t use this Obama quote to raise doubts about his attitude towards wealth and success, then they deserve the shellacking they seem headed for.

“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.”

“It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Plumbers of the country, unite! Forget about the work and effort you put into building up a business or the scummy work that you do that many of us don’t know or don’t want to do. If you have succeeded, you should be willing to give up more of what you earn to help those who haven’t had the great good luck that you have had to be a successful plumber. Remember how Obama is going to give 95% of all of us a tax cut even though over 30% of the population doesn’t pay taxes?

He might call it a tax credit, but what he’s really doing is his vision of “spreading the wealth around.” It sounds a lot like Huey Long’s 1935 plan to “Share the Wealth.” And when he finds that he can’t tax the top 5% of the population to gain enough wealth to spread to the 95% of the rest of us, do you really think that he’ll stop with that 5%?

Remember…This is the guy who said in the ABC debate during the primary season that his approach to raising tax on capital gains is not based on whether it would provide more revenue but on his idea of what is fair:

GIBSON: All right. You have, however, said you would favor an increase in the capital gains tax. As a matter of fact, you said on CNBC, and I quote, “I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton,” which was 28 percent. It’s now 15 percent. That’s almost a doubling, if you went to 28 percent.

But actually, Bill Clinton, in 1997, signed legislation that dropped the capital gains tax to 20 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And George Bush has taken it down to 15 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.

So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?

OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

Just what we need in these fragile economic times — a guy who wants to raise taxes because he thinks it’s a matter of “fairness” and time to “spread the wealth around.”

That will be some incentive for other plumbers who want to work hard and build up a successful business.

But don’t worry - according to Joe Biden, it’s the patriotic thing to do.

Haha! I thought I was the only one who thought he looked

I told you what I thought he thought....
and thank you so much for reducing it to "a piece."

That being said, here is link to article from Wall Street Journal about both candidates and outsourcing...Obama is not going to stop it either. He has said on the stump the answer is more highly educated American workers to compete.

It seems to me, and although you may think this is also a "piece," that if you put our corporate tax rates lower, if that corporation is inclined to hire Americans and not outsource then they will do so.

You honestly think the majority of corporations just WANT to outsource and taxes don't matter?

I thought I was alone.

So refreshing to have someone on this board that can actually think for themselves.  I have such vivid memories of my dad dressing up in his class A's to go to war, and coming into my room crying at 4:00 a.m. in the morning to say goodbye, not knowing if we would ever see one another again.  Thankfully, he did 1 tour in Korea before I was born, two tours in VN, and we lived on an Army base 25 miles from the Berlin wall when I was 6 years old.  If there was ever an american girl, it is me and my brother.  That "american girl" posting on here all the time, if she had to earn her FFFF freedom she would learn to keep her mouth shut.

Same thought here

It seems like one of first major priorities would be to ensure fair voting practices.  I'm very worried about the accuracy of computerized voting and possible tampering.

I thought you were new here?sm
People are somewhat like-minded here, but I see distinct posting styles here. I am a conservative (ex-Republican), but I do not post on their board; their ideology does not reflect my beliefs. I have never once been bashed by liberals, even if they do not agree with me.
Just a thought....
Before too long the number of Iraq War troop deaths will be as high as the ones here on 9/11.  And all for what?  So sad.
You know what I thought when I saw it?
I thought it was posted by someone from the rabid right, so they could come back and respond to their very own post and blame the liberals because people post things like this.  LoL!
I thought he was
putting his money where his mouth is. He has donated a large amount of his personal funds to this project, as well as fundraising efforts A lot of celebs just talk, Brad is actually doing something. Why does he have to live in the 9th ward to help.

I sponsor kids on the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Should I have to live with them to help them?

Gimme a break!
Never thought of it this way
You brought some good thoughts to mind. I definitely agree with you.
