Not necessarily....enough Repub senators ....

Posted By: sam on 2008-11-05
In Reply to: It's been the Dems all along... - sm

remain so that the democrats don't have a filibuster-proof majority. So if the repubs grow a backbone and stand up...the dems will be somewhat limited in what they can do. We shall see how it all turns out. But yeah...the potential for a major hosing will still exist.

That is not necessarily so...
Because I would vote for Clinton before I vote for McCain, but for me it is McCain over Obama. So, my advice is to vote for the person you think would do the best job or the less of the evils, not to just get your party in. I have to say that I never, ever, ever thought I would say this and I just did and I mean it too! I think Obama is even more despicable than McCain, if that is possible. They are almost equal in my estimation. Just listen to his schpiel and then note that he is going to DO all these things, but never states HOW and that may of his campaign "promises" seem to be racist. Clinton seems the least racist when comparing the two after I read all the information available. Maybe we could all just write in the candidate of our choice and if were an organized effort it could work. It is bleak.
Not necessarily....lol. nm
nm
#1 & #3 most liberal senators

It's a fact.  The one between them is none other than Ted Kennedy!  He's #2! Obama is #1, Biden #3.

How can so many people buy into this spin?  Cuba thought they found their true messiah, too.  Castro promised them change and something new, and look where that got 'em.

Senators and Congressman
If you have a senator or congressman up for reelection this year, are you going to automatically vote against him/her? I know people say they are mad as he@@ at the present congress, so I was wondering how people were planning on voting. I haven't decided yet, so I really need to start looking at who is up for reelection in my district.
I emailed both my senators........... sm
about him last night. I hope enough people will call, write or email their senators and let them know that this man has no business in the AG office.

What IS Obama thinking???? I wonder how he would like it if he found his daughters being exposed to the very websites this man fought to protect?
Sadly, some of the senators, if not all,

think we DO want this. Doesn't matter how many calls they get. They think we just love mortgaging ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren.

There are a few that are fighting against the bill as it stands but....and I know a certain person will blast me for this but Schumer, Dodd, and Kerry absolutely screamed today that this package is what HAS to pass. Schumer stated right out that it's what the people want. Kerry stated there was no reason to cut anything from it. Dodd stated that the TARP package has money in it to help with the mortgage debaucle so why they want amendments to the tune of $9B in this one was beyond him.

So, if there is money in TARP for the homeowners, why aren't the homeowners being helped? No rocket science in that. The banks and Wall Street are keeping it.

They just don't get it.

Well, I'm glad to see that neither of my Senators.......... sm
were the Republicans who voted for it. Texas has spoken.....FWIW! LOL!
I just contacted my senators
and as politely as I could told them that I was not happy with the the direction our country is going.  I also told them both that if they vote yes to cap-and-trade, I will vote against them come next election.
I am not necessarily defending them.
I am trying to make people have a broader view of them.  Gadfly seemed to be headed in that direction, but, of course, that was too much for you to bear. One mind, I know the drill.  Hateful?  Not at all.  Truth, gt. It's called truth.  It's my truth and I am sticking to it.  More might be truthful with you if they weren't afraid of getting their leg chewed off to the knee.  You won't argue with me, because you can't.  You don't operate on logic, you operate on emotion.  Kill the messenger was invented as a slogan exactly for people like you.  If you move outside your comfort zone, you attack the messenger, cut them off at the knees, with an airy 'this just isn't worth discussing' or some such.  Surely, I am not the first to have pointed this out to you.  I won't be the last either.  I have had my fill.  My expectations were far too high on finding this board.  I will move on along, before you revoke my privileges.  As far as racism, I posted many excellent examples of it up at the top of the board, not that you would read it. I can imagine that you are the type who never reads posts, only the headings, or at the very least a line or two, and then just responds out of sheer emotion.  One can do that on chat boards.  How you get away with it in life,  I have an idea.  I won't say it here though, lest you endanger yourself with a stroke at hearing the truth.
On ALL sides--does not necessarily mean sm
this fiasco is partisan--only that the current administration (GOP) allowed all entities to run amok. It's the financial world versus the common man, now vice versa. As one pundit said tonight, The public shouldn't have to pick up the broken chairs when they weren't invited to the party.

not necessarily. I don't know about other states, but...
here in Michigan they want to allow voting online, not needing to actually be "absent" to get an absentee ballot, and no ID needed. And they were also tossing around early voting like Ohio did. If this is all allowed like the Dems want, then all the "dead dems" in Cook County will be moving to Michigan to vote, and then move back to Chicago.

What is scary about all these "proposals" is that you have the opportunity for out and out voter fraud the likes of which will make Cook County politics look like a Sunday school picnic. Especially if they decide to do this in all the states. JMO though.
I'm not necessarily focusing on that .....
Yes, his remarks are very telling about his feelings toward Obama BUT his comments about Obama waaaay before all this, during the primaries, were extremely telling and that is what makes this little relationship very interesting. I can guarantee you Obama did not come to the decision of Biden on his own.

The powers that be behind him know Obama can't handle foreign affairs or worse yet, another attack on this country.

I wouldn't necessarily believe
the polls they are reporting anyway, all over the board, and I believe they are manipulating the whole election.
I think it won't necessarily be a matter
of fooling us.  The question may be:  Will he manage to 'spread the wealth' to a greater number of people than he's ripped off?
Everything you list here is shared by all the other senators ....
serving. This is legislative experience. It is not executive experience, and it is not foreign policy experience. Obama admitted it, that is why he chose Biden. I choose to believe him.

As far as executive experience...she has run a state, a multibillion dollar budget, made executive decisions every day.

He is running for PRESIDENT. She is running for VP. She has more government running experience than he does. His qualification is running a presidential campaign. Ah. I see. And I thought it was the campaign managers who did that.

She IS more qualified.
It is the way of a democracy. I keep in touch with my senators and one...sm
lone representative. I pay attention to whether they vote in my best interest and are honest in their dealings and let them know if I disagree, and vote or not vote for them in the next election. You are naive if you think that democrats are solely responsible for this meltdown. Looking for the other party to blame is counterproductive and will help no one. Money hungry greed is what has led us to this and both parties are to blame.
Senators, etc, don't have the same security clearance as
the president. Do a little research on the subject. Face it, if the chosen one gets in we are screwed, without the benefit of dinner and a movie first.
I didn't necessarily mean you would flame me....sm
but I have on my flame-proof suit because I am sure that others will. LOL

On a more serious note, I am watching Israel....have been for some time. (I'm also checking out the clouds lately, ;o) ). There are several different groups of Jews who are working toward the rebuilding of the temple. Once that first stone is set in place, it should go up quickly.....and so should we.
Not necessarily cult worship

I don't know about cult worship, but I do know I have several friends who are African American who are over the moon. Why?   Because for the first time in history someone who looks like they do really can do anything and be anything they want to be.

not necessarily point and click -
My hospital already has computerized medical records. There is no point and click involved at all. All doctors still dictate and we still have a full transcription department. There is just not any paper generated for charts - it is all electronic. The doctors can access the patient's records from wherever they may be when they need them as long as they have a computer and a password.
You don't support it, but you don't necessarily condemn it either
If there are homosexuals being killed, it is not in this country. You just don't hear about it and the media would have a hey day with something like that. No, I don't believe it, just because you say it's happening. Proof please. I have every right to come across any way I please. Stop telling me I have no "right" to say, feel, think the way I do. I have no idea how you feel about your son or even how you handle it, so I wouldn't even begin to tell you what's going on in your life. But this is the way I feel. No, I wouldn't disown my children. However, I did do the groundwork when they were small. They knew it was wrong. They knew it would not be accepted by me or their father and maybe they had enough respect for us to do the right thing. I don't know. I do know that most kids are not taught that it's wrong, regardless of what society tells us. I do know that some kids do this to get back at their parents for different reasons. All sins can be forgiven. This is one sin that can kill you before you have a chance to be forgiven. I loved my kids enough to make sure they understood it was not only wrong, but could lead to their deaths at an earlier age. Not just HIV, AIDS but anal cancer, hepatitis C and a score of other terrible diseases. I didn't want that for for my sons. I'm not a hippocrit. But you are judgemental.
Not necessarily any specific speech

that changed the trend in Europe, but what those countries see happening in the US the last 6 months.

For decades, whenever there was trouble anywhere in the world, a natural disaster, an epidemic, an out-of-control dictator, a genocide, they could always count on the US to send money (more than any other nation), materiel and personnel to bail them out and fix the problem.  Now the rest of the world sees our government bankrupting itself (Obama's mouth writing checks his wallet can't cover) and they must realize that they're going to be pretty much on their own from here on out.  They have to get ready to take care of themselves, and rein in their own out-of-control governments.

Nope, not any specific speech he gave, but I think everyone in the EU must see the handwriting on the wall.  They are starting to take measures to protect themselves.   About time.  It's just ironic that we are not moving into the place they are abandoning.

Remember, immaturity is not necessarily
And this is a person posting on an MT board, who apparently wants to pass for an MT.  Anyone buying that?
There are children of congresspeople and Senators serving...
from both sides of the aisle.

Serious question...you do not view a radical Islamist with a nuclear weapon dangerous?
Didn't I hear some senators say that passage of....sm
the "bail out" would not preclude bringing those people criminally responsible to justice?  I am for that.  Let's see if either candidate steps up to the plate and advocates that now that the bail out has passed.
I am personally involved and communicate with my senators...sm
and represenatives. However, I have talked until I am "blue in the face" to people who believe everything they are told by their church, their husband, their wife or their parents, etc. Unless I am talking to someone who has an open mind and not willing to follow the pied piper and check their facts, I am wasting my breath. Of course, I keep trying. LOL.
I e-mailed my senators telling them the same thing! nm
nm
You write/fax/call your state senators over and over and over
--
That's not necessarily true. You've been able to pick up the slack sm
for them very nicely if I may say so myself.
well, i would call it dark but not necessarily meaningless
x
Hold your president responsible!! Call your senators!!
XX
repub utah gov

just touted SP's foreign policy experience because the state borders RUSSIA and CANADA.  That is twice the experience she had before.  Utah gov also flummoxed by tape showing Rove saying dem Tim Kain (3-year gov) did not have the experience to be VP.  Utah gov tried to recover, but stepping all over his tongue.

A day in the life of Joe Repub. sm

Someone e-mailed this to me, I thought it was kind of funny and took it in the spirit in which it was sent (considering a pub sent it to me).  The date says 2004, but whoever recirculated it put in some current references.  Not saying that it is true, just thought it was funny.

A Day in the life of Joe Republican.

Politics September 28, 2004

Found on This Modern World, an e-mail that’s apparently making the rounds:

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations]

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.  [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to and the power of unions] He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations that have prevented poisoned food being imported to the  USA ]

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained[Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations] .

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of MOST government regulations and environmental protections]. He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor. Joe begins his work day. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of many of the public projects in favor of financing the Military/Industrial complex] He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to and the power of unions] If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.  [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to safety nets in favor of financing the Military/Industrial complex] It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to get rid of many of these consumer protections and public assistance in favor of the giant financial industry] Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads. (Again, conservatives fought these steps to aid the citizens of  America for the good of ALL Americans) He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. (Again, conservatives fought these steps to aid the citizens of  America for the good of ALL Americans)  The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Again, conservatives fought these steps to aid the citizens of  America for the good of ALL Americans)  He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. [Conservatives (ie McCain/Palin) want to limit workers access to unions and government safety nets in favor of financing the Military/Industrial complex] Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn’t mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. (And have used smears and lies against liberals that have pushed these agendas)Joe agrees: “We don’t need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.” (sic)

Joe the P is just another repub FRAUD

just one of many many many and the sheep who won't open their eyes to the mess the repubs have made will never learn

You need to scroll down cuz your repub pal
k? clear now? Palin's husband belongs to a fringe political group that tried to have Alaska secede from the Union. Are you trying to deny that and say he is absolved from all sin because he is a fisherman?
Well, if Obama was a Repub, they WOULD be all
nm
I think I said that a few weeks ago about the Repub board.
Deja vu.
credit to the repub congress

Are you KIDDING me?  They shut down the government in a tiffy fit.  They fought him tooth and nail on everything.  They spent countless time and money trying to  impeach him. You need to get a library card an USE it, girlfriend.

What content? All I see is more Repub vs. Dem bashing.

So did the majority of Congress, Dem and Repub...
or nothing would have passed. Sheesh. You act like McCain passed every bill all by his lonesome. Let's be real here.
A Repub in Independent's clothing. You know
OINK
If it truly happend, it's horrible. But neither repub
to control what people do. All they can do is condemn the act. Obviously this was just some punk gangster, and my belief is that if she'd had an Obama sticker on her car, he probably would've carved an M for McCain.
SIX THAT IS S I X YEARS OF REPUB CONGRESS AND
you are hanging on straws
Here's a repub with some REAL class.
x
Geez...I am not a Repub...and I watch Fox so I can get both sides...
I am not going to get that from MSNBC, I am not going to get that from CNN, and I am certainly not going to get it from ABC, CBS, and NBC. You might want to back off the name calling a little bit...I could say the very same thing about MSNBC, CNN, BBC, and the other 3. You go there because they say what YOU want to hear and regularly bash conservatives. So admit it...as long as the bashing is of people you disagree with and you don't have to listen to any view but your own you are a happy camper. Just accept that you are the kettle and stop calling the pot black. :)
You are wrong. It was repub congress until 2006.
And then GW was in there vetoing everything including stem cell... kiss my grits you repubs.
Make that 6 years of Repub control &

I used to be a Repub, and when they added anti-abortion to
