I am glad Obama choses not to stoop to smear and fear. Yet to prevent another Swift Boat type election, somebody has to sling the garbage back at the same level as the bottom feeders. Look, going back at least to Taft you can point out ineptitude by our POTUS in both parties. I don’t think most of these guys run for office to *serve* our country. They actually think know better than we do; they’re smarter than we are, not one of us. If we just turn ourselves over to their leadership they can straighten out the whole 100-year mess in 4-8 years. Then after their term they become millionaires.
Carter did his number on our economy in the 1970s. Bush 41 bungled Desert Storm - read my lips. Clinton turned the Whitehouse into a brothel and the country into a national security nightmare. Bush 43 swung the other direction with civil liberties and due process after 9/11. (BTW, would you rather have had AL GORE in office on that day?) Now Obama trashes our capitalist system and pushes us into socialism. Meanwhile, the dems get to implement social programs they have always wanted, without any national consensus.

I think the Founding Fathers had some pretty good ieas when they wrote our Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. It's unfortunate so few of our presidents can resist the temptation to trample those founding documents and substitute their own preferences.
