No. I love the country side in Alabama...I'm a country girl...nm

You were the one who had the whatever attitude.sm
-It happens all the time...move on.-

I beg to differ.
What an attitude!
I can see by reading along that you are simply not able to have a logical conversation with ANYONE despite my being respectful.  And for your information, the reason I made the statement that we cannot agree is that we are speaking from different basic ethical and moral stands and neither of us is willing to budge. I will choose life and you will choose to end life.  You really should not fall back on your religious convictions to explain your belief system, though.  I am sure there are pro-choice Christians and I am careful to separate my personal feelings from all of Christianity.  This is something you seem unable or unwilling to do.  I am not quite sure why anyone would attempt to debate someone such as yourself, but I am sure I will not make that mistake again.  It seems you have effectively silenced anyone who does not agree with you often in your lifetime. How nice for you.
what an attitude....
That's your only criterium for voting for the President of the United States?
And you are rich.
This is pathetic.
It was brought in because
the poster labelled him as being black. Strictly speaking, that is incorrect.
Well, since you brought it up......

Why the heck can't BLACKS be just plain AMERICANS like the rest of us????  I don't see myself going around saying I'm Irish-Native American-American.  Let's let the racist crap go, shall we?

And by the way, I DID answer you.  Sorry it wasn't quick enough to suit you.

VOTING FOR LOU DOBBS!!!!

He has brought it up
along with all the other questionable associations Obama has, but no answers have been given. Obama said that he did not agree with the things Wright said, but that was really all the explanation he gave and he refused to answer any other questions about it. I would like to hear answers about that, too, but I just don't see it happening - he's too much of a friend of the media to have to answer to anything.

Take your pick. By the way, your cut and paste job totally missed the first paragraph.
First of all, someone else brought up

smokers and I was just trying to explain how I can love and care for someone but hate what they do....so I used my father and his smoking.

As for smoking....it is too a sin.  Technically anything that we take into our body that harms it is sinful.  Our bodies are supposed to be temples to God.  That is why for so many years ear piercing was bad and some people still consider tattoes bad.

It's not condescending attitude that
turns you away from Obama, it is your refusal to think for yourself and to vote for your own best interests.
No reason for that attitude.
She was just posting those as examples of things that have been said that are false and that what the OP posted about was yet another one of those rumors that just aren't true.
And this is exactly the kind of attitude

that I feel will ruin us if Obama is elected.  Oh...if you don't want to pay your fair share.....just don't make as much.  Why should people feel like they have to lower their income.  It will make hard working people not want to work hard because the government just takes what they earn.  Then you have the people who don't make anything and are living off of the government and that number will grow.  The more government assistance given, the more they want and the more they will take.  It will make spending for these programs outrageous.  Why should we enable people to mooch off of the government?

I understand there are people who legitimately need help.  People who are truly disabled and can't work.  However, there are many others who are literally just mooching so they don't have to work.

I have to think of MY future.  I have two kids who will go through college.  One boy is a freshman now so college really isn't too fair away.  I have a house I'm paying for.  I have a special needs child that requires more of my money.  I want to put my hard earned money back for my kids and myself for a rainy day.  I don't want it taken from me and given to people who I don't know and who I don't know whether they truly need it or are just lying and mooching off of the government.

The bottom line is this, making more money is an incentive to work hard.  You take their money away and give to people who don't work hard and what does that show.....it shows that you don't have to work hard because the government will pick of the tab and it shows the hard workers....why bother.  I don't want that for my country.  I don't want my kids raised in that kind of life thinking that hard work doesn't pay off.

what a sourpus attitude.

What a condescending attitude.
.
You have the typical dem attitude of it's everyone
nm
Well, with an attitude like that, you're probably right.
Ever heard of innovation? Trying new things? Evolution? Going with the flow? Growth? Change? Hope? Faith?
the word should be *brought*
my fingers have a mind of their own...
The OP brought up her concerns....
I brought up mine. I find mine more concerning than hers. And I don't understand why Democrats accept certain behavior in their own and lamblast the other side for the same perceived weaknesses. Why is that?
I have brought it up earlier on here but
O lovers immediately jumped on the Palin bandwagon again. They are so worried about Palin being a "heartbeat away from possibly being president" but they couldn't care less than Biden may very well be just a heartbeat away....period!

They seem to think Obama will live forever, even though both his parents died young AND he was a heavy smoker, drugger, and drinker.
They seem to have no concern about that.

YOU are the one who brought up Mccain
I was just showing you that they both have said that.

You Obama supporters always say "give me fact give me proof" and then when someone does you get mad.

I never said Mccain didn't say that, just saying it isn't a very good argument because THEY BOTH have said it.
I brought up Russia............sm
because it was an example of basically an exact opposite from what America is. You seem to want to live completely opposite than Americans have lived for the 150 (give or take) years before Madelyn Murray O'Hare started raising Cain (no pun intended) about prayer in schools, etc. While I realize atheists did exist prior to her time, for the most part, they pretty much "lived and let live" much as Christians did with respect to co-existing with them. That is more what I would call "tolerance" rather than getting all up in arms because God's name appears on the currency that puts a roof over your head, food on your table and clothes on your back.

As to the issue of Christian gays and lesbians, I really feel that is a subject more for the Faith forum and would happily discuss it with you there sometime as I have opinions on that as well. (are you surprised? LOL)

Marriage is a union between a man and a woman period. Unless you are married to a woman, then of course I feel your marriage is valid and certainly not worthless. You are really stretching the limits of common sense on this subject with your suppositions.

Your next to last statement is absolutely correct. There is only one way for true Christianity and that is based solely on the teachings in the Bible. People who do not believe the Bible do see it as divisive and intolerant, but like Paul said "the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who do not believe." Again, another fascinating subject for the Faith forum, but I would state that it is not Christians who seek to divide this nation but unbelievers who do because of their unbelief.

With all that said, JtBB, I will say this. I find you a very interesting person and really enjoy debating issues with you and hope you realize that just because our opinions clash some, okay most, of the time does not mean that I don't like you. :o)
Yes, YOUR attitude is one our forefathers envisioned, huh?! lol
geez.
It we adopt that attitude, we will be plunged into war
for the foreseeable future. I certainly do not want that, and I wouldn't think you would either. I have worked very closely with people from the middle east, mostly from Jordan and Pakistan, and I can most assuredly say that it is not US, the American people that they hate, it is our governmental policies that they hate. Those same policies of interference when it is not warranted that have created this chasm. It is not about cultural differences or about religion, the resistance is coming from that sector of radicalism. We have used and manipulated the peoples and governments of the middle east for our own ends for generations.

Your words are not acceptable to me because they tell me that there is no hope and to just give up and give in to the fact that we are going to be embroiled in war forever. I don't want that for my children or for my children's children.
Yes, i have plenty to keep me busy. Your attitude

just makes you seem somewhat sexist and I really was just curious?

Why do you say Obama has a condescending attitude? I think he is ...sm
much more understanding of the problems of the average American than McCain is.
No, Francie has the attitude. SHE turns me away
nm
no, YOUR attitude is what scares sensible people.
x
You have a really bad attitude and I will never answer any more of your posts because
You just don't get it at all. Go back to Fox News and rest assured, my time will not be wasted on your ignorance anymore.

Well please don't apply one person's attitude to everyone - sm
I for one am very sad that his Grandmother passed away, particularly at this time in his life.
See? It's just that kind of mean-spirited attitude
the republican party. Look at the difference in the crowds at the post-election speeches: One that was all-inclusive, and one that was obviously quite exclusive. One in which the candidate and the people who voted for him were willing to reach their hands out to the defeated party and say, "C'mon we're all in this thing together", and one in which the candidate's party booed the winner.

It's not 'just words', as you put it... it's the beginning of a dialogue, something that's been missing not only within the US, but also between the US and the rest of the world.

McCain is not mean-spirited. He was a good candidate, ran a good race, and would most likely have been a good president. But the party he represents has been consumed in recent years by greed and short-sightedness. And that seems to have gone a long way towards cultivating the mean-spiritedness that's been the hallmark of that party for the last couple of decades.

I think the best thing the Republican Party can do for itself and for future elections is to learn from the mistakes of the last 20 years, and start making changes, and conducting themselves like this is the 21st century, not the 16th century. This country was long overdue for a change for the better, and to embrace the 21st century, not fear it.
That attitude is why racism still exists.....
nm
with that "better than thou" attitude
i have nothing to say
Im not surprised you voted Obama. i bet your nose is turned up right now

If you can't figure out what i mean, surely you are the kind of person I could trust to know how the economy got this way and what to do to save it...
Your holier than thou attitude....(sm)

is quite amazing.  Exactly how do you know that Obama was not sent by God, or as you would say, that the will of mankind by choosing Obama is not in line with the will of God?  Has, per chance, your god bestowed upon you the gift of seeing into the future? If this is not the case, exactly what do you base your assumptions about the job Obama will do on?  Maybe its because you have bought into the fear doctrine of Bush so much that you can't see beyond it.

You said, *If you believe for one minute that Obama is going to change the way that Iran or any other country in the middle east view America you are very, very naive.  The only thing Obama will accomplish will be to weaken this country in an effort to make us more "likeable" to the world and in the end the only thing we will be is weak*

I would love to hear your definition of *weak.*  From what I can gather from your posts, weak in your eyes is the unwillingness to use force first.  So, what is so wrong with diplomacy?  Is your only response to a situation the *shoot first and ask questions later* mentality?  Believe it or not, there is strength in the ability to negotiate and compromise with others.  Since you base everything on religion, what does your Bible say about that?  Does it not teach compassion and understanding?  Of have you just interpreted it in a manner that suits you personally?

Do I believe Obama will put an end to offshoring American jobs?  I believe that is his goal, unlike Bush and McCain who both supported tax breaks for companies overseas who do that exact thing.  Look up their voting records.

*How can he make America liked and respected by other countries, and take away a source of income for so many in third world countries?*    It's called FAIR TRADE.  Look it up.  Maybe you didn't pay attention to what Obama was saying during his campaign.  Did you even listen to him, or did you just get the Fox rendition?  I would be willing to bet that those *third world countries* know more about his policies than you do, and yet they overwhelmingly support him.

And then there's the middle east.  Everyone says they don't want Iran to have nukes.  I agree, but I also don't want anyone else to have nukes either.  You would argue that Iran is too radical to be trusted with them.  I would say the same thing about Israel and the US.  Under Bush's reign we have started 2 major wars and are presently funding Israel in its war to the tune of about over 2 billion a year in direct military support.  Put yourself in someone else's shoes for a while.  If you lived in Iran (a democratic state), you saw this behavior, and you know you are labeled as *next* on the Bush hit list, wouldn't you be trying to arm up?

Now I know you're going to say that each and every one of those wars was justified, but you are sooo wrong it's ridiculous.  Israel -- They have been bullying everyone over there for years in the name of the holy land and are currently killing civilians at an alarming rate.  Iraq -- An unjust war, to say the least.  And then there's Afghanistan, which was supposed to be retaliation for 9/11.  Why do you think 9/11 happened?  Do you think before 9/11 that everyone in the world just loved the US?  News flash -- No, they didn't.  The US has been meddling in the middle east for years on end (which included putting people like Saddam in power).  So, you think that the Bush administration had no way of seeing it coming.  Maybe you missed this interview.  It's very enlightening.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5TkWGsmZF0

And yet, you would say that Bush has *kept us safe.*  What a joke!

Amazingly, you call me naive when I am the one looking at the facts, and all you have are innuendos, rumors and guesses about what may happen.  Unfounded fears about the future do nothing for the progression of society.  The sooner you learn that, the sooner you will be able to see the truth.

You have a good attitude Penny sm
I'm glad you welcomed me back but I see an Obama supporter believe it or not has called me a moron. I wonder what's up with that?

It's glaringly obvious who has the attitude here...(sm)

Instead of actually contributing the conversation, you came along and just decided to pick out someone for a fight.  I really am happy that you have such a wonderful life and that this crisis is seemingly not affecting you.  However, I don't believe that gives you the right to criticize those who are being affected.  But then again, I would assume that was your point -- to just stir up a fight.  Maybe you should spend some of that $600 a month on a hobby.

BTW, if I were trying to be nasty, I would have actually told you that you are mindless wonder instead of just saying I would have called you something else.  LOL.

Al Gore and his "green" attitude
is the biggest bunch of BS I've ever seen.  That fat man preaches to everyone about global warming and then jumps on his private jets and flies off.  The kicker is that he is getting rich off of this scam too.
This pearl of wisdom is brought to you by
someone who proved herself ridiculous 500 posts ago....
I, for one, am glad this topic was brought up
You NEVER hear about this on the news. For most people, hearing about how much children are suffering would take the fire out of their battle cry real fast. I agree that a bullet shot by a 15 year old kills just as readily as one fired by an adult. But how do you blame a child for acting out in the only way it knows how? These kids do not know any other way. You cannot, however, go to these kids and tell them that the way they know is WRONG, you have to show the child there are other ways to do things and let THEM decide. Again, shoving ideals and religions down their throats will only make the situation worse.

It is unbelievably important that we leave these kids with the a better impression of America. They are the future of the Middle East and if there is ever going to be peace, those kids are the key.
No bigger than the backlash JM brought down
nm
You brought up some good issues
I don't like unessessary (sp?) bashing of anyone. That is disturbing to me hearing about the comments she made on the radio show. On one hand she'll say she's a Christian and on the other hand she will laugh at the expense of hurting others feelings.

As for what the candidates say during campaigning....it's happening on both sides. I don't like it. I don't like it when it happens to Obama, McCain, Biden or Palin. I think they are all doing the best job they know how to get elected.

With that said, everyone seemed to focus on Palins speech and how she took shots at Obama/Biden, but when I listened to their speeches last week during the DNC they were doing the same thing to Palin and McCain. Then the media made me totally nauseaus(especially MSNBC). They were laughing at what Obama, Biden, Michelle, and other speakers were saying, but when the republicans said something the media said it was appalling, they're attacking, etc, etc etc. Everyone is saying things about the other side. Some of it may not be funny and a lot of it may not be true but I guess seeing as its an election I can understand why they are doing it.
The constituents who brought her their concerns...
does freedom not extend to them also? They don't have a right to at least ask about the books? Which is what they did...and she took their concerns to the city council, which is her job as mayor. Why do you seek to curtail others' freedom in the name of freedom? They did not get what they wanted, but they certainly should have the freedom to ask and be heard. Isn't that exactly what you are saying we must protect??
glad you brought up Gorelick

She's a real dandy, dontcha know.

Another one of the NAGS, carefully hidden away until "time."

We have brought home 2 soldiers
recently to our town, unfortunately, it was too late for them.
I have pictures of O being brought up in Kenya
where he went to school and going to school there costs a lot of money.  I am talking about K-8 grade, not in America and that is during his younger years.
Ok, you brought back credibility to yourself LOL
I'm glad you laughed about my remark. I was waiting to get blasted. :-)

I read the link you provided. Good article. DH reads AOL. I won't read Fox or MSBNC or the others that have an agenda. I think she's a very smart woman and at least she understands the economics we are facing.

I do care about what she says and does in her state. I do hope we see more of her and am sure she has learned a lot because of the campaign. DH & I were saying that when she was running that if McCaina and she lost we would think about moving to Alaska to have her as our governor. However, winter is settling in up there and it's just a bit too cold for us (we would absolutely freeze).

Thanks again for the link - you restored my confidence in you. HA HA

They haven't been brought to trial yet....(sm)
because a) some of them would be innocent and would have to be set free, and b) Bush obviously had no plan for those who would be found guilty.  Actually, about half of them haven't even been charged yet, much less had a trial.  I honestly think the whole point of Gitmo is torture.  I think that Bush actually thought it was a viable means for gaining information, which has been proven to be incorrect.  Basically, the longer they can keep them there, the longer they can torture.
You brought up a great point. (sm)

I agree, we MUST purchase these things under law or under terms of a mortgage agreement.

But the premiums we pay are in line with what we're insuring.  For example, we're not forced to pay the same premium for a two-bedroom home that a multimillionaire would pay for a 56-room mansion.  We're not forced to pay the same premium for a 1980 Chevy that a multimillionaire would pay for a Rolls Royce.

That distinction doesn't hold true with medical "insurance," and that's partly where the problem lies.

This is a really BIG mess....

instead of talk radio or Gore's electrice bill. I am referring to Libby's trial,

Well....he was convicted of perjury and if he in fact did lie under oath to the grand jury, he should go to jail.  That being said...why not pardon him?  Clinton was cited for exactly the same things...lying under oath (perjury) before a grand jury and obstruction of justice.  He is free as a bird, finished his term as President, making money hand over fist....yes, for that reason alone I think Libby should be pardoned to level the playing field again.  If liberals were happy that Clinton walked, they should not scream bloody murder if Bush does pardon Libby.  Because it is the very same thing and would expose the hypocrisy BIG time.  But, that has never stopped them before, has it?

the firing of 8 judges,

I am having a hard time finding much usable information about this.  What I can find are various blogs that lean hard right or hard left and not much fact.  I saw where it was stated that they were fired for cause, citing one refused to file death penalty cases, one refused to file immigration cases, yada yada.  But I did not really find anything compelling and not in a blog that compelled me to fall either way on this.  I don't see any reason to think they were not fired for cause...don't see anything in writing to convince me either.

Pete Domineci,

If you are talking about the firing of David Iglesias, I am not much buying it that the administration fired him because of something he did or did not do back during the presidential election.  I can't find any evidence to prove that.  It is of concern to me that Iglesias held that information all this time, and now that he has been fired brings it forward.  He said himself, or at least was quoted as saying, he had no proof that his firing was related to that.  It sounds like sour grapes for being fired to me.  Typical, human reaction to being fired.  But because it is a political position, the sour grapes are made public.

the unnecessary and ever rising numbers of dead - everywhere, 40 towns in Vermont calling for impeachment (of course this won't go anywhere but the gesture is telling),

Nothing much to say about this.  Wars kill people.  Most of the Iraqi deaths are at the hands of other Arabs.  You can blame that on America if you wish.  I choose not to.  More Iraqis are coming forward and fingering the bad guys, and that is what it is going to take.  We have had a lot of successes.  Of course, you have to watch Fox to see them.  CNN studiously ignores such things as it does not fit their agenda.  As do the networks.  I hope you are not going to suggest that Fox has a soundstage where they fake the reports.

a pardon for Libby (and does he have to admit guilt to be pardoned which he has not done), the fact that Libby was the attorney to the much maligned Marc Rich who was pardoned by Clinton, which was also much maligned. Was Scooter as evil as Clinton for having defended him in his dealings with Iran and his tax evasion as Clinton was for pardoning him ??  If all this was just about infighting between the FBI and the administration and George Tenet, then why did Libby lie at all; wouldn't be important enough to lie about, IMHO. Throwing it out there.

This whole thing smacks of getting back, to me.  More interesting to me than Scooter and Marc, is Fitzgerald and Comey.  Fitzgerald and Comey were both prosecutors working on the Marc Rich case.  Obviously they were not happy when they were on the eve of an indictment when Rich ran (wonder who leaked to him that the indictment was imminent) and were even more UNhappy when Clinton pardoned him.  And who should be now prosecuting Scooter?  And who did most of the investigation?  Why, that would be Fitzgerald and Mr. Comey.  Which is why I think they went for Scooter's throat and did not indict the man who REALLY leaked the information, Richard Armitage.  Payback in politics is hael, my friend!!

No he isn't. He's trying to mess up
my debate party!
Yep...that's a mess....(sm)

I will have to admit though that I don't know that much about that aspect of it.  I do know there is some controversy surrounding the whole Hezbullah vs Hamas and Lebanon vs Gaza.  I obviously have some catching up to do on that one...LOL.

I do think, however, that Hamas kind of got a bad rap because they couldn't keep up with the demands for food, housing, etc, and particularly the distribution of aid....?  However, I also think that it's kind of hard to keep that flow of aid going when Israel is attacking incoming ships that carry that aid.  With that and the constant bombardment from Isreal in a military sense on the ground, I think it kind of put them on shaky ground to begin with.

I think in the end the success of whoever wins will be very dependent upon us being able to control Israel.
