child support is not considered a garnishment -

Posted By: Amanda on 2008-10-15
In Reply to: It isn't the Navy holding her child support - Ex-Navy and Ex-wife

He darn well makes enough to pay her what he owes her and even if they won't hold it out of his check, then he is still responsible for paying it and should be sending the difference.

Child support is not like a regular garnishment - it is a court order, not just something the military can decide whether they want to do or not. What they ordered is not an unreasonable amount.

My husband's child support sure comes out of his check even though it is 42% of his pay since he is on disability now because of an on the job injury. When he went to court because he was getting behind, the judge told him she did not care if he was working or not, that he better come up with 100% of the money every week or go to jail - that her order was her order; so out of a $300 weekly check, the mom gets $124.13 a week.

My daughter's ex is sitting up there making more babies (at last count, 3 more to 3 different moms), has already paid for another abortion that we know about, and driving new cars and living in a very nice apartment complex, while my daughter cannot clothe her children without help, and guess what, he is good friends with the commander who told my daughter if she needed child support of more than $400 a month then she did not need her children and needed to give them to their dad (who by the way has only seen the 1 year old daughter 1 time in her life)...

The thing is, in the state of Georgia, he is getting further and further behind and so hopefully the next step is to pull his security clearance so that he loses the job in the Navy he wants, then when he is discharged in April and moves back to Georgia, they are going to pull his driver's license and also start holding his federal income taxes this year.

How can they support the child
if the child is aborted? Quite a few women get pregnant and have abortions without even saying anything to the father...

Keeping pants zipped goes both ways...
It isn't the Navy holding her child support

The federal government has rules concerning how much of someone's paycheck that you can garnish.  I personally was in the Navy (in payroll of all things) and when I went through my divorce, the court ordered a whole $325 a month for 2 kids (both in daycare at $120/week/per kid).  We were both discharged just prior to the divorce and he purposely took a job that paid $6 an hour, working 20 hours a week.  The judge, out of the kindness of his heart, based the child support on him making $6/hr at 40 hours, not the 20 he was working.  He was capable of making more, but wanted to tick me off.  BUT, you cannot garnish more than 60% of ones wages and if back support is owed, not more than 65% with the 5% going to pay off the arreage.

There are certain things that you can take into consideration when they garnish your wages (most states make it mandatory now).  In the military, they cannot include your food ration money, housing money, uniform money and whatever extras they have these days.  They can only include your base salary.  Being that military pay royally sucks, I can see where they are not handing over everything that is owed, especially if he is lower ranking.

I know it bites the big one and I feel for your daughter, being that I have been there, but she can get through it and be stronger for it.  She needs to show her kids that she can hold her head up high and trudge on.  I'll keep her in my prayers.

Who in the world would want to give birth to a child a child conceived during rape?????..nm
Again:L How many children do you have?
Is Obama losing support or winning support?
John Clodfelter of Mechanicsville, Va., whose son was among the 17 sailors killed in the Cole bombing, said he arrived at the meeting with apprehension over the decision to close the prison. But after listening to the president and being assured that the terrorism suspects would not be released, Mr. Clodfelter said his opinion changed.

“I did not vote for the man,” Mr. Clodfelter said, “but the way he talks to you, you can’t help but believe in him. He left me with a very positive feeling that he’s going to get this done right.”
Have you ever considered that..(sm)
dems would love to see Rush running for pres or become a serious voice in the pub party?  The farther right the pubs go, the better the vote for dems.  There is no way that Rush doctrine would be able to win an election, so why not see if we can goad him into trying.  Looks like he's going for it -- check mate....LOL
So is this considered a bad thing?

Seriously, have you ever considered an antipsychotic?
??
CNN is considered reputable right?
This is one I found from CNN with Barack's half brother, George. I respect the fact that George says he isn't expecting a handout from his brother. A lot of Americans can learn from him!

Still, I can't help but wonder why Obama wouldn't at least make an effort to help his village. If he wasn't talking so much about "world changing" and what not I wouldn't ask, but since he is, shouldn't he start with his family? It would sadden me greatly to see even a half brother or sister living like that.

This is the video.

Not trying to smear, just asking a legitimate question.
Shouldn't you have considered all that BEFORE you

As an IC, I'm considered a small business, so
but not really sure which will benefit me the most. ICs must all think like small businesses and consider taxes based on that, not as individual taxpayers.

I actually don't agree with either one on all tax issues, so I'm still on the fence. I doubt Barack will be able to enact and MAINTAIN the tax cuts he has promised. I agree with giving seniors a break on taxes when they are on a limited budget, for example, but Barack has said seniors making less than $50K. That means if they make $49K (which is more than I make, BTW), they don't have to pay ANY taxes?? Lower that amount a tad and I might see it as reasonable, but a senior making more than me, receiving senior discounts, Medicare, etc., and then not having to pay taxes. Seems a little off balance somehow.

And simplifying tax preparation isn't one of my top priorities, I have TurboTax for that. A lot of his other tax proposals pretty much mirror McCain's so I don't see much difference there, like the R&D, small biz, etc. I like his ideas on taxes, but IMO, his website is full of promises that he will have a VERY hard time fulfilling.

I like that Barack addresses credit card practices. I feel this is a BIG problem. Good creditworthy people are getting screwed by shady practices of credit card companies left and right. I don't see where McCain has addressed this.

I like McCain's summer gas tax holiday, lowering gas prices in the summer, since historically, gas prices always climb through summer especially around the holidays. I also like his HOME plan, as this would make the people truly affected by subprime loans eligible to trade their mortgage. But probably what I like most is McCain's view on healthcare - restoring control to the PATIENTS. I know people that live in countries with Government provided healthcare, and they do not have any more control over that than any of us with paid insurance policies do. I feel the only way to change this issue is to crack down on the insurance companies, force their hands to make premiums more affordable, make them honor their premium terms, limit their restrictions on patients and pre-existing conditions, and do not allow them to tell patients what procedures they can and can't have and what doctors they can and can't see.
I am independent and considered Obama, but
nm
I seriously considered voting for Bob Barr

I don't want to waste my vote though and there is no way that Bob Barr can win.  So why take votes away from McCain?  My goal this election is to keep Obama out of office.

No, I haven't considered it, and the people who own dailykos...
have owned up to it, apparently, because of the firestorm it caused. It is exactly the kind of stuff dailykos engages in on a daily basis.
Only if I felt that all available options had been considered and rejected...sm
How long has the US had nuclear weapons? More than 60 years. Iran, if they have any capability, it is very limited. Any serious threat or attack by them would only result in their ultimate annihilation. However extremist they may be, they know that.
Our Founding Fathers were considered terrorists. sm
God forbid, there are people out there who want to defend our Constitution. Americans should be ashamed of themselves for letting things go this far. Real change needs to come from us. It should alarm people. Stalin, Mao, and Hitler used the same tactics to stifle dissent. People who support the Independent Party, Christians, and pro lifers are also on it. DHS distributed that memo to 70 or 80 different fusion centers throughout the US. Many thanks are due the concerned and honest police officer who leaked the one that went to Missouri.
Why is fairness in taxation considered a handout? This isn't welfare... it's paying the right

Bush considered taking Obama's approach last summer
efforts to forge peace in Israel/Palestine.

Bush floated the idea of re-establishing a diplomatic US interests section in Tehran last summer which for the time being has been shelved.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081004/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_iran_no_deal

Here's the no-brainer rule-of-thumb on this topic. If you wwant war, you don't negotiate with opponents. If you want peace, you sit down aat the table.

When evaluating the credibility of this ad, as yourself that basic question..."Who stands to benefit the most" by taking this position? As they have demonstrated over the past 60 years, it is in Zionist's best interest to perpetuate war in their region. They have been able to enrich their nation immensely with US taxpayer dollars and enjoy an uncontested nuclear bully status in the region as the US's most favorite global puppet. The notion that the US would promote peace or stability in the region would diminish their status exponentially and are the last nation on earth that would like to see the US play the disarmament card.
Apparently Barr, Ron Paul, & Baldwin supporters are considered terrorists. sm
A Missouri State Policeman leaked this information last week. This should raise some alarm bells. Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, and Bob Barr are supposed to be preparing statements about it.

O's votes support his claims. JM's votes support Bush.
Believe what you like. Voting records tell the tale. Could use a few more details on that budget. Just what programs will he slash and and how many tax dollars will be directed away from middle class and in the direction of the rich? How much longer can the infrastructure afford to crumble?

JM adopted O's withdrawal plan when he saw how well it went over with the public in an election year. He flipped on the war once. What's to stop him from flipping again once elected? The nation is war weary. Some prefer a surge in diplomacy, not military answers to diplomatic failures. Ask the Iraqis who have lost more than 100,000 among them how sucessful the war has been. Obama has always understood that the OBL/Taliban live in Afganistan, not Iraq. JM, a little slow on the draw there.

I see nothing in JMs platform that backs his claims about transparency. I see specific plan on the O side under technology initiatives, continued initiatives which originated under Clinton and were reversed during the undercover Bush administration. Pork barrel spending for pubs means something different than it does to dems. Slash the poor to give to the rich? Hard seel in the current economic frefall. Also find nothing in JM's plan to address runaway contract corruption in Iraq. Having Halliburton and companies there props up those struggling American corporations. Show me the plan.

Antiglobal/antidiplomacy. No surprise there. This is about the futureworld, not American imperial delusions of grandeur. So much data on the drilling scam being an immediate relief for gas problems out there it is not worth addressing. Can you say T-Bone Pickens, i.e., we can't drill our way out of this one. He should know. Been an oil man all his life.

Since these are just a few, what else do you have up your sleeve?
oh yea... not a child...
even though before most know they are pregnant the heart is already beating...

I haven't seen the video, I don't think I need to because I myself will never have an abortion, but just like any procedure I would have done I would think I would want to know what it involves so you maybe someone having it should watch it!
I bet your child gives you

great joy. I am happy that you found a career where you can be home with your child.  The anti-choice people seem to think as long as every child is BORN things are okay.  It is the caring for them after they are born that does not seem too important to them.

If your child goes to an OB/GYN
or planned parenthood and does not want you to even know about the visit, she only has to fill out a small amount of paperwork and the state will pay for the visit--in California, anyway.
Why does a child
play with matches after a parent forbids it? To see if they can get away with it. ;-)
Were you ignored as a child?
nm
You are a child who cannot understand....

if you are Liberal, post on the Liberals board, etc.

So you take this to mean that you should continually harass the liberal board when you are obviously a con?

And as far as libs posting on the con board, prior to recently it was pretty darn quiet.  And we libs are no match for your uncouth and wretched posts for sheer cruel intent.  No match at all, in general.

I would also tell you the same thing I told my kids when they were little, just because so-and-so is doing it doesn't make it right.  So when you run crying that libs are posting on the con board, it still doesn't make it right - for you or anyone else.  So get out of a 6year-old mentality.  Or are you a 6yearold?

and to me a child in the womb
is already on this Earth...these children are the most vulnerable, but yes I agree with you...we need to take care of those already born IN ADDITION to those in the womb.
The child has no rights?
Have you viewed the video referenced below? Do you really think abortion should be a method of birth control?
Who knows...if we who believe that the unborn child...
has as much right to life as you, your husband and your children (good thing for them you did not want an abortion I guess or they would not exist, we will continue to speak for them. And maybe, someday, the right person will hear, and we as a country can stop the slaughter of innocents to the tune of 1.2 million a year. While you are okay with that on the basis of your choice, we are not. And nothing you can say or do will ever change that either.
How can one's child being in the military sm

equate to a point for foreign affairs experience?  Please explain that to me.  I know a lot of people whose children are in the military, in the war zone and not one of them would say they have foreign affairs experience.  Also, didn't she herself say she doesn't know anything about Iraq.

You try to keep the spotlight on the child.
nm
Maybe the child who got the A cheated or
give more money.  Not all situations are the same.  Furthermore, Obama is the first one to say "leave the kids out of it."  He's for better education.
that is, if the child does not want the parents to know at all
xx
Ah. Okay to kill a child rather than own up to ...
responsibility. I see. Why not just force feed "the pill" from the time a girl reaches menarche. Better than killing the "mistakes" from "raging hormones" along the way. If you can't teach responsibility, and don't intend to make them responsible...put them on the pill.
The child is due today.
They'll probably be crossing each other's paths in the hospital corridors shortly.

Here's the deal, Ms. New Englander. JTBB has summed up the reason I posted in the first place. You can't have it both ways. If you insist on making something out of nothing with Obama and his so-called "affiliations," then you should have no problem when others try to insinuate connections which may or may not be true between two expectant grandmothers.
You are such a child, interested only in
sake. Do you know what leftie means?
OMG...now you get your news from a child!
Please spare us anymore newsflashes that come from children. We have enough problems with credible news sources on this forum without having schoolgirl rumors posted.
Child, listen up.
You have no idea who you are talking to, yet you seem to believe you know all about me. I have voted in 12 presidential elections in my lifetime, the first one being when Barack Obama was 8 years old. I've been active in politics for nearly 45 years, take my vote very seriously and keep myself well informed on all issues from both sides of the aisle.

Your simplistic dismissal of the jobs loss problems as being atrributable to the illegal immigrants only demonstrates how superficial your understanding is on the subject and speaks volumes about the sources for your information. You, my dear, are the follower, not me.

My support of Obama is based on the emergence of the right man at the right time for the job. I did not cast my vote this time around on my own behalf, like years past. This time, I did it for the sake of my son and the kind of world in which I want to see him live out his years and I can assure you, I do not envision that world being handed over to the divisionist viewpoints you have expressed where its okay to single out any given group on which to dump responsibility where it does not belong.
I would not want to put a child into this world, whose
father is a rapist, the child having - as you yourself stated - 1/2 of the father's genes!
No, thanks!
Last Katrina child goes home

Last Katrina child goes home

A mother and her missing daughter are reunited seven months after a hurricane devastated New Orleans

src=http://images.thetimes.co.uk/images/trans.gif

THE last of more than 5,000 children missing after Hurricane Katrina has finally been reunited with her mother, ending the largest child-recovery effort in US history.

After seven months of searching by her mother, amid fears that her daughter had died in the flooding in New Orleans that followed the hurricane in August, four-year-old Cortez Stewart was reunited with her family in Texas.

Cortez was the last of the 5,192 Gulf Coast children listed as missing or displaced after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita struck the region. Of those, all but 12 have been found alive and all of those are now back with their parents.

For Lisa Stewart the happy ending came when she was contacted by the National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children that said it had found her daughter. “I was overwhelmed, happy, joyous,” she said.

During their separation her daughter’s fourth birthday had passed last November with no sign that she was dead or alive. “It was devastating,” Mrs Stewart said.

When the storm struck, Cortez was with her godmother, Felicia Williams. After seeking refuge in a hotel, Cortez and Ms Williams were winched to safety by helicopter and flown to Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs Stewart and her five other children were rescued from their home in New Orleans as the floodwater rose.

They were taken to the nearest piece of dry land, an interstate overpass, where they stayed for four days, before being evacuated and placed in a flat in Houston, Texas. For months Ms Williams and Mrs Stewart tried to make contact, not knowing if the other was alive, but without success. Their efforts were hampered by incorrect name spellings and other misleading information given to government officials.

“Many agencies didn’t have a good account of who they were helping,” Bob O’Brien, director of the centre’s missing children division, said. “More than 411,000 were evacuated to more than 40 states, and it became very hard to track the movement.”

The centre traced information about Ms Williams through her former employer and then located relations in Georgia. When Cortez was reunited with her mother and five siblings last week in Houston, Mrs Stewart almost fell upon her, screaming: “The baby! It’s the baby!”

More than 12,000 adults were reported missing after Katrina. About 1,900 are still missing. More than 1,300 others have been confirmed dead.

Coulter's the poster child for the right.

They obviously emulate her and try to be like her, obviously not realizing or caring how terrible it makes them look.  You can see from these boards that people like her do have a constituency, unfortunately.

I Ms. Schulte gave a very classy and dignified response.

No, Republicans would rather the child live.
instead of being aborted and thrown in the trash, like it was nothing.
They have hearts....they just don't view the child...
as a child. That is how they rationalize it. Because your average person's basic moral values tell them killing a child is wrong. Therefore they deny it is a child. Or they rationalize by saying "I would not have one, but it is not my business if someone else does." Well, yes it is. If we all had that attitude, none of the wrongs in the world would ever be righted.

They should go and view the video link posted below. Anyone who could view THAT and still say it is not a child that is destroyed indeed has a hardened heart. It broke my heart. I have seen abortion video before, but I have never seen anything like that. Like the preface said...you have the guts to view that, you are no longer igorant of what is really happening. Now you have knowledge of the choice you are making or the procedure you are enabling. It is absolutely horrific. And most who are pro choice will NOT watch it because they want to remain in comfortable denial. No one likes to feel guilty. We are designed that way. :)
First of all, all anyone has to go on about the biracial child thing...
was Dem supporters who said that the Bush campaign called them and said those things. First of all, and I don't like the man, Karl Rove is way too smart to have people call and identify themselves as being from the Bush campaign if he was trying to leak something like that. Second, I don't believe for a minute that if it were true and John McCain knew it he wouldn't have clocked Karl Rove. John McCain dislikes Karl Rove as much as I do. They have verbally jousted on many occasions.

And anybody who bothered to check would know the child was adopted from Bangladesh. That was a long time ago, has been debunked, and even if it were true (and I do not believe it is), it is not the same thing as saying on TV that you admired a man and that you would be proud to be on a ticket with him, and then within weeks turn right around and throw him under the bus in such a mean-spirited attack. I thought Joe Biden was better than that, and apparently I also was WRONG.
Yes, this is an innocent child. What if it ISN'T true?
What does this do to that 16-year-old? What about that?
Ignorant or not...many did suggest that the child was hers...
and the reason I say that is that she chose to have the child. The child's father is in their lives; they plan to marry. I believe she is brave to be willing to take this public and still stand beside her mother, and I believe she will hold her head high. She has a wonderful support system and while I am sure it will not be easy, it will be easier than having that other nonsense hanging over her head. I feel sure this was discussed prior to her mother accepting the slot, because, as you say, it was going to come out eventually.
Thanks for your post...you are the poster child...
for liberal mindset. Practicing the ALinsky method of your party and your candidate...if you can't refute, attack.

Yes, I am an MT. Is THIS post supposed to make anyone believe you are an MT or belong in an MT forum? Surely this is not indicative of MTs et al??

Funny how presenting a different view is characterized as "bullying" when you are the poster child for personal attacks.

The last line of your post tells me more about your character than you think you know about mine.

Have a good day! :)
That's right. I'm child-free by choice, and also -
spouse-free at the present time, but if I find someone to marry, I wouldn't want to be told 'no' because that union wasn't for the purpose of propagation. ESPECIALLY in this day and age, when the Earth already has a couple billion too many of our species on it, already.

Having children shouldn't be mandated by anyone. It should be by one's own, personal choice.
Yes, they do need an egg. And a woman to bear the child.
talking about 2 men who want a child. The surrogate only has to be a woman with a uterus. Her sexual orientation, and even her marital status, do not matter. That does not constitute a 'sexual relationship', though. She is artificially inseminated. And of course there is also adoption.
Equating child molesters and

democrats seeking a change in their country is faulty logic.

Ask any child. I robinhood a good guy or a bad guy?
Children like hero stories. That's why we read them this one. They get the idea.
Hate to say it, but you are acting like a child.

You're one of the ones that won't look at issues. You love the O and no one can say anything different. You are allowed to bash McCain and Palin, but never your messiah.

Well, you better wake up and smell the coffee. Maybe you should do some research. There were plenty of Proven Facts about O posted here. Did you read them? Nope. You call them lies. Well, we shall see.

Stop worshiping him. He's only a man.!!!!!
