It isn't the Navy holding her child support

The federal government has rules concerning how much of someone's paycheck that you can garnish.  I personally was in the Navy (in payroll of all things) and when I went through my divorce, the court ordered a whole $325 a month for 2 kids (both in daycare at $120/week/per kid).  We were both discharged just prior to the divorce and he purposely took a job that paid $6 an hour, working 20 hours a week.  The judge, out of the kindness of his heart, based the child support on him making $6/hr at 40 hours, not the 20 he was working.  He was capable of making more, but wanted to tick me off.  BUT, you cannot garnish more than 60% of ones wages and if back support is owed, not more than 65% with the 5% going to pay off the arreage.

There are certain things that you can take into consideration when they garnish your wages (most states make it mandatory now).  In the military, they cannot include your food ration money, housing money, uniform money and whatever extras they have these days.  They can only include your base salary.  Being that military pay royally sucks, I can see where they are not handing over everything that is owed, especially if he is lower ranking.

I know it bites the big one and I feel for your daughter, being that I have been there, but she can get through it and be stronger for it.  She needs to show her kids that she can hold her head up high and trudge on.  I'll keep her in my prayers.

How can they support the child
if the child is aborted? Quite a few women get pregnant and have abortions without even saying anything to the father...

Keeping pants zipped goes both ways...
child support is not considered a garnishment -
He darn well makes enough to pay her what he owes her and even if they won't hold it out of his check, then he is still responsible for paying it and should be sending the difference.

Child support is not like a regular garnishment - it is a court order, not just something the military can decide whether they want to do or not. What they ordered is not an unreasonable amount.

My husband's child support sure comes out of his check even though it is 42% of his pay since he is on disability now because of an on the job injury. When he went to court because he was getting behind, the judge told him she did not care if he was working or not, that he better come up with 100% of the money every week or go to jail - that her order was her order; so out of a $300 weekly check, the mom gets $124.13 a week.

My daughter's ex is sitting up there making more babies (at last count, 3 more to 3 different moms), has already paid for another abortion that we know about, and driving new cars and living in a very nice apartment complex, while my daughter cannot clothe her children without help, and guess what, he is good friends with the commander who told my daughter if she needed child support of more than $400 a month then she did not need her children and needed to give them to their dad (who by the way has only seen the 1 year old daughter 1 time in her life)...

The thing is, in the state of Georgia, he is getting further and further behind and so hopefully the next step is to pull his security clearance so that he loses the job in the Navy he wants, then when he is discharged in April and moves back to Georgia, they are going to pull his driver's license and also start holding his federal income taxes this year.

Who in the world would want to give birth to a child a child conceived during rape?????..nm
Again:L How many children do you have?
Thanks to NAVY SEALS! All Obama did
nm
No, but we'd expect a thank you to the Navy Seals
You act as thought Obama did put on a wetsuit and jump into the water himself.

To thank Obama for giving the orders so the Seals could rescue him is one thing, but to post and treat it like Obama and Obama alone rescued the captain is ludicris.

Did you even say thanks to the Navy Seals for risking their lives....I highly doubt it.
Isn't that great?! Our Navy Seal snipers took out
nm
..and who is COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE NAVY SEALS??
.
..and who is COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE NAVY SEALS??
That's right - the Navy Seals can't go in on their own without orders so she is right on....

THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!
Is Obama losing support or winning support?
John Clodfelter of Mechanicsville, Va., whose son was among the 17 sailors killed in the Cole bombing, said he arrived at the meeting with apprehension over the decision to close the prison. But after listening to the president and being assured that the terrorism suspects would not be released, Mr. Clodfelter said his opinion changed.

“I did not vote for the man,” Mr. Clodfelter said, “but the way he talks to you, you can’t help but believe in him. He left me with a very positive feeling that he’s going to get this done right.”
Yes, giving the NAVY SEALS the order is a good thing
Although they really didn't need his okay, but I'll give you that. It was a good decision, but cripes, professing that he is a hero???? The NAVY SEALS are the hero's. The NAVY SEALS are the ones who rescued him. The O did not accompany them and help rescue this guy. You HATE the fact that we are bringing up a valid point...the O did not board the ship and help bring the Captain home. He gave an order. There is nothing to eat crow about. And because he gave an order that it was okay for them to go in certainly doesn't mean he's "doing good for the country". This is one incident. Good for the country????? Let's see bail outs, trillion dollar deficitis, more bail outs, pork filled spending bills, more bail out, lining up a cabinet filled with crooks and people who don't pay taxes, raising taxes on middle income, enforcing the patriot act worse than the previous administration, telling other countries Americans are selfish and other things, bowing to an enemy leader, etc etc etc. This is not "doing good for the country" and the Obama worshipers/lovers won't admit this. Your lord is not doing good for the country.

We're you proud of Bush when he gave the orders to rescue the hostages in Iran, or Jessica Lynch from WV, or any of the other orders to rescue hostages? No, you did not profess to be proud of him.

So that's the way it goes here with the Obama lovers.

Obama issues an order to save a captain - You and others reply - "Thank you Obama, I'm so proud of you, you're just the bestest ever President in the whole wide world".

Bush issues an order to save hostages in Iran, Jessica Lynch and other hostages in different areas - you and others reply - "So what, he's just a moron".

Tell me where the sense is that? It's called none!
I have been holding my tongue on that ...sm
It is interesting though. These were Bush, Reagan, Ford and Clinton appointees that made this decision (5-3). And I see where the right is upset, but to me it is pivotal that they followed the law and not beliefs and I'll tell you why.

Charles Lane, writer for the Washington Times wrote (see link below), *Brushing aside administration pleas not to second-guess the commander in chief during wartime, a five-justice majority ruled that the commissions, which were outlined by Bush in a military order on Nov. 13, 2001, ***were neither authorized by federal law nor required by military necessity, and ran afoul of the Geneva Conventions.*** As a result, no military commission can try Salim Ahmed Hamdan, the former aide to Osama bin Laden whose case was before the justices, or anyone else, unless the president does one of two things he has resisted doing for more than four years: operate the commissions by the rules of regular military courts-martial, or ask Congress for specific permission to proceed differently.*

Looking at it this way, *Bush* NOT the Supreme Court, has held this up for four years when he could have done the prior one or two things. No president can just willy nilly make up things as he goes without going through the proper channels. This case is no different. Checks and balances is taught in elementary nowadays. I predict as he ways he will, he will get with Congress and they will collectively make a decision on something that will bring the POWs to justice (wishful thinking).

Do I want to see bin Laden's assistant, or any other war criminals walk? No, especially not the perpetrators in the 9-11 attacks. That's something I do not want to see come of this decision, but we must respect our own democracy in seeking justice.

This is just my opinion of what I understand is going on with the decision. If anyone can shed some more light on it I'd appreciate it. Have a good holiday weekend!
I'm not holding my breath......sm
I'll believe Obama gives me a tax cut when it happens, as well as help out with my health insurance. Can't tell from his website how "exactly" that's going to happen. His website if filled with a whole lot of words that are meaningless to me. Sounds good, but I don't see a lot of substance there, just like when he was campaigning.

Not holding my breath, but I'll come back and tell you if either of those things happen.

Not a Republican even though I leaned towards McCain over Obama, since he's such an unknown (and still is), and I actually decided I couldn't vote for McCain either....so my vote went to neither of them.

Who's holding a gun to your head? Don't like him
Simple as pie. Why spend your life being angry and posting these pathetically juvenile insults? Nothing better to do?
What's holding Edwards back?

Still holding out that last desperate hope
DNC has proven this over and over and over and over and over again. Burden or proof is now on the Berg the Boob.
the world is holding their breath
After 9/11 would the United States really elect a black man named Barack Hussein Obama?
Right now on C-Span, they are holding hearings
for the auto bailout. It's just starting.
We're not holding our breath. Owning up

James Montgomery, Esq. is holding a press

conference. Jesse Jackson, Jr. is "candidate #5" and he thinks Blagojevich should step aside and resign and let the Lt. Gov. take over. He states JJ, Jr. is qualified for the position.

He states JJ, Jr. is not guity of anything. He is not worried about any consequences of this except the media frenzy that is being created by this. If the meeting between the Gov. and JJ, Jr. was taped, they have no concern over it.

He (JJ, Jr.) will be speaking with the investigators on Friday or Monday. He will be holding a press conference in 15-16 minutes.

There is a picture of her in a bathing suit holding
a gun...does that count?
Holding people accountable and blaming

people are 2 different things.  Blaming either party will get us nowhere.  The situation is upon us and the blame game is only holding up the resolution.

Holding people accountable may help to prevent a similar situation in the future.  Holding someone accountable means owning up to their part in the problem and making retribution to fix the problem.  If someone went along with this and gained financially from it, then that person should be accountable - own up and pay up.  If someone went along with this and gained politically, then that person should be accountable - own up and give up (your position).

I took serious offense to your comment because you didn't say it was directed to the politicians on the hill.  You said as a general statement to all dems.

so quit talking and start doing -- what's holding you

Thinking good thoughts and holding him up...:-) nm

Not bickering. Holding feet to fire. Like GP...
and I agreed to. Have a good night!
If that's the case, I'm holding a bake sale.
If my sending money to Israel can help them buy bombs to nuke the Palestinians off the face of the planet, I'm cutting them a check right now.

KaBOOOOOOM!

I'm not predicting anything...just holding onto that new 4-letter word
YES WE CAN
O's votes support his claims. JM's votes support Bush.
Believe what you like. Voting records tell the tale. Could use a few more details on that budget. Just what programs will he slash and and how many tax dollars will be directed away from middle class and in the direction of the rich? How much longer can the infrastructure afford to crumble?

JM adopted O's withdrawal plan when he saw how well it went over with the public in an election year. He flipped on the war once. What's to stop him from flipping again once elected? The nation is war weary. Some prefer a surge in diplomacy, not military answers to diplomatic failures. Ask the Iraqis who have lost more than 100,000 among them how sucessful the war has been. Obama has always understood that the OBL/Taliban live in Afganistan, not Iraq. JM, a little slow on the draw there.

I see nothing in JMs platform that backs his claims about transparency. I see specific plan on the O side under technology initiatives, continued initiatives which originated under Clinton and were reversed during the undercover Bush administration. Pork barrel spending for pubs means something different than it does to dems. Slash the poor to give to the rich? Hard seel in the current economic frefall. Also find nothing in JM's plan to address runaway contract corruption in Iraq. Having Halliburton and companies there props up those struggling American corporations. Show me the plan.

Antiglobal/antidiplomacy. No surprise there. This is about the futureworld, not American imperial delusions of grandeur. So much data on the drilling scam being an immediate relief for gas problems out there it is not worth addressing. Can you say T-Bone Pickens, i.e., we can't drill our way out of this one. He should know. Been an oil man all his life.

Since these are just a few, what else do you have up your sleeve?
Oh...forum domination. Someone holding your hands behind your back....
and preventing you from posting? Or don't you have a cause you care enough about TO post?
That was not the question....Gitmo is a holding area for terrorists...
The Hanoi Hilton housed American soldiers. And yes, I think it is VERY important that a presidential candidate is a patriot, has integrity, strong in the face of unimaginable pressure, and puts his country even before himself. Yes, I think all those are VERY strong criteria for the Presidency. Obama has nothing in his resume to indicate that he is that patriotic, that UNself-serving, showed that he put his fellow prisoners above himself...and you compare that to a terrorist in Gitmo. Good grief. ??
Yep...and today he is holding a town hall in France...
yukking it up with Europe as his own country circles the drain....pittiiiffullll.
Remember Bush holding hands with Prince Abdullah???
So as far as reading anything into Obama trying to get our nation back on the right track, thank God what was here before no longer around.
oh yea... not a child...
even though before most know they are pregnant the heart is already beating...

I haven't seen the video, I don't think I need to because I myself will never have an abortion, but just like any procedure I would have done I would think I would want to know what it involves so you maybe someone having it should watch it!
I bet your child gives you

great joy. I am happy that you found a career where you can be home with your child.  The anti-choice people seem to think as long as every child is BORN things are okay.  It is the caring for them after they are born that does not seem too important to them.

If your child goes to an OB/GYN
or planned parenthood and does not want you to even know about the visit, she only has to fill out a small amount of paperwork and the state will pay for the visit--in California, anyway.
Why does a child
play with matches after a parent forbids it? To see if they can get away with it. ;-)
Were you ignored as a child?
nm
You are a child who cannot understand....

if you are Liberal, post on the Liberals board, etc.

So you take this to mean that you should continually harass the liberal board when you are obviously a con?

And as far as libs posting on the con board, prior to recently it was pretty darn quiet.  And we libs are no match for your uncouth and wretched posts for sheer cruel intent.  No match at all, in general.

I would also tell you the same thing I told my kids when they were little, just because so-and-so is doing it doesn't make it right.  So when you run crying that libs are posting on the con board, it still doesn't make it right - for you or anyone else.  So get out of a 6year-old mentality.  Or are you a 6yearold?

and to me a child in the womb
is already on this Earth...these children are the most vulnerable, but yes I agree with you...we need to take care of those already born IN ADDITION to those in the womb.
The child has no rights?
Have you viewed the video referenced below? Do you really think abortion should be a method of birth control?
Who knows...if we who believe that the unborn child...
has as much right to life as you, your husband and your children (good thing for them you did not want an abortion I guess or they would not exist, we will continue to speak for them. And maybe, someday, the right person will hear, and we as a country can stop the slaughter of innocents to the tune of 1.2 million a year. While you are okay with that on the basis of your choice, we are not. And nothing you can say or do will ever change that either.
How can one's child being in the military sm

equate to a point for foreign affairs experience?  Please explain that to me.  I know a lot of people whose children are in the military, in the war zone and not one of them would say they have foreign affairs experience.  Also, didn't she herself say she doesn't know anything about Iraq.

You try to keep the spotlight on the child.
nm
Maybe the child who got the A cheated or
give more money.  Not all situations are the same.  Furthermore, Obama is the first one to say "leave the kids out of it."  He's for better education.
that is, if the child does not want the parents to know at all
xx
Ah. Okay to kill a child rather than own up to ...
responsibility. I see. Why not just force feed "the pill" from the time a girl reaches menarche. Better than killing the "mistakes" from "raging hormones" along the way. If you can't teach responsibility, and don't intend to make them responsible...put them on the pill.
The child is due today.
They'll probably be crossing each other's paths in the hospital corridors shortly.

Here's the deal, Ms. New Englander. JTBB has summed up the reason I posted in the first place. You can't have it both ways. If you insist on making something out of nothing with Obama and his so-called "affiliations," then you should have no problem when others try to insinuate connections which may or may not be true between two expectant grandmothers.
You are such a child, interested only in
sake. Do you know what leftie means?
OMG...now you get your news from a child!
Please spare us anymore newsflashes that come from children. We have enough problems with credible news sources on this forum without having schoolgirl rumors posted.
Child, listen up.
You have no idea who you are talking to, yet you seem to believe you know all about me. I have voted in 12 presidential elections in my lifetime, the first one being when Barack Obama was 8 years old. I've been active in politics for nearly 45 years, take my vote very seriously and keep myself well informed on all issues from both sides of the aisle.

Your simplistic dismissal of the jobs loss problems as being atrributable to the illegal immigrants only demonstrates how superficial your understanding is on the subject and speaks volumes about the sources for your information. You, my dear, are the follower, not me.

My support of Obama is based on the emergence of the right man at the right time for the job. I did not cast my vote this time around on my own behalf, like years past. This time, I did it for the sake of my son and the kind of world in which I want to see him live out his years and I can assure you, I do not envision that world being handed over to the divisionist viewpoints you have expressed where its okay to single out any given group on which to dump responsibility where it does not belong.
I would not want to put a child into this world, whose
father is a rapist, the child having - as you yourself stated - 1/2 of the father's genes!
No, thanks!
Last Katrina child goes home

Last Katrina child goes home

A mother and her missing daughter are reunited seven months after a hurricane devastated New Orleans

THE last of more than 5,000 children missing after Hurricane Katrina has finally been reunited with her mother, ending the largest child-recovery effort in US history.

After seven months of searching by her mother, amid fears that her daughter had died in the flooding in New Orleans that followed the hurricane in August, four-year-old Cortez Stewart was reunited with her family in Texas.

Cortez was the last of the 5,192 Gulf Coast children listed as missing or displaced after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita struck the region. Of those, all but 12 have been found alive and all of those are now back with their parents.

For Lisa Stewart the happy ending came when she was contacted by the National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children that said it had found her daughter. “I was overwhelmed, happy, joyous,” she said.

During their separation her daughter’s fourth birthday had passed last November with no sign that she was dead or alive. “It was devastating,” Mrs Stewart said.

When the storm struck, Cortez was with her godmother, Felicia Williams. After seeking refuge in a hotel, Cortez and Ms Williams were winched to safety by helicopter and flown to Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs Stewart and her five other children were rescued from their home in New Orleans as the floodwater rose.

They were taken to the nearest piece of dry land, an interstate overpass, where they stayed for four days, before being evacuated and placed in a flat in Houston, Texas. For months Ms Williams and Mrs Stewart tried to make contact, not knowing if the other was alive, but without success. Their efforts were hampered by incorrect name spellings and other misleading information given to government officials.

“Many agencies didn’t have a good account of who they were helping,” Bob O’Brien, director of the centre’s missing children division, said. “More than 411,000 were evacuated to more than 40 states, and it became very hard to track the movement.”

The centre traced information about Ms Williams through her former employer and then located relations in Georgia. When Cortez was reunited with her mother and five siblings last week in Houston, Mrs Stewart almost fell upon her, screaming: “The baby! It’s the baby!”

More than 12,000 adults were reported missing after Katrina. About 1,900 are still missing. More than 1,300 others have been confirmed dead.
