not that it matters, but I'm thinking maybe it wasn't

a reputable site.  I've never seen catastrophe spelled with a y.  I could be wrong, but we all know you have to be careful when it comes to these sites, and I don't think there are 2 spellings.

You are right, I was wrong. Wasn't thinking. nm

Forget it! I wasn't thinking straight. sm
I just went the whole way out and then back into Bayscribe to recover the job.
you're right, about SE taxes; wasn't thinking about IC status with that.
nm
LOL I wasn't even thinking Xbox and Game Cube, but there
is a rapper named Ice Cube. He's the boyfriend/husband in Are We There Yet? and Are We Done Yet?
That wasn't my experience there. I wasn't on that kind of all-inclusive acct, either. nm

No not that it matters
But the QT tech office with the office help is off Race Track Road, have been there personally, the address on the checks on East Lake is a small office complex, someone else from QT told me it is the office of the accountant.
It's not the cpl that matters (sm);
it's what you can make per hour. I'd rather work on an account at 8 cpl where I'm paid for everything and easily do 350-400 lph than be given 9.5 cpl but struggle do to 150 lph.

Unfortunately, there's no quick way to judge an account's productivity. One has to work at it for a couple weeks.

Good way to judge account: what is average lines/min dictation? 10+ is decent.
It's HOW they tell you that matters,
but to be fair, QA in general is often a mismanaged part of the picture...

It's not enough to just to HAVE a QA department, you have to make it work WITH the MTs in cyberspace - Team effort versus playing the GOTCHA! game.

I don't know if this matters or not
(probably it does) but the recruiter who helped me also works as an MT for the company.  She was able to provide lots of details that most recruiters can't and she had a true understanding of my situation and my needs.  We talked for quite a while and I felt like she was being straight with me.
Like anything else, it's the fit that matters
Just like people, some relationships work and some don't. It's called choice.
At first I was thinking that you were being unrealistic, not thinking about taxes, benefits, etc. bu
surprised to find that you are not asking the moon. Let me clarify a few things: Rates charged are not as high as 0.25 per line, but no one that has U.S. employees goes as low as 0.115 or they would not be able to pay their bills. A more realistic range is 0.125-0.165, and that top end is hard to find, most falling at 0.14-0.15 per line.

The rates of pay you propose are very reasonable IF the following is true: These are seasoned MTs who do not need a lot of hand-holding, QA or blanks filled in, unless a very difficult/impossible doctor.

How about a scale based on experience and accuracy of 0.09 - 0.105 per line (acute care), and $1.15-$1.30 per report (radiology)?

The VR one is tough as everyone, MTs and MTSOs and facilities are still feeling their way on this. As an MTSO who was an MT, I feel that VR editing is as difficult to do as regular transcription. I don't think that it should be substantially less pay or charged less as the end product is still the same.

Funny thing here? My company already follows that scale. We should work together, not at odds, to reinforce this industry and bring it back to where it should be, right here in the U.S.A. with a decent paycheck.
Only experience matters....
and even though I was impressed with the Atlanta office it was really Florida that I was interested in.

I don't think I said sex/love had anything to do with anything. So I'm laughing at your response. I'm just dissappointed at the financial picture and it doesn't look good. High turnover in the corporate office is not a good sign.

Forgive me if I implied anything, a mind has the freedom to wander, I don't know why Tara said that, maybe she had an off morning? Maybe his personality was cute? I don't really know why the comment, but it is funny and odd. Not what I was expecting either.
They are the best company for ME and that is all that matters. sm
I love the account I am on and make the amount that I need to make and want to make. I know my check is correct and it is in my bank when it is supposed to be. I am treated with respect and have a good rapport with my lead. I know that I am fortunate, especially as the other companies I worked at prior to Keystrokes were missing at least one of those important ingredients for me.

I have found that they are the best out there, but that is my opinion.

What I hate about these boards is that those who have bad things to say act as though those of us with good things to say are recruiters or managers or crazy or lying. What gives them the right to say that they are right, and I am wrong? We may just have had different experiences. The ones that bother me the most are the people who jump all over you when they have never worked at the place they are working. I contacted three nay-sayers when I was interviewing with Keystrokes two years ago, and ALL OF THEM told me that they had never actually worked there. UGH.
Of course the recruiter matters

They are your first impression of the company.  If the recruiter is not honest, it is very likely the rest of the company will be the same.

I personally interviewed with them in the past and the recruiter was very shady.  I asked her if I would be paid for templates and she stated she didn't know what I was talking about.  I asked her if she could find out for me, but I never did get a straight answer.  I received an offer, which I declined.  An MT friend of mine decided to accept an offer with them right around the same time and she ended up leaving within a few weeks.  She said the recruiter made promises which the company did not keep.  She was promised a certain report type and would receive 8 or 9 reports in 1 day...definitely not enough to keep anyone busy.  Anyway, I am glad I turned them down.  I knew right away by the recruiter's attitude that it wouldn't work for me, and my friend confirmed that with her experience.

I don't think it really matters! Too twisted at

I think you have to use their equipment, if that matters at all. I prefer my own. nm

There are clicks. Too many companies on the net that it matters though. nm

Almighty computer matters - not MT or quality

My primary is going to VR this week.  Here are my instructions:

We don't care about BOS rules any more.  It will only confuse the computer.  If the doc starts a sentence with a number, its OK now.  Verbatim, verbatim, verbatim.

We don't care about demographics any more.  That's the price the hospital pays for switching to VR.  I'm no longer paid to be concerned about HIPAA violations, and my ability to do so has just been removed.

We don't care about cleaning up the sentences any more, so we won't worry about tense agreement, pleural agreement, a vs an, etc.  My job now is to train the computer to make me obsolete.  My only interest should be to make sure the computer typed exactly what the doc said.  EXACTLY - if he said there is multiple lesions, that's what the corrected report needs to say.  If I change is to are, the poor computer will get confused, and its what matters.

See, before they were paying me to fix the garbled mess they dictated, and know what they meant and make it so.  Now they're paying me less to train their computer.  The computer is all that matters here.  Not what's right and wrong IMO.

OK, I'm not an MT any more.  I'm a computer trainer, and so are the docs that prefer it over me.  Everyone agrees I'm worth less pay in this capacity.  The docs will be directly in charge of fixing their own mistakes (yeah, provided they even NOTICE them).  I may, out of the kindness of my heart, put a note on a report with a glaring doctor error, but its not required or expected of me any more, and I'm certainly not being paid to fix it and in fact must now train myself not to do so, for the sake of the computer's learning curve.

I think I understand.  Garbage in, garbage out.  My job is simply to make sure the computer PERFECTLY understands the garbage coming in, and when it does, I will have no job any more.  I can simply trust that the docs (who are smart, important college graduates) won't speak any more errors, and not concern myself if they do, as I have relinquished my MT status and MT pay for the glory of making less money to help a machine hasten my obsolesence.  Ain't progress great?

Very heavy Indian affilitation and tech support, if that matters to ya. nm

Font size matters for gross line, so do margins
less lines because more fits on a line. First person asked how a gross line compares to 65 chars. If it's 12 font with 1 margins, it's about 1-1/2 to 2x 65 char line count, i.e., 7 cents per gross line would be around 8.5 to 9 cents per 65 char.
They told us in the Monday Morning Matters, they are already starting to train people...nm
.
It matters more on the company than the method. Go with a company that does a lot of sm
radiology or it won't matter because you won't have a big check no matter what. Ask them how many radiology accounts they have, if they are overflow or complete department, how long they have had them and do you get a back-up account.

There are very few out there that have good radiology accounts. Stick with the ones that do. I am with Keystrokes for that reason after going with 4 others that kept running out of work.

In his ad, he's asking for Word Perfect, not Word, if that matters. nm

Wasn't right for me at all. nm
s
it wasn't a can you help out, it was I need everyone
to work extra.
wasn't for me
pay was directly tied to quality and number of blanks you left.
Are your sure her name wasn't
I even talked with the owner over the discrepancies of my checks.  He gave me his word that the problem would be fixed --- it never was.  Your right, they should be sued, but who has the time and/or money to do such?  That's why they're still around.  One other thing -- I can't believe that a company like this is allowed to advertise on this website.  We have to follow rules as an MT when we chat.  Why shouldn't companies have the same stipulation.  With all the negativity with this company (and I can back it up with phone records, paystubs, etc), they should be banned from advertising here, or anywhere else!
No, she wasn't.

nm

Boy, it sure wasn't that way when I was there...sm

We were always behind, it seemed, and always asked to type more, more, more.  I'm not defending OSi, but this was in later part of 2006.  Wonder what has changed?  I can't believe, if this is the MK account, that they would send charts overseas.  They were so !#$# picky (MK) that I got put on probation for some really, really tiny errors.  Took me for a whirl and hurt my feelings, big time.

I had to quit just from mere principle.  Harsh, very harsh!  I can't imagine, from the quality I understand comes from India, that they would get away with making any errors whatsoever.  Neither here nor there now, I'm just amazed at how fast things changed.

thanks - I wasn't using the right box
sounds like mixed reviews. Guess you never know til you try it yourself.
It wasn't MTs that were let go, it was QA, as that

is now going to India.  I wonder how many accounts that CBAY will have this time next year.

A company that I used to work for offshored work to India.  First it was just overflow because they couldn't stay in TAT, but then company saw how much they could save and sent more work to India.  The problem is they weren't QAing the work and was of such poor quality that the lost the account, which ultimately cost them their business.

It wasn't all THAT bad for me

I will admit when I first started with Amphion, I HATED it! However, I was there for 4 months and only left because I was offered better pay somewhere else, also I was really running out of work bad on my primary account, I assume from overhiring.

It is true about the mandatory OT, but I liked the money, so I did do some.  When I didn't do the OT, I was not reprimanded.  I attempted to quite because of the QA person on my accounts was really condescending and I just couldn't take it anymore.  I was talked into staying by the supervisor I had and I was even offered (later) a QA position there, but didn't take it.  My supervisor there was fantastic and wonderful.  I know they have other supervisors, but I couldn't tell you how they are/were.

I fell upon hardtimes close to Christmas and was having to move back to my mother's to take care of her house, my husband lost his job, and after explaining my situation to my supervisor, they sent me a 300.00 dollar check to help me with getting the lights turned on at my mom's house.  I was informed I did not have to pay that back, but under the condition that I help someone else in need.  I did feel appreciated at Amphion, but as I stated, I needed higher pay and I needed affordable insurance.  With my account running so low with work, I just couldn't do those things, and it really made me sad that I had to leave.

Yes, they are very picky about quality and really some of it was so minute that it was ridiculous.  However, if something ever happened with the company I am at now, I would go back.  Under the condition I was with the same supervisor.

Anyway, I wish you the very best of luck with finding the company of your dreams.  I am now with Axolotl and like it very, very much.  Of course, there are a few bumps just about anywhere you go, but I enjoy my job.

Good luck and take care

Wasn't here for that
so I couldn't say. I generally only pop in to research a company I may be considering because I know this is where to go to hear all the actual negatives and then some about a company which is why I felt compelled to say that my experience has not been the same as the other people. But whatever. I'll just take my positivity elsewhere since it apparently is unacceptable on this board. Oh, and I didn't take Carlotta's email that way. Then again, I'm not the one on here complaining.
No that wasn't me

MT Chat?  How do I find that?  Thanks

Are you saying your pay wasn't cut?
.
Yes, it wasn't... Not yet, anyway.
So am I waiting for the other shoe to drop? That's why I said I'm feeling MORE paranoid, not less.

Thanks! At least I know I wasn't seeing
things (or not seeing them as the case may be). :)
Hey, that wasn't me!
Someone else is using the name fed up but I am not that person.
I wasn't
arguing!? I was just stating my opinion... or is that not allowed anymore?

Per Moderator - ALL OPINIONS ARE WELCOME ON THIS BOARD!
I wasn't happy, but to each his own. nm

eTransPlus-- I wasn't going to say anything else but.....

the other poster hit the nail on the head about the insulting gifts sent for transcription week, and don't get me wrong, I don't expect anything as far as "gifts" from my employer, because they are not obligated to it, but give me a break,  "I'm still trying to figure out what my gift is, either a mini mouse pad, the size of a coaster, or is it a coaster."  They really showed me how much they thought of me when I received that gift.

This post wasn't from CW either. This was from me.

Just as you have never understood why people would come here and talk about their problems with Transcend, I simply cannot understand why the posts bother you SO much.  You like working there, we get it. Others don't.  Why is your voice any more important than ours?  How fair is it that you think you can stop every single post where people have had problems just because YOU don't want to hear them?  Obviously from the outworking of events yesterday, what I said on the Forum was true.  You guys wanted details all along, so you got them.  None of it was refuted by the company, instead it simply "vanished." When I had said that my emails were burning up with people writing me with words of support and thanks, you should have seen it AFTER they removed the post.  There were just as many people appalled by that as there were the content of my post.  You may think I'm in the minority, but you would be wrong. As wrong as you were about CW all along.

It wasn't sarcasm
It was sympathy, but I then again, I guess shouldn't have depended on you to know the difference.
Wasn't happy with them at all . sm
Check the archives.  They're famous for giving you a setup or hire date and then never bothering to get in touch with you again.  It was almost 2 months from being offered the position to actually working.  Maybe that's changed with new HR.  I can't say.  I was given many promises that were never kept.  I know I worked on two accounts that were both horrible.  Slow, boggy platforms.  Very long CTs and MRIs.  If you do one or two specials a day you're lucky.  The worst for me was the hand written log you have to keep ... all day long, with about six rows of information on every patient.  Very time consuming.  Not for me.
Your post wasn't that bad, but . . .
From what I've seen on here, if the moderator gives anyone an inch, someone else is HIGHLY likely to take 10,000 miles. Some people don't need much encouragement to go to the extremes with it, as in the 2 really foul-mouthed posts that got deleted yesterday. Maybe zero-tolerance is the only way they feel they can handle that. IMHO
Thanks! It wasn't deductible at all when I was an IC. sm
But I will never work as an IC again and I could not get an independent policy anyway, having had cancer and ongoing therapy.  A lot of MTs are in this position with either age, a serious disease, such as hypertension, diabetes, etc.  It just isn't that easy to get self-insured anymore.  That's why I don't understand companies who don't offer benefits.  The last figures I saw, benefits were worth about 1.5 cents a line.  Something to figure in when considering great wages.  Thanks for the information.
Sten-Tel wasn't the only one
A company called DW Transcription, hired me for QA and asked me to fill out forms, sign contract, etc. They asked me to start on a particular day and I waited and NOTHING. And so a few days later I called.... I get the feeling the person who hired me disappeared. Someone else contacted me by email and said I could start THAT day and I was just very uneasy about the whole thing. How could they just blow me off? I really wonder about this business.
