That's the big secret? I saw some of that Oprah and got bored.

In Reply to: I saw that on Oprah...so simple yet powerful!... - The Secret

I have always been grateful for what I have, and no better things are coming my way, I can assure you. Maybe it's some sort of brainwash...with hidden subliminal messages. LOL

Anybody wath The Secret on Oprah.

Any experiences with this.  I am having a great time.

Thank you bored MT.....
You make me feel better. But to the poster below, I do not feel I need to apologize for saying the lady is a good mother and an enabler. I meant that she is a good mother for helping out in taking care of her own. Enabling happens in all economic classes -- I have a few friends who are financially well off who still support their 20-somethings with new cars, rent/utility money, etc., but they love their children dearly and want them to have what they didn't.

In any case...yes...I just want to make peace because I don't want to stop coming to the boards. I shouldn't let my feelings get hurt so easily but I do...

Thanks again to you Bored MT and the NC MT, who came to my defense earlier.
you must be bored to death

as well as the ones that answered this!

Old folks get bored. sm

My 86-yo dad is the same way.  Sticking his nose into my business.  He also constantly rags on me about my son not mowing the grass, etc.  I have explained to him that I LIKE to mow the grass and to please drop it and he just keeps on and on.  One day he walked in my office and shook his finger at me and said, "You just wait, you just wait, y'all are drinking way too much pop."  This because I buy it when it's on sale and it lasts a very long, long time.  And, by the way, neither my son nor I are overweight.  Older people just can't (anyways he can't) realize I am 53 years old and have lived on my own without his valuable input for a long time.  He just doesn't have anything else to do.

The thing that really bugs me is when he comes over and just plops down in here when I am working and I tell him he can't be in here when I'm working and he gives me all kinds of excuses ("I can't see read what you're typing") and I have to just keep the screen minimized until he goes.  He just doesn't get it.  The other day I told him to go over and check on my cousin's new fence, and that got his train of thought going in a different direction and off he went.  He called me one day and told me not to commit to the big diocesan pledge thing that's going on, that I am to tell them I am a single parent just barely scraping by, etc., etc., and I wanted to tell him I am not quite that destitute yet, but I just agreed.

Oh, and I have an extremely screwed-up sister, too, who Dad thinks can do no wrong and her son is the greatest, etc., etc.  Oh, the stories I could tell about her!  Well, it was me who gave him a place to live after Katrina and it was me who gave him my couch for his new house because he didn't have one (another delusional idea, he thinks he is broke), not her, so I just keep quiet and keep civil and remind myself he's old.   When it gets to be too much I tell his sisters, who tell him to back off then he does for a while.  All part of life.

I know this is much to simple, but he sounds bored (sm)
I agree with testing for autism, etc.

But bored children, no matter the age, upbringing, or intelligence will act out and 'find' something to do if they're bored.

My daughter was the 'perfect baby' until she turned about 18 months. She started misbehaving, not as bad as yours, but nothing like previously. None of the usual things really occupied her physically or mentally. So I started shopping for day care. Happy girl, believe it or not. The first day I picked her up around 3 p.m. and she told me I came too soon...

She needed the social stimulation, even at that young age. BTW, she is 21 now and still the same. Very outgoing and social, but smart and still a sponge for knowledge. She's in college and when she had winter, spring, and summer breaks, she is so relieved... for about 1 or 2 days. Then she starts counting the day until school starts again.

Anyyow, I digress, but sometimes you just have to listen to your kids and do what's best for them even if it tears you up inside.

In any case, you need some help. You are carrying way too much, but I admire you for your persistence in wanting to do what's best for your kids. Wish you the best :-)
did you ever wonder if you could literally be bored to death? nm

The Secret
I've heard a lot about "The Secret" and Oprah's show today is all about it if anyone's interested.  It's about the laws of attraction and how to attract more abundance and positives into your life.  This sounds interesting.
the secret
I was offered The Secret by special price from another site that I use daily and purchased the dvd. It is very well done and very informative. Please see it.
The Secret DVD
Is the DVD available in stores?
THE SECRET
Have you seen the movie The Secret? If you haven't it is a very good movie to watch. Not only for marriage, but for life. Good luck.
THE SECRET = YOU
It is not just being grateful for what you have; it is your outlook on life. The power of positive thinking. If you think you can't do something or you aren't happy etc. you have already set your limitations. You really have to watch the movie to understand what they are teaching you. Something so simple, yet many people lose sight of it.

You typed "I have always been grateful for what I have, and no better things are coming my way, I can assure you." You have spoken that into existence and nothing better will come your way. (Not trying to be rude, just making a point).

I am grateful for my husband, my kids being healthy and my job as an MT working for a wonderful company, and I look forward to many more happy years.

Sorry, what is the secret to
start with? Don’t know this.
Can you keep a secret like this?
Attorneys kept secret for 26 years that their client committed a murder. An innocent man was charged/tried/convicted for the murder.

My secret is staying out of the sun

and wearing a hat or slathering on a crapload of sunscreen!  I got totally fried when I worked for a nursery (plants) back in the early 1990's and my ears burnt so bad they they actually got a tad deformed around the edges!  I love outdoors time but I'll be darned if the sun is gonna be the cause of my demise!

Besides, I'm a superfreak when it comes to medical stuff.  I love researching all sorts of medical crap and that nasty IUD just stuck in my head from my days in Anatomy and Physiology 101.

I also have a fetish for bugs too and someday, before I die, I'd love to play entomologist or something queer like that.

secret shopper
I do this in my spare time, and I am with Shop-N-Chek. I have not had any problems with them. If I want to do a shop, I do one. If I don't, I don't. You do an initial survey and they match you up with potential shops in your area. You can even do them on vacation if you have the zip code for where you are going. The website is shopnchek.com.
secret shopping
Do you make pretty good money doing this?  Is it worth taking the time or do you just do it for fun?  I went to the website you listed and am seriously considering joining...more info would be very much appreciated...
Shshshsh! That's my secret.

Principal Secret
anyone tried this skin care product?  How'd you like it?  Thinking about ordering, but not sure.  Thanks for feedback...
Principal Secret
I have been using Principal Secret products for over 7 years. I quit the membership though because I simply wasn't using it enough to justify needing a supply shipped to me when they felt it was time, but rather just purchase it when I need it. Like the other poster stated, it is still cheaper than high-end cosmetics at high-end department stores. Principal Secret has a "bottom of the jar" guarantee also, so you can order straight from them, try the product, use it "all" and return it for a full refund if you do not like the product. Having sensative skin and not being able to use any form of foundation, I love their tinted moisturizer (very much lighter in color than chart), but I only use it in the wintertime due to being outside and getting tanned in the summer. I, however, also use all their skin cleanser products and the serum, as stated above, is absolutely wonderful. I do not like the eye cream though, it seems to irritate my skin. After using the tinted moisturizer in the winter, I follow it with the tinted loose powder by Mary Kay Products for a matted finish. Mary Kay loose powder does not irritate my skin nor does it clog my pores.
Do You Have a Secret Ingredient?

Do you have a recipe that you add or substitute an ingredient to make it special?

When I make pecan pies I sub half the amount of the corn syrup with Kahlua. I'm going to switch it up this year and sub it with Godiva liqueur for a chocolate flavor. I also add a couple of tablespoons of brandy to my pumpkin pies.

Secret ingredient sm

My family does not eat meat stuffing, so I use Pepperidge Farm preseasoned bread stuffing but instead of water per directions. I use either orange juice, cranberry juice, or both. I used to use chicken broth but after dieting, I found I could taste the grease. I also throw in a tiny bit of sliced apple, cranberry and raisin, not overpowering, just a hint, then of course, I chop up an onion and some celery. We have nut allergies, otherwise I would add some walnuts. People said they would kill for my stuffing. I mix it up and cook it in a separate casserole dish in the oven, cover with foil for about 15 min., then lift the foil and let brown a little, and butter, oh yes, plenty of butter, it doesn't taste greasy. My one vice is butter, usually holidays.

keeping a secret
taking addiction too seriously is a mistake. Keeping it a dirty little secret is a mistake. Hiding "Pa" in the basement because he is an embarrassment is a mistake. There is NOTHING shameful about being addicted to a substance. I hardly think there is one person on this board who does not know someone on antidepressants or takes them and that is considered healthy? But medicating depression with vodka is shameful?

The best disinfectant is light.
The secret: JESUS. It's so odd that everything they said on that show
as a Christian, was Christianity and they didn't even know it. The only huge difference is that they believe this huge "secret" is about yourself when we believe it's about Jesus. Instead of looking inward to do all of those things, we look outward and ask God to do those things for us and He never fails to do them. It's really no secret.
I'm a secret fan, too, but I got pulled away from the end. I have a feeling what's
s
You're right., some things should not be kept secret.
Tell your daughter that you have to inform the other parent, then do it. It's not fair to the other parent to keep this secret. And, don't try to be a friend to your child, just be a parent, which doesn't always mean doing what they want.
Principal Secret/Reclaim

Hello ladies.  Does anyone use this product by Victoria Principal?   Any comments will be appreciated.  Thank you.

The recipe is a secret - sort of!
It's funny. I can make the cole slaw, but there's not really a recipe. And the sour cream, mayo thing was not her usual. She was probably trying to stretch out the mayo. That's my cousin's house, and his mom never had enough mayo on hand! LOL The same with the wine vinegar. Grandmom made sort of a face over it. She used plain white vinegar at her house. The cabbage was always sliced paper thin, by hand. Then onion was grated on one of those plane graters, so that the onion turned pretty much into juice. Then added a splash of vinegar, salt and pepper and stirred it up. Then, in a coffee mug, she sprinkled a bit of sugar on the bottom of the cup, filled it about halfway with mayo, and then thinned that with whole milk or cream until it was the consistency of salad dressing. Then mixed it all together. And not wanting to waste a drop, she always took some of the cabbage, put it into the mug and tried to clean out every drop of the dressing. One coffee mug of this concoction was enough for half a head of cabbage. Her cole slaw leaned more to the sour side with vinegar. It wasn't a sweet cole slaw, at all. She added grated carrots on special occasions, like T-giving, which is when the video was taken.

She was barely 5-feet tall, and shrunk to well under that as she got older. My mother was her firstborn child, and weighed nearly 10 pounds and breech, born at home. Amazing. My Grandmom was one strong lady!
My secret to happiness what something my grandma
told me.

My grandparents were opposites. I asked her on their 50th wedding anniversary how they had been able to stay together so long. She told me this:

You can sacrifice things in your life for the person you love and vice versa. But, if the person loves you and is worth loving, they will not require it of you.
Oh, please...anyone who keeps secrets, secret passwords...
email accounts, etc, shouldn't be trusted. It's not snooping for crying out loud. Any one who doesn't share with their spouse must be ashamed of something or have something to hide. Get rid of him already and move on to a HEALTHY relationship!
No fan of either her or Oprah but having said that
I was so surprised when Rachael took on that type of show. She has several shows on Food NW and Oprah probably would have liked to have found her (as in Dr. Phil) but not so, too big a person in her own right before. Books, several shows on Food, well known before Oprah. Oprah played a point in putting her on that show, probably produces the newer show. I understand you are not really into Rachael but she was a talent and had already made it big longgggggggg before Oprah.
Oprah? What would anything she would say
?
No, no Oprah
Never said there was "nothing" either. It's just not what people think it is. Fairy tales are for children and heII was invented by poets, Dante to be specific.

BOO!!
Try Oprah.com
I missed what your issues are, but Oprah has a lot of great resources and seminar-type things on her site.

I know what you are saying. When it comes down to it, we are all alone. Even those who really care can only do so much.

I have been having a rough time pretty much for a couple of years. Sometimes you wonder what it's all about. Don't give up though, you just never know when something might change for the good!
