Drastic under bidding for products. Single handedly took out Rubbermaid

Posted By: From what I recall on 2006-01-04
In Reply to: Do tell more? - camry

after demanding a price reduction that Rubbermaid could not meet and pay for costs. This was after Wal-Mart basically caused Rubbermaid to increase production to meet demands to the point Rubbermaid had grown significantly, all based on its Wal-Mart sales.

There is SO MUCH MORE!!!

When a U.S. based manufacturing company (RCA?) took to court a manufacturer based in China (television) for dumping on the U.S. market a product that was priced so low that it was causing the company to lose millions. They won but when they looked at the court documentation for this China based manufacturer, Wal-Mart was listed as a one of the companies siding with China manufacturer.

In one generation, this type of business could place the U.S. in a precarious situation in many respects. Also, by doing this, in one generation, a new customer base will be created in other countries and these people will be just like the Americans, wanting better for their children.

Last year, I bought the somewhat clear 3 drawers in one on wheels, and bought 3 of those (9 drawers), so now I'm getting more organized than ever!!

Great Minds Think Alike (GMTA) -

Well, maybe not that drastic, but SM
You do have a LOT of posts here for someone who's new to working at home. I would very strongly suggest limiting yourself to 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon for "fun" and that's it. Otherwise, you're going to be wondering how come your line count has gone down so much. :)
To be honest, you need something a bit more drastic than WW
WW is a good program for those who need to lose 50 pounds, but at the weight you are now, you are risking your health. I should know, I weighed more than you before I started Medifast and my health was definitely headed for the pine box (well, not that bad, but bad enough).

With Medifast you will lose an average of 5 pounds a week if you work the program. You will also learn healthy eating and portion control. It is a low calorie diet, but is perfectly balanced including all vitamins and minerals you need daily. It is also soy based so no problem with lactose intolerance.

You eat 5 of their meals which you choose from a variety of soups, oatmeal, bars, shakes, fruit drinks, hot drinks, chili, etc. You also eat a meal you prepare of a protein and vegetables called a lean and green.

This diet is so easy to follow as you don't even have to think about points or core foods or spending too much time figuring out menu plans and shopping and then cooking everything.

Please check out the message boards at Medifast1.com or Makemethinner.com. You'll find people there who have tried every diet ever written about with no success, but have been able to stick with Medifast and really reach their goals, most for the first time ever.

There is one lady named Pat on the Medifast board who is a true inspiration to all of us. She has lost over 163 pounds with Medifast and still working her way to goal. She has never cheated once on the plan in all the months she has been on program. She was even able to come off her oxygen a month or so ago.

There is no program to compare with Medifast. It works. I have lost over 40 pounds in 8 weeks with a huge drop in my blood pressure, blood sugar, etc.

This is the only diet plan that I have been able to stick with. It may just be the perfect plan for you, too.

To anyone reading this post who has been thinking of gastric bypass, do try Medifast first. You'll wonder why you ever thought a bypass was a good idea. That's a fact.
It is probably someone in India who is bidding $10
And unfortunately this brings our rates down.
Its not that I'm worried about bidding, but if the seller is ugly in
response to neutral or negative feedback I don't wan to deal with them, I don't care if they have a 99% rating.  Sure there may be hundreds of positives, but it is their response that I'm looking for to see if I want to deal with this person/company.
Doesn't every word you said just translate into you're worried about bidding? Don't underst
phrasing in that regard.  I don't look at worrying about bidding as a bad thing, either.  Its the only way to buy on E-Bay - cautiously.  One should always worry about bidding, as you have no clue who you're buying from!  Most sellers will always respond angrily to a negative - only ones who don't answer at all are the guilty ones! But if you're unjustly accused of this or that, and then the buyer has the audacity to leave a contrived negative, that's when the seller responds and feathers fly!  Negative reading is a great experience - you can really learn a lot about all parties, right? I don't deal with the ones who leave cursing, I'm gonna kill you negatives! Though, sadly most of them have been deleted by now, so we don't get to see the "true colors"...Censorship sometimes hurts...
Bidding on new account - states that they will provide specialized forms such as letterhead, *sm*
progress notes, operative forms or other such printed documents.  The accounts that I have previously worked on did not have "printed" forms for progress notes or ops.  What are they talking about here?  If there is such a thing as a preprinted form, then how do you do the account long distance - I am not near them?  Could the forms be scanned or made up in a template which could save them money by not having to buy them?  Years ago I worked as a legal secretary and we had forms that we made up and filled in on our computer rather than with a typewriter.
I have to say that I buy a lot of products from TVPS and have never had a

problem.  Before calling the BBB and credit card company, why not try again to contact the company?  People are always so quick to jump and complain to the BBB, when situations can be resolved.  I would suggest calling and asking to speak to Tom Wilkes directly.  His extension is 101.

BTW, I do not work for TVPS, I own an MTSO and only purchase from them.

Hair products...
I remember hearing a rumor that Prell or Pert would turn your hair green. I'm a brunette, never happened. Also, what ever happened to "creme/cream rinse"? That's what it was called in the 80's. In my Aqua Net days, I could make my bangs stand up about 2 inches, my best girlfriend's bangs were 4 inches high! Wow! I love this. Let's keep going.
Weird MT products
I am sure that with equality of hiring acts, ergonomics, handicap working issues, everything that can be thought of is out in cyberspace somewhere.  I think it is just a matter of surfing the web til you find these products.  I have seen one-handed keyboards that look similar to a joy sticks, as well as other configurations.
natural products helped me - sm
I feel for you. Different story, (though same in that tubes tied, PMS-crazy 10 out of 30 day each month, teens) but maybe this might help you. I could not opt for hormone tx (diabetic)after hysterectomy (for other changes in cycle; light, then very heavy, then not there) and opted for surgery when fibroids were found.)Immediate surgical menopause resulted in symptoms even though before this my FSH and estradiol levels came back I was not peri.

Researched websites and found natural progesterone cream (bought at local health store)helped me a lot, but wound up on Lexapro (calming) too. Taken together, this was the optimum fix for me.
ALLERGIES AND MARYKAY PRODUCTS.

I am trying to find out why my eye keep watering (only on one side).   Has anyone been allergic to Mary Kay.  I have been using it for 20 years but for the last 5 months my eye won't stop watering.  Doctor said it must be allergy to something.  I do not wear mascara or eye shadow.

check out entirelypets.com. On the products I use
they are significantly cheaper than petrx.  If your order is a certain amount ($100 I think and mine always are) you get free shipping.  They also send me e-coupons every month $3.00 off $45/order, $5 off $100 something+ order, etc.  They also have sales.  Their selection of products is excellent.  You may have to type in a product in the search box as you may not find what you are looking for in their menu, but they have had every med my dog/cats are one and they are multiple.  They also have things like sprays and shampoos that my vet doesn't carry, that I have found to work better than what my vet carries.  They also have homeopathic products.  I have ordered 3 times without problem, ships the next day via priority mail.   I have yet to order a product that I need a prescription for.  One prescription med my dog is on is not available from my vet and I have to get at the local pharmacy and they are about 25 cents higher at entirelypets than the drug store.  They also sell them by the pill so you have to be careful and read the fine print.  The pills are $6.00 and I thought the first time it was $6.00/bottle that I paid $180 for at the pharmacy - LOL.
facial hair products-sm
I am post menopausal and deal with upper lip facial hair.  I have tried several things such as creams and tweezing (ouch) and shaving.  I'm not happy with any of them.  What's a woman to do?  I can't just leave it.  It's too dark and too much.  I can't afford expensive treatments.  Isn't there a decent product out there for this problem?

waxing with honey bee wax. u can buy it at Sally's Beauty Supply. it's $10 a jar that will last u months plus the strips which are $10 and the wooden sticks. u just feel a quick tug. the redness goes away within an hour, maybe less. it'll last u a week. it's the treatment i like the best from creams, bleaching, and tweezing.
Stedman's make their products so you have
to have the CD to install and the newer programs only allow 2 installs.  You can move other programs by copying to CD or a flash drive.   I've done this with 3 computers, but it doesn't work with Stedman's.
Handmade-new law for products for children

If anyone is thinking of making handmade items for children as a sideline you should read this new Consumer Protection Agcy law.  Good idea, keeping our children safe from lead but not a well thought out law and will put small businesses out of business.

I got a face full of acne from their products....
along time ago. I can no longer use Marykay facial products. I also get cold sores from "all" lipsticks. I only know of one other person like this and she is a cousin of mine.
skin care products and allergies

I used another product that is sold on QVC by a lady doctor in September.  Overnight I developed a horrible burn on my face that nearly closed both eyes.  My skin was so red under my eyes that I looked like I had two black eyes.  I believe it was a chemical burn caused by some ingredient in that product.  It is now December 12, and I still suffer from a burning sensation and very red cheeks and sensitive eyes.  I have not used this product since that first episode, but I have used other products from other companies, with the same result.  I believe most of the upscale cosmetic and skin care products must contain the same ingredient that is too harsh for sensitive skin (obviously) and that may cause an allergic reaction.

I used bad judgment in not seeing a doctor with the first episode, thinking it would just go away.  Well it does go away and cycles and recycles again and again, with the same results.   I am not going through another cycle, and it is at the stage of just returning.  It will get increasingly worse over the next two or three days and then start to subside, leaving my skin feeling like leather, peeling slightly under my eyes.  I have bags under my eyes that I never had before.

I guess sooner or later I'll just get sick of all this and finally get a referral to a dermatologist before I suffer permanent, irreversible damage, if that has not already occurred.

I believe perhaps the ingredient is either salicylic, glycolic, or  lactic acid, which seems to be the hot ingredient in skin care these days.  I've used retinol products in the past without a problem, but I guess we can all develop allergies to anything.  I've also used glycolic acid cleansers in the past without a problem.  Again, allergies can certainly crop up in anything.

Incidentally, I have a friend who used Avon night cream recently who woke up with a face full of pimples, too!

wow, hard to believe that Mary Kay products would cause allergies - sm
when they test on animals!!!! They have voiced to the public that they WILL NOT stop testing on animals.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, I am being sarcastic about my subject line. The point I'm trying to make is that Mary Kay tests ALL OF THEIR products NEW AND OLD on animals. Part of their reason was to "prevent allergies in humans" .... rrrrriiiiggghhttt

Tylenol words best for me. Glade products should be banned, the worst.
Tylenol words the best for me, have to take LOTS to ward off headaches that become 17 on a 1-10 scale.

Glade Products are the worst for me. They are to terrible and ought to be outlawed. I cannot be around them AT ALL and have to leave if they are used anywhere, in churches, homes, etc. Apparently some people are not at all sensitive to them, but they ought to know that other people are very horrendously affected. It is all chemical, either you are sensitive or you aren't, and the people who are not just simply are not. But the people who are suffer real pain and so I think no one should use them. Why would you want to expose the people who are sensitive? Just my opinion.
Anyone ever tried Dual Action Cleanse or any other colon cleansing products? sm
The infomercial was not pretty, and this guy focused way too much on BMs and such, but said that John Wayne died with 42 pounds of undigested material in his colon ... yuck!  Supposedly, you use this product and feel tons of energy and all that ... wondered if it was just more hype or maybe someone had actually tried it.  ?

they told me after three installs, even if I buy a new computer, I have to buy the program all over again, at $100 a pop. Has anyone else ever been told this? Sounds like a rip off to me.

I am a single mom

of 2 beautiful girls, 10 and 8.  I support myself.  I do not make my ex pay child support and he sees his children whenever he wants.  It is possible to be a single mother in this world and not be bitter and angry.  I have it better than most divorced single parents, but I have worked hard to get it this way.  I guess my point is that whatever the situation, it can be changed to achieve the desired outcome.  Everything takes time, love, and a lot of hard work, and being 30 years old and having gotten where I am today, I am quite proud to be a single mom.

Just a PS - and I'm single
no kids, never married. You all should start with the AAMT, which from what I can see, is nothing but a huge joke.
single mom
I raised 2 kids, boy and girl on my own.  Something you might want to think about is sharing babysitting services.  If you only type in the evening, possibly you would keep someones children during the day (save them money) and then they could keep your children in the evenings so you could work (or vice versa).  There are ways around the childcare issue.  You just have to use your imagination.  If you are part of a church and your church has a church bulletin board, advertise through your church for "adoptive grandparents", an older woman or couple that need the interaction and would be willing to help you out and in turn you could possible cook dinner them them during the week or even clean their house, etc.  The barter system is a great tool that people forget about.
Not OP, but every single job I have had
I needed to be trained for multiple reasons. Are you an MT? I doubt it because all MTs know you need training for the company's software, acct specs, how they do things in general. It does not matter how much exp a person has, you will always need to be trained on a new job regardless.

i raised by daughter all by meself (she is now 22)doing medical transcription. even with an infant it works for you really well. you child will adapt and entertain themself, but you can take breaks all the time and spend time with them. i thought it was the perfect situation, but i would suggest working during the day.

unfortunately, i went for a second marriage and that didn't work either and i was separated when she was 10 months so i'm doing all over again, but you can make this work really well for you.

i now have my own business and call all the shots working for eight doctors and I get to spend so much time with my daughter.

i love it.

single mom MT
Let me say first I have been in your shoes. I am still a single mom and still an MT. IT's been a struggle. When I divorced my boys were 9 months and 5 years. I made the same decision as you are to saty at home and work. I did eventually get daycare for my younger child when my older son started 1st grade and this helped to have 6 hours uninterrupted. The daycare costs can be covered by assitance. I know you don't want to go on government support - but sometimes we have to bite the bullet. They will help you with medical insurance and food etc. It doesn't have to be forever -- just while you are learning the ropes at work as an MT and gaining speed. Theh childcare I got was in my own neighborhood - a license daycare provider. I didn't want to use a center as I like the smaller home environment. I used to run a family daycare myself when I was married. I asked for a listing from Welfare office of licensed providers and there were 3 or 4 in my smaller city -- one only 5 blocks away. My older son eventually went there after shool - she picked him up.. so I could work a full 8 hour shift. We did this until my younger son was ready to go to school. Now I just work while they are in school. They are 15 and 10. I also work in the evening after dinner if needed after homework and they are older and know it's Mom's work time. It can be done. It's a challenge still for me because my 10 yo has a mild form of autism and on days that there is no school etc it can be a challenge. Then, I try to get a grandparent or Dad to take him for a few hours. I work as an IC now to have flexible hours....
My take on single moms

This is not meant to start any arguing between anyone.  This is just my outlook.  I was raised by a single mom.  Through no choice of her own, my father decided to end their marriage to be with another woman.  I was 5 when we were kicked out of the only home we ever knew with nowhere to go.  We had to live with some friends of hers for 3 months while she saved up money to get us a place to live.  She was a nurse and worked her butt off 7 nights a week, working 60 to  70 hours a week to put food in my mouth and clothes on my back.  She went without, didnt ever have nice clothes, didnt have a social life, was the sole supporter and had to be a mom and a dad to me.  She was everything to me and what she sacrificed for me she did willingly and lovingly.  She gave up everything for herself so that I could have a bright future.

I saw what my mom went through as a single mom.  There was no support there when the pipes broke, the car wouldnt start and she couldnt get to work, if her child was ill, if she were ill.  There was no second income, nobody to lean on.

Through all her struggles raising me, she never was bitter and never complained about being a single mom.  But I feel that any single mother out there trying to raise children to be all they can, at the same time solely supporting the family should be regarded with a little respect.  Look how hard it is in this day to make it even as a married couple with kids. It is hard.

If you havent walked down that road, you will never imagine how hard it is.  I think some compassion is due to that lady and her children.  Maybe not just because she is a single mom, but because at some point in our own walk, we may need some compassion sometime ourselves.

Very good and clear description of what will happen at this company.

I believe they are taking the bottom of the barrel of hospitals out there and

not putting any restrictions or caveats on the work - instead making the MT

"eat" the loss and MQ is playing the odds.

But if all you get is bad dictators - you will not survive.  Probably the reason the

hospital had to outsource IN THE FIRST PLACE - is because of the doctors.

What I've never understood is WHY CAN'T THE HOSPITAL DEMAND

APPROPRIATE AND DISTINCT DICTATION.......IT IS TO THEIR LEGAL AND

MONETARY BENEFIT.

I mean they require appropriate credentials, and timely dictation of reports - just because we are mostly women "typing" is that the reason no consideration has been given to what has been thrown at "transcription"?  I have wondered.  I know you say "transcription" in a medical staff meeting and the eyes of administrators go DARK and they nearly throw up in your face.  The hospital just WANTS IT DONE AND DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING MORE ABOUT HOW IT GOT DONE.

Well, it would be simple if they also spot checked physician's dictation

as part of Quality Assurance and if they were not doing it right - in English - with

English structure sentences - they were kicked off staff just as when they don't

do their charts timely.

Yes, I'm a single person - sm

Two people could not fit in this cottage it is so small.  The $1,100 mortgage alone I could not do without working for 2-3 companies consistently.  And pay a car payment or take a trip on top of that?  Or pay for medical insurance?  Forget it, it's not in the budget.  If I have a slow week my finances are in ruin.

Thank you everyone for your replies!

Yes, being single over age 30 is sinful...

according to David, so I'm WAY out there dangling on the cliff! The odd thing is - he just got divorced from someone 20 years older than him - isn't divorce a sin? Somehow he has neglected to mention THAT little detail about HIS life. Hmm...perhaps I shall use THAT against him, lol. Well, as my Mom would say - I'm going for the grandchildren!

PS:  Can y'all go with me and my other sisters?

Any single moms out there?

Hi all.  I'm hoping there are a few single moms out there who can give me some advice.  I have two children, ages 15 and 11.

Background:  I divorced my husband in June.  Everything was going well financially until I lost my Independent Contractor position unexpectedly in October.  I could not find any work for a month and had no savings.

Now, I come to find out my ex will be dropping all medical coverage this spring.  He will be self-employed at that time and have no access to insurance.

AS OF THIS SPRING, my financial status looks bleak.  I have no savings, no retirement, no medical insurance and no life insurance.  I'm totally lost here.

I have a few options:  I could stay self-employed and buy all of my insurance, etc.  I could work when I wanted and be home with my kids, attend their school functions, and so on.

I could get a full-time MT job in an office with full benefits, etc.  However, my kids will be alone on vacations and in the summer.  They may need to forego some school functions and may need to stay at home alone when they are sick.

I've been self-employed now for almost 8 years and the kids and I are very used to it.  I hate to give it up, but, I do need to do what I have to.

Any advice?

I have my DH claim 0 and single, but we also have
extra $$ taken out of his check.   We have been hit with a penalty of under $60.00 the past 2 years for not having enough taken out for state though.   Hopefully this year we have taken out enough.
