I am not sure. I am chicken. I live in an apartment complex
I do walk around my house, but there is an elderly woman who lives below me and I get worried that she hears my foot steps pacing. I have a fan blowing on me, and keeping it cold to keep me awake. Maybe a cold glass of water and some sit ups. Problem with sit ups is I bet if I lie on the floor, I won't sit up, I'll fall asleep!!! Thanks for the idea, though. I wish I were not a chicken to go outside.
I hate wireless internet. I live in an apartment and
trying to get it to stay connected it almost impossible.
Look, if you knew me you wouldn't have said those things. I live in Alabama! We hate sm
them-thar' fags. Honestly, I am probably the MOST unprejudiced (if that's a word) person in my entire family! I'm constantly rolling my eyes at THEM because they use inappropriate names to refer to people and I don't like it.

I am a conservative who doesn't believe in same-sex marriages! I am totally against it.

What I am saying is this: This lady is NOT making this stuff up. It happens. We may not like it, but it happens. and here's the real kicker: We need to love these so called "degenerates." We really do. Like the Beatle's song goes: All you need is love...

Love can make them turn around. Really!
Aww, a photo studio!!! What would it take for you to do that
Seriously, what would it take?!

If the mod didn't agree then you probably wouldn't be
My two cents would be to grow up and act like an adult. Stop with all the thank you posts, it's getting old now. You got your attention and your way since the mods seem to think it is ok to allow foul language. As you can see, there are posters who disagree with you and the mods. I think it's a shame that our culture has dumbed down to the point of thinking that the public posting of foul language is acceptable.
Wouldn't you agree that these ever-changing
screwing us? I'm in the same boat. I made about $25/hour working in-house at a huge multispecialty clinic in the pacific northwest. Now that I'm working at home for a national, the platform changes happen about yearly. Each one seems to slow me down more and more. My work is still as high in quality, but the only way I can achieve the same quantity I used to at my in-house job would be if I worked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pay, at anything less than 13-15 cpl, is too low to live on. The benefits aren't worth the money they take out of my paycheck. Might as well go bare, for all that's worth. The new and 'improved' software never benefits US - those of us that actually transcribe the work. Instead, it makes HR's & supervisors' job easier by spying on us, makes payroll's job easier by automatically counting lines, and supposedly makes the dictators' jobs easier by being more 'dummy-proof' for them. But me? I got more work done on my old IBM Selectric than I do with all these fancy gizmos, gadgets, bells and whistles that the MTSO suits and CEO's just love to buy.
Sounds like a bunch of BULL to me. I agree, I wouldn't let the kids
stay with her again at ALL.  It's not okay for the kid to get arrested and the parents not be told IMMEDIATELY or at least first thing in the door when you're home.  THAT is total DISHONESTY and I don't see how hubby could feel any different.
I agree... it depends on where in the country you live....
I usually figure what they are paying per person for dinner and then give that as a gift times the number of people in my family who are attending.  I also think it depends on how well you know the person.   A gift should be a personal decision.  The bride and groom should have invited you b/c they want you there not b/c of the gift they are expecting from you.
I agree. I only live 15 minutes away from the Wal*Mart here in FL where they were duking it out

at the store.  I could see myself with my 6 y.o. and my elderly mother in the middle of that mayhem and people diving for laptops one on top of the other...no thanks!  Got everything last year via mail in time for Xmas and never set foot in a store.

Why didn't you go through the apartment with them?

We go through the apartment with the tenant that is leaving, if at all possible.  This leaves no margin for error.

We also state in our lease that all carpets MUST be professionally shampooed upon leaving.   Maybe that wasn't in your lease but it is kind of gross not to do this.  A vacuum doesn't pick up the 'real' crud.

It's a shame this happened to you but I'd be sure to be there when the inspectors go through, just in case something like this occurs.

Apartment questions

Hey, I'm back on the apartment scene, but this time with three little ones.  I was told when I moved in that there was a pregnant girl living alone upstairs from me.  Okay, fine.  Well, in fact, it's her, a 2 yo, and a man.  Manager and staff must not be aware of all of them and that seems dangerous to me as we were warned to tell of anyone who would be staying chronically.  I assumed in case of fire or other emergency.

Anyway, she is a stomper.  I realize that she is pregnant and/or may just be a heavy walker, but she is up at 6 am and doesn't go to bed until midnight.  She does not work.  I am trying my darndest to get my typing done while my kids are napping and in bed for the night.  The stomping has a tendency to be a distraction while I'm working.  It's also keeping my kids from relaxing.  No sleep = no work.  I think she takes the baby to daycare because he isn't there all day, just her and she moves around constantly from room to room.  I am doing a very good job of keeping our noise level way down for other tenants.  Oh and, Ugh, I haven't even gotten to the worst part.  My 4 yo daughter and I share a room and my son and other daughter also share a room.  My bedroom is directly below the neighbor's.  You guessed it, wild s-e-x anywhere from 11 pm to midnight when she retires.  Loud moaning and groaning with wall banging, etc.  It continues to wake us all.  Thankfully, my children haven't asked about it.  They just stir and go back to sleep.  She is very entitled to her private life, but it seems to be more of a performance to me.  She may not know I and other can hear her, but common sense would seem to dictate that if she can hear others, they can hear her.  What would you all do?  I have seen her face to face and she commented on my having 3 kids.  I don't want to tell on her to the manager here.  That's bad form, plus she could get nuts on me and I don't want that.  I figure we'll get used to the stomping.  Ugh, again, I'm going in circles.  Should I just get over it?  My church friends say I should bang on the ceiling during her nightly romps.  That's seems in bad taste also.  I just don't know.  Geez, this is my only beef right now.  That's huge for me.  Thanks.

Yep, I agree 100%. I live in such a rural area, though, that my neighbors, the natives, think I'm
NUTS cause I keep my dogs in the house, and actually still walk them on a leash in my yard.  We all have about 2 - 5 acres minimum each of woods in our neighborhood, and no real dog laws at all! Dogs run at large 24/7, which is no picnic for me with my dogs on leash, either!  And they ALL keep them outdoors, tied up with the chain and the smelly old dog house.  I think they just look at dogs strictly as deterents? Not sure really, come to think of it! Cause even if they were getting robbed, Fido couldn't get off the 6 foot chain! Oh well!  I used to be sad all the time for the plot of the dogs here, but I can't save them all! Only my guys!
Met him in the apartment complex I lived in.
We were just friends for about a year and a half. I was newly divorced and not ready to have a relationship, but we became great friends. Here we are 11 years later - happy, happy, happy!!!!
At my apartment complex, our post boxes are
in a large mail kiosk and I can sort my mail right there, open everything and throw away all trash before ever getting back in my car or walking back to my apartment. Anything unnecessary never makes it to (1) my purse (used to be a bad habit of mine), (2) my car (used to be another bad habit of mine), or (3) my apartment. It really is amazing how much paper is wasted on advertisements that I'm not even interested in, envelopes, etc.

It can be very stressful to have all that stuff staring at you on the desk, demanding more of your time.

A "home" can be an actual house or an apartment. So,
to answer your question, you CAN say YES you rent a home.
Sorry! missed the part about apartment and elderly woman below you
So I'm thinking the jumping jacks and/or the exercise video aren't the greatest tips.  How about an exercise bike?
It wouldn't load with my Office. Somehow it wouldn't "read" my 2003 Basic, although sm
technical couldn't find anything wrong with my software. They really tried hard. I see so many people that like Escription, I'm sorry not to be able to use it. Hopefully I can get Office Pro on my next machine, and maybe use it then. I could upgrade, but I'm still not sure it would work.
Ask a tax guy. Since you pay rent, I would think so

MT for rent?

MTSO 1 needs MT but for some reason hasn't been able to fill the position(s) so subcontracts with MTSO 2 to use #2s employees for #1s work.  MTSO 2 goes and hires  MTs who will remain employees of MTSO 2 but do all their work through MTSO 1's server.

Anyone heard of something like this?  They do not disclose the name of MTSO 1 when asked.

Why? Except for the rent all the rest is the same everywhere.

Anyone here rent a computer from MQ? I have a ?...

Did you fill out paperwork before you rented the computer?  Did they immediately start deducting the cost from your pay for rental?

I've never filled out any paperwork for my computer, it was just mailed to me.  Haven't seen rental deductions either.  Did I do something wrong?

No you didn't. You said you won't rent from him
.
Can you rent a car for about the same amount? sm
That way you could come and go as you pleased!
No rent that I know of, but cheaper to buy used on e-bay. nm
x
Yup! And newbies have to pay the rent and eat, too -
.
How do you rent a car without credit card?
I only use my debit card now.  However, how do you rent a rental car without a credit card?
My rent, alone, is $1400. Including sm
utilities and everything else, probably about $3600, and I live alone.
For most the mortgage/rent is the most expensive.

Maybe it's paid for so she doesn't have to pay any rent.
And that's why she kept it.  She did say in a post she doesn't earn much doing medical transcription.  At least it's a roof over head head. Cut her some slack would ya?
Are there any places that rent C-phones? sm

I don't mean companies that you work for, but some independent company that you could rent one from.   I had one for a long time, but then the company I work for went to wav files, and foolishly, I got rid of my C-phone.  Now I have an opportunity at another company that requires a C-phone, but they don't supply them or rent them.  Before buying something and then finding out the company stinks, I thought it would be nice to rent one.  Maybe this is a farfetched idea, but thought I'd ask.

Thanks.

why no, i don't live in snobville. did you think you knew me? i live in heritage hills a suburb
it takes a little longer to get to work and shopping but thank god i have some privacy and am away from the congestion.  lovely trees and lakes all around.  maybe about 20 minutes to a large shopping mall.  but no, i don't even know where snobville is.
Wouldn't that mean that you simply wouldn't have to print out everything?

Well...let's see. In 4 years rent in our area has increased at least $500/mo.
Health insurance has gone up.  Cost of prescription drugs has increased.   Food has increased.  Gasoline prices are now over $3 a gallon ($2.69 a gallon BEFORE the storm).  Now they're saying that we can expect a 20% increase in our electric bills and up to 71% increase in our heating/fuel bills.  All these increases and I've had a 40% CUT in pay.   You can believe any paper, magazine, TV news show, or politician you want to believe.  I believe my paycheck and my bills.
Yes, hound the renters every 5 days and at least get 1/2 of their rent

and then collect again in another 2 weeks.

Also, is the house a done deal? Can you back out of the purchase even if you took a loss? That might be the better way to go.

Lastly, you said your SUV took 30 bucks in gas. Is your SUV paid for and if so, can you sell it to get something more economical on gas? That might be an option until things get better.

Truly, these are just suggestions, meaning no disrespect.

Again, best of luck with everything!

What's *realistic* is that after I've paid my rent, (sm)
my utility bill, my car insurance, my ISP & phone bills, my medical co-payments, dental bill, etc., I usually have a choice between eating or buying gasoline. So currently my car sits in the carport, fuel-less and rarely driven, but insured - just so that I can continue my close relationship with Chef Boy-Ar-Dee and day-old (or older) bread.
If you think you can claim a part of rent as propety tax you can't.
It probably asks if you rent because then there would be no property taxes to claim.  If you owned then there would be property taxes.  It s/l it is walking you through the steps.  You can claim property taxes for vehicles, but you have incurred no property taxes as you don't own your residence.   I'm sure property taxes are considered when they decide how much to charge for rent, but who ever owns the property is paying the taxes and not you.
i'd suggest rent space on a system
I'd suggest you rent space on a system and skip the inital outlay of your money, tying up a phone line at home for the doc to call in.

A lady in the Seattle, Washington area has a system she rents space on. You can contact her at talk2meinc@aol.com

Good luck!!
If the softener doesn't work, then rent a steamer. nm

Made $5,500/yr. with full benefits at hospital. Rent 175.00. Car 75.00
I think back then we made more than the average secretary and the cost of living (Morgantown, WV) was low. I just remember that I had raises every year, one for performance and another for cost of living raises. My pay went up a few thousand every year with the raises, that much I recall. This was in 1977. West Virginia University Hospital. We had to be there at 8:15, one hour paid lunch, two 15 minute breaks and went home at 3:15. My supervisor sometimes took naps in the employee lounge. She was kick back. I learned how to speed read by researching Dorland's but terminology was not too out of the ordinary from what I recall. People who were ill back then had the usual problems (gallbladder, kidney stones, etc).

Rent an RV and go anywhere you would like -- My hubby and 3 dogs went across country last year and
had a great time!  Also, Gatlinburg, TN has wonderful cabins that are pet friendly and lots for the kids to do, although more in the summertime.
Question inside about Renting from Rent-A Center. sm

What was your expeience?  Is it very expensive?  I was thinking about renting a laptop computer to use for work on vacation for a couple of weeks and not ready to invest in purchasing a new laptop yet.  Can you rent things for about a month or do they require longer?

Thanks for any help you guys might give.');>

Any ideas on how to get a cheap rental car? I haven't had to rent a car

in a very long time.

thanks so much!

why yes the quality of air where i live is quite different than where the city people live.
Lots of pollution.  That's why everyone is moving away from the city and areas zoned for multiple housing units and low income housing and trailer parks.  Population is dense and near manufacturing.  So yes, the air is different but millions of people pay a little extra for the quality, the space and privacy afforded to those who move out of polluted crowded areas such as you defend.  There is always a reason why some areas and housing is cheaper than others.  Maybe it is the air and maybe it's something you can't quite put your finger on but you know you would prefer not to live in certain areas.  You know what I mean or are you living in one of those areas?  They tell after awhile you block out the sounds, the smells and get used to the pollution.  I don't know.  I didn't stay long enough to test the theory.  My mental and physical health is way too important to me.
I know they live a long time, so if there is a chance they will out live you - sm
make sure you make provisions for them in your will. I have only had cockatiels and some finches, so don't really know anything about the bigger birds. I love African Grey's but they are very expensive.
OK. Now if your husband is bringing you down by his mental illness and not paying rent
(is husband able to work? how deep is this mental illness? did he have money to pay rent and spent it elsewhere?) then maybe you should think about leaving him rather than placing your kids in any kind of foster care. That has to be traumatic but then so does living on the street. Speaking of placing your children in foster care while you get yourself OK in the head, what is your problem at this point. You see, if there is a lot of arguing and a dysfunctional family living on the streets, then foster care to permanent placement may be better for them. I just don't quite understand how you got into this mess and if these are mental health issues on both your part and your husband's I would look into placing the children. BTW, how old are they?

So all things considered if you don't have any issues other than depression because of a lack of a place to live and your husband's mental health, I would go to a family member or church and BEG for help sorting your life out. If there is more than that going on, including maybe substance abuse along with permanent mental health issues that will keep you from caring for your children, yes I would seek placement for them. And I would seek PERMANENT placement rather than foster care which I would think would be more traumatic for your children.
True but that is to cover the expenses like rent, office supplies, sm
manager salaries. That does not include payroll that is based on service.

A good example woould be this: You are starting a book store. You need to plan the original inventory and six months worth of expenses. If you sell that inventory, you use the money from that to buy more books. If you do not sell any at first, you can stay in business for six months while you get noticed.

With transcription or any service business, you need enough in the bank to cover the same expenses, those that can keep you afloat while building your client base. However, you only hire more people as you get more customers. The payroll does not figure into the 6 months as it is based on what you provide, whereas the 6 months takes into account what it takes to get it going even if you do not have 1 employee.

Very, very few companies can have $800,000 lying around. If they did, they probably would need to invest it in equipment or spend it in other ways or the IRS would consider it profit and tax the heck out of it!
Live and let live. Don't force your lifestyle on me.
