the Bible is followed first. If something contradicts what the Bible says then we aren't going to listen to it.
BTW if you are curious as to how the bible was really put together and not just bashing it, I encourage you to check out Josh Mcdowell's "Evidence That Demands a Verdict" it is a very good book. Really big book so it takes a long time to go through, but you don't have to read it straight through.
Of course most people that bash the Bible and Christianity don't take the time to research it, they just go on what they hear and the few things they see. But if you really want to know, check it out. It will explain a lot.
(BTW Josh Mcdowell had started out as an avid atheist who set out to prove Christianity false and ended up becoming a Christian himself.)
