Between May and July 2001, the National Security Agency reported

at least 33 different intercepts indicating a possible imminent al Qaeda attack. The FBI issued 216 secret, internal threat warnings between January 1 and September 10, 2001, of which 6 mentioned possible attacks against airports or airlines. The Federal Aviation Administration issued 15 notices of possible terrorist threats against American airlines. The State Department issued 9 separate warnings during the same period to embassies and citizens abroad, including 5 that highlighted a general threat to Americans all over the world.

Yeah, that Bill Clinton wasn't doing his job alright.

Oh, wait.

more of less secure?  Warrantless wiretapping on anybody, anytime for any reason, all being recorded.  OK with you?
So you don't believe we have national security concerns?
If you do believe we have national security issues then what is your answer to keeping us safe?
McCain and National Security

McCain Lobbyist Scandal Continues: Government Warned Senator That Campaign Manager Was Undermining National Interests

The lobbying firm of McCain campaign manager Rick Davis acted in direct opposition to American foreign interests, which prompted a warning to McCain's Senate office from the United States government, according to a recent New York Times article.

Much has been reported about Rick Davis, top McCain adviser and lobbyist whose company, Davis Manafort, made its fortune in part by accepting jobs that didn't require employees to register as lobbyists. Davis has been in particular hot water for his company's work with pro-Russian Ukranian political candidates; Davis arranged for one of Putin's allies to meet with McCain during the time.

However, the New York Times has managed to take that already embarrassing story and make it even worse:

Mr. McCain may have first become aware of Davis Manafort's activities in Ukraine as far back as 2005. At that time, a staff member at the National Security Council called Mr. McCain's Senate office to complain that Mr. Davis's lobbying firm was undercutting American foreign policy in Ukraine, said a person with direct knowledge of the phone call who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A campaign spokesman, when asked whether such a call had occurred, referred a reporter to Mr. McCain's office. The spokesman there, Robert Fischer, did not respond to repeated inquiries.

Such a call might mean that Mr. McCain has been long aware of Mr. Davis's foreign clients. Mr. Davis took a leave from his firm at the end of 2006.

This isn't the only time when Davis' business interests have appeared counter to those of the United States: Davis' Ukranian contacts shared several business ties with Iran.

McCain suffered from a perception problem last month when the extent of his lobbying connection caused his campaign to fire several key staffers, as well as institute a new conflict-of-interest policy. The McCain camp has said that Davis is unaffected by the policy, as its implementation is not retroactive. Davis is no longer registered as a lobbyist.

It's called national security. sm
jm is correct, in that the current administration's plans and policies have kept us safe.

A lot will be revealed, when it is safe to do so, so that our national security is not compromised.

Speaking of National Security,

I hope we are not having a war on US soil soon.

WASHINGTON - Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

The spies came from China, Russia and other countries, and were believed to be on a mission to navigate the U.S. electrical system and its controls, the newspaper said, citing current and former U.S. national security officials.

The intruders have not sought to damage the power grid or other key infrastructure but officials said they could try during a crisis or war, the paper said in a report on its website.
"The Chinese have attempted to map our infrastructure, such as the electrical grid," a senior intelligence official told the Journal. "So have the Russians."

The espionage appeared pervasive across the United States and does not target a particular company or region, said a former Department of Homeland Security official.

"There are intrusions, and they are growing," the former official told the paper, referring to electrical systems. "There were a lot last year."

Authorities investigating the intrusions have found software tools left behind that could be used to destroy infrastructure components, the senior intelligence official said. He added, "If we go to war with them, they will try to turn them on."

Officials said water, sewage and other infrastructure systems also were at risk.

Protecting the electrical grid and other infrastructure is a key part of the Obama administration's cybersecurity review, which is to be completed next week.
No threat to national security?

We just posted where these facilities are and what is going on, but hey....don't worry....no national security risk.  OMG!  What a bunch of flipping morons!!!

Repubublican, former National Security Advisor,
Secretary of State turned off by McCains negative campaign, impressed by O's intelligence and steady hand in the face of pressing issues and economic crisis. "Taxes are always a redistribution of wealth and not socialism." Presidents get to examine tax structure. This is what perhaps one of the most respected republican with brains looks like. Highly unlikely he would endorse a socialist terrorist. Talks about need for "inclusion," not division and sees Obama as a "transformational" figure who reaches across generations.

Yep, that pretty much covers all the bases.
Civilian National Security Force...

These are Obama's words...

"We cannot rely only on our military for our national security, we need to have a Civilian National Security force that is just as strong, just as well funded."

Civilian National Security Force
From FactCheck.org (Complete analysis at link below.)

Obama was not talking about a "security force" with guns or police powers. He was talking specifically about expanding AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps and the USA Freedom Corps, which is the volunteer initiative launched by the Bush administration after the attacks of 9/11, and about increasing the number of trained Foreign Service officers who populate U.S. embassies overseas.
My biggest concern is National Security. Obama

This is an amazing article that not too suprisingly will probably go unaddressed, right along with Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae corporate bailout story. The're too busy getting ready for the coronation ball. However, I just wanted to thank you for passing this along. The links and other articles also lead to some insightful and interesting reads on stories that will probably end up thrown under the royal coach. Let them eat cake!
You might try the Witness Protection Agency... sm
I hear they can help you with that.
It is an agency created by Congress, but is privately owned. sm
The stocks are owned by member banks, and they are private corporations. Every penny of income tax collected goes to private lenders for interest only on the national debt.

Quote from the Grace Commission report: "100% of what is collected is absorbed
solely by interest on the Federal Debt ...
all individual income tax revenues are gone
before one nickel is spent on the services
taxpayers expect from government."
Getting closer to July 4. Here's what NK groups are saying

This is a little long but it's 2 articles. Sounds like they are getting pumped up and ready for a fight. Funny, I don't remember 2 million troops fighting in the Korean War. Anybody else?

"Workers and GFTUK Members Meet to Protest against U.S. Imperialists

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- Workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea held a meeting on the bank of the River Taedong where the monument to the sinking of the U.S. ship of aggression "General Sherman" stands and the U.S. imperialist armed spy ship "Pueblo" is anchored on Tuesday on the occasion of the "June 25 the Day of the Struggle against U.S. Imperialism."

A reporter and speakers at the meeting recalled that the sworn enemy U.S. imperialists stretched the tentacles of aggression to Korea from more than a century ago and ignited a war of aggression to destroy the young DPRK in its cradle on June 25, 1950.

The Korean war was the most brazen-faced and brigandish war of aggression in the world history of wars and a savage war of genocide baffling the human imagination, they said.

Noting that the U.S. imperialists have imposed all sorts of misfortune and sufferings upon the Korean people during the history, they declared that should the U.S. imperialists ignite a war again, the army and people of the DPRK will fully mobilize the nation's capability for self-defence built in every way under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, illustrious commander of Mt. Paektu, and wipe out the aggressors in this land to the last one and achieve the historic cause of national reunification.

They stressed the need for the workers and the members of the GFTUK to protect Kim Jong Il, who represents the destiny of the country and the nation, politically and ideologically at the cost of their lives and glorify the ever-victorious history of Songun Korea with the might of single-minded unity more powerful than a nuclear weapon, united closer around the headquarters of the revolution.

A letter of protest was read out at the meeting."

Agricultural Workers Vow to Take Revenge upon Enemy

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- A meeting of agricultural workers was held outside the Class Education Hall in Kaesong City on Tuesday to vow to take revenge upon the enemy on the occasion of "June 25, the day of the struggle against U.S. imperialism".

Kang Chang Uk, chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, made a report at the meeting.

Speeches were made there.

Kang and the speakers said that the Korean war launched by the U.S. imperialists was the most brazen-faced and brigandish war of aggression to suffocate the DPRK and reduce the whole of Korea to their colony.

They condemned the thrice-cursed atrocities committed by the U.S. imperialists, recalling that they hurled more than two million troops including their aggressor forces and a huge quantity of war hardware into the Korean war, indiscriminately killing innocent people and reducing the cities, farm villages, industrial establishments, schools and hospitals to ashes.

They declared that the army and people in the DPRK will get fully prepared to go into action and would turn out to defend the country to the last in a do-or-die spirit, should the U.S. imperialists intrude into their fertile land even an inch.

The servicepersons and people in the DPRK will remain unfazed in face of any sanctions and blockade of the U.S. imperialists and are sure to win as long as they are under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, illustrious commander of Mt. Paektu, and have invincible military power and their single-minded unity."

Libs learned these tactics lessons from the republican camp.
July 2008 - I guess our Supreme Court was full of crap, too, huh?

July 2008

In a stinging blow to the Bush administration, the Supreme Court has ruled prisoners in Guantanamo Bay can challenge their detention in civilian federal courts. The ruling marked the third time in four years the Supreme Court has ruled against the Bush administration concerning the rights of Guantanamo prisoners.

North Korea threaten to fire missile towards Hawaii on 4th of July
On the 4th of July. How should the US respond?

From 2001
EXTREMISM ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT
Many believe that leftist extremism in the United States was at its peak during the 1960s and 1970s and that right-wing extremism then became the major threat. While the
bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City and a number of other incidents attributed to right-wing extremists indicate that the major threat is from the right, leftist extremism remains a concern within the United States.
I wonder if that settled down since 2001. nm

Something else happened in 09/2001........ sm
My 17YO stepson was killed in a motorcycle accident in which a car pulled out in front of him. He had been taught to safely ride a motorcycle, had a helmet on, and was traveling at a safe rate of speed. Was it his fault he was killed? Was it his parents' fault he was killed? Was it the City of Mesquite's fault he was killed?

No.

It was a tragedy, but there is nothing that could have been done to keep that accident from happening from our standpoint. The only person who could have prevented it was the driver of the car who pulled out in front of him.

Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. Bush could not have stopped the 911 disaster. He was not the pilot of any of the planes. He could not personally marshall each plane and verify each passenger on the manifest. He could not keep those planes from crashing into the Towers or the Pentagon or in the field in Pennsylvania.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing the Dems bash Bush from everything from 911 to their own bad hair days. If you are going to blame anyone in the US for 911, blame the airlines who did not have proper security in place in the event that terrorists might try something like this. Blame Clinton for not taking out Bin Laden when he had 3, count 'me, THREE chances to do so. Or better yet, blame AL Quaida for sending their terrorists off in search of their 70 virgins. I'm not the biggest Bush fan in the world, but the man does not deserve to be blamed for things he had no control over. Oh, sure, he may have known that terroist activitis were brewing, but as I said, he could not have done anything to stop what happened.
Uh...the DATE was 9/11/2001
I do believe that was Dumb-ya's administration. Why don't you read a book? You need some education.
Who was Pres on 09/11/2001?
Why would anyone give him credit for PROTECTING us?
Yes, my income grew after 2001...nm
Moved home, and I took my primary account home with me as an IC, and then promptly found two other accounts. I've always worked more than one job, and being at home is no different. And it's always been just me doing the work, no one else.

However, in the last two years, since dems have had control of Congress, my income has plummeted by 20,000. The most I ever made was close to $80,000 a year, and that was working 12 hours a day, every day, seven days a week.

Now, I have to work more day, get paid less, and make somewhere around $55 or 60,000.

I'm an IC MT/editor/QA type person, who does all three, for different clients, depending on who I work for.

Not an MTSO, but took advantage of all the tax breaks for small businesses, as well as HSA account for health purposes, just for my husband and myself.

Soooo...to answer your question to sam....Yes, I did well in the first four years after 9/11. I work my butt off, to be able to live where I do. We're middle class America....but dropping fast.

I cannot afford to have more taxes. I cannot afford to pay for more social programs for those who do not work.

As someone said recently on this board. Why should I work my butt off to make $60,000 a year, to be told I am in an upper middle class bracket, and have to dole out thousands more in taxes to the people who refuse to work? (And if they can't work, there are progrmas for them) I'd do just as well working only 40 hours a week, instead of the 80 to 100 I do work.

Do not believe for a moment, that Obama knows what he's doing for the economy. It's all a subterfuge to raise taxes anything that isn't tied down, and then some. A one time tax rebate to lower and middle America, to buy their votes. Then tax, tax, tax.

No thanks.

If we had NUKED the Afghan SOB's on 9/12/2001,

Before discounting this because it is on a conservative site....the You Tube tape is there...you can hear "O" in his own words.

Pot meets kettle. You mean like Tom Delay's 2000-2001
We are still dealing with the aftermath. But hey, he was just trying to help out the shrub and the rest of the GOP good ole boys.
No objective person can state with 100% certainty what happened 9-11-2001.
Some believe what they were told via news, some believe the new presentation of facts, theories, evidence, and logic. I believe that al-Quaeda terrorist attacked the US on 9-11. I take to the conspiracy theories with a grain of salt, until different is proven to be true. Out of all of the theories and logic presented, the one unanswered question is why was the bin Laden family allowed to flee America the day after the attacks??? It's at least one piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit and to me the American public has not gotten a satisfactory answer. Heck, most don't even know or care.

On a lighter note, have you seen The Seige starring Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis? Released in 1998 and eerily similar to post 9-11.
Who reported that? SM
But as I said, it really doesn't matter to me. I like him.
reported it
I reported it to the administrator and monitor.
This definitely needs to be reported!

I certainly hope you report this to the monitor, gt.  They KNOW you're Jewish.  You've mentioned it many, many times on this board.

Can you imagine how pitiful their lives must be to cause them to stoop to such a low level?

What they really deserve is pity.

NOBODY bothered them on their board.  They came here ONLY to cause trouble and try to turn this board into a sewer like their own board.  I can't imagine what it must be like to harbor so much hatred in one heart; it can't leave much room for the Jesus they claim to worship so much.  It must be a very heavy burden.  We've done nothing to them.

This board was starting to become a pleasant place to visit again.  I guess it was just too much for them to take.

Reported to the FBI??

Who's paranoid now?? My point is that this is a board that at best is duplicitous. I did not know it was privately owned and run by an extremely conservative individual.  I know I left the religion board a long time ago because it was run by someone who appeared to be of the religous right who deleted posts left and right and was very ugly about it in the process. On an open forum, people can be of any faith or none at all. I seem to remember the Pagan/Wiccan posts going first. Anyway, at the time I thought it was odd that MTStars would allow one of its volunteers (see below) to dismiss anyone who was not of his or her persuasion on a public forum. I do not think that a private person with a private agenda should be given a platform to expound on that platform on an open discussion board.   The first page of MT Stars states, and I quote...MTStars provides this site, free of charge, to all MTs and those holding other related positions in the healthcare industry. We believe that an open forum with a minimum of deletion is paramount to successful networking across the globe, and we are confident that this is why MTStars is the success it is today.

MTStars takes this opportunity to thank our many sponsors and volunteers. Without you MTStars would not be a reality. That last statement leads me to believe that sponsors put up the money and volunteer MTs did the administrative/moderator work and had to be openminded and fair in their assessments of posts. I wonder what the sponsors would think if they knew exactly what it is they are buying (in its entirety). I am looking forward to speaking with someone from MTStars as well as ForuMatrix. The more you know...

Reported to the FBI...
Friend Lurker, you are the one who sounds paranoid. Yes, a death threat to the President of the United States, ANY President of ANY party, is supposed to be reported to the FBI or Secret Service, regardless of where it originates. That is what the poster meant. As to this board....what is your problem? If you don't want to post here, don't. If you don't like the way it is handled, don't stay. So far as I can tell, the only posts that have been removed have been ones that bash this country or bash the President. I trust it would be the same no matter what party the President belonged to. It is called respect of tradition, respect of the office, respect of the origins of this country...which you obviously don't give a whit about. Thank God there are people who still do. Thank God!
It has just been reported
to the FBI tips hotline. I hope they will definitely take action on this!
CNN just reported it as well.........
-
I'm saying CNN reported showed it rt b4
Still looking, but since CNN repeats their stuff so much, you can probably catch the report later this p.m.
You mean reported by Politico
You couldn't possibly be quoting Fox as reliable, now could you???
FOX reported this but not a word from CNN
)
Wrong you are.......it has already been reported
@
They also reported that this operation is
in "retaliation" for those Israelis killed by Hamas bombings into Israel since the cease fire expired on December 19. Hamas launched their offensive because (as usual) Israel failed to live up to their end of the bargain and did not lift the blockade of supplies into Gaza, which was a precondition of the original cease fire (that lasted 6 months).

The report said that for all of 2008, Hamas had killed a grand total of 9 Israelis with their home-made missles, 2 of them being the ones you mentioned that occurred since this most recent operation. It is difficult to ascertain how many Palestinians have been killed in the past year by the Israelis just in their "normal" day-to-day policing in the occupied terrotories, but you can bet your bootie it's been more than 9.

Bottom line has not changed. That's life (and death) under occupation.
So if this story was reported on
CNN and you claim that it was picked up on from Fox News with Fox's spin....wouldn't it be the responsbility of CNN to debunk that then instead of just reporting what Fox News did if Fox News is indeed wrong.  If Fox News is full of crap and CNN reports the same thing...wouldn't CNN be full of crap too or are you giving CNN a free pass just like the media does Obama?  Just curious.
Oh, I feel you. I don't know which is better for the Iraqi's, b/c what is usually reported is sm
the military casualties, not the civilian casualties in Iraq.

Fox News did report this week about a military man whose family was murdered, wife and children while he was out working. That's awful, that's terror. When I hear stories like that I do think of the terror the people are experiencing due to this war, but they did have it bad under Sadaam. They're in a catch 22.

This was reported on none other than Fox News yesterday.
I'd say if she's camping out in front of his house what would it hurt to peek his head out and talk with the woman? But then again, he probably has nothing to say other than, "We're making progress. War is hard."

She's obviously had time and enough grief to set in to do a 360. You know people handle grief differently.

I think he doesn't want to talk to her now because she's upset, and Bush does not do well in face-to-face adversial situations, so he probably wouldn't be able to help her by talking to her anyway.

It does not matter who reported it, Taiga...
there are facts within it that are not in dispute. Take the Tim Russert thing for example. He had the pictures of the 747 fuselage at Salman Pak. He showed it on his TV show. He showed it to Cheney. Only at that time, it was RUSSERT who was saying to CHENEY "Can you honestly sit there and tell me you don't think there is a 9-11 connection?" That is a fact, Taiga. It happened. I can see why no one else would report it. And as to timely? You have to report it when it happened. And it did happen. All I am saying is...basically you can't believe ANYONE because the left wing and the right wing have been on both sides, top and bottom of this issue. They have all flip-flopped on it. So WHO do you believe? I tend to believe the picture. I have seen the picture. They showed the picture on TV numerous times (the Salman Pak picture). And as the article stated, none of those facts are in dispute, even from the 9-11 commission, except one.

As to the 9-11 Commission...don't get me started. Did you actually watch any of it while it was happening? Talk about a stacked deck and questions asked to get certain answers. What a JOKE that was. That being said, there is a lot of information that came out that never made it to the "assessment" they put out. I was watching it during the time George Tenet testified. He says in his book he never said slam dunk, but he darn well did, I HEARD him. And that never made it into the "assessment" either. I purposely watched as much of the 9-11 hearings as I could, because I knew a lot was not going to make the "assessment." Independent they were not. That was exceedingly obvious from the questioning.

I do not understand your penchant for "timely." If something happened, it happened. That is what I mean about selective memory. You remember it if it is germane to your discussion, and you dismiss it as "the past" (like it never happened) and use "timely" as an excuse. I really don't get that. But, I don't have to...whatever floats yer boat.
This story is reported all over the networks, not just
nm
No, but they have repeatedly reported the anchor
@
Excuse me. This was reported by NBC, LA Times, etc.
Now you can see why "poisoning the well" arguments are so pathetic unless you get your facts straight first.

And, incidentally, there's no network that covers the news more fairly than Fox (sometimes even to the point that I am aggravated when their guests or commentators take a certain position). You might start watching it yourself, and then you'd never post a ridiculous comment like this again.
Excuse me. This was reported by NBC, LA Times, etc.
Now you can see why "poisoning the well" arguments are so pathetic unless you get your facts straight first.

And, incidentally, there's no network that covers the news more even-handedly than Fox, to the point that people on each side of the aisle accuse them of being slanted toward the other side!! I know they've aggravated me more than once with their liberal guests and commentators - but that's the hallmark of fair reporting, IMHO.

Stop drinking the lefty koolaid.
It was reported on all the major news
All I have do to know what will be posted on this form is watch Fox commentators and read a few conservative websites. All some of you do is regurgitate the half-truths and out-right lies spoon fed to you by people with an agenda. Think for yourselves once in a while.
