Teen charged with charged with one felony count of terroristic threatening...see article

Teen charged with threats

Middle-school boy e-mailed theats to officials

FLORENCE - A 13-year-old Ockerman Middle School student has been charged with threatening George W. Bush, just days before the president is set to throw the first pitch for Reds Opening Day in Cincinnati.

The teen - described by a police investigator as a student of presidential politics - remained in the custody of his mother Tuesday afternoon at their Florence home.

He is charged with one felony count of terroristic threatening.

He is extremely well versed in the history of President Bush, Florence police Capt. Linny Cloyd said. In talking with him, you can tell this is a hot-button topic with him.

Cloyd launched an investigation after Florence Mayor Diane Whalen received an anonymous threatening e-mail. Cloyd and Whalen refused to give a more detailed account of the threats or release the e-mails.

As investigators worked to track down the sender, a second e-mail arrived in Whalen's city e-mail account. That e-mail threatened Bush and was also sent to the White House, Vice President Cheney and the Pentagon.

If the teen was just looking for attention, he certainly got it, said Whalen, who doesn't know the teen or his parents. I think the key thing here is you can't ignore any threat in these times.

Cloyd went to the teen's home Monday evening with agents from the FBI and Secret Service.

He is a student of the present administration, Cloyd said. He described the teen as in tune with current political affairs.

We asked him what brought him to this point, Cloyd said. He didn't have an answer he was willing to share with us.

Cloyd said the teen's parents consented to a search of the home, and investigators did not find anything, such as weapons, that led them to believe the teen was intending to carry out the threats.

Investigators seized a computer from the home. Cloyd said additional charges might hinge on what's recovered from the hard drive.

Mom was shocked, Cloyd said. That would lead me to believe, if the parents are politically active, it isn't in the same manner at all. He said the teen acted alone, and there is no evidence anyone else is involved

Investigators said the teen will appear in Boone Family Court within two weeks.

If you leave our board, I'll leave your board.

Hopefully everybody will quit!
And they can stop building and maintaining sports arenas, etc., etc., on the backs of the smokers - sin tax anyone? You can bet your sweet patootie, there'd be rioting (in the Senate) if they tried taxing alcohol as hard as they tax tobacco.
I don't have to quit anything........
the lies, corruption, abuse of power, shredding the constitution, voiding the Geneva Convention, on and on and on - ALL unforgiveable!!  If you forget the past, you are condemned to repeat it. Screw Bush - I hope he fries in he!! along with his neo-con nazi followers.
Exactly! Maybe if he'd quit doing that
we'd stop ragging on him!
I don't think most smoker's will quit just to

but I agree with you to some extent.  I think most American's would be happy to have their taxes raised a little bit if it meant saving the life of even 1 child or improving the health of a chronically ill child.  I certainly wouldn't mind having my taxes raised to help children AND the elderly get more affordable healthcare.  On the other hand, for now the cigarette tax is a great idea, and if it does help some people quit, more power to them!  I'm sure you see the same thing I do in medical reports every day though - people with COPD, asthma, lung cancer - still smoking!!  If impending death isn't enough to make a lot of people quit I don't think $1 extra per pack will either.

come on sam quit hiding

If you are sick of it, then why don't you quit

going to get rich somehow with Obama in the White House.  This stuff doesn't happen overnight.

Furthermore anyone with a 401K or stocks know that there is a downside.  You don't always win...  So who is looking for free money now?  Oh the stock holders are??????  These are the same people that live the good life.  Well too bad!   You lose because you put your faith in the stock market...  Oh well..  Do I feel pity?  Nope.  Not when there are people struggling just to make minimum wage.

I was born with no money in my hand and I'll die with no money in my hand.  Makes no difference to me really.

Anyone with any sense knows "you can't take it with ya'."  Savor the moment.

All of you republicans out there that think McCain is going to somehow turn this country around are in for a big shock when he gets in there.  The joke is on him.  He thinks this Palin person is going to get him in, and he's oh so wrong!  I have to wonder if he really is demented.  Really?????

me too - who else plans to quit
Why work. There are no incentives. Why should I work when my money will be taken and given to people like Peggy Joseph who stated she won't have to work to buy gas and she won't have to work to pay her mortgage.

Well, I did quit for a whole 3 weeks

I do not hate Bush...please quit..
saying that. That remark wasn't aimed at me, but I want to respond. Just because I, for one, do not care for him as president, do not trust his decisions, and think he is a moron, does not mean I hate him. I actually feel sorry for him because I don't think he even realized what the job involved. I think he was talked into running by the Republican party. Kind of like you talk a kid into something. I think George Bush had an easy ride as far as criticism the first few years of his term. A lot of people believed he walked on water. Even though I did not vote for him and did not believe he had all the character that he was hyped up to have, I never "hated" the guy. I don't hate him now. I'm just saddened and sickened by the eight wasted years with him in office and all of the damage that the Republican and the Democrats in Congress have allowed to happen under his reign. Many say he has a good heart and that may be true, but he did not and does not have the mental ability to hold such a position in good or hard times. Sorry if this offends any Republicans or Bush supporters, but my God surely you have to agree this probably sweet husband and good father was bilked into the presidency by his cronies so they could have a wheeling-dealing good ole time...and they did...just look at us now. We are paying for it and will for a long time.
I would quit trying to talk to these lefties.
nm
I quit because it was expensive, so it might work for some...
In Washington I was paying almost $7/pack if I bought them out in town. I really think that the tax money on cigarettes would be better spent funding Medicare for the people who have developed emphysema from smoking. It would be like your own little medical savings account, you just have no choice but to put money in it, unless you quit smoking. You really should consider quitting, though, JTBB. I feel so much better since I quit. But that is all I will say because it really is none of my business and I am sure you have heard that enough times!
And what happens when more smokers quit? Who is going to pay for the unfunded sm
mandate then? I say spread the pain around now and find a viable way of paying for the program.
I really wish you would quit this childish stuff.

Obama quit smoking at the start of his...sm
Campaign, so worry no more. (I think Obama smoked 1/2 to 1 pack a day.)

McCain is also a former smoker - 2 packs a day. How long either of them smoked, I don't know, but they are BOTH former smokers.

As far as the "radicals and communists" comment, you don't think McCain has "associated with" plenty of questionable people in his decades in government? I do.
Kathleen Parker wants Palin to quit.
Criticism of John McCain from the right has escalated this week, from George Will to the Wall Street Journal's editorial page. But some conservatives, in the wake of the Katie Couric interview, are also having second thoughts about Sarah Palin. Popular syndicated columnist and TV pundit Kathleen Parker, for example, has seen enough.

In a surprising post at National Review's site, she calls for Palin to step aside for the good of the country (and benefit of her family), saying she is out of her depth.

Parker writes: "No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

"If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself. If Palin were a man, we’d all be guffawing, just as we do every time Joe Biden tickles the back of his throat with his toes. But because she’s a woman — and the first ever on a Republican presidential ticket — we are reluctant to say what is painfully true.

"What to do?

"Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first. Do it for your country."

In his book, Audacity of Hope, Obama said, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
The saying is very true: you become the company you keep!!

What do you, Obama lovers, make of that comment by your own candidate?

Obama's relationship with Ayers is bad enough, BUT  it is also his involvement with Rev. Wright, Tony Risko, Father Flagran and Khalidi (that we know of) that is of great concern; these people are radicals to the core.   If elected, Obama will need to fill over 3000 positions in his administration.  Who in the heck do you think will come calling for him to return the favors to these people for helping him to get to where he is?

I do not think he meant he would quit taking his legal deductions -
I think he meant he did not mind paying 3% more on what was left, which is what is being proposed.

I don't expect anyone to quit taking their legal deductions and I don't see how his taking those deductions can be construed as his not having to pay more taxes. The amount you owe comes off the adjusted amount and that will still be the same after he itemizes - just the percentage paid against that amount will change.

Don't leave AW
Dont' leave American woman. I am the original poster, and I don't care what someone who comes onto this board just to troll thinks in the least, it did not bother me at all, so hold on there, Quickdraw!
Don't ask them to leave.
It's fun watching all their hatred explode to the point where they wind up fighting with each other but are too stupid to know it!
I don't want to leave them to die...sm
But I don't want to be moving slow and steady 20 years from now. Something has got to give. Either fight like its a war and not an occupation, or come on home. The course we are on is not working and I think America is waking up to that. If the democrats change this course and you don't like it, blame Bush. He had 3 years and some months to pick up the pace over there.

I believe if Bush came out and admitted going into Iraq was a *mistake,* which it was, but which he will never do. And if he reached across the aisle for solutions to get us out *not cut and run* and *NOT stay the course.*
What does that mean? Means, I don't want to leave Iraqis to die, but I think Iraqis should take over the course.

I can't for the life of me understand that if Iraqis want this democracy as bad as we do, why not every man and boy fit to fight are not taking to the street to fight for the same. That's anybody's guess.

Side note: Funny how Bush and the likes have been squelshing any idea that this war has nothing to do with oil, but lately Bush himself has been on the campaign trail making comments that if we leave terrorist will get the oil. And he's said he's never said stay the course, WOW!
Oh no, kam...don't leave. They NEED you...
No, they don't just want the minority vote and the poor vote...they want all the votes, just like any other political party. I just find it mildly amusing that when Johnson signed the civil rights act he commented to his aide that the Dems had lost the south for a decade. That was his concern...losing the southern vote because (gasp) they were giving African Americans the vote. And what came next for Pres Johnson? The "War on Poverty" and the start of entitlement programs out the kazoo. If he and the Democratic party were really "true liberals," and they were in power and had the power, why would they have not embarked upon this mission BEFORE African Americans got the vote? They were somehow more worthy of programs when they could vote?

Having said that, I have never been against helping those truly in need, and even if starting it was self-serving, the end result was that those truly in need did get help and that part of it is a very good thing. It has ballooned, however, into a massive cash cow that is not overseen and the waste is astronomical. So, whatever administration is in, whatever party has the power, should exercise some common sense and prioritize as far as programs are concerned, cut the waste, and not raise taxes on us anymore. I would think that liberals and conservatives alike could agree on that point.

Not only will we not leave them with peace,

deficit in American history, caused by WHAT?

And I just love how anyone who doesn't agree with them is labeled as having no values.

What kind of values does someone have to take a healthy surplus upon entering office and not only SQUANDERING it but then going on to create the biggest deficit in American history?

What kind of values does someone have to send our children to an unnecessary war to die and/or be injured while neglecting to give them inadequate supplies?

What kind of values does someone have to send our children off to a foreign land to die for his own personal bogus war, when he was too much of a coward to serve in combat duty himself?

What kind of values does someone have to take the blood of 9/11 victims and the fear of all other Americans and USE it to wage a bogus war against Iraq when that was his goal before he was even elected President?

What kind of values does someone have to not care enough about securing or borders or our ports or protecting our airspace and chemical/nuclear plants and decreases the budget for rail and subway security?

What kind of values does someone have to have to neglect to develop enough smallpox vaccines FOUR YEARS after the worst attack in American history, when bio attacks using smallpox was felt to be a threat?

What kind of values does someone have to have to make sure that his huge war budget includes FREE comprehensive medical benefits for all Iraqi citizens while he presides over a country where many of his own citizens who work 40 hours or more a week can't even afford health insurance?

What kind of values does someone have to have to deny American scientists the opportunity to study stem cell research, using the argument that he wants to "protect life" when he presides over a country where our children are being routinely molested and MURDERED by animals who the government refuses to keep in jail?

Out of all the talk on these boards about life being "precious" as it regards stem cell research, I have yet to see ONE SINGLE POST about the multitude of children that have been abducted, sexually abused and murdered in this country in the last six months.  What kind of values does someone have to have to care more about cells in a petrie dish than the children who are already here?

Those examples aren't values. Those examples do nothing but reflect the values that are ABSENT in an egotistical moron of a president who, at his very BEST, is nothing but DANGEROUS.

And of course, let's just leave out what DixieDew said to Nan. SM
That's so much more convenient.  Who's the phoney now?
