wrong...barney frank, chris dodd, and the
Dem members of the Banking and Finance Committee are wholly responsible. John McCain cosponsored a bill in 2006 and described this exact scenario, as did Allen Greenspan and John Snow (treasury secretary). The Dems killed it in committee. Voted to a man against it. And here we are. Nice try...no cigar (no pun intended). This is one that you can't lay on the Republicans. The facts do not support you on this one. No matter how much you deny it. And deny it you will. You can't help yourself.
Fannie and Freddie....Barney Frank, Chris Dodd...
you left them off your list. The two MAJOR players. Who got the most donations from fannie/freddie? Barack Obama and Chris Dodd. Obama got more from them in his 3 years than other senators did in 20. You do the math and follow the money.

Talk about ignorance....Chris Dodd, Barney Frank....
Fannie Mae...ring any bells? The housing crash is what started this downhill spiral. Talk about snorting Kool-aid...you must have an IV. O starts talking, brain stops working.

The war has cost us plenty...as did 9-11. But the economy didn't go south until the fannie/freddie debacle which started the dominos on wall street falling because of the "bad paper." So you can rant and rave all you want to about the war...your duly elected Dems in Congress screwed us ALL over. But go ahead, blame Bush...this is all on YOU folks. YOU voted them in. I had nothing to do with it...lol. I believe it is called stewing in your own juices...even if you are so in denial you don't realize it...but oh well...no surprise. :)
Know that. That's my name for Barney Frank.
Kinda fitting, I think.
Barney Frank is a big culprit in this...

however, it is the HOMEOWNERS responsibility to READ YOUR CONTRACT. Geesh people, the lenders did loan to those they knew couldn't pay, but the people who bought a $300,000 home making $50,000 cannot be excused, they too bear responsibility. Anyone facing foreclosure now who gets bailed out should never be allowed to own another home without 20% or more CASH downpayment. We make our mortgage payment on time every month, add extra to the principal, have never been late, have never taken out a HELOC or a second mortgage and yet we are expected to help those out who probably shouldn't have bought a home in the first place.

Barney Frank (D) is the one who several years ago pushed the mortgage lenders to lend to EVERYONE so all could have homes. Read the Boston Globe Op-Ed piece by Jeff Jacoby for a good explanation.

What does anything Barney Frank said have to do with Obama? nm

Barney Frank is to blame for the economic
BUT, Barney Frank is to blame for the corrupt government interference in mortgages and forcing banks to loan to people who by no means had any business trying to buy a home!!

Barney Frank has been in Congress since 1981. He has been the head of the Financial Services Committee and has been in charge of pushing all these government regulations onto banks.....

LETS CALL IT LIKE IT IS!!! He's a corrupt SOB and he needs to be kicked out of there! And now he dares to come across suddenly acting as if he is doing EVERYTHING he can to get the banking business flowing again! BULL! He's got them just where he wants them, indebted to the government. WHat happens next? Government run banks....... socialism......governments lending YOU, the citizen, monies, owning you, your family, and everything else in your life.......you need to do YOUR HOMEWORK!
Barney Frank in prison, is that that what you'd call
x
Barney Frank.....what planet did he fall off

Barney Frank wants less govt and state rights when it comes to drugs.... but he wants "regulation" and "more enforcement" when it comes to everything else that takes away MY rights...... what a joke!

Caught an ad-Barney Frank is going to be on O'Reilley
tonight or Thursday night? I think BF is a glutton for punishment. I hope, but doubt, BF will answer some questions instead of blowing smoke again.
Chris Dodd

"People are angry about bailouts, but would be more upset if the big 3 go under."

I hope they put his info on the news. I just can't type fast enough to cover it and don't want to put words in his mouth. The hearing was 6 hours long! Whew!

What I got from most of it was that GM and Ford have unsecured debt while Chrysler has secured debt and that the Chrysler CEO would step down if that would help his company.  Wagoner (GM) and Gettlefinger are working together and GM keeps defending the UAW.

"Bankruptcy is the wrong approach," Dodd says. "There is concensus that inaction is not an option and the concensus is that we are not going to write a check without stipulations. My sense is that I have a working situation here and I'm going to get it done.... I need the federal reserve and the treasury to step up."

On the other bailouts, "I am through giving them money. I still have 9.000 people a day losing their homes and they (I think he's talking about Paulson) still haven't done anything about it."

More on Barney Frank...he is SO dirty in this economic mess....

Chris Dodd is going to be on CNBC
in a couple minutes with a press conference. Don't know what it's all about. Just caught the end of the announcement.
Murtha, Pelosi, Barney Frank, Al Franken!, ughh!.
nm
I just heard that Chris Dodd also wants to attach...
a proviso for some money to be given to certain groups...ACORN being one of them. What is up with that?? ACORN is being sued right and left for voter fraud.

The rationale for reducing the capital gains tax (for a short term, not permanently) is so that investors will be stimulated to invest again, and infuse some of THAT money back into the markets that will perhaps take at least SOME of that off ALL of us. I don't have a problem at all with a temporary reduction or even suspension of capital gains tax for a couple of months if it will reduce how much we are all on the hook for. Just my opinion.
and who is #2 on the receiving end of Chris Dodd and his cronies???? OBAMARAMA, that's who. sm
You can't call out one and not the other. If anything, they are BOTH guilty.
And who is #2 on the receiving end of Chris Dodd and his cronies???? OBAMARAMA, that's who. sm
You can't out one and not the other. They probably BOTH are guilty, but accuse them both, not just McCain.
Listening to Harry Reid/Chris Dodd news conference...

I don't know how they can stand up there and lie through their teeth like that...blaming the White House and Republicans for this financial debacle.  They know that is a lie.  They know, especially Chris Dodd, was central to this.  Also mentioned Barney Frank.  Good grief.  The hypocrisy is staggering.  They should be talking about getting us out of this mess....just yesterday they were saying don't play the blame game.  Telling McCain not to politicize it while they are politicizing it.  That man makes my skin crawl.

And saying there was a "deal" and McCain blew it up.  The only "deal" was among senators...the only house person present could not negotiate.  He just had to listen.  If they had the plan and had gone to the house with it, then the house would have blocked it there and hours if not days would have been wasted.  Amazing the gall of some folks.  Ridiculous!!!

Why can't they all stop the political posturing and just fix this mess.  The House is only reacting to the onslaught of emails from their constituents saying protect us here, we don't like this carte blanche 700 billion.  I for one am GLAD at least the Republicans in the house said whoa wait just a minute here.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure anyone can quickly
get us out of Iraq. What's more important to me is to have a comprehensive plan. We are in a HUGE (I cannot emphasize that enough) mess that is going to take time to get cleaned up. I'm not sure I truly believe those that say they will have us out 3 months after taking office. I do want us OUT of Iraq, more than you can imagine, but we have to handle this correctly. I am interested in hearing more of what the candidates have to say about how exactly they would do things.
How quickly we forget...(sm)

Bush has made campaign promises to:

Lower the price of oil -- didn't happen. Reform healthcare -- didn't happen.  Improve foreign relations -- sooo didn't happen.  Education reform -- not even close.  Increase domestic oil and gas production and exploration -- another swing and a miss.  "Transition to a market economy" not dependent on federal supports. --  ROFL.  That's just a few.

You seem to think it's okay for Bush to not come through on his promises (for 2 terms in a row), but you are just dying to jump all over Obama who hasn't even been sworn in yet.

Oh Please, how we forget so quickly.
Bush will write a book and will be able to share some of the terrorist acts that were to happen on US soil and attacks were able to be stopped before they happened. Bush could not tell about because of being in office, but now he will share. I bet it had something to do with Iraq too.

You forget so quickly. Just be glad you were not in NY area during 911, but then if you were, maybe you would remember.
How quickly we forget....(sm)

What I want to know is why can't the government start something that would charge companies who outsource production to other countries?

The answer to that lies in Bush tax cuts to those corporations.  Watch that stimulus plan.  The pubs want to add more tax cuts for those very same companies instead of working on infrastructure which is what this stimulus is all about in the long run.

And since we're talking about the stimulus, here's what I think.  I am in favor of it.  However, Obama tried to compromise with the pubs and put in some of their tax cuts and cut out some of his programs in the hopes of getting some pub support.  I say since they obviously aren't going to support it unless it looks like another pub trickle down tax cut (as evidenced by no pub votes in the house), the dems just need to go back to the original plan (maybe adding more for infrastructure) and just push the bill past the pubs.  If they don't want to be part of the solution, then they can just sit on the side lines and whine like they always do.  Maybe some of those midnight sessions like the pubs do to get stuff passed is in order.

Ask Obama today - quickly
Want the president's ear?  Go go whitehouse.gov quickly and ask a question for the town hall meeting for today.  Only two hours left for questions.
You're right - the US is quickly turning into a total

Oh, and Obama had better get on Welfare reform QUICKLY before it is a run-away train, or did the tra
already leave the station. Extension of unemployment benefits, GREAT, because in this economy it takes so much more time to find a worthwhile job. Extension of COBRA is great. But the free ride that many dishonest and lazy Americans have enjoyed for generations should be put to an abrupt END. Sorry, I see it every day. Hire enough trained, educated case workers, get them out in the field investigating these fraudulant claims, and give the truly deserving and huring population the funds they need to get back on track, as they want to, and push the lazy and indigent to get productive for our country.

I also love the money going directly to the SBA (Small Business Administration), so many of us are fed up and would probably do better working with the SBA to secure low-interest, easy term loans, employ ourselves, employ others, get the taxes rolling, and be part of the solution. Okay safely off soap box for now!
I like #5. I have heard another survivor trait is the ability to quickly adapt. nm

Oh...and I believe everything Dodd says. LOL
nm
I heard it was Dodd who

slipped that in as well.  Not a big shock since he was the highest recipient of contributions from AIG.  He slipped that in and things were passed so fast that no one could catch it and now everyone is crying outrage.  I'm sure Obama is glad this was snuck in so he could repay AIG back for his second highest contributions...right under Dodd.  Jerks!

They should have let AIG fall.  I'm so sick and tired of bailing out companies.  We need to start letting them file bankruptcy and restructure.  Maybe then....they will start handling their money better.  While government keeps bailing them out, they aren't going to change their ways.  They are just going to keep asking for government handouts while the big execs get rich.

Dodd claims he did not put that in there -
at least, I read that he said the date he had included was changed so that those bonuses would still be paid. He said his date would not have allowed those bonuses to be paid. ???
Dodd retracting
Now Dodd is saying he did put it in there but Treasury "made" him...we gotta get this guy out of here...
Crap. Dodd is staying on?

Frank/O'Reilly

I was cheering that Bill is BACK!  I've been fit to be tied over his lingering lethargy for the last period of months, and have written to complain, too.

There's a lot more on the web about Barney Frank and how filthy he is (in more ways than 1) this whole thing.  He should've been put in jail along with Chris Dodd and Palsen, etc.  Barney Frank's former lover worked for this outfit before they split many years ago.  I've read so much on it that I don't recall which place I read it, but obviously you won't find any of this investigative stuff on the driveby channels.  Even FNC doesn't put some stuff out there, which ticks me off.  But I find it, anyway between the conservative blogs, sites, talk radio, etc.  And these sources can be easily checked, so the libs can throw all the hissy fits they want.  If they honestly think it's okay to give literally ANY party a free pass just b/c it has your letter or preference behind it, that's just nuts!  I'm dying to clean out the RINOs in "my" party.  They don't belong there.

Why should Obama apologize for Franks or Dodd? He is not...sm
their keeper. John Glenn and John McCain did not receive a formal reprimand but were judged to have "poor judgement" with their naive support quashing an investigation of the doings of Charles Keating in the 1980's whose financial doings eventually caused the savings and loan crisis just 2 years later. $180 billion that time, probably more with inflation than now. Bill Clinton dug us out of that hole, and here we are again.
Uh Barney Fife was on Mayberry RFD
Are you speaking of Barney Frank? The Congressman from Massachussetts?

Just because it has been going on by both parties does not make it okay.
Oh, I agree completely.....just mentioning Barney
None of them should be "fixing" anything....they created the mess and I sure as heck don't trust them to fix it. Since when has the government fixed anything?

There should be outside auditors come in, chosen by private citizens, NOT the government, not the politicians' friends or family members, but private CPAs to oversee this.

The government should not be taking any of our money. I say let the chips fall where they may and all this fear Bush and everyone else tries to place in the minds of the people is just that....talk. Give it a year or so and it will right itself automatically and purge itself of the crooks.

If you think for a minute the world economy will fall because of it, that's the fear they're hoping to put in your head to make you think this is the only choice left OR ELSE!!

Other countries have firm good banks and will continue their business as usual, as will solid banks in this country.

My gosh, just today the Bank of Scotland is now putting out ads for your banking needs. It's an investment opportunity for many.

Wonderful. Bernanke, Pelosi, and now Barney Fife want

another stimulus package.  "Stimulus should exceed 1% of the GDP."

He also says banks should be encouraged to write down mortgages. As for the $700B package, they got a terrible job loss number the same day and that it should soon start working. This fund would start buying into the banks soon. He was very upset that the first $250B was given away and $125B went into buying large banks and $125B went into buying into small banks.

Keynesianism??? What's that? Sounds like a new language to me. It's one of the words he uses.

I certainly don't think there should be another stimulus package. The first one didn't work. How can the second one be any better?

If you go there, please include Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Obama, McCain....the list goes
You can't be selective. If you insist on putting blame for the current situation our country is in, you must put the blame on each and every person that was a part of it.

To a great extent, it is Frank's fault, previous poster correct.
Barney Frank and the rest of the democrats in charge of Congress now, will be laughing at you, too....at all of us.
Chris was excellent

pinned him to the wall like a bug (no offense to bugs out there).  Intersting also that he mentioned McCain's former policy chief (or something) Tori Clark wrote a book with the name.  I love to see the hyocrites squirm. it sends a thrill up my leg.

Chris is on the way to a meltdown
Not only was he rude but he's getting worse and worse as the democrats ratings keep dropping. Talk about a pit bull (without lipstick). He's attacking his guests not giving them a chance to answer the questions. That's not "pinning someone to the wall like a bug". That's just rude. He should ask the guest a question, let him answer, and then respond to his answer. To badger and not let your guest answer a question you ask while giving free reighn (sp?) to the democratic guest is just pure horse hockey. After today I no longer watch his show. I want some truth and clear cut answers and I believe every guest should be allowed to answer a question in full without the host bullying him (which by the way I do not believe Obama called Sarah a pig). Still is no excuse for Mathews to act like that. He's supposed to be a host and treat both sides fairly. That he does not do. He did this to other guests and luckily they said to him let me answer your question. MSNBCs ratings are going down the tube and they just lost one more viewer.

Chris Mathews

to run for office?  Old rumor, but if true I am delighted.  We are once again attracting decent, intelligent individuals with true patriotism for government service.  Obama's positive impact on our nation just keeps going and going . . .

why is Chris Mathews

labeled combative.  He has an opinion show.  When he asks a question and the guest regurgitates a talking point or avoids answering the question, Mathews holds his/her feet to the fire.  Remember what the press is for?  Finding the truth?

Chris Matthews is a liberal. sm
Ronald Reagan was in the service.  So what if he wasn't in combat.  He enlisted during wartime. I commend him for that.  You might want to look at the ages of the people you are talking about, as well.  Some of them, MANY of them, were of service age in non wartime.  Bob Dole was horribly wounded in WW II. He's not on the list. You only put the Democrats who served and the Republicans who didn't.  Why did you do that?  You are right. It is of no significance.  By your reasoning, only those who have had an abortion could have an opinon about it.  Ridiculous.
Chris Wallace works for

Fox News which is a republican propaganda outlet.  An actual journalist was chosen. The Fox get it turn next week which only zealots will watch.
