I haven't read your article.......... sm
but I will get around to it later.

Right now, I just wanted to comment that you raised some points that I do agree with.  I do respect that OFFICE of the POTUS.  It is the highest office in the land and anyone who fills it, Obama or McCain, Dem or Pub, should have to earn the respect that goes along with the office.  There is a difference between respecting  the office and respecting the man.

With that said, however, there are a great number of things that I admire........ Yes, I said it..... About Barack Obama.  He is very  intelligent and surrounds himself with people of the same caliber.  He is an eloquent speaker but God help his speech writers when he goes off script like he did in addressing is Civil National Security System.  He has a sophisticated aire about him that, I believe, is a large part of his mesmerizing charm on his constituents.  He has a lovely family and is apparently very proud of them, as he should be.

So see, I'm not an Obama hater. I just don't think that he has the experience needed to fulfill the demands of the POTUS.
Talk is not negotiate. Still haven't read ANYTHING
It has been laid out in excruciating detail on his website under foreign policy, diplomacy, policy on Iran and under other links. In a nutshell, he would stop bucking UN and NATO like Bush has done and cultivate a working partnership. Like abortion, he has a number of inspired terrorism prevention initiatives, not confined to Iran (there are other terrorists out there, remember?). His approach to Iran is to offer a fresh approach to DIALOGUE, not negotiations. His understanding of and insight into Islamic principles should come in handy in his attempts to forge at least a foundation of diplomatic exchange, whether it be direct or through third parties (they are called allies), which would include some preconditions as the talks progress. If Ahmadinejad is not receptive, he has his Plan B well thought out. That would involve engaging (here comes that pesky word again) allies in measures that would isolate Iran's leadership without punishing its population. If you read the plans, you will find much more on this. Beyond that, no more soup for you on this issue. Read the plan before you bash.
Plus, haven't you read that Obama hypnotized all of us?
According to the reports I read, he has us all hypnotized and we cannot help but vote for him that day even if we don't want to because he planted some suggestion in our minds! LOL!
And have you read the Republican/right-wing posts?

and that should have read "NO MORE than being a Republican means," I am typing terrible, migra

"The First thing I will do as president is sign the FOCA" sm

The Audacity of FOCA

BY The Editors

As the election quickly approaches, the U.S. bishops are shining a harsh spotlight on one bill: the Freedom of Choice Act, commonly called FOCA. FOCA is again before Congress; its chief sponsor in the Senate is Barbara Boxer and one of its co-sponsors is presidential candidate Barack Obama.

In July 2007, Obama told a Planned Parenthood audience: “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act.” Search YouTube.com for the words “Obama” and “FOCA” to hear it for yourself. Since Obama has said that signing FOCA into law would be his first priority as a new president, summarizing the bill answers the question: For what change does Barack Obama have the audacity to hope?

The U.S. bishops’ summary of FOCA points out:

• It creates a “fundamental right” to abortion throughout the nine months of pregnancy. No governmental body at any level would be able to “deny or interfere with” this right, or to “discriminate” against the exercise of this right “in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information.” For the first time, abortion would become an entitlement the government must condone and promote.

• Some states require that women be told about the risks of abortion. FOCA would erase all informed-consent laws states have enacted.

• Many states require that parents be informed and sign off on their daughters’ abortions, just as they are informed and involved in every other surgical procedure. FOCA would override and end all parental-involvement laws.

• Some states have laws promoting maternal health. Obama’s FOCA wouldn’t allow them.

• Regulation on abortion “clinics” helps keep these businesses responding to health and safety concerns. FOCA would end these regulations.

• FOCA would disallow “government programs and facilities that pay for or promote childbirth and other health care without subsidizing abortion,” say the U.S. bishops.

• Conscience-protection laws would end. These currently allow Catholic and other pro-life hospitals, doctors, medical students and health-care workers to opt out of participating in abortion in many places.

• After FOCA, any laws that prohibit a particular abortion procedure, such as partial-birth abortion, will no longer be in force.

• FOCA would also strike laws requiring that abortions only be performed by a licensed physician.

For a careful legal analysis of FOCA by the U.S. bishops’ Office of General Counsel, or a summary fact sheet to distribute, see NCHLA.org.

In a Sept. 19 letter to members of Congress, Cardinal Justin Rigali, chairman of the bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, raised the bishops’ concerns about any possible consideration of FOCA.

Despite its deceptive title, FOCA would deprive the American people in all 50 states of the freedom they now have to enact modest restraints and regulations on the abortion industry,” wrote Cardinal Rigali. It would also “counteract any and all sincere efforts by government to reduce abortions in our country.”

Obama cannot single-handedly enact FOCA.
No one can predict what will happen to the language of that bill throughout that process. Obama has merely indicated that he will not impede or veto it, but rather will sign it, which is as it should be once it makes it through the House and Senate. That's the way democracy works, is it not?
The Anti-Republican Republican Who is Really a Republican
The whole anti-Republican Republican ruse might have succeeded, were it not for the fact that McCain's rhetoric was at odds not merely with his own voting record - 90 percent with Bush - and his own Bush-on-steroids agenda.

Even as he was pledging to "change the way government does almost everything," the senator from Arizona announced his commitment to much, much more of the same.

He pledged to maintain endless occupations of distant lands that empty the U.S. Treasury of precious resources that might pay for infrastructue renewal, housing and job creations initiatives for hurting Americans.

He outlined trade and tax policies that would extend, rather than alter a failed economic status quo.

He reintroduced flawed proposals for health care, education and entitlement reforms that Americans have wisely rejected.

And he threatened to achieve "energy independence" by declaring:

    "We will drill..."

    "We'll drill..."

    "More drilling..."

McCain's rhetoric was that of a liberated man declaring his independence from his party's failed president and corrupt Congresses.

But his platform was that of Republican candidate who, for all of his talk of reform, offers the crudest continuity to a country that is crying out for change.

You lie and twist the truth.

If you check the archives you will see multiple requests to folks to stick to their own boards.  I have no reason to lie about this but apparently you do.  And it is so very easily verified.  My advice to you is that if you continue to lie to not pick such obvious lies to tell.

As far as the other board, it seemed the liberals stayed off it for a while and there is still very little liberal activity on it.  Check it out.

You sure know how to twist things up...sm
I know you are confused on the definition of patriot and freedom. An antisemite is someone who hates jews. This would not be me. What was antisemitic about any comment I made? Israel should not have a blank check to do whatever it pleases and be free of criticism.
Interesting twist
I heard on Face the Nation today that Chuck Hagel and Mayor Bloomberg were considering running together, perhaps on an independent ticket; did not indicate who would fill the top spot. Nebraska and New York, velly velly interesting. I personally would LOVE to see a viable third party. The same old same old has not been working well for quite some time; ergo, Obama's popularity. Even tho Bloomberg and Hagel are not new commodities, running as a third party ticket would certainly be different (one can only hope).
Like I said, no matter how you try to twist it,
xx
People twist

Twist words much
The school closing was because of the ice on the roads (a wise safety precaution) not because of he cold temperatures. No one was complaining. Rather, he was having a casual conversation about how his daughters were adjusting to their move (they are allowed to have their own perceptions, aren't they?). No scandal there so I guess you felt compelled to introduce tardy to his list of mortal sins. Contradictory? Hardly. He's been right on his same message ever since the first hour of the primaries. No surprises to those who have been paying attention.

My twist on your situation
I was a democrat who became a republican and will probably reaffiliate as an independent in the not-too-distant future. I find the assumptions made on this board amusing and likely as not completely off base.

I think Obama is a likeable guy, but his starry-eyed supporters drive me up a wall. If not for the lunacy surrounding him and his office I probably wouldn't feel as apprehensive and insecure about his presidency as I do. Okay, I don't agree with him on much so far, but I so believe he's intelligent and sincere.

Try not to take the categorizing too seriously; it's just more silliness.
LOL...I didn't twist anything...(sm)
That's Fox's shining star with the gas can.  He did that with no help whatsoever from me.  That's your hero...not mine.
Another twist/question...(sm)
Since Israel was poised before the election to sling some rockets towards Iran, do you think they'll be butting in, and do you think Obama can hold them back?
I said that was one reason. Don't twist my words. sm
Typical liberal ploy.  I can't believe how ignorant of history you are!
No, and please don't twist my words. The conversation is sm
that Hitler founded his total belief system on the three pillars I posted here, the first being Jews and Communism.  I don't know how much more clear I can be frankly!   Where in the world did I EVER say he was sane.   I am talking about HISTORY.  I am not quite sure what you are talking about!
Why is it that you always find a way to twist things...sm
to your advantage? We went from Michelle Obama's thesis to Rev. Wright. Of course he is a racist. Has anyone here said he isn't?
No they were not....don't twist what little facts that were in those links..nm

Twist away, the truth is out there. Sam's right. You're wrong. nm

You shouldn't twist people's words.

Don't you just hate the way they twist facts - see message
To hear them talk they act as thought every single soul in America voted for Obama. They did not. More people didn't vote than those who did. The ones who are so adamanet and hostile are the ones who drink the kool-aid.

I do feel better about the whole thing as time goes on because I'm hearing Rap singers and other people of color, and even a lot of democrats standing up saying what in the world??? Many are questioning the decisions and what is going on. But all I say is if it keeps going the way it is 2012 is going to be a very good year for republicans. Probably even 2010 when the next election of senators and congress people are voted in/out.

There are a few people I am hopeful for to run. I think American will also wake up and say, this is why you don't vote someone in with no experience.
Really? Yeah, try to twist common sense into
nm
You related to Michael Moore? You twist
nm
McCain's theme song - Twist and Shout.
Biden's point was that whomever is elected President will be tested, and he feels that Obama is more qualified to deal with it than McCain. Once again, the McCain camp has twisted Biden's words to suit their own agenda.
Careful! Some neocon troll might twist your post into a threat!!!

This looks interesting. A long read, so will read it when I get home from work. nm
nm
Obviously u didnt read, I said NONE of them are moral. Read the post before spouting off.

How do you know they haven't?

That's the whole point.  Bush acts like a dictator in complete privacy.  Of course nobody can name names because this president thinks he can spy on whoever he wants without ever telling the person.

The sooner they impeach him, the safer this country will be.

No I haven't
but I'll try to remember to check it out.

At church last week our preacher had just gotten up to preach and he had just told us to turn to a Bible verse. So we all looked down to turn to the verse and when we looked up he was gone. Apparently he had stepped through the side door to go get a drink of water. Of course he came back out two minutes later, but someone made the joke that the rapture had come and he was the only one taken. It was pretty funny. Of course if it had really happened we'd have all of been with him (well hopefully, as I'm sure you know there are people in church who aren't really Christians!)
No, I haven't but
I'm seriously considering it...on a local level, of course, where I'm qualified.  If I were younger............
I haven't seen that but I have seen others
There are just some very strange people in this country who think nothing of putting themselves on youtube giving their opinions (no matter what the subject). In today's world I would never ever put my face out for all to see stating my opinion. On this board is one thing (and even then I'm always concerned about what I post and who is watching it), but sometimes it's best to keep ones feelings to oneselves, especially if it is negative. The thought police are out there and you just never know what will come back at you for the worst.
I haven't seen her lately
When the election was going on (still when Hillary was running against Obama) and even shortly after the primaries ended I really enjoyed her. I thought she was level headed and brought out some good discussions and issues, but then towards the end of the election (maybe a couple weeks before 11/4) I found her starting to become opinionated and she jumped down someones throat about something that I thought she was clearly wrong on. She just became irritating and got under my skin a bit. I also really used to like Keith Olberman, but his coverage of the election was so unfair and between Keith and Rachel I just found them opinionated and not reporting facts and stuff so I kind of lost interest. Maybe I should try watching them again. It's funny about Hannity and Colmes. I cannot stand Hannity. He's just too uppity and goody two shoes and even D Morris would tell him stop focusing on certain issues and report on the other important ones and he doesn't listen. He annoys the you know what out of me. But Colmes...this guy is a crack up. I used to not be able to stand him. Now I enjoy listening to him. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I'll listen. I can take him a lot more than the others because he doesn't gloat about the O winning whereas the others do.

So I'll have to catch her show again and see if she's gotten better. Thanks for reminding me about her.

I'll tell you...if Bush is able to pardon himself....I think there is going to be a huge uproar. Mind as well just let the criminals decide what punishment they should get.
I haven't seen that.........sm
and don't know when it was made, but you can bet your bottom dollar that at the time it was made, that statement was probably meant to be comic relief.  The average US citizen would have laughed at such a statement prior to this presidential election.
sorry, no they haven't......
There is tons of pork barrel in that package. Even the moderate democrats are sickened by all the crap in there and refuse to pass it. Obama must have forgotten the part where he said absolutely no pork barrel spending! Yea, right!
I haven't seen any
poll takers out asking mainstream America their opinion, only the fabricating media and perverted judges telling us how wonderful homosexuality is. The rest of America finds the act of homosexuality deplorable. ;-)
Really? You haven't?

Just to take the first point:  How about a speech he gave in 2008 which he criticized the US because most of us speak one measly language, while Europeans often speak 2 or 3?  There is actually a pretty good reason for that, by the way.  A person could drive in Europe a distance equal to the trip from Cincinnati to Chicago and pass through several countries.  Some countries even have several dialects. Many European countries are tiny.  Being multilingual in Europe is very practical.  America is huge and people a couple of thousand miles away can understand one another in a single language, from youse guys to y'all.

I don't remember ever hearing a US president or presidential candidate publicly criticize his country the way this one has (well, maybe Kerry).  And of course our foreign critics simply lap it up.  I think Michelle Obama has some foreign language skills, but I've got to wonder in what second and third languages Barack himself is fluent.  Surely he must be.....

I was unable to find the full text/location/date of the speech I am referring to, but here's a link to an article on it.  Sorry, it does seem to be an piece that is overall critical of the great man, but then the mainstream would probably not have mentioned this at all

http://www.libertylounge.net/forums/32918-obama-again-shows-how-out-touch.html

Oh, by the way, no spam file, I wrote it.  Whether or not you find it witty, it's the way I view O's public criticism of the US, as though we are a collection of bumpkins he's stuck with and trying desperately to fix up.

Hey! Haven't seen you in a while...nm
x
What makes you think they haven't.
/
I haven't been here that long but
long enough to see clearly how immaturely they operate.  PHEW!
Then you haven't been listening.

I have seen at least four conservatives express concerns about Bush on several occasions, and they even elucidated them. Of course, you would have to take off those blinders to see them but you aren't about to do that.  What a joke.  As far as your remarks about racisms, I consider your remarks extremely racist.  And never mind the fact that black Americans, one of whom was quoted here, are also defending Bennett.  Their voices don't count because they must be Uncle Tom's, right.  AGAIN, a racist way of thinking.

You are so right. I haven't posted here
for this very reason. Certain posters (you know who you are) will come here to bash posts even when they are addressed to liberals. Apparently it doesn't matter to them that the moderator has repeatedly asked them not to do so and they can't seem to resist the urge to come over to this board when, in fact, they have their own. They've done it to me, they've done it to PK and others. Good luck to you...it's too bad, 'cause they ruin the discussion for everyone else and it gets to the point where it just isn't worth it.
obviously you haven't seen Sicko
good god i wish we had it like France. Not sure what Canadians you are talking to but the ones i've seen are afraid to come to the US because of our health care system, "what if" an accident occurs in the US? and just maybe we DO need a waiting period for certain things. I know plenty of people that run to the doctor for every little thing. Maybe if they give their bodies a chance to heal itself instead of expecting to get antibiotics every time we might have less cases of MRSA. it's what drives up the cost of insurance and health care in general
At least we haven't been attacked
again on our soil....if tricky Billy Clinton did HIS job while in office, Bin Laden would have been taken care of and 9/11 would have never happened.  Happy anniversary to you.  Bush is far from perfect but we have been safe at home.
haven't roosted yet

but baby there will be a big, big party in Jan when they do!

I would venture to say, you haven't; you just
wanted to stop searching because it was leading to too many things that didn't look good for Obama.

yeah i haven't either
a friend of mine was called, they were trying to persuade her to vote for obama. Apparently they got an earful. LOL....

PS... My family is voting for McCain too...
