Certainly abortion is not an issue that is going to be settled here, but to lump all Republicans and Christians together claiming they want no sex ed and no birth control makes yours about the MOST narrow-minded opinion I've seen yet.
Abortion is a very personal issue and ultimately will remain to be up to the woman involved. My great-grandmother, who was having children around 1895-1905 used to say "Better ten on your lap than one on your conscience." Women even then did things to prevent having more children and thankfully, we have a lot better alternatives now than we had then.

Bush just locked people up period. He flushed habeas corpus. He could care less about the families of these attacks. He had agendas to fulfill. Of course Obama said he was going to close Gitmo and a good thing, too. This war in Iraq, derailed from Afghanistan, bred more terrorists than anyone can imagine. Bush set the middle east on fire. Not Obama. But Obama gets to clean it up. You really don't know who you are dealing with here, do you? Bush was "The Decider." And a lot of good that got us. Let's see what Obama does. He may be "The Doer." You just don't know, do you? Nobody does. I think he's a lot smarter than you could possibly imagine. I suppose he could let those prisoners squat in Gitmo for his entire term and let someone else deal with it. How long do you think these guys will last in one of our federal prisons? As Bank of America acquires Merrill-Lynch (whose CEO has the utter gall to request a $10 million bonus pay-out after the ML sell-out) they are refusing credit to Republic Windows and Doors out of Chicago after receiving $15 billion in TARP funds. The workers are fighting back to recover the pay and benefits they have already earned and their governor is backing them up. Now that's what I'm talkin' about !

Back in Colonial America, there were the Federalists versus the Rebublican-Democrats, which turned into the "party" system we now have (love your comment about "party!"), big business and big money will always be in bed with the politicians, and that will keep propagating and feeding this political mess, but I have to think if the Libertarian or Independent parties were to have a strong enough candidate with a really well-crafted, timely, imperative platform, we could all vote with our pockets, one voter at at time, to strengthen a three or four-party system over time?
