President Obama=bigger taxes, bigger government, and a profound change in society and culture

Why does the Government have to create Laws to make people Volunteer?...

http://therealbarackobama.wordpress.com/2009/03/15/meet-the-compulsive-service-orwellian-give-act-to-be-voted-on-this-week/

Next up on the agenda this week is the GIVE Act, short for the “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act”.

The ABC News headline ‘GIVE’ Act Would Give Back. Volunteer Programs Would Provide Jobs to Unemployed, Assist Those in Need says it all.

In his address to Congress last month, President Barack Obama called on lawmakers to expand federally funded national service opportunities.

“To encourage a renewed spirit of national service for this and future generations, I ask this Congress to send me the bipartisan legislation that bears the name of Sen. Orrin Hatch as well as an American who has never stopped asking what he can do for his country — Sen. Edward Kennedy,” the president said.

Democrats say they may be able to respond to that call by the end of this month.

The Senate is working on the Kennedy/Hatch Serve America Act of 2008, and the House is working on a similar bill, called the Generations Invigorating Volunteering and Education (GIVE) Act.

Not in this country! It means bigger government, more
You want free thinking, you must mean "independent", as if independent thinker, thinking for yourself, not told how to think!

And making BIGGER government isn't a dictator?
!!
I just heard billions of dollars in bigger government...
xx
And George supported bigger profits for bigger business and richer people, that was soooo much bette
nm
Yep. That sliding board keeps getting bigger and bigger

After watching the mayor of Phila. go to Washington today to beg for a few BILLION to bail that cityout, what's next?

Her lies keep getting bigger and bigger
Everytime she speaks all I can hear playing in the mind is a song from the 1970s by Three Dog Night called "Liar". She should be put on the spot and made to face her lies. This baloney about her remembering it differently is just a bunch of hooey!
create another board
You know, what this bulletin *system* needs is a bashing board.  I used to post at a relatively calm board and some wanted to pick fights no matter what..The owner in her wisdom created a bashing board where those who have anger, upset, whatever and wanted to bash could and could also leave those other boards alone which did not want turmoil. Maybe the owners here could do that. I dont know who owns this board.  I have been told it no longer is owned by the owner of MTstars..Maybe if the owner reads this, he or she will create another board for **Political wars**..
Please tell me, what did the "libs" create. sm
We have had a republican president for 8 years and a republican congress for 6 of those years, and 2 just barely on the dem side. When Bill Clinton's presidency was over, we had a multimillion dollar surplus and low unemployment; however, the republicans thought it was more important to impeach him for "sex crimes". Just think of all the good he could have done if time was not wasted in defending himself, not to mention all our tax dollars that were spent. Hello? Their marriage has obviously survived and it is no ones business but theirs.

You are trying to create something that did not happen
His picture is colored in on the coins. You sure did misinterpret what she said and you turned it into a racial thing. This is not racial. These coins are colored/painted in and they are CHEAP!!!! Maybe you should take a look at them and you will see what she means. Your trying to make it a racial thing where there is no racial tendencies in her message.

I think you're the one who is bigoted, prejudice, etc. Give the race relations a break. There is no room for your kind of behavior on this board. Period!
You know if they want to create jobs

why aren't we drilling for oil?  Why aren't we getting wind farms going?  If our government would take more money to look into alternative fuels, not only would that stop our dependency on foreign oil but we will need workers to maintain those things, etc.  Those will be jobs that will last.  It won't be like construction work like Obama wants.  Once the roads are repaired and bridges fixed, etc....then what?  I just think we are going in the wrong direction and I just don't understand why.  We need to tap our resources with offshore drilling.  We need to drill Alaska.  While we are doing that, we need to look for alternatives to oil.  The sooner they do that, the sooner car companies can make environmentally safer cars and vehicles.  I mean....come on.

The money is certainly not going to create jobs
This will not create jobs for anyone.

Obama didn't create this mess
I am amazed at the criticism directed at Obama regarding the current economic crisis.
1. Did he run up our huge debt with China?
2. Who blew billions on Wall Street without any oversight - Bush/Paulson - ring a bell?
3. Who gave us the stimulus checks last year that the government couldn't really afford to give?
4. Who got us into a $10 billion a month Iraq war when our allies and the UN Security Council could see that the "evidence" was total b.s.? Wasn't it McCain who said we would keep at it 100 years? How much has that and would that fiasco cost us?

I speak as a former Republican/turned independent. Both parties have sold us down the river to appeal to the interests of big multinationals interested in "free trade". How could we possibly hope to keep our economy healthy by allowing trade with people making pennies an hour? Our own profession is a microcosm of the maladies caused by the "global economy". We make far less and work much harder - finding it difficult to pay bills. It had to crash sometime.

I agree with you that this stimulus package will probably not do the trick, but to blame Obama for it is ridiculous. It would be the equivalent of having been sent in a barrel over the side of Niagara Falls, and halfway down Obama tries to figure out a way to soften the landing. He didn't put us in the situation - and maybe he can't get us out.

One thing is certain - McCain could not have done better. He would have kept us bleeding billions in Iraq that we simply do not have.

We are likely going to see runaway inflation. The government is committing itself to compounding the effects of the disaster - starting with Bush allowing Paulson to throw billions to his Wall Street buddies and the continuing effort to stave off the inevitable crash of our economy. The only way they can afford these megabillion plans is to print more money - and the money will become worth a lot less. Get ready for a $100 loaf of bread.

It would just create a huge black market, and

Bush didn't create the federal reserve......

Obama to create Iran outreach post...
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/dec/19/obama-will-create-iran-outreach-position/
Yup, they actually admitted that if the "outrage and publicity" they create gets their message
I agree with their founding sentiments, but sickening sensationalism is a turn-off to me, it seems like fanaticism, and I have a beautiful daughter, I find it all so offensive. Also, I do not want my two sons ever to objectify women like that in their minds, sooooo sick! PETA cares for physical health with vegetarianism, but what about mental health with healthy body image, healthy relationships, and healthy respect in life, not important?
It took only 2 years to create this mess? You missed your meds.

Kissinger: Obama's 'task' is to help create a 'new world order'

"New World Order," the phrase previously attributed to "whacky conspiracy theorists," is now being PUBLICLY advocated by this senile old man.  I hope Obama is too smart and too reasonable for this "NWO" stuff because this is one of the reasons I voted for him.

Kissinger: Obama's 'task' is to help create a 'new world order'

RAW STORY
Published: Tuesday January 6, 2009

President Nixon's Secretary of State, the aging Henry Kissinger, recently told CNBC that he believes the current world economic crisis is a "great opportunity" for President-elect Obama to help create a "new world order."

"What do you think the most important thing is for Barack Obama?" Kissinger was asked. "... If you had to say, this is going to be the country, or the conflict, or the place that will define the Obama administration, what would it be?"

Kissinger replied: "The President-elect is coming into office at a moment when there are upheavals in many part of the world simultaneously. You have India-Pakistan. You have, ah, a jihadist movement."

"But," continued Kissinger, "he can give new imputus to American foreign policy, partly because the ascension of him is so extraordinary and admirable.

"I think that his task will be to develop an overall strategy for America in this period, when really a "New World Order" can be created. It's a great opportunity. It isn't such a crisis."

In response to a parting question, Kissinger added that Obama's cabinet is an "extraordinarily able group of people."

"The phrase 'new world order' traces back at least as far as 1940, when author H.G. Wells used it as the title of a book about a socialist, unified, one-world government," writes Drew Zahn. "The phrase has also been linked to American presidents, including Woodrow Wilson, whose work on establishing the League of Nations pioneered the concept of international government bodies, and to the first President Bush, who used the phrase in a 1989 speech."

In that 1989 speech, the elder Bush told Congress, "A new partnership of nations has begun, and we stand today at a unique and extraordinary moment. Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective –– a new world order –– can emerge: A new era …… in which the nations of the world, east and west, north and south, can prosper and live in harmony."

It is a quote echoed across the Internet by those who believe a non-elected governing body is forming at the very top of the world's elite, and spreading.

Kissinger previously spoke at some length about this "new world order" during an interview with Charlie Rose.

"I think that when the new administration assess the position in which it finds itself it will see a huge crisis and terrible problems, but I can see that it could see a glimmer in which it could construct an international system out of it," Kissinger told Rose in a Dec. 2008 conversation.

"The jihadist crisis is bringing it home to everybody, that international affairs cannot be conducted entirely by drawing borders and defining international politics by who crosses what borders with organized military force," he said. "This has now been reinforced by the financial crisis, which totally unexpectedly has spread around the world. It limits the resources that each country has for a foreign policy geared to an assertion of its own pure interests."

Kissinger publicly supported McCain for President in 2008.

The following video was aired on CNBC on Jan. 5, 2009.

Even bigger than this?

The American left is dancing on the graves of the New Orleans dead

Posted By: vs on 2005-09-09,

A radio talk show host just said that...and I agree. This is the big story the left was looking for to TRY and nail Bush. Well, I hope they can live with their collective conscience that is if they even have one. I'm starting to believe they don't.

Even bigger WOW!!!! sm
I so agree with you on this! Shocker, huh? LOL

There are so many different systems in place right now that it is ridiculous. In my precinct, we still use the old pen and paper method which, though it probably has its flaws as well (stray pen marks, crumpled ballots, etc.), is definitely an easier system to navigate for voters, especially elderly voters who don't know how to use the more sophisticated systems. I have read and heard of numerous instances in which elderly voters have to be helped to use the machine systems. Everybody knows how to use a pen and paper....whether they use it intelligently or not is a whole 'nuther matter for debate. ;O)

I also think that a standardized method would speed up the process of counting votes and minimize the possibility of error....stray pen marks, hanging chads, etc.

The picture is even bigger than you think.

More smoke and mirrors from Bush.

This is bigger than politics....sm
A friend of mines posted this on another site and wants me to share the word. Her husband is on assignment in Iraq now.

As you all probably know I am a very proud wife of a Military Soldier. It is an honor, privelege and the toughest duty anyone woman can have. At times my fears get the best of me. And although I cannot imagine my life without my husband, I am in a marriage where his life is on the line daily and I have to remain strong not only for myself but for our 4 sons. This is going to really hit you emotionally and some of you may not even get through however you will see the purpose at the end. I live each day like its my last and this is the reason why.

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together. After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

No, he responded.

Heading out I asked?

No. I'm escorting a soldier home.

Going to pick him up?

No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq ..

I'm taking him home to his family.

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many co nversations in so few days. I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.

Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign.

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.

So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and
Women for what you do so we can live the way we do .

Red Fridays.

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the silent majority. We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends,
simply want to recognize that the vast majority of
Americasupports our troops. Our idea of showing
solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that ... every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United Stateson every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once silent majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked What can we do to make things better for you? is ..We need your support and your prayers. Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday.

WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE!!
You really need to look at the bigger picture
Of course you care about your interest rate on your home, but neither candidate is going to 'solve' this horrific crisis, because there is no ONE reason for it! It is very complicated but as Americans, its our responsibility to TRY to understand it better so that we can demand the right course of actioN from ALL parties involved.

ONE FACT: When wages are stagnant an economy cannot grow - and that DEFINITELY is playing into what is happening in the financial crisis. Ask yourself which candidate is for INCREASING wages and fighting for equal pay for women and men...

Don't depend on SAM or anyone else to help you decide, use the power of the internet to educate yourself.

IF you like war and bleeding the treasury to ensure we have more of it, and more enemies to boot, then McCain is your man.

Im not enamoured of Obama either, so I'm not selling him to you either. That said, he ALWAYS opposed Bush's fake war - which has cost us HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS. Gee, where could we have put that $ to better use? Remember IRAQ did not attack us in 2001; the majority of attackers came from SAUDI ARABIA.

Why? Because they demanded we remove our military bases from their lands and we did not comply. After they attacked us, we attacked Iraq and guess what? WE MOVED THE MILITARY BASES TO IRAQ to appease Saudi Arabia.

Think this has nothing to do with you getting a good rate on your new home?

THINK AGAIN. As long as Americans choose their leaders based on cute lines in debates, we are destined to be robbed again and again and again.

You must look at WHAT THEY WILL DELIVER based on their past record. MCCain will give you more of the last 8 years.

But again, that's my opinion. Please care enough to do your own research, which you will believe more than anything a stranger tells you anyway.

We are in bigger trouble than we know

It may just be way too late for Obama to get us out of the horrible mess we are in. We are fiddling while Rome burns - I sound like Chicken Little but indeed the sky IS falling - Frightening!

...."If we can use the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) as a guide for the next 12 months of product delivery and food availability in the stores we shop in then the BDI says shelves will be virtually empty of almost every product we use each and every day. Is the BDI is wrong it will be an historic first. The BDI is used by bankers, financial experts, brokers, traders and everyone in high end finance to assess the global financial condition and the availability of products worldwide. The BDI has dropped 94% in a short few weeks which means raw materials, grains, ores, steel, iron, cement and all imported products for food manufacturing and product manufacturing even though we actually do very little of that here in the US."

Here is the bigger problem
O says he is going to be transparent and "change" how things are done.  Haven't heard ONE thing about where that money went.  They aren't doing anything about it.  That is an even bigger problem because we have four long years ahead of us still to come.
You probably need to get a bigger teleprompter as I see
you are all stumbling in your reply here.  Duh?
His plans are just that....plans.
Besides, I don't think he can actually even try to do any of his plans with the way things are now.  The economy just won't allow it.  We can't afford any government programs or universal health care.  The USA has no money.  Even if he just taxed the rich more, which I doubt it will just limited to the rich, that still wouldn't be enough money to pay for these government programs.  It won't happen....it can't and if it does, we will all pay for it because all taxes will go up.
Bush is by far a bigger embarrassment than

All Clinton should have said was "No comment" in regard to the whole Monika disaster.  He should not have lied, but I really don't think it was any of our business what he did behind closed doors sexually, so I think he should not have commented at all.  Bush's string of ignorant comments and actions are far more embarrassing/damaging to this country than anything Clinton did or said.  I die a little inside each time I see President Bush on TV or read about another dumb thing he said.  It bothers me so much!!!  He makes us all look bad, and he is soooo cocky.  Disgusting. (btw, I'm not voting for Hilary.  Just wanted to point out why I think Bush is a much greater embarrassment than the Clintons!)

Cheaper plans -- $107 to $220
There are cheaper plans for the child, just checked and they range from 107 with 1000 deductible up to 220 for HMO.  I had to go without health insurance for a long while after getting divorced and getting my life back together, did not ask the government to come in and save me and at an older age, have a lot more chance of medical problems than young kids.  When I was a kid there was no health insurance, hardly went to the doctor.  I just feel that middle income people (over 80,000) can afford to support their kids with insurance.  Do not carry it on yourself and cover your kids if you feel so adamant about it.  And as for the cigarette tax covering it, once they find out the administation cost of it, then they will have to tax the rest of us to fund it.  Also every government plan starts out great and then they cut the benefits to the doctors as they don't have the money and pretty soon there are no doctors that will accept those patients.  Seen it time and time again.   But like someone else said, give a credit to the family once they pay the premiums for their kids.   Government taking care of us is not the answer, at least to me it isn't.
Plans for CHANGE! LOL
x
What are Obama's plans now?

I never believed that BO's plans would work to benefit our country, but now he can't even start his plans if he is elected.  This economy is too out of wack and the government has NO money.  So how does Barry expect to keep his promises he has made during his campaign?  We can't afford more government programs.  It just is not possible.  So much for that hope he keeps talking about.

I admit that the promise of change is an attractive idea, but I have yet to hear any "plan" of Barry's that will actually bring change worth voting for.  Voting for him initially would have raised government spending and taxes.  Now that the country is in deep financial crisis....what does he propose now?  I haven't heard much of significance out of him to suggest he really will bring about change....or I should say change for the better.

CHANGE WE CAN FEAR.....Barrack Hussein Obama

help with 2 Obama plans
I have found 2 things I need help understanding that were proposed by Senator Obama and am wondering if someone can shed light on what these proposals are. One is "universal national public service" (also spoken about by Michelle Obama in a recent speech) and the other is "civilian national security force." From what I have read, they sound scary, but I am not sure I understand either. Anybody know anything about these?
me too - who else plans to quit
Why work. There are no incentives. Why should I work when my money will be taken and given to people like Peggy Joseph who stated she won't have to work to buy gas and she won't have to work to pay her mortgage.

I did not say I did not agree with his plans -
I said we are not all looking for handouts... Of course, some people believe that is what he is going to do - I for one do not believe he is going to give "handouts".

I also don't consider tax cuts handouts, I don't consider helping people go to school handouts.

And, I very much LOVE the idea of not rewarding companies for sending our jobs overseas and for giving tax incentives to the companies who keep our jobs in the states.

I love the fact that I will not have to itemize my taxes to get to count my mortgage interest off on my taxes - why should some people be able to claim that credit and others not be able to?

I love the fact that he stands for a woman's right to choose what to do with her own body...

I love the fact that he is going to work toward getting affordable insurance for all people and not have to depend on an employer to provide you some type of coverage...

I never said I did not agree with his plan - just that I interpret his plans different than you.

Congress looks at Big 3 plans...... sm

Congress has looked at the Big 3's plans to cut costs in order to "qualify" for a bailout, the amount of which has now grown to $34B.  Nancy Pelosi seems to be in favor, so my bet is they will get it.

Some of the concessions the auto makers are ready to make is slashing the executive pay, getting rid of executive bonuses, postponing employee merit raises for next year, suspending health care payments into a union health care plan, and possibly getting rid of the controversial job banks.

Ford said they only wanted a standby line of credit with the government in case the other two go belly up.  GM seems to be the one hurting the most.

I really have to wonder, will a bailout REALLY help or will it just postpone the inevitable with the rest of the economy dying the way it is????

Went on with thier plans...
with the blessing of folks like Nancy Pelosi. This is hardly a Pres. Bush problem or a republican problem. Obama digs much further and I think we'll find there are more people in Congress that knew about it and either agreed with it or did nothing about it, on both sides of the isle. Is he going to prosecute everyone?

That would be a sight!
All Obama is doing is builder bigger Govt and

Other plans out there make more sense

I've been researching other candidates and their plans.

On the Dem side - Kucinich has a plan for only one insurance provider to everyone.  Sends all the bloodsucking insurance companies and their "preexisting conditions" and "not medically necessary" straight out of business.  I kinda like that plan, as I used to do billing and it would sure cut through a ton of red tape for doctors, hospitals, their staff and the patients.

On the Rep side - Huckabee has a plan that does away with employers providing insurance.  That's kind of scary, as "pooling" to get better insurance rates has always been the cheaper way to go.

But any plan I've seen doesn't worry me as much as Hillary's!

Anybody else who has heard of a candidate with a good plan, please chime in!

i'm curious about both sides as far as plans
x
I disagree. I think Obama's plans

will be the one to further hurt our country.  However, if I am wrong (and if O wins I hope I am wrong), I will give Obama credit if and when it is due.  Until then, I stand by what I believe.  Raising taxes during a financial crisis like this will ruin us.  Taxing businesses more will only make our products and services cost more which WE will pay for.  And as much money as Obama is wanting the government to spend on his programs, he will have to tax more than the rich to cover his expenses.

Cut taxes and cut government spending!!!!  Not the other way around.
