against them for the sum of 303,000,000.00 for intentionally mis stating the companies revenies etc in an effort to inflate the stock prices. They officially settled July 21, 2008 and basically admitted they lied. THAT is one of the reasons GM is going under. I sent in my paperwork yesterday to get a piece of that settlement sicne we owned stock in GM.

Judge rejects Montco lawyer's bid to have Obama removed from ballot

A federal judge in Philadelphia last night threw out a complaint by a Montgomery County lawyer who claimed that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was not qualified to be president and that his name should be removed from the Nov. 4 ballot.
Philip J. Berg alleged in a complaint filed in federal district court on Aug. 21 against Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission, that Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya.
Berg claimed that the Democratic presidential standardbearer is not even an American citizen but a citizen of Indonesia and therefore ineligible to be president.
He alleged that if Obama was permitted to run for president and subsequently found to be ineligible, he and other voters would be disenfranchised.
U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick had denied Berg's request for a temporary restraining order on Aug. 22 but had not ruled on the merits of the suit until yesterday.
Obama and the Democratic National Committee had asked Surrick to dismiss Berg's complaint in a court filing on Sept. 24.
They said that Berg's claims were "ridiculous" and "patently false," that Berg had "no standing" to challenge the qualifications of a candidate for president because he had not shown the requisite harm to himself.
Surrick agreed.
In a 34-page memorandum and opinion, the judge said Berg's allegations of harm were "too vague and too attenuated" to confer standing on him or any other voters.
Surrick ruled that Berg's attempts to use certain laws to gain standing to pursue his claim that Obama was not a natural-born citizen were "frivolous and not worthy of discussion."
The judge also said the harm Berg alleged did "not constitute an injury in fact" and Berg's arguments to the contrary "ventured into the unreasonable."
For example, Berg had claimed that Obama's nomination deprived citizens of voting for Sen. Hillary Clinton in November. (Berg backed Clinton in the primaries.)
Berg could not be reached for comment last night.
Obama was born in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961, and the campaign posted a document issued by Hawaii on its Web site, fight thesmears.com, confirming his birth there.
Berg said in court papers that the image was a forgery.
The nonpartisan Web site FactCheck.org examined the original document and said it was legitimate.
Further, a birth announcement in the Aug. 13, 1961, Honolulu Advertiser listed Obama's birth there on Aug. 4.
The lawsuit I am talking about was just filed this week...by some Democrat attorney...
in Pennsylvania. It may be the same material Bill and Hillary were going to go to court with...this is the first I heard that they personally were going to do it.
And Rendell said just this morning...saw it on the news...that he was "ashamed" of the way the press and fawned over Obama during the primaries much more than on Clinton. He did not say anything against Obama per se...just harangued the press for its biased coverage.
Also just heard a guy, and can't remember for the life of me what his organization is called...basically disgruntled Hillary supporters...who says that some 30% of her supporters are firmly deciding to support McCain...according to him, that's almost 3 million people. If that many Dems vote for McCain...don't know if Obama can overcome that.
I still say Hillary may say she supports Obama to the public, but in private I am thinking she is behind these people making waves because she wants Hillary in 2012.
It is really fascinating how this is playing out.

Don't you ever search out the truth or do you just ignore it altogether. Obama has come out and denounced Farrakhan. He doesn't agree with him and he has told Minister Farrakhan this. He finds Farrakhans comments disgraceful and not something he wants in his campaign. However, he can't stop someone from saying they like him and want him as president. And one who would should NOT be wearing the uniform of the state police in my humble opinion), he was found drunk on the job in his patrol car, and told his ex-father-in-law if he got his daughter a lawyer he would be eating an f'ing bullet. Now Palin says she did not fire the man who SHOULD HAVE fired this lowlife for that reason, but for other reasons. I choose to believe her, HOWEVER, if she HAD fired him for not firing this lowlife I would be in agreement with her 110%. This guy's boss was obviously NOT doing his job. It is a no-brainer. If you are in debt, would you keep on spending more and more and get more into debt? No, you cut things out to reduce costs and try to pay off things. You find out you are in so much debt, you ask family and friends to bail you out. It works for awhile, but you are still in debt and now in more debt because of owing money to family and friends and before you know it, you are bankrupt which is just what is going to happen with this country. It is happening now.
As for creating jobs, sure, I am going to apply now to help make bridges and roads. Sorry, not my line of work.
If Obama fails, he stated at a town hall rally in Fort Myers, Fla, where the president promoted the bill, he said that in "a few years from now" if his prescriptions haven't worked and people don't feel like he's led the country in the right direction, "then you'll have a new president."

While the leader of the Democratic Party, President Obama, has pledged to change business as usual in Washington and spoken of bipartisanship, I have been saddened to watch as Congressional Democrats try to use their majority to advocate more of the same failed policies and wasteful spending of the past. With so much at stake, now is not the time to step away from my work in the Senate.

As someone who watched my brother die in great pain......
and nausea, morphine not helping, dying of cancer, I would have given anything to give him relief. And now that I have systemic lupus, RA, Sjogren's and sarcoid, I at times wonder if pot would help (although I HATE smoking and never liked any drugs), but sometimes you just want so much to function.
I agree. We all know the ravages of cirrhosis and other alcohol-related diseases, I have had loved ones killed in car crashes involving alcohol, I see my kids losing friends to it, and I know of many "responsible adults" who still think nothing of driving after "only having a couple." If it were medically managed by a physician for documented conditions, if it helps in pain (I mean, like OxyContin, Percocet, and morphine are NOT being abused, sold on the street, etc?), I think it would be worth a shot with strict regulations, could be a HUGE cash crop for California as well as other states. And I am sick of the argument that it encourages people to be drug addicts. Come on, how many people become alcoholics because it is legal, and solely for that purpose? If someone has addictive behavior disorders and genetic predisposition, they are going to abuse Robitussin, alcohol, sex, ANYTHING. And how about how cigarette smoking affects the economy. There are millions of people on Medicaide and disability with emphysema, lung CA, and heart disease that can be attributed to tobacco, but because of tobacco lobbyists for decades and decades, we will never outlaw cigarettes. JMHO

Obama has shown great judgment in the people who surround him. He picked a great VP choice, and his wife is impeccable as a helpmate and is a fantastic role model for the American children.

I think it is a good choice. Biden's a decent guy and fills in the foreign policy gap that Obama has. I think it was a tough spot for Obama to find a VP. He picks someone like Biden who is experienced and has military/foreign policy behind him and he gets criticized for being establishment and not keeping with his "change" message. He picks an outsider change person and he gets criticized for having no experience or military/foreign policy behind him. He picks Hillary and half the Democrats love him for it and get energized, while the other half of Democrats are angry at him and let down, and ALL of the Republicans are happy and energized to support their candidate whom to this point most have had a hard time getting excited about. It will be very interesting to see if McCain picks Romney or not. I think it would help him in some ways and really hurt him in others. I'm looking forward to the VP debate - Biden against anyone! Sure to be fun.
