I don't know...maybe fundamentalist religious types do it on purpose. No one is telling you that you cannot live your life according to whatever religious principles you choose. You want to eat only alfalfa sprouts on Wednesday as the key to get into heaven? Go for it! However, the foundation of religion is faith, not fact. So key for your religion is a blind belief not based in established, provable fact. If that provides you comfort and solace during good and bad times, fantastic. However, your blind belief does not have to be the same as mine, and where the trouble lies is when you try to force feed your belief system down other people's throats. Religion is a PERSONAL belief and should remain between you and your god/supreme being/higher power/wood nymph. Much like I don't want to know details about any of the personal moments of your life, you can keep your religious sanctimony to yourself, too.
