Please. They are both eligible. What is wrong with you people? sm

Posted By: geek on 2008-10-24
In Reply to: You do know that McCain isn't technically eligible to run for president, right? - independent

McCain's parents were both American citizens and his father was serving the US in the canal zone when he was born and Obamas's mother was born in Kansas for God's sake. What is wrong with you people that no one wants to talk about the issues? Doesn't say much about the intelligence of voters when they cannot grasp a simple concept like citizenship.

eligible, you mean?
x
You are what is wrong with me. You and people like you. SM
Your antiwar views and support of people like Cindy Sheehan put our troops at RISK. You cannot or will not see that because you are having just too darn much fun. You attacked the sm poster for something you perceived she was saying, that being a negative post about American Indians, but you were WRONG and you have been wrong before, accusing people of saying things I clearly remember another poster saying and you NEVER SAY YOU ARE SORRY.  What is wrong with YOU???  I'm sorry, there isn't any nice way to tell you what I think of you.  Read the letter by the Marine on the conservative board.  He lays it all out for you and there can be no pretense that you care about the troops when you read that letter.
What's wrong with you people? I am not sam.....sm
And quite frankly, the trend I see, is that you guys think you always have to have the last word, which makes you think you're right all the time. I just mostly ignore it all, though, because if it makes you feel better about yourself, I'll let you.

I just wish some of you guys weren't always so meanspirited to the right.

But again, I'm not sam. "ms" are my initials.
Wrong! Their may have been some people that...sm
would say McCain was pandering to the black voter if Powell had been his choice, but I think that most intelligent Americans have great respect for him, democrat and republican, and such insinuations would have been a non issue. I would have said wow, is CP qualified to be president, yes, much different than my opinion of Sarah Palin.
What is wrong with you people?.....(sm)

We should take them out once and for all?  With what?  Nukes?  That would kill how many innocent civilians?  Now there's a plan...NOT.  I know, let's invade them.  Uh-oh....that's right, our military is spread so thin right now that it's next to useless....wonder why that happened...hmmm.  I know, how about we reinstate the draft.  How many of your kids are you willing to send?

You said, "While O is trying to reduce our defense abilities, these leaders are building up theirs."  Wrong again.  What you should have said was, while Bush was wasting all our military resources on BS to advance his political agenda, these leaders were building up their defense capabilities.  And why would they do that?  My guess would be to protect themselves from rogue nations --- like ours was under Bush.

Why is it so hard for you guys to understand that "a big stick" isn't the answer to everything?  In case you haven't noticed, this kind of thinking is one of the main reasons your party is now on the brink of extinction.

Eligible for Medicare.............sm
does not mean free health care. My mother is a widow of almost 4 years now and draws a smidgen over $900 a month in SS benefits. Out of this, she has to pay almost $400 in health insurance, which is Medicare and AARP. She is also on several medications for age-related diseases and disorders. While her Medicare Part D does cover part of the cost of the medicines, it does not cover it all. In addition, she falls in the "donut hole" every fall and has to pay full price for her medications until the new year arrives. While her house is paid for, there are always repairs to be made specific to an aging house. In the last year alone, she has had to replace a dead stove, refrigerator and freezer. She also has to pay around $250 everytime the propane truck fills her tank, which is about every other month, especially in the winter.

Like the other poster mentioned, the reason "they" have their houses paid off is because they managed their money properly and did not live above their means. My dad never made more than $6/hour his entire life and he and mom raised my brother and me on that salary alone. We never knew we were "poor" because mom worked hard to stretch dad's paycheck and didn't spend it on getting her nails done or expensive clothes. She made every stitch of clothing I ever had with the exception of my wedding dress and bought my brother 3 pairs of Sears' Toughskin jeans at the beginning of every school year and they lasted all year. Dad had 3 suits of khaki work clothes most years. Sometimes when there was no money to buy new, she would patch the old ones to make them last. She never bought new clothes for herself but instead made them as she did for me.

While it infuriates me that I likely won't ever draw SS because it will be dried up and gone before I am eligible, it makes me madder still that our generation and the ones after us have caused this problem for our parents. What ungrateful children we are.
Then you are hanging around the wrong people (sm)
I don't associate myself with prejudiced people if I can help it. The fact is I am a registered democrat and am not voting for Obama based on his associations (Rev. Right, Ayers, etc)and his stance on partial-birth abortion. I don't care one iota about his race. However, I do think it would be great for America to have a black president, just not Obama. A good upstanding, honest and truly patriotic black man would be great. I would love to not vote for McCain, but I cannot in good conscience vote for Obama.
Blaming wrong people......
Blame the freakin' banks and CEOs - Wall St., speculators driving up housing costs (just like they are driving up gas costs, again). Barney Frank didn't bag all these mortgages into derivatives and then bet on the derivatives......Sheesh. When I refinanced my other home (yes, we have 2), I was told my loan would probably be sold. It never was. Probably because the payments were always made on time. (this was 5-6 years ago). My husband was laid off the first of the year (I don't work due to medical problems). My kids are paying the mortgage on the 2nd house. (I had a house when I married, then we bought a house together right before we were married). We don't have a pot to pss in, but, we have 2 houses to worry about. Can't sell 'em and our mortgage on the house WE live in is cheaper than rent.
are there not safeguards to make sure they are eligible?
I would think that they would check the eligibility information when they are put in the computer. I had to give my ID and form to the person and wait for her to put it in the computer and get an okay before I was given my voting pass.

Also, the people agreeing to go may be just like me - been thinking about it and just had not gotten around to doing it and this made it convenient for them.

And by the way, I never said if I voted Republican or Democrat...
Technically he is eligible to run - see message
He may have been born in Panama but his parents are both US Citizens, hence he is a natural born. When I was in the army in Germany and my child was born he was a US citizen because both parents are US citizens. While Obama's mother may have been American his father was not and when he was born in Kenya he was not an American citizen. He became an Indonesian citizen to attend their schools. Indonesia was at war at that time and did not allow dual citizenship, hence the only way for Obama to attend school was to be an Indonesian citizen. It is still being investigated if he ever changed citizenship after he was an adult to the US.
where in this post does it say beverages are not eligible?
The only beverages I see not eligible are beer, wine, and liquor. Sodas, though they have no nutritional content, are still consumable items and therefore are eligible for foodstamps.
You said you enjoyed proving people wrong...
then provide your source. And provide some more current statistics. That is all I asked for. A simple request. If you can't, you can't. No biggie.
What is wrong with you people. Post, ignore,
nm
Sorry you are wrong. ACORN hired people off...sm
the street for an hourly wage. They had a quota of how many people they were supposed to register, many were lazy and forged the applications, and then ACORN did not verify that the registrations were legit before they sent them in. There was NO oversight in some states, thus the problem.
"why people think Muslim is wrong"
I didn't say "I think Muslim is wrong."
Wrong. People are afraid to question O about
nm
You guys are focusing on the wrong people
there are always a few stragglers in the crowd, in every race and every political party (like that guy who stood up and said kill him)in the McCain campaign, every religion and every walk of life, just people who say whatever they are feeling at any given time acting like they were raised by wolves out back in the woods. You can't let them upset you. You will be upset every day.
I voted for Pres. Obama and I didn't agree with the booing either. I didn't hear it first of all, but I believe you it happened and I would have wanted to hide under the table myself. That was rude, especially at an event of such caliber. so I would have to agree with you on that one.
Maybe they will learn to do better along their path in life. I don't think they can hardley be counted as how the majority of his supporters would behave.

You do know that McCain isn't technically eligible to run for president, right?
The hypocrisy in all of this just ... man. Sometimes it's really hard to remain independent, just because the draw to be anti-McCain is so, so strong.

Please, please know that John McCain is absolutely NOT constitutionally eligible to be president either. The blame goes both ways (if, in fact, Obama turns out to not have been born on Hawaiian soil).

It's an issue EITHER WAY. Regardless of WHO IS ELECTED (if the above caveat is met).

Feel free to educate yourself:

Nice rant though. :)
Wrong! I happen to love my country and its people.

Totally wrong because the most educated people vote for Obama sm
That is a fact. The dumb, uneducated vote repub, the greedy rich vote repub and the religious right vote repub. The college educated people vote Obama. Why do you think McBush and Failin are out there calling Joe SixPack etc... that's their only hope. They know the filthy rich without conscience will vote for them. They know the religiouis nuts but some of the eehaas and dummies have been going to Obama and McBush and Failin are freaking out a little.

So you and your daughter have no problem with people who wish for people and their children sm
to burn in hell, call people's children ugly, etc. etc.  Well, you might not BE gt, but you might as well be.  Even the liberals don't agree with gt, or hadn't you noticed?  You might want to check that out and while you are at it, the conservative board has been a regular play pen since the liberals stopped their hateful dive bombing.  In fact, some really good conversations are taking place over there between both sides, which DOES NOT happen on this site.
Bored people are BORING people.
nm
Is that how your people justify killing people?

You're right. Something is definitely wrong

Not with the priests who do the molesting.

Not with the Senator who absolves the priests of blame and instead blames the Liberals.

No.  Instead something is definitely wrong with ME for my outrage that a Republican Senator can make such an outlandish, IRRESPONSIBLE statement, instead of trying to SAVE these children and condemning what the priests are doing.  Unfortunately, this is typical of the Republican party these days.  Typical of the "We are perfect and make no mistakes" mentality that's prevalent in this country.  They couldn't be honest if their lives depended on it.

Well, tell us what's wo wrong about what he says?
You can't, because he just pegged the lot of you like he always does which is why he has the top rated radio show in the country
You got it wrong....
Many of us liberals do not have delicate thoughts about terrorists.  But get it through your brain, if you can, that many of us feel that invading Iraq for oil and power WAS NOT THE WAY TO attack or deal with the terrorists.  Apparently they're mostly in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and what are we doing?  Messing around in Iraq.  We are LESS safe and I think time will prove that.
WRONG. You know what is

Not everyone is a liar.  Only the ones who have done it on this board before and don't deserve to be trusted or believed again.

It's quite simple. If you want to be believed, stop lying.

Then that was wrong
absolutely wrong, and the teacher and school administration were clearly in the wrong.   Shouldn't have happened, period.
Wrong.

What posts are you talking about?  Either I wasn't here then or you're wrong.  I've read through most of the posts but don't remember seeing that.  Prove it.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??!

You called her an elitist pig, claiming to mean it in a good way.

She replied with Yup, elistist pig here..Yeehhaaww~~

And now you’re claiming she said she speaks for God.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??!

So was I wrong? And if not...
...what are you getting so huffy about? Just for the fun of it? There's no arrogance in assuming you aren't one of the 1% of the richest people in the country. It's a natural assumption considering you spend so much time here, and why would you bother if you could be off doing whatever pleased you with money being no object? I'm certainly not one of the 1% and you bet I'd be doing something rather than putting up with your petty indignation if I had a virtually limitless income. So I didn't assume a thing about you that you were not free to assume about me in return. What's the big deal -? Are you ashamed anyone might think you're not in the top 1% of wealthiest Americans? Mighty fragile ego, that. Better face reality and get a grip - that's a pretty exclusive club.
What is WRONG with you? sm
Seriously what IS wrong with you?  This has nothing to do with anything in this thread.  Except yet one more occasion to use the word LIAR.
WRONG!

I corrected myself.  I admitted to my mistakes.  I always admit to my mistakes, and believe me, I make a lot of them.  I'm even harsher on me than the neocons are.

If the neocons could just admit to theirs, the dialogue might be more productive.

and *what if* you are wrong?

We both could be wrong.  I find debating what if's a waste of time.

The simple answer to any what if question is:

If you're right then I'm wrong.  However, I find dealing in knowns a better way to logistically deal with any scenario.  You can what if yourself all day long and never get anywhere.

Wrong. nm
  Richard Cohen was right.  Sad.
You are all three wrong. TI

Despite the UN ruling that Israel completed its withdrawal from southern Lebanon (UN, June 18, 2000), Hizballah and the Lebanese government insist that Israel still holds Lebanese territory in eastern Mount Dov, a 100-square-mile, largely uninhabited patch called Shebaa Farms. This claim provides Hizballah with a pretext to continue its activities against Israel. Thus, after kidnapping three Israeli soldiers in that area, it announced that they were captured on Lebanese soil.  Israel, which has built a series of observation posts on strategic hilltops in the area, maintains that the land was captured from Syria; nevertheless, the Syrians have supported Hizballah's claim. According to the Washington Post, the controversy benefits each of the Arab parties. For Syria, it means Hizballah can still be used to keep the Israelis off balance; for Lebanon, it provides a way to apply pressure over issues, like the return of Lebanese prisoners still held in Israeli jails. For Hezbollah, it is a reason to keep its militia armed and active, providing a ready new goal for a resistance movement that otherwise had nothing left to resist. In January 2005, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution condemning violence along the Israel-Lebanon border and reasserted that the Lebanese claim to the Shebaa farms area is not compatible with Security Council resolutions.

Wrong. I did not.

I never said this person was sent to SHUT DOWN down the board, as I was accused of saying by the rude, rabid person you're defending.

I said this person was sent to crash the board (as in INVADE the board, as in someone who would CRASH A PARTY).

Yes, I made the mistake of posting on the other board twice before I read further and realized the nature of these boards.  I haven't repeated that mistake since.

I suppose I can expect 3,869 more posts from you to make us even for my two posts.

After reading some posts by you on your board (such as Prophecy certainly is being fulfilled.  So much of the world has turned their back on Israel.), I can totally understand your blind, unquestioning loyalty to Israel.  You obviously believe the end times are near, and if you don't support Israel, you won't get to spend eternity with people like Ann Coulter.  People like you scare me because I believe you will do anything it takes to self-fulfill that prophecy.  That is yet another reason why religion and politics don't mix; I can't help but wonder if God told Bush to bring the end times about, which he seems to be intent on doing with his bomb first, ask questions later tactics.  After all, God told Bush to go to war with Iraq, and Bush obeyed that order.

I was wrong....sm
He said Fox was off his meds or *acting.* {{same thing}}

Enjoy your show! (and all its *cough* facts).
You are wrong. sm
Noam Chomsky and Ward Chamberlain both made comments that we got what we deserved on 9/11.
you got this one wrong.
I have been to the boards in the last 2 or 3 weeks once. I did not post whatever you are referring to and when I do post I always use my name. I have yet to come up with a reason to hide behind another. It was not me.
Wrong again...
I don't know what other liberals are doing or if they are mad about TV coverage. Secondly, I am reacting to a 1-hour broadcast, nothing more, nothing less. Maybe the new War Czar will see the necessity of administration presence at soldier's funerals. I agree with Democrat that this convocation was quite a bit more pomp and circumstance than Katrina where he showed up in shirtsleeves, made promises and left. I am not mad because liberal causes are not on TV...this has not a thing to do with liberal causes or TV coverage. It was my response to an event.
Wrong AGAIN....
President Bush declared a national day of remembrance for the Katrina victims and there was a great bit of pomp and circumstance as I remember it. I have never seen any administration order half-staff for a natural disaster, no matter who was in power.
you are just wrong
your facts and thoughts are so twisted and convoluted that further discussion with you is futile.  Step aside.  Next.
Okay, that's just wrong, wrong, wrong!
I'd say that is right up there with Hillary attacking Obama's kindergarten essay. What's wrong with these people and their campaign? Isn't anyone telling them when they have stepped off the deep end into the abyss of bull....
when I'm wrong I'm wrong
Everyone is wrong at one time or another...gotta suck it up and admit it. That's what makes us human. My MIL...she will never admit that she's wrong - infurates DH. When he tries to tell her the truth about certain things if she doesn't want to hear it, mysteriously something will be on the stove burning and she'll have to hang up immediately. Then she doesh't have the decency to call back. LOL
I'm sorry....but you are wrong.

Clinton was impeached on two counts, grand jury perjury and obstruction of justice, with the votes split along party lines. The Senate Republicans, however, were unable to gather enough support to achieve the two-thirds majority required for his conviction. On Feb. 12, 1999, the Senate acquitted President Clinton on both counts. The perjury charge failed by a vote of 55–45, with 10 Republicans voting against impeachment along with all 45 Democrats. The obstruction of justice vote was 50–50, with 5 Republicans breaking ranks to vote against impeachment.

So....even though he was not convicted and not told to step down from office....he was still impeached.  Only one president has been impeached and told to step down and that was President Andrew Johnson...I do believe.  President Nixon chose to resign rather than be impeached.
