DO NOT POST PERSONAL INFORMATION. (SM)
If you cannot follow the policy of no e-mail addresses, names, or phone numbers, you will be banned.

A Reply By E-Mail service is available when you want to provide an avenue of contact.
Posting personal information
invites identity theft. It also shows the poster to be extremely naive. I would want to hire someone with a bit more business savvy.
Names and personal information not allowed (SM)
Everyone appreciates finding information on this board about companies.  Whether it's good or bad, it is always appreciated.  However, it is policy that people's names and personal contact information is not allowed, and those will be deleted.  Feel free to name the company and gripe/praise as you see fit, but please do not post specific names from these companies.  Thank you.
Are you serious? Would you like my personal information to check to see if I am lying???
Give me a break...I happen to like working at Keystrokes and if someone asks a question about them I will answer as best as I can...
Does anyone have any personal information about Silent Type, Inc out of New Jersey, or

Van Belkum out of Michigan?  I posted on w/e, when not many on the board.  Will try again.   Thank you.

Sounds like a scam...I hope no one is giving personal information...nm

I don't blame you. We have personal information on those resumes, addresses, phone, etc. (sm)
and any fool can access those.

Hopefully they learned their lesson on this and will not post anymore resumes like that.
My personal experience has been...SM
I've been there via Total eMed for over 6 years now. I have never been out of work for any longer than I chose to be.

I also never have had a problem meeting minimum, even if I did change accounts a couple of times within the period. It's not that difficult if you've got the basic entries in your expander.

Good experience with supes overall. They've allowed me to change my schedule and flex whenever I needed to. Benefits and HR teams very helpful.

Co-workers are THE BEST! Helpful and willing to share tips and information.

Pay is on time, benefits are reasonable, and they are working to improve with MT input.

Of course a large national won't make everybody happy and it's not the right fit for everyone, but if you must have benefits, you could do far worse than Spheris.
don't have personal experience with
in an earlier post, they said something like the lines would be longer than usual (meaning smaller margins/fonts), and they only pay $1.50/page. I would want to ask about what the length of the lines and the average length (or lines) per report to make sure the pay is fair.

Say there are 10 lines at 65 characters per line per report, that is 15 cpl; but if the font and margins fit 90 characters per line, then it is not such a good deal.

And how many trained MTs have done phone interviews? Seems they would be advertising to a different work pool. I kinda wonder if they know what they're doing.
personal experience...
Very, very nice people, very conscientious.  Platform all right, but line counts seemed to take longer to make for me.  Had to have unlim. LD and that was the big problem for me.  I also spent a lot of time dialing into accounts looking for work.  Good QA, good tech support.  Wish it was all via Internet.  I also did not want to be responsible for my taxes (just lazy, I guess!).  DId like the flexible scheduling.  If you want to be IC and don't mind the LD, it's a great place.
I don't have personal experience
with Apex, although I hear it's pretty cool.  My account is still on DOS and I have absolutely no problem with that.  We have DOS and internet accounts, so I would recommend them to anyone who doesn't have access to high speed internet.  I've been there over 4 years and do quite well.  There's a new pay structure in place recently as well.  They're worth checking into. I do work a lot of OT but I don't mind since I'm a single mom.  The money is good, and I work extra when my baby is with her dad.  It works for me.
Just personal experience, that's all.
.
No personal experience with either though
Keystrokes would be my choice based on what I have read on the boards.
No personal experience, but..sm
I work for MQ and posted a frustrated post a week or so ago and received a private email from an MT who had left MQ recently and went to JLG and she loves it there.

I talked with them 10 or so years ago when MQ bought out my company and they seemed nice and I would have taken the position, but just had too much on my plate at the time to move jobs - and then MQ got better for me, so I stayed.

Ready to leave again now and after getting that email from a fellow co-worker, I think I'd try JLG.
From personal experience
From personal experience with over 20 years of acute care and moving to radiology, I think it is easier for an acute care MT to move to say radiology or pathology than it is to go the other way.  Radiology and path can be challenging as well, but I think what really slows me down with acute care is the drugs and all the labs.  Not that I'm not familiar with the terminology, but just because the numbers for me anyway, slow me down.  I think it can be OVERWHELMING to transition from radiology to AC.  I say this with some certainty because I have worked for companies when I have been responsible for training radiology MTs to do acute care and training acute care MTs to do radiology.  I just think it's an easier transition TO radiology FROM AC, not the other way.  I hope you will be able to hang in there and stick it out.  Sounds to me like the recruiter doesn't really understand what each job entails.  Unfortunately, the recruiters rarely understand what our job entails.  I'd talk to your direct supervisor rather than the recruiter if that's an option.
I can only tell you my personal experience sm
which I did. Anything else would be gossip. I was not an MT with them so cannot speak from an MT standpoint. ESLs were not bad - but things have changed drastically since then - found out later they did overflow for Medquist and not sure now which accounts are really theirs.
No personal experience, but...
... I have a friend who works there and DESPERATELY wants to get out. I think she said she's on something like 50 different accounts (!) which is completely untenable because she gets them at random, and there's no WAY anybody can be expected to learn 50 different sets of account instructions, so that slows the production waaaaay down, because she constantly has to look things up.

As always, others' mileage may vary.
I would be worried about identiy theft, getting all your personal information, then that weird stuff
then all that wierd stuff.
not always true - from personal experience -
clients were told that I was editing all their work - I was not.
What a Hoot! Yep, I have personal experience with
Bet this thread will get deleted by morning. Heavens, run from a Christian company that plays the Christian card. I have run into two - TRS and Transcend. Both totally lied to me about their plans for offshoring, as in international labor partners! TRS was in the process of actually training their own batch of Trinidad MTs, while Transcend was doing the same thing, all while swearing to me that they would never entertain the idea - America only!! Yep, they didn't entertain the idea, they were doing it at the time of the lie! So guess that might count a wee bit less than a bald face lie?? Now when I hear someone play the Christian card at me as a potential employer, I run. Immediately. The true ones don't have to wear it on their sleeve. They just have integrity and can usually tell someone with similar values.
Not an overstatement by my personal experience.

Texas and Alabama. Boston was a trip too but, I just couldn't pahk the cah in the right space I guess.

R U speaking from personal experience w/Webmedx?

Yes, but personal attacks and namecalling are also against board policy.
That's what I'm tired of.  If I wanted to listen to a bunch of scrapping, immature whiners, I'd go sit at the junior high school and listen to them.
The answers provided are based on my personal experience only

need any information you can give me on Medware. What they pay, (depends on your experience) platform (Merit), training (frustrating, on par with many companies in like field), do you pay deposit for computer (you supply your own), what they are like to work for (depends on who your Team Lead is), work (feast or famine), offshore (Yes), etc. I need it quick and any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have heard nothing but good things about Webmedx, but no personal experience NM

Some companies prefer that - more of a personal touch. nm

If you do a search of this board there is a lot of information available.
nm
The real information is on this board. It gets old

want to see them to see how bad some jobs really are as opposed to the rosy picture recruiters paint when you apply.  There isn't much positive posting here, which I find interesting, but it's probably from fear of attack from the nay-sayers.  There is good and bad about every company and this board gives me the option of seeing the worst from the disgruntled MTs.  I can stay where I am and be just as unhappy as some people are everywhere else.  In this economy, I'm thankful I have a job, thankful I don't have to get dressed up and waste gas going to an office somewhere.  You realize a lot of people think we have it made and would give anything for our jobs, no matter how bad we may think they are.  These attacks are silly but go right along with all the negativity at their jobs; some people are not happy nor satisfied even if they're hung with new ropes.

Any information on WNC Transcription on job seeker's board?

Can't seem to find any information on MD-IT. Does anyone have any experience with this company?
:-)
Anyone have any information about or experience with Virginia Professional sm

Transcription Services?  Pay on time, plenty of work, etc ... anything appreciated.

I come on this board for others' experience....sm
...but I will tell you that I have had some awfully frustrating experiences.

I worked for OSi. They skimmed off the lines. They had different QA rules depending on the QA at the time. The did not answer questions. I got put on probation for not knowing about hidden codes, which were not explained anywhere in hard copy, only apparently on some phone meetings here and there. The same week I got put on probation for not being properly instructed, I received 100% quality report.

I worked for an IC company who paid $.06 per line so that I could have my first work-at-home position. There was more cherry picking going on there than the National Cherry Festival in Washington, DC.

I log in when supposed to. I work OT when asked. I maintain production standards.

Is it too much to ask for decent sound quality and platform?

Why can normal office workers take a break and just get on with their day? As an MT, we are asked to make this up in production.

I personally think if you work in-house you get more respect, and this should be the only way. They think we sit at home in our pajamas with babies at our feet. Do they not see all the hats we wear as ITs. Do they not see the money WE spend on updated computers, virus protection, computer tech house calls?

Anyway, fortunately, I DID throw in the towel. I do not have to type for a living anymore. I was going nuts. This profession is NOT for me. I had typing jobs in the 80s in fancy offices and loved strutting around in my cute outfits and feeling part of the business world, but I do NOT enjoy sitting behind a keyboard all day, not being able to take MY life in control, but letting some grumpy QA make my day great or miserable, depending on where the comma goes in her opinion that day.

I'm done, but I never came here and complained. I came here and got priceless information about some of the companies out there. I challenge you to send your resume out and test with some of these companies, get hired, get excited about a future again, and then have your spirits squashed because they give you no feedback and mush-mouth, pissed off dictators all day.

Glad you got the gravy. I know several girls who have the gravy. I had a gravy position for six months. Finally loved my job. Then that account went to VR. Just my luck. Just as I was getting great paychecks and was feeling good about the 7 years of hard work.

I'm done. Thank God. No more sitting here hoping I get good reports, or at least not too bad, knowing it's best not to make waves else I piss off a QA.
The site is very inaccurate. I looked at several companies and it's a joke. The information is
very old and not even close on some of them. I wouldn't believe what you see or base anything on what you see there.
DeVenture versus Encompass. Plesae share if you have any information on these companies, good, bad,
or indifferent I need to make a change, but like everyone in this biz, you dont want to jump from the fire into the frying pan, so to speak. Thanks in advance for any information.
Several companies on the Job Seeker's Board pay that.
I see 3 right now. I can't say who they are, but they are there.
Board is for talking BETWEEN the MTs, not the companies!
Aren't you being ugly? LOL

Maybe you should be pulled!

There are companies on this board advertising for 8 cpl
They also want you to pay your own taxes, provide equipment, and pay your own long distance service. PLEASE. Don't do it.
Can companies track who you are on this board?

If you post a question/comment here about your company, if they wanted to know who you are, it is possible for them to track down who you are?

Thanks

I will bet if all these companies had message board that sm
you would still see the same things as on the MQ board. Same crap goes on everywhere.
Stick with the recommended companies from the New MT Board. nm

It's amazing to read this board and see how many rotten MT companies there are out there!
What the heck happened to this business!
It's amazing to read this board and see how many rotten MT companies there are out there!
Only if you believe what you read on this web site. Personally, I would not put one ounce of thought into what someone anonymously writes.
Doesn't this board not allow posts or ads by companies that outsource?

?? company board, can talk about specific companies by name (nm)

Posting on the company board and companies figuring out

who it is.  Okay, this is the topic, and the reason why I am bringing this up is there were at least 2 posts here in the last week stating they believed the company would find out or did find out they posted here and they said negative things and might get fired or did not get hired because of it.

How is this possible? Can a recruiter or boss actually pin down who is posting? What if someone says something and they are a troll and sounds like a situation which the company person perceives is an employee and they take it out on the possible new hire or employee and they are wrong?

There have been posts here in the past by company managers who say if they find out who is posting they will sue for slander.  Then, MTs come on here and assume that the companies go to the board managers and get the IP address to figure out who this is.  Even if it was a certain IP address, and they went through this whole process to find out, it could be routed through another IP address such as overseas (this is often done in the case of hiding identity).

Since this is an anon board, how can any company say for sure it is a certain person. Why would they go to the trouble unless it were given to the police or a lawyer in the case of attempted murder or threat of such?

I want to know you opinions. And moderator please feel free to comment.  Wondering if our IP addresses are given out every time a company suspects something and if so, is this an invasion of our privacy since this should be anon.  Or, is it that people are paranoid, whether it be the employee/new hire, or company assuming such.  Remember to never assume because why? You make an *** out of u and me.

Thanks for your comments.  This has been bothering me a while now, and I would like to get some input back on this issue from companies and from posters alike.

Companies that require five years' experience...sm
This October, I will be working as an MT for five years. I'm now looking to change companies and I notice there are several who require a minimum of five years' experience.

Would I be better off waiting until October, when I will have been an MT for five years, to change? Do these companies pay any better than those who require less experience? Or are they all pretty much the same and I may as well go ahead and apply to the ones who have less stringent prerequisites?

I've only worked for one MT company so I'm not very savvy on the MT marketplace. Any advice would be appreciated.
I agree on all fronts! Same experience, but 3 different companies. All

Are you getting decent responses from companies for positions if you have experience and are
a good transcriptionist.  I am going to start looking but it seems there are so many looking I am just wondering how it is going job wise.
Those are the same companies I thought about telling her. She has maybe 25 year experience in the
hospital setting.  I will recommend these companies to her.  I think she will be fine with one of them.  The hospital is going voice rec.
Speaking from experience.. you work all day and make nothing. I also have worked for other companies
on Escription and made a lot more.I just came to the conclusion that they do not pay for headers, footers, spaces etc.. I swear I would work 8 hours and be lucky to make $50. It was my first Escription account so when I changed companies I could not believe it. I make in a few hours what took me 10-12 hours to make at Focus. Dont waste your time. They design it so you dont make any money. What a waste of time working there.
Fifteen years experience here and also offered 8 cpl as a max at multiple companies. This biz is
going down hill fast. I remember making 10 cpl 10 years ago and that was cheap..Only profession I know that has gone down in wages rather than up. Very sad. If you offered 8 cpl..take it..
