Any info on converting a dictaphone 2-prong headset adaptor? I need to find a noise cancelling head

If anyone knows where I can find this, please let me know.  thanks

i have noise canceling
headphones by Bose. Rather than take a chance on getting refurbished or counterfeit, I bought directly from company. They give you a 3-month window to make up your mind if you want them. I kept mine. They are extremely comfortable, and I have no white noise problem. I kept track and my batteries last more than the 40 hours, in fact, in excess of 55 actual hours.
Does anyone use noise-canceling headphones?
I've bought a couple of cheap pairs that claim to be noise canceling but aren't truly noise canceling. It's a nice day and I've got the windows open but of course the groundskeepers are here today! :(. I'm considering some that cost like $300 that are made by Bose or a couple of other brands I've seen. Has anyone used any that worked?
q re bose noise canceling

hi - i have a bose headset already, but am on the verge of trying the noise canceling type. my question:  can i use them passively as well? ie, switch off the nose canceling and still hear the dictation?  thanks for any response.

Noise-canceling headphones
I have some made by Sennheiser & really like them a lot. I can switch off the noise canceling feature. You can probably do this with Bose as well. The noise-canceling part (actually acts like a microphone for ambient nose) is battery operated. I use rechargeable batteries & it's always been great.
Bose Noise canceling
Yes, you can switch of the noise canceling. You can hear dictation whether it is on or off. I love mine, sounds like the doc is in the room with me.
Noise-canceling headphones are pricey. I just had to buy
new headphones and I got some that have the big things that cover the whole ear, kind of like ear muffs.   They aren't noise canceling, though they do a pretty good job at shutting off all the noise.   They are Panasonic and I got them at Circuit City for about $40.00.
Does anyone use noise canceling head phones? (sm)

If so, do they really work and which ones do you use?  I'm starting to work remotely and it was hard at the hotel with the family in the same room as me.  I'm looking for a way to block them out =)

Thanks.

I use Aiwa noise canceling headphones
whenever I fly, and they make a big difference. I'm far less tired at the end of the flight from engine noise, and can enjoy my music during the flight. I also use them while I'm on my treadmill.
Best headset is a USB. No noise but the

Noise-reducing headset
I know that a lot of people have recommended the Radio Shack/Koss headsets.  I was wondering if these same headsets also block out a lot of external noise (like one's husband hammering in the next room, etc.)?  Could really use a pair that changes mono to stereo but, more importantly, has the noise reduction.  Thanks for any and all help.
C-Phone Headset

Try re-programming it using one of the black buttons above the number pad.  I do not use the speaker/mute button for my headset but programmed it using the first black button at the top of the row on the left-hand side.  Try that and it should work without disconnecting you every time.  Hope that makes sense

C-phone headset question
Thanks so much!  With your post and the help of others we did figure out that I needed a phone splitter.  I plugged the splitter into the internet modem, dial out with a land line phone until I get a connection, pick up the C-phone, place the call on hold, and then hang up the land line and I'm in.  My next question is "How do you get your headset to work without the line being disconnected"?  I've already programmed my headset as #*11, as per the C-phone manual.  But when I select speaker/mute and press the program key for my headset the call is disconnected.  I guess I asking for the sequence of steps after my call is connected in order to get the headset to work without the call being disconnected.  Thanks!
C-phone - How do I get the headset to work?

Hi all!

My question is "When my C-phone call is connected what is the sequence of buttons that are pushed (in what order?) so that connecting my headset doesn't drop the call?"  I have a program button set up as #*11, as per the manual for my headset.  However, when my call is connected and I press speaker/mute and then the headset program key, or when I press the headset program key first, either way, my call gets disconnected.  Any thoughts of what I may be doing wrong?  Thanks so much!

c-phone headset programming

I got this on 06/01/07 from MT Stars - here it is for you to program

Make sure the Dictaphone is plugged in and also into the wall phone jack.

Notice the display screen at the top of the Dictaphone, 3 gray buttons under the display.

Press the left gray button under the word PRGM.

The display will now read

PROGRAM

KEYS ID/TIME TEL

Press the gray button below the word KEYS.

The display will now read SELECT PROGRAM KEY.  At this point push one of the 16 black keys below the display on the telephone keypad.  If you are programming your headset for example, select any one of the 16 black keys that you want.  Press that black key.

The display will now say ENTER NUMBER.  For headsets programming #*11 (that is, the POUND key, the STAR key and then the number 11)

Now press the MULTIPLY KEY to the right of the telephone keypad.  This key says SELECT on top of it and has an X multiply function on it.

Press the STOP key to exit programming function.  The STOP key is located second from the right on the top row of the keys on the bottom of the C-phone.

Hope this helps.  I printed this out and this has been so useful, especially when unplugging the C-phone during electrical storms for a period of time and you lose the programming.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL

I have heard that if a headset is used or a speaker phone--sm
this is what causes the static. again, this is just what I heard from my own coordinator when a hospital account was using her call in system and using headsets. It took alot to convince the doctors not to use them, and alot of reports with *holes* in them where the transcriptionists could not understand them due to the static. good luck.
LOL. That's funny. I like the retro cell phone headset. nm

Ladies!! My c-phone headset plug is not working!
I don't know what happened.  One minute it was working fine and the next day whenever I insert the headset I get no sound.  The footpedal works fine so it is not the power plug..only the headset and I also cannot get the speakerphone to work or I would use it this way.  It's one of the C-phones that have no display...I'm so upset.  I purchased it off of E-bay about 2 weeks ago for $150.  Any ideas of what I can do?  How to get the speakerphone to work.  Thank you!
It's basically a phone w/o the handle. Has number pads. A headset plugs into it sm
so you can listen to the dictation via a phone line. So, if you use one you will need 2 seperate phone lines unless you want your phone to be tied up all day.

Docs love it because they can just pick up the phone and talk their dictation right into the phone.

You would access those files by dialing a 1-800 number and then putting in your codes, etc., and then the voice file will be there; kind of like dialing into a voice message box to retrieve your messages except you are retrieving dictation instead. Very simple to use. GREAT quality. Excellent quality.

I am 99% sure I am taking a job I was just offered yesterday that requires the use of one. Right now I am on Doc-Q-U-Suck and can't wait to change.
A special phone w/a foot pedal and headset attached for dialing directly into a system. Google it!

Anything called "noise-canceling"
This is a terrific feature. Several companies make them: Bose, Sennheiser. Difference between headphones with & without this feature is night & day. I have Sennheiser PXC 250.
I did finish the test
I did finish the test, over the weekend.  Then Monday had my interview.  Then Tuesday was told I got the job if I wanted it.  The next day I called and said I'd take it.  She said great!  I'll have management get with you to arrange delivery of your equipment and everything.  I took the job resigned from my job.  The she called back 15 minutes later and said I couldn't have the position we discussed.  I think its time to get in another line of work possibly.  This one can really ruin your self esteem.
didn't finish
I was SO tired last night, tried staying up to watch the entire episode, but couldn't. I know Dr. Jones was in labor and her husband was in surgery from an MVA, but fell asleep after that. Can anybody tell me what happened??!!

faux finish
Check out Tatouage on HSN.com or ebay - these are rub-on transfers of different scenes that can be painted over when the time comes. Go on very smooth and look like paint. They are very detailed and look so real, but can be wiped off when necessary without damage. They are great and take a lot less time than painting.
Finish the course. I think there will be a shortage sm
in the future of all medical personnel from MT to MD. Looking at the whole picture, those of us from the baby boomer age are pushing 50 and as families, many of us had 3 or fewer children or none at all. So, in my opinion, that leaves a much smaller volume medical personnel to care for the aging in the future. So, finish that course so you can type my reports when I need them.
Definitely finish with blanks. nm
-
No way will she finish that course in four months.
Especially with all those kids, she probably won't even finish it at all. It's obvious she's not going to listen to anything you say, so she'll have to learn the hard way.

(If you want to be mean, wait about four months and then ask her for a loan, since she's rolling in the dough!)
I can't think. I mean to finish: wish everyone there was alive and well and the tragedy was just

And we were supposed to finish school and work FT (sm)

after being offered a job making $25/hr. with full benefits and supposedly a future?  And now we're supposed to go back to school at 50 y/o because of this govt?  Are you with the illuminati or what?

This happens to be 2006.  There are many, many people who did not finish school because they were offered jobs that paid quite well.  Unfortunately, those jobs are now being given to illegals, etc., remember "the jobs that Americans won't do?"

I won't be going back to school, I made enough money.

Do you relisten to your entire reports after you finish each one or how do you
edit your work before you send it in.  Do you reread each one.  Sometimes I think you can miss a word if you dont but not sure how to edit before sending without making minimum wage.
I leave a blank and finish the report. - (sm)
Sometimes (if I'm lucky), the doctor will say the same word again later in the report, only clearer.

Even if they don't say the word again, often once I've finished the whole report and am proofreading, if I listen to the word a while later, I can then understand it.

The post below that talks about reading the sentence out loud in that accent is also a good idea that sometimes works for me, too.

If the sentence is a fairly common one you might encounter in other similar reports (like in a physical exam, or a hernia operation, etc.), sometimes finding a few samples of those types of reports online can provide an answer, even if it's a different doctor.

If you have the capability to put that report on 'hold', and go on to the next one, that's also helpful, because you might get the same word again in the next report (especially if it's the same doctor), and you might be able to hear it, then. Even if you don't, setting it aside for a while and then going back to re-listen to it is often the most effective way to unravel some of the 'mystery-words'.
Wall painting faux finish techniques sm
Has anyone ever done their walls in a faux finish technique?  I have a rather large room inhabited by my husband and the 2 dogs in the evening while I work, a big screen t.v., a beige fireplace, beige and hunter green wood look vinyl tile on the floor and hunter green furniture. One wall is paneled in a pecan paneling as it couldn't be done any other way. This room was an add on to the house. Right now the walls are a gray color but am looking to paint it something different, something that might not show the splotches caused by the dogs shaking their wet fur on occasion and fingerprints around the switches.  I found the softly aged walls technique on the HGTV web site were you use 2 colors and a divided roller and divided pan. I kind of like the look and it looks fairly easy for me to do.  Anyone have any ideas?
Encouragement for hard times - are you going to finish strong? sm

finish sentence - hard to reference with small writing and is there a CD available nm

Read the report backwards from end to finish. Works great for me.

To finish...no one obviously feels like typing up, so the night people get the pool garbage. Grrrr.

C-phone used to call in to dictating systems to receive work. A special phone. nm
nm
I had a lot of trouble with static in my C-phone. I replaced the phone cord and that made a big

difference.  Also, have you tried a different headset?  Also someone told me one time that there is a microphone under your volume control on the right corner of the C-phone.  It's a tiny hole.  If you break off a Q-tip and stick that into the hole that will squelch a lot of background noise and that worked as well.  As far as getting your C-phone service, I heard that Dictaphone is "sunsetting" C-phones at the end of this year.  Meaning, they aren't going to service them anymore as they are considered an obsolete technology.  So, I would contact Dictaphone and see what your options are.

I know very little about Lanier equipment.  I've not used it as extensively as Dictaphone.  Is there a local appliance repair place in your area?  You might ask one of those places to take a look at your equipment and see what they think.  Kinda scary, cause they could do more harm than good, but maybe worth a shot.

Not much help, I know.  But I thought I would share what tiny bit of obscure knowledge I do have.

I've changed them between an old phone and new phone, but the same company, i.e. Nextel.

I use my c-phone whenever we travel. You can hook it directly into your room phone. Be sure and as

noise
Mine are skipping pingskip ingipsk gnippiks along with bzzzzzzzz shhhhhhhh rrrrrrrrum
Noise
I have Philips brand for around $60. Be aware that noise canceling may imply that they drown out exterior noise, but from what I've learned, it actually means that it clarifies the sound coming into the headphones of crackles, etc. I can still hear my household noises clearly. I was disappointed in that aspect. They are comfortably padded and large to fit over the ears, but they don't drown out my kids, phone, etc.
As for the noise
I was hoping that if we could pinpoint which cars it is coming from, we could call the police out however many times it takes to get them to give a warning, then fine, then jail, then so on.  This is disturbing the peace.  The police around this area don't like to have to come out more than once for the same problem.
noise
in most areas there is a noise cut off usually about 10 pm - after that call the police station - not necesssarily 911, just the station. Normally they will come out and quite them down. Good luck
must have noise
I would probably save a ton on electricity but I keep the TV on in the background. Have to have noise. It is also something to look at when aggravated by really bad dictators that like to long pause or hold conversations with others while dictating - and these are numerous to me.
