I have SBC DSL and I use the yellow Ethernet cable.
I'm not much on techie stuff.
I use the foot pedal, just plugs into the back of the
computer. I use the laptop keyboard when in the car, foot pedal, and headphones. If we are traveling far I also have an inverter that plugs into the cigarette lighter that powers my laptop.

I have a new Dell computer, finally came, having set up but wondering, I have charter cable and will I need to get Charter over to do the email or can a person installing my computer do that for me? Anyone have something similar? The reason I am getting it done for me is I need to get the cable checked out as far as connection issues and then thought if cable guy needs to do both, then after the computer ready to go can kill those 2 birds with that 1 stone. I had VoIP back in Nov with my cable provider and then went with another IP and just used..sm

You can buy adapters for the plugs. As for
the keyboard, I would go ahead and buy a new one. The one you apparently now have will ruin you for other keyboards.
Brings back memories! I had a computer fan that sounded like a mini helicopter! Kept
calling my company and having them "listen". They weren't concerned. It did actually blow up one day - a little mini "poof" of fire, 2 seconds of light smelly smoke, and she was dead!! A goner! Never heard it before, never heard it after, but one did make noise and it died a month later!

It's basically a phone w/o the handle. Has number pads. A headset plugs into it sm
so you can listen to the dictation via a phone line. So, if you use one you will need 2 seperate phone lines unless you want your phone to be tied up all day.
Docs love it because they can just pick up the phone and talk their dictation right into the phone.
You would access those files by dialing a 1-800 number and then putting in your codes, etc., and then the voice file will be there; kind of like dialing into a voice message box to retrieve your messages except you are retrieving dictation instead. Very simple to use. GREAT quality. Excellent quality.

My telephone service is VOIP, but it s through my cable service, along with my cable internet. .
We have had VOIP for about a year now and I love it. I really can't tell a difference in traditional service, except the price. One of the best calls of my life was to Bellsouth to cancel our service!
Comcast cable has ULD that goes through their cable sm
and there are no limitations. I asked them. They said that you could use the phone 24/7 and it would make no difference. The cable modem has a telephone connection and backup battery in there, all in one unit. If you lose your power, the backup battery kicks in for 12 hours I think they said. I personally was reluctant but it is clearer than Verizon regular phone service. Clear as a bell! It is $39.95 a month. If you have any cable service, you might want to check and see if they have this. This is VOiP protocol but I just have never seen anything that was as clear as theirs.
If Comcast has this, it is my guess that the other cable internet services either have it or will have it in the future. This is fairly new with Comcast.

Since my phone is listed under my business name I get a free listing and have gotten quite a few one-time only jobs, seminars, interviews, etc. that really pay well and not needing a 24 TAT and it has worked for me. Also no 1099's with then as it is a one time job. Last year got a 10 tape seminiar on pet therapy and it was almost $2,000 for the seminar done in our spare time over 2 weeks. Just my 2 cents worth.

A 3yo yellow lab and a 2yo golden retriever. sm
Believe me, they keep me busy! The yellow lab is a freak about his rubber ball - has to have it with him every second or he goes crazy. The golden retriever is still very much a baby but is getting better. Both of these breeds are considered a "puppy" until they 3yo, so I'm patiently biding my time til they leave the puppy stage. I love them to death, tho, and can't imagine life w/o them. The lab is the absolute best dog I've ever had. Great with the kids, good protectors.

I did this and called 6 different companies and the premiums varied as much as $200.00/mo for the same exact insurance. Celtic was the company that had the best rate for us, but that was nearly 4 years ago. If you have no pre-existing conditions you can get a temporary insurance through Fortis for 6 months to a year depending on your state, provided that you have not been without coverage for greater than 45 (I think) days. You can also go on-line to einsurance.com and get an idea of rates, though I still suggest you call local agencies.

I did my office is yellow-gold with brown
tones and then with thinned brown craft paint ragged on using an old T-shirt. Turned out great and elegant. I also did my bathroom in green tones. People think its wall paper. This technique also hides any flaws you may have in your wall because it sort of gives it a 2D effect.

Desk with hutch and pullout drawer and keyboard shelf, on top of desk and in hutch two transcription units, a clock so I can watch time fly (haha), lots of miscellaneous reference books, most outdated but can't give up, plus large filing cabing, small filing cabinet, two printer stands that match wooden desk and hutch, loaded with more important stuff (yeah, right), one of those organizing paper holders (two stacked on top of each other) with 16 slots for different clients' letterhead, a laser printer (HP of course! LOL), the dozen roses DH bought me for Valentines, dried and looking pretty in the vase, DH's desk and hutch, with his two printers, a shelving system with a bunch of candle and soapmaking supplies (mmm, it smells good in here!), and .... of course! .... my TV. How does one find out the computer specs on my computer?
I should know this, but I just don't remember how to do this. I am hoping I have enough RAM, or whatever, to load work platform on my own computer and begin working on it, rather than paying *rent* on the company-furnished computer. Thanks so much.
A computer is a computer, whether it be laptop or desktop.
I have both and use both and I bought both of mine...most companies do not provide computers...

Thousands of noble dictating doctors are anxiously awaiting my help with their "dictations"....They're all loading up on chips, drinking lots of soda so they can burp, and then have to go to the bathroom...You know the routine! Off I go to earn some pennies!! But, truly, I am thankful that I have a job! 
PS.. It apparently worked..I heard back and already submitted the paperwork back.
I'm not sure how many people they are hiring but you shouldn't stress too hard over it. Do the best you can.

I notice you have Adelphia!I have it also in Ohio and am anxiously awaiting Time-Warner to take over and get Roadrunner. I've had problems and problems with it over the years. I can't get fast access with our phone company as they are not down our road yet (in country). You are lucky to be able to switch, though.
Anyone not have cable TV at all?
What do you watch? It seems like the primetime sitcoms aren't very family friendly. We just canceled our basic cable because they took two more channels away, Discovery and ABC Family, which meant we were paying $20 a month for TBS, PBS, and four free local channels. Nobody watches channels like Home Shopping Network, QVC, or Government Access, so why do they even include them? There's only one show I'll really miss, but it'll be out on DVD eventually. Not that I even watched much TV. The house just feels really quiet without any background noise. Where's that Internet radio site I bookmarked?
