Let me make this clear AGAIN! Posts on the political forums WILL be made with RESPECT
If your posts are not respectful and made with tact, I will delete them and your posting privileges.  Keep in mind that posting on the MTStars website is a privilege, it is not a right.  Have your opinions, but do not post them in a demeaning, crass, rude, ugly, disrespectful manner.  I have been accused of censoring the political forums, when what it really comes down to is the fact that I only expect visitors to post with RESPECT.  This is not open for debate and there are no options.  So everyone knows, this message has been posted on both political forums.  This post is locked because it needs no reply.  If you have something to say, you can email me directly.
Political Debate
You know, shelly, I love a good political debate/discussion. I sometimes have my own views changed or modified by a good point from someone who is well informed and thoughtful and whose views are different from mine. But you bring nothing to the table here. You and others like you have blinders on, shelly. Is your faith so fragile that you refuse to hear or consider any other point of view?

I'm very disappointed at what has happened to political discourse in this country, but I also realize that your narrow point of view applies only to you and other narrow-minded, naive people like you, and you're definitely in the minority in this country.

Many people who would like to have a serious political discussion on this forum simply refuse to be pulled in by folks like you, and have thus abandoned the forum.

You might do yourself a favor and allow yourself to read and/or hear something that doesn't line up with your preconceived world views. You might learn something, and your faith might actually be strengthened by considering an opposing point of view.

But I'm not holding my breath...
IS THIS AN MT BOARD OR POLITICAL DEBATE?...NM

Yup looking to stir up a good political debate
But if you can't hold your end up. Not my loss
Yes, there were and I moderate these forums. If you have a problem

you need to take it up with the Administrator. You can email admin@forumatrix.com

respectful? You? LOL!
A post totally and completely respectful from you?  I cant believe it..Your are goshing, arent you?  Between you and MT I cant believe the disrespect posted towards liberals/democrats..Just because you do not believe like us does not mean you  have to attack..You profess to believe in the Constitution yet you attack posts that believe differently than you..Hypocrites..You, sweetheart, are the queen of attacks..so dont start acting like a goodie two shoes..the previous posts prove what you are all about..Besides, get back to your board..WE DONT WANT YOU HERE.
You know, I was being respectful. sm
I should have known better.  Can we speak without cut and paste?  That would be a nice way to start. No, the military times does not speak for the servicemen.  And no, I am not saying that videos are whatever you said they were. I am saying that the posts we made where not all service personnel were against the war were backed by videos that showed them speaking.  NOT the printed word, which can be spun whichever way the writer feels like spinning it.  The fact is, I am sure there are plenty of service people who don't believe this this war, but still they serve.  The day we start letting the military pick and choose which war they serve in is the day we will have lost the military.  Just my opinion.
Thanks for posting and for being so respectful.

I agree that there hasn't been a single president willing to address the border issues.  But there also hasn't been a single president in American history to witness his country suffer an attack such as 9/11.  If there was ever a time to do everything possible to protect the American people, I believe it was after 9/11.  I believe Katrina showed everyone (including the terrorists) just how little we've done to coordinate local, state and federal emergency responses.  Bush beat 9/11 to death in his 2004 campaign.  In my opinion, he used it to scare people into voting for him, with the false promise that he was the only candidate who could protect us.

As far as Democratic spending, I couldn't agree with you more.  In fact, that's the whole point.  Democrats are the ones with the rep for out of control spending.  They, at least, acknowledged the need to help the less fortunate in our country.  Now we've got out of control spending, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, more and more people without health insurance coverage, and probably many Americans unable to afford to heat their homes this winter.  At least the Democrats, albeit it to the chagrin of most Americans, raised taxes and gave us a sense that we were paying for all the spending they were doing.  I honestly don't know now who is paying for all this, and it scares me.  It further scares me that this president wants to completely revamp the Social Security system, a system I've been paying into for the past 36 years, and I don't trust his financial judgment -- not even a little bit.  He's publicly described who he believes his base to be (the haves and the have mores), and that group doesn't include me.  Most of my adult life was spent as a single mother.  (Even though she's grown with children of her own, I'm STILL a single mother because I try to help her, my son-in-law and grandchildren whenever they need me.) I haven't had the luxury of saving for retirement simply because I couldn't afford to.  I know that I will never retire.  I will be working one way or the other until the day I die.  The only thing I have to look forward to is a small Social Security check to supplement the part-time income I receive when I get too old to work full time.  I'm not asking for a handout.  I'm just asking for the government to keep its word regarding Social Security and not pull the rug out from under me.

I also didn't vote for Bush in 2000 because I believed in my heart we would find ourselves at war with Iraq if Bush was president, even though he promised that nation building was something he was against.  As you know, this was well before 9/11, and now he publicly admits he wants to spread freedom throughout the world -- whether the world actually wants the United States' (and/or Bush's)  particular brand of freedom or not.

In all fairness, I believe the Democratic party dropped the ball very badly in the last 8 years.  In 2000, I couldn't bring myself to vote for anyone because I was so tired of voting for the least worst person.  I felt that if Gore and Bush were the best this country had to offer, we were in serious trouble.

I also think that Kerry was a terrible candidate to represent the Democratic party, although I did respect very much the fact that he had actually served in a war on foreign land and had firsthand experience in that area, which I believe is very important.

My favorite Democratic candidate was John Edwards.  He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.  Everything he has, he worked very hard for.  This is a man who has firsthand knowledge of how to build something from nothing, another area of knowledge I don't believe Bush has clue one about.  Edwards was acutely aware there are two Americas, and that's never been more evident than it is now, after almost 5 years of bush.

I'm one of those people who found what Clinton did to be deplorable.  However, compared to Bush, Clinton was infinitely better.  Clinton definitely left office with the country in better shape than it will be when Bush leaves.

We used to have three basic socioeconomic groups in this country: rich, middle class and poor.  The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer, and the middle class is starting to erode downward.  People who have median incomes are finding their effective net spendable income dwindling if they have to drive to and from their employment.  The only people to benefit from Bush are the rich.  It's a sad, sad situation when the State of Georgia takes it upon itself to close schools in order to conserve fuel, yet oil company profits continue to skyrocket.

I believe that war with Iraq is not only the single largest waste of money, resources, and especially American lives -- it's also putting America in much more danger.  This war has provided a wide open space for terrorists to train, and Bush gave them that training ground by invading Iraq and creating that training ground that didn't exist before.  We've completely destroyed their country, killed their people and wrecked their electricity and water.  I don't think it would be moral and ethical to just pull out of there immediately without fixing all the things that we broke.  By the same token, the longer we stay there, the more Americans we lose.  Saddam had been contained.  He was no real threat to us, and there was no legitimate reason in the world for us to invade Iraq in the bogus name of fighting the war on terror.  We have so very many things to do here at home to take care of our own, and we should have done that before even thinking of invading a country that wasn't a threat to us.  In 2001, we were told we're going in there to fight the war on terror. Now the reason is we want to spread freedom to the Iraqi people.  That's quite a leap and, to me, a person who feared in 2000 that Bush would attack Iraq, it's disingenuous, but most of all, it's not keeping us safe.

Hurricane season still has three months to go, and there's no reason to believe that more Americans won't lose their lives and/or homes.  We've got war zones all around us, whether it's an act of God or an act of Bush.  Whether it's the Gulf in Iraq or the Gulf in America, people are faced with losing electricity and water.  More urgently, they are faced with losing their lives and homes.  Somebody PLEASE tell me why it should be that Iraq is more important than America.  I don't believe America can afford to take care of both.  In my opinion, America must take priority.

I'm sorry this was so long.  I guess I've been waiting for a long time to actually enter a debate with someone who is intelligent and thoughtful and, above all else, respectful to a different point of view.  Reading your post was a real pleasure.  Thank you.

I have been perfectly respectful.
I am not sure what you are talking about.
Thank you for this polite, respectful

It's just that the other posters tonight were much more respectful and better informed.

Debate, lets debate
Honey, I dont know if your problem is Alzheimer's or Parkinson's but I have debated all over this board..I have tried and tried again and again to debate with your cohorts..It starts out okay and then your conservative friends start attacking and it continues through the debate to where then there is no longer a debate.  I ask for you to check the archives and you will see this..nothing but personal attacks against me, which then I attacked back..Debate..lets debate..I WOULD LOVE TO DEBATE WITHOUT ATTACKS..Place an issue and lets debate..Who knows..my consciousness might be raised or yours might be..Lets do it,,
It is not too much to ask to be allowed
on the politics board. The moderators have some in from time to time to remind us of the lay of the forums. Religion has its very own forum. Please use it when appropriate and respect the rest of us who simply want you to GIVE IT A REST.
Exactly, how else were millions allowed to die...sm
And genocide is not something of the past. Darfur is the here and now, but we are not effected economically (i.e., oil), so we go on our merry little way.
I have to agree also....he should not be allowed (sm)
to make a dime and Fox should not facilitate him. No one should. It would be nice if no one bought the book and no one watched....but we all know they will and they will. All I can really speak for is myself...I certainly won't be buying or watching.
And that's your opinion. We are all allowed to have one.
nm
So it shouldn't be allowed
because everyone might suddenly become gay and there would be no offspring? How about artificial insemination? This is a new one on me!
New VP candidate allowed to appear

for 30 seconds - no talking - for news cameras with world leaders.  Now, let's hear you say she doesn't have any foreign experience -- here look at this picture.

If we are not allowed to express

political viewpoints.....what is the point of a political board?

I have know idea to what post you are referring to that you posted and was removed.  You would have to take that up with the moderator.

I am proud that RW is being allowed to
been convicted and knows in HIS heart to be right without fear. I hope there has been no compromise or deal in the background made and I do not believe RW is of this character. I am afraid that you are right, the people who elected Obama will not be listening to what RW will have to say because they do not know who he will be talking to. I know this is just something for you and a lot of others to just laugh off, but one of the saddest days of this election was the day the Billy Graham Ministry resigned as as pastor/counselor to the the president since serving in that capacity since Eisenhower. They resigned just a few days after Nov 4.
Excuse me? So it's only allowed to say bad things
The first person stated republicans are strange. The first person could hardly know every republican in the USA and her statement was inflammatory. The second person returned the observation, and you say "typical," as though you know who posted it and what is typical behavior of that person? Tsk. You disappoint me, oldtimer. Here I thought perhaps you'd be a voice of reason. First you say stop petty attacks and then you stoop to flinging yourself. Talk about lack of credibility. You're either with them or against them. Did you decide if you can't beat 'em, join 'em?
Citizens are allowed to vote

with any motivation they wish - FOR someone, AGAINST someone, because they had soup for lunch, etc.  Supreme Court (hey there's a case someone can discuss) upheld same-day registration and voting.  Since they know the constitution and the law, I will trust their judgment.

The election system is OBVIOUSLY sound, because when Ohioans suggested that the Bush reelection count was rigged, they were denounced as conspiracy theorists.  One cannot have it both ways.

A Christian is not allowed to comment on Israel? nm
Have we made new rules?  I didn't know that!  When did that happen!  By the way, sm is exactly right.   Ariel Sharon has made a mistake that will doom Israel.  This is a man who wept on television with fury when saying he would never give up an inch of land and then handed the Gaza strip away. If you have been following this story for some time, decades, as I have, then you know what a tragedy this is.  One does not have to be Jewish to understand it. In fact, if you understand the Biblical significance, you get the picture.  And, of course, Sharon was wrong, as Hamas now wants Jerusalem.
They already ARE allowed to stay silent. That's the irony of this.
It's just one crazy loon who wants to foist HIS version of the world on the rest of us, which is no better than ramming religion down a person's throat.  What about those who wish to say the pledge, now they can't.  It was better the way it was... Say it if you want, don't say it if you don't want to.  That way everybody has the freedom to choose.
And I want to know why the bin Ladens were allowed to leave the country...sm
The day after the attacks???
The trick is, truffle....you are allowed unlimited...
posts, along as you support the party line. But if you deviate...katy bar the door! They are so tolerant, these dems. They believe in individual freedoms...and shame if the government infringes on them!! But if THEY want to infringe on them...then that is AAAAA-OKKKK. The Audacity of Deception and Hypocrisy...lol.
I never said citizens weren't allowed to vote.

I just do not think that same day register and voting should be allowed.  That is my personal opinion and I have the right to have that opinion regardless on how a court ruled on the subject.

Spelling police not allowed on this board.

Not allowed. Pubs haven't learned
LOL
I agree, isn't he even allowed to make some jokes.
because is the President-Elect?
Duh?
Guess he wasn't allowed to use the DOD planes
unlike some others... =)
I wonder if he'll be allowed to take the famous brush!!

Homosexuality was never allowed in ancient times
and it did not become a sin because the christians said it is a sin. It's written in the Bible and this I believe, because it is 'detestable', it is so written in the Bible:

' Below are some Bible verses that condemn homosexuality:

Leviticus 18:22 - You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.
Leviticus 20:13 - If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.....'
It wasn't legal, it was unlawfully allowed; thus, the

Because so far I'm still allowed to express my honest opinion. He hasn't taken that away from us
yet.

Those are his words, and what is scary is that I think he believes it. It's bad enough we've got enemies who believe they're in a religious war. With each passing day, I'm starting to think HE believes he's in one, too. If that's the case, we're in more trouble than anyone could have thought.

My post was about HIM, not about you. But it isn't the first time a Bush groupie has PERSONALLY attacked a poster for expressing their opinion about BUSH. Now, how do you think that makes YOU look? Maybe it's YOU who should grow up or at least WAKE up and see what he's doing, not just to us but to the entire WORLD.

As long as we all still have freedom of expression, I'll continue to express my views, whether you like them or not.

And I hope you keep posting. Nobody can prove my point for me like a Bush groupie, and I do appreciate the help!!

As long as the posting is not personal, they are allowed to post here. sm
If you have a problem with that, that is your problem. I have been watching these boards closely.  I have seen some posts come pretty close to personal insults, but as long as they don't, and the Administrator's rules, which were posted earlier, are not broken, cross-posting is allowed.
I thought lewd pornographic content is not allowed here...nm

So your in favor of a creep who tazered a child to be allowed
She put a stop to this creep being able to abuse his position as a cop who tazered a 10-year old child and put fear into a family with death threats.

She had the proper and legal authority to fire him. She should have also fired the person who didn't fire him.

If you think its okay to let thugs run around the streets in cop uniforms yielding badges and guns tazering children and threatening death to people your a real piece of work.
I guess we are allowed to call names so YOU ARE a FOOL nm

I rest my case. Obviously this person does not understand that in America we are allowed to have our

Cindy Sheehan not allowed to watch SOU address, was arrested.
Curiously, CNN reported that Cindy had UNFURLED A BANNER INSIDE THE CHAMBER WHICH IS AGAINST THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS RULES.

Half an hour later we learn that no such thing happened. Cindy simply wore a T-shirt with an antiwar message on it and was promptly hauled off to jail.

In Bushworld, you can not only be arrested and hauled off to jail for wearing a controversial T-shirt, but the major media will also make up ridiculous lies about you and broadcast them world-wide. That's some performance for a liberal press. But oh ho ho, we were all being so paranoid four years ago to claim that the press was a willing servant of deliberate Rovian disinformation spinmeisters. Once again, we are right on the mark and the Repubs? - blind and wrong and misdirected as usual - let us count the many things about which the progressive thinking people of this nation have been absolutely correct, and the Bush supporters oh so regrettably wrong. Wow, it would take pages and pages!

Can't tell them anything though - they can't admit it when they are wrong. The way things are going, they're going to deny us right into the communist USSR of 1965 - the state our teachers used to scare us about in 1965 - and we would think, oh, how awful to live in a place where the government controls all the media, where protestors are thrown in jail, where you have to be worried about speaking above a whisper if you criticize the government, because your own neighbor will turn you in! Oh those poor people, having their mail opened and never being able to see any real news, only what the govt. wants them to see!

But of course that was back in the days when dissent was patriotic, when Americans didn't spy on each other, when the govt. could not throw you in jail without a trial, when even Presidents had to resign if they wiretapped you without a warrant. You know, the OLD America, when nobody was above the law and citizens were shocked when the lies and deceit and self-serving greed of elected officials was exposed, instead of sniggering and giggling behind their hands about how bold their guys are, and ain't it grand they're still in charge.

Gee, I really miss it - was good while it lasted, and something to tell the grandkids about.

She also posts regularly here. Who are you to say where she posts? nm
//
Wow, my post was totally and completely respectful and yours is totally and completely not. sm
what a surprise.  Can't stand to be corrected or proven wrong, can you.  Have to call everyone a liar, don't you.  Got to tell people to stick things somewhere, don't you.   TSK TSK TSK  Anger management might be helpful.
You do not know how to debate

you are the biggest hypocrite ever.  I was debating with you, but just because you didn't like what I said you said I was attacking you.

Again, you're are a sad individual....hateful sad individual.

As far as I see it, there is no debate.
This country has gone to the dogs. We are now just another  *invading* country, with no morals, no Constitution, nothing of which to be proud.  We have a lying, warring regime taking us down with them, taking our freedoms, spitting on the Constitution, tearing the very fabric of this country, and you see nothing evil about that?  That, my fellow American, is what I cannot comprehend. Furthermore, Iraq was not our enemy.  The Bush Family MADE him our enemy so that our very DEMOCRACY would be eroded to the point that we won't even recognize by the time he is out of office.  And you don't see any EVIL in that?  WAKE UP, Smell the coffee, or even the stench that wreaks from this regime.
Debate
One of the biggest problems that we have today is our inability to have intellegent discussions. The previous commenters irrational, over-wrought statements, frought with conspiracy theory, does an excellent job of proving that point. There is plenty of grist for calling those in power to task for their actions and decisions without foaming at the mouth. Oh, how I long for the days of the old boy's club of the congress before the eighties when people of conscience could disagree on substance, still be fast friends and treat their political opposites with respect and decorum. I'm contuinally amazed how the most vocal and extreme ascribe nefarious motives to others. This seems to be, almost exclusively, an affliction of the left. Without this intellectual pollution, we might be able to actually find common ground.

Debate me...

First it was that **we couldn't debate,** now it is ** persecution.** When did I say I was persecuted. I merely said the Crusades have been seen in a negative light for as long as I can remember and suddenly they are being seen in a good light. That's all, kaput, the end. Martyr...don't think so.

I don't know how you can live with such disdain for all liberals and all Arab peoples and have any peace or joy in your life. That is a full-time job, being angry.
