respectful? You? LOL!
A post totally and completely respectful from you?  I cant believe it..Your are goshing, arent you?  Between you and MT I cant believe the disrespect posted towards liberals/democrats..Just because you do not believe like us does not mean you  have to attack..You profess to believe in the Constitution yet you attack posts that believe differently than you..Hypocrites..You, sweetheart, are the queen of attacks..so dont start acting like a goodie two shoes..the previous posts prove what you are all about..Besides, get back to your board..WE DONT WANT YOU HERE.
You know, I was being respectful. sm
I should have known better.  Can we speak without cut and paste?  That would be a nice way to start. No, the military times does not speak for the servicemen.  And no, I am not saying that videos are whatever you said they were. I am saying that the posts we made where not all service personnel were against the war were backed by videos that showed them speaking.  NOT the printed word, which can be spun whichever way the writer feels like spinning it.  The fact is, I am sure there are plenty of service people who don't believe this this war, but still they serve.  The day we start letting the military pick and choose which war they serve in is the day we will have lost the military.  Just my opinion.
Thanks for posting and for being so respectful.

I agree that there hasn't been a single president willing to address the border issues.  But there also hasn't been a single president in American history to witness his country suffer an attack such as 9/11.  If there was ever a time to do everything possible to protect the American people, I believe it was after 9/11.  I believe Katrina showed everyone (including the terrorists) just how little we've done to coordinate local, state and federal emergency responses.  Bush beat 9/11 to death in his 2004 campaign.  In my opinion, he used it to scare people into voting for him, with the false promise that he was the only candidate who could protect us.

As far as Democratic spending, I couldn't agree with you more.  In fact, that's the whole point.  Democrats are the ones with the rep for out of control spending.  They, at least, acknowledged the need to help the less fortunate in our country.  Now we've got out of control spending, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, more and more people without health insurance coverage, and probably many Americans unable to afford to heat their homes this winter.  At least the Democrats, albeit it to the chagrin of most Americans, raised taxes and gave us a sense that we were paying for all the spending they were doing.  I honestly don't know now who is paying for all this, and it scares me.  It further scares me that this president wants to completely revamp the Social Security system, a system I've been paying into for the past 36 years, and I don't trust his financial judgment -- not even a little bit.  He's publicly described who he believes his base to be (the haves and the have mores), and that group doesn't include me.  Most of my adult life was spent as a single mother.  (Even though she's grown with children of her own, I'm STILL a single mother because I try to help her, my son-in-law and grandchildren whenever they need me.) I haven't had the luxury of saving for retirement simply because I couldn't afford to.  I know that I will never retire.  I will be working one way or the other until the day I die.  The only thing I have to look forward to is a small Social Security check to supplement the part-time income I receive when I get too old to work full time.  I'm not asking for a handout.  I'm just asking for the government to keep its word regarding Social Security and not pull the rug out from under me.

I also didn't vote for Bush in 2000 because I believed in my heart we would find ourselves at war with Iraq if Bush was president, even though he promised that nation building was something he was against.  As you know, this was well before 9/11, and now he publicly admits he wants to spread freedom throughout the world -- whether the world actually wants the United States' (and/or Bush's)  particular brand of freedom or not.

In all fairness, I believe the Democratic party dropped the ball very badly in the last 8 years.  In 2000, I couldn't bring myself to vote for anyone because I was so tired of voting for the least worst person.  I felt that if Gore and Bush were the best this country had to offer, we were in serious trouble.

I also think that Kerry was a terrible candidate to represent the Democratic party, although I did respect very much the fact that he had actually served in a war on foreign land and had firsthand experience in that area, which I believe is very important.

My favorite Democratic candidate was John Edwards.  He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.  Everything he has, he worked very hard for.  This is a man who has firsthand knowledge of how to build something from nothing, another area of knowledge I don't believe Bush has clue one about.  Edwards was acutely aware there are two Americas, and that's never been more evident than it is now, after almost 5 years of bush.

I'm one of those people who found what Clinton did to be deplorable.  However, compared to Bush, Clinton was infinitely better.  Clinton definitely left office with the country in better shape than it will be when Bush leaves.

We used to have three basic socioeconomic groups in this country: rich, middle class and poor.  The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer, and the middle class is starting to erode downward.  People who have median incomes are finding their effective net spendable income dwindling if they have to drive to and from their employment.  The only people to benefit from Bush are the rich.  It's a sad, sad situation when the State of Georgia takes it upon itself to close schools in order to conserve fuel, yet oil company profits continue to skyrocket.

I believe that war with Iraq is not only the single largest waste of money, resources, and especially American lives -- it's also putting America in much more danger.  This war has provided a wide open space for terrorists to train, and Bush gave them that training ground by invading Iraq and creating that training ground that didn't exist before.  We've completely destroyed their country, killed their people and wrecked their electricity and water.  I don't think it would be moral and ethical to just pull out of there immediately without fixing all the things that we broke.  By the same token, the longer we stay there, the more Americans we lose.  Saddam had been contained.  He was no real threat to us, and there was no legitimate reason in the world for us to invade Iraq in the bogus name of fighting the war on terror.  We have so very many things to do here at home to take care of our own, and we should have done that before even thinking of invading a country that wasn't a threat to us.  In 2001, we were told we're going in there to fight the war on terror. Now the reason is we want to spread freedom to the Iraqi people.  That's quite a leap and, to me, a person who feared in 2000 that Bush would attack Iraq, it's disingenuous, but most of all, it's not keeping us safe.

Hurricane season still has three months to go, and there's no reason to believe that more Americans won't lose their lives and/or homes.  We've got war zones all around us, whether it's an act of God or an act of Bush.  Whether it's the Gulf in Iraq or the Gulf in America, people are faced with losing electricity and water.  More urgently, they are faced with losing their lives and homes.  Somebody PLEASE tell me why it should be that Iraq is more important than America.  I don't believe America can afford to take care of both.  In my opinion, America must take priority.

I'm sorry this was so long.  I guess I've been waiting for a long time to actually enter a debate with someone who is intelligent and thoughtful and, above all else, respectful to a different point of view.  Reading your post was a real pleasure.  Thank you.

I have been perfectly respectful.
I am not sure what you are talking about.
Thank you for this polite, respectful
nm
A respectful campaign? Surely you jest. n/m

Debate is allowed on the political forums. Be respectful in your posts. If you

cannot post in kind, DON'T POST.

You are always so well-informed.
nm
I am sure you are more informed than
I am on this subject. But, if this was what they agreed to in 2005, why would Hamas begin bombing in 2008 because they disagreed with it?
PK is well informed, you seem to be programmed.nm
z
Get Informed, I agree with you too,

and I enjoy the politics of it all, but I am truly very concerned what is going on.  How in the world can a man who says he puts "Country First" in such peril?  It might be funny if it wasn't so deadly serious.  If McPain gets in the WH, will just have a ball with what money we have set aside, maybe go to Alaska and just hope a polar bear comes along and has one good last meal.....lol sort of.  LOL.

Oh pulleease you are so mis-informed
Name one person who has been killed because of Beck. Just did a search, haven't found one. Sure he may be a bit "animated" - the gas can incident was a good example to show people what is happening. You just don't agree with what he says. But he is the only one out there who is telling us the truth and telling it like it is. I for one have been listening to him and he has a good show. If it wasn't for Beck I wouldn't have known about this administration cutting back the death benefits for the families of slain police officers in the line of duty, yet at the same time this administration is spending over $300K to research gay bars in Argentina to find out why gays get drunk and participate in that behavior. There is so much we don't know in this country but at least Beck is informing the people. If you don't like him don't listen. But please spare us with the lies of "people have died because of him".

Hannity - I actually can't stand the guy - Savage calls him a Leprechaun. HA HA. I don't like him but there is not one thing he's done to incite violence.

Rush Limbaugh - He may be in the republican party, but he was never the leader. That was made up by the liberal media. You know like "Al Gore invented the internet" which he never said to begin with. Both parties are making things up.

It's more like that the conservatives know history and are better informed.
I am amazed that you people are not challenged more.  I don't care about the political aspect but this is just ridiculous. Capitalism is superior to socialism in every way.  Socialist societies have never prospered.  Never.  Socialism remains a failed experiment.  Capitalism was implemented in West Germany and West Berlin following World War II. West Germany and West Berlin prospered and living standards became much better. Socialism was implemented in East Germany and East Berlin following World War II. East Germany and East Berlin stagnated and living standards deteriorated. The split turned German into an experiment that could be observed, studied, and used to show the differences of how capitalism and socialism affect a country. This is a matter of fact.  Anyone who opts for socialism is a fool.
I guess God himself has spoken to you and informed you
that the rapture will pass Lilly by.

Everyone tune in Divinity is speaking on the chat board tonight.

Joke!
Your characterization of Obama is ill informed.
nm
Rush rocks. He just informed us

that President Bush's applauses & Fred Thompson's speech were apparently edited out or ignored from MSLSD (NBC) and CBS.  If that's the case, how responsible is that?  That's as bad as MQ being the only MTSO out there, period.

Fred Thompson was incredible last PM.  I suppose I'll have to dig that one out for those who think the news is on the drive-by channels like these.

That's certainly not to diminish Joe Lieberman's speech.  Even when he was running for VP, the GOP wouldn't go "after him," only challenge the issues.  He's a perfect example of a liberal who puts country before party.  Frankly, it's impossible to dislike the man, regardless of what side he's on.

I guess one of the things she's not very informed

You are woefully ill informed on who democrats
You are also mistaken to think that after saturating the airways for the past 2 years with smear tactics that suddenly they are going to take a complete 180 and become effective...especially in light of the economic meltdown and your candidate's cowardly retreat from the issues at hand. Americans have a one-track mind right now. If he stays silent on the economy he will lose the election...no doubt about it.
Oh, I am informed. I don't listen to the smut

I've been following the candidates throughout this whole process. O is not going to cure our ills. He will just put us more into debt. I would have loved to hear the crap spewed by BOTH but let's face it. If the O wins and any of his dem affiliates and everything is democratic, there goes the checks and balances; i.e., they can put through any law with smooth sailing and nary a person can undermine it.

Do you understand and see what I'm saying???? Probably not.  Let me put it in English....if the O wants to ban guns, it will be done. If the O wants to tax people that earn $1,000  a year (just a supposition), it will be done. If the O wants to tax us to death on health care, it will be done. If he wants us to rely on the government for our income, it will be done.

We need checks and balances so we don't become another Cuba or Russia. Don't you get that? If the dems control everything, there's no way this will be "for the people, of the people" demoncracy. It will be Venezula, Cuba, Russia, China, etc.,  so called republic and I'm not looking forward to it.

BTW, I split my vote so you can't call me a pub.

the informed voting public

Give this a listen.
For one thing, that you're not informed

of the truth (which I posted below) and are spreading the "mandatory" myth, which inflames and upsets people.

Obama's programs are inclusive and designed for those who choose to participate for the good of the country, to bring us closer together.  If you want no part of that, then, that's your choice, and though I personally think it's sad, it's probably for the best.  Either way, it's your CHOICE and is NOT MANDATORY.

You are delusional AND ill-informed. What a pity.
By your logic, Palestinians are in charge (yeah, right). That's the only way they could possibly be occupiers. When was the last time they blockaded Israel's food, medicine, fuel and money? Point to the place on the map where they have "expanded" their settlements, especially in light of the fact that the majority of them live in refugee camps. Israelis have not right to return? Return from which diaspora? They are there, or not, by choice, not by force. There is a difference. Palestinians try to tear down the wall, not construct it.

Since when do they have the power to imposed ANYTHING on the Israelis, let alone a police state. This current so-called retaliation is in response to the expiration of a cease fire, not renewed by Hamas because Israel did not live up to its own bargain and refused to lift the blockade. Palestinians invaded what part of Israel? When? Remember, they are the ones living on the ever-shrinking, splintering geography. Israelis think nothing of plundering even the most basic of resources, and scarce at that....water. Just another routine starvation tactic as they swim in their pools. Again, consult the disproportionate fatality statistics on fatalities and injuries. No matter how hard you protest, you cannot turn your lies into truth.

More pregnant women should be informed of this.
When I had my son, we donated his cord blood and it was all done for free. When I had my daughter four years later (and at a different hospital), we were told that we could store the cord blood, but not donate, and of course, storing means paying (way too much), so we didn't do it then. I probably should have done more checking around to see where we could have donated.

That one, I'm all for - if they could use that to find a cure for or treat cancer, MD, or anything else, imagine how fabulous that would be!!!
no I'm not a lover but do like to stay informed.
I can only take about 5 minutes of bull*(#% a day though.
imposing to assume that I am not informed
because I disagree with you?
Original poster is well informed and did the research
This is total Hogwash!!!! Please provide a link that I can view the document showing he voted against giving medical care to babies who survive abortion. This is just rubbish being spewed by the (oh how I hate to say this word) right wing in favor of McCain. I won't believe it until I see the document with his signature against medical care.

Obama has devoted his entire life to helping people. This idea of how he is for abortions (torturing of innoicent babies) telling people they need to leave them sitting on a bare table to rot in the same room as some filthy toilet is pure GARBAGE!

Obama is for helping people in the community, the less fortunate, the needy, the hungry, the unemployed, the children, the education system, the elderly, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. To spread this type of smear is about as low as the republicans can go.

So all I say is prove it. Provide a link showing Obama's signature.
I decide for this informed American voter....
and a man's affairs or not affairs is not the reason I will vote or not vote. I don't want a socialist America, so I would not vote for Barack Obama.
If she gave sensible or informed answers it was because they were prewritten.

This has got to be the stupidst, ill-informed comment I have ever read on here!!

Anyone interested in being well informed watches Fixed Noise
How else can one keep up with what the myopic right-wing is up to, especially nobody else in the mainstream media with any ethical integrity will carry the bulk of their stories?

tonight on CBS

Katie Couric will ask her to discuss any supreme court case other than Roe v Wade.  She sits there blankly.  She knows of no other cases. Nobody makes her appear anything.  They ask her questions relevant to history and our government and she demonstrates her lack of knowledge.

where would I see him tonight?
I want to hear it! thanks.
The trolls are out to tonight..the trolls are out tonight
When they smell blood in the water they come swimming.
That ought to work well for you, at least for tonight.
nm
On 60 minutes tonight

mr Mcclain said he had no problem with going to war with Russia as per NATO if they attack Georgia again.  I dont know even where Georgia is so I was not sure I would agree the US should have a war with the big country over some were I don't know even where it is.  Aren't we enough war already?

I cannot believe this board tonight!!!

I actually come here for some stimulating conversation and lately it has gotten to where I wonder why I do it anyway -- nothing but ranting and raving and bashing - YES, FROM BOTH SIDES -- but what is on here tonight is just ridiculous!!!

Who cares if there is a spelling mistake?  When you are a beautician, do you always fix your own hair when you are off work?  When you are a mechanic, is your car always in perfect condition?  If you are a janitor, is your house always perfect?  If you are a carpenter, is your home always in perfect repair?  My goodness, what is the problem?  I come here to unwind and have a conversation with somebody besides the cat and the dog and who cares if I have a problem typing the correct spelling sometimes?

And why can't we discuss what we want to discuss without someone telling us how wrong we are, or how we are going to be regretting the decisions we made in a few months, or how terrible Obama is, or what he is doing wrong already (when he is not even the POTUS yet), or how big a mistake it was for McCain to pick Palin, or how terrible it was that she spent all that money on clothes?

Issues, folks!  Issues and answers - that is what we should be worrying about.  How many of us are going to be homeless ourselves in a few months through no fault of our own?  How many of us are going to be losing what little we have left in a few months through no fault of our own?

Have any of you took a minute to think that when people can't eat, they don't go to the doctor, and when people don't go to the doctor, we have no work?  That means no pay for most of us...  that is what I am worrying about - my pay has already gone down about $50 a day in the last month because the hospital I work for has no work for me...  I am worried about losing my home that I bought "responsibly", I am worried about not eating one day soon because I have no money to buy groceries...

Let's talk about these things and figure out where to go or what to do from here to build our country up and our friends up, to help the person that is reading the next message you post to have some hope that things are going to get better, or at least that they are not getting worse - quit tearing each other down and fussing and arguing all the time!!!

CAN'T WE JUST ALL GET ALONG???

I heard tonight sm
that the reason people get so outraged when Israel retaliates is that the Hamas purposefully hide themselves among civilians so that when they are struck, so are the civilians and that makes the Israelis look bad - at least worse than when the Hamas send their missiles over.
Mrs M - are we just a little bit RIPPED tonight?
X
If anyone can catch Hardball tonight

on MSNBC, there's a wonderful interview with parents of one of the Marines who was killed in the last couple days in Iraq.

These people gave the ultimate sacrifice, and IMHO their voices are very important.

Me too, MS....I look forward to all who are speaking tonight.
Guiliani is speaking, Huckabee....though I am not a Republican, I have to admire them. When one of theirs has some issues that they disagree on (like Guiliani being pro choice), they don't excommunicate and demonize them. MUCH more democratic party than the Democratic party.
I am as well.. can't wait for the speakers tonight, especially SP
nm
Anybody watch ABC News tonight?

Charlies Gibson had a personal interview with JM about Sarah. Very interesting. He has the utmost confidence in her as VP.

Most of the news tonight was on the convention.

Trace Adkins Tonight at RNC
He'll be singing the National Anthem at about 7:30 PM EST.
my goodness....am I ever popular tonight....lol...
almost as much as you sam!!

When I told them to carry on, they reallllyyyyy carried on.....lol....

Gotta love those dems....
Bidens 14 lies tonight

1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”

14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

True - it's been all over the news tonight how
So yeah, I hope she and the rest of 'em keep it up. It's gonna cost 'em the election.
The vile posts tonight.
I understand and appreciate the fact that the moderators do not want to censor this forum, but the posts tonight by someone who shall remain nameless are beyond vile. Unfortunately, by responding to this person's posts, we are encouraging her to continue spewing hate. There is no way to reason with someone like this, and I think it is best to do as the moderators suggest and ignore the posts in the hopes that she will just go away. Tonight's posts have been absolutely sickening.
How many thread do you need to dominate tonight?
You could post your question down under your newly brought up to the top post and while you are at it, you might consider answering the questions I have been posing to you since lunch time. Otherwise, do you mind if I solicit opinions on this progressive tax table from posters other than yourself?
I heard tonight that Obama

was planning on asking Hillary Clinton to be Secretary of State.  Remembering back to the primary days, I'm not sure I think this is a good idea.  For that matter, I'm not even sure it's true; just something I heard, nothing official.

I'm having a rough night and feel there's another hospitalization for me looming in my very near future, so I might not be able to post on here for a while for feedback from you on this.  (To some on this board, go ahead and flame away.)  Good thing they have TV sets in the hospital, though, so I can at least keep up with the news.  LOL.

Anyway, take care.

About Hannity, don’t have to watch tonight
I swear, if you miss him 1 day you can tune in next week, the week after or next year and he will repeat word by word by word what he has been talking about. I do not listen of a day except yesterday drove down to my store, about 5 minutes away and then back- he was STILL talking about Rev. Wright. He sounds like a broken record, should give it up, did not work the first time around, not working now.
