Respect has to be earned...it is not a God-given right!
You cannot demand respect, you must earn it! I have the right to respect or not to respect whomever I want! If you are one of the people I do not respect...too bad! Apparently, I do not feel you are worthy of my respect, which is my right!
AS IF BUSH EARNED RESPECT???
Oh now that was funny....thanks for the laugh, I needed that!!!!
Respect is earned. John McCain can....
respect him if he wishes; I will respect him when he earns it.

I do, however, respect his accomplishments. He has truly lived the American dream. That is one of my problems with him. He knows that you can, through ambition and hard work, go anywhere you want in this country. No one helped him, no one redistributed wealth to help him. He should try to guide people to take the path he took, not take from others to pay people to stay where they are. THAT I would respect.

There was a lot about McCain that I did not like...however, I did trust him and respect his lifetime of service to this country.

Only time will tell (to quote OP) what an Obama presidency will do to....or for...the country.
sorry, he has not yet earned my respect and blind faith ..
I did not decide who to vote for until 3 days before the election.

This blind faith people are espousing for OBama scares me as much as SOME (not all) of OBama's ideas!

My biggest concern -- so many promises .. that always is a red flag to me.

We should by nature be hopeful but wary at the same time.

HE will have my undying blind faith and support once he earns it.

He has my respect for being in the office of president, and I will try to honor his wishes and comply with what he "changes" ...

if he was a farmer and earned sm
money from it he must have paid taxes and paid into SS somehow. If not, she would not be eligible for SS benefits.
DH and I have worked hard and have earned everything

that we have and WE should decide who to give it to, not Nobama. We are living the American Dream and will be penalized for it. If your child got all A's in school and the teacher told you that some kids got C's and B's and your child would have to give up some of their A's so the others would be on equal ground, would you object? Probably so. There is no incentive in socialism to work hard to acheive things when you can have the gov't provide everything for you. Don't you people know that you are playing right into the hand's of more gov't? You are being fed a bunch of lies and you won't even realize it until it is too late.

okay - what do you think earned income credit is?
My sister pays no taxes - she has no taxes taken out of her check every week - she works a full time job, but she still every year gets back $5000-6000. Now why do you think that is any different than what you are talking about now? It is the same thing...
My dad was one of the "fat cats." And he earned

and deserved every penny he made.  Sometimes he took naps at work, sometimes he played cards at work, but that was the nature of his job.  They wanted the skilled labor guys there in case they were needed.  If they weren't needed, then oh well.  You act as though they were goofing off and not doing their job.  The reality is they were there to do their job when it was asked of them.

The guys and gals on the assembly line weren't doing their jobs half the time or were drunk or drinking when they came in and worked.  Building cars while drunk.  And if you want to know what the problem is with auto industry you don't have to look farther than Americans buying foreign made cars and the SUV.

Obama won't. Bush has earned
NM
But Bush is soooo bashable and he has earned
No matter how hard he ties to rewrite history and author his own legacy, he is destined to trump all previous contenders for the dubious distinction of the WORST president in history. You watch.
Respectable? Hah! He hasn't even earned trust yet!

Give it a few months for the media orgy/love fest to end then the scandals will begin (quite a few already). The dems are already at each other throats....this is gonna be good!

Yes, earned income credit, we pay our taxes....
Whaddya you make? 7 cents a line? LOL. You call that paying taxes? HAHAHAHA!
No, it's more than jus the earned income credit and kids.
This is adding in things like tuition and related school expenses, but not claiming the grant money they've recieved to pay for that - which you legally have to do. That's what makes me so mad!
Sorry, earned income credit, I have to pay taxes.....
I have no dependents, alas. I don't get food stamps or Welfare, either. Unlike you, the prophet, I will wait and see what direction our President takes us. You might be disappointed or I might be disappointed, but, obviously, it will all roll out in the end, won't it? Yes, I know about gas. Unfortunately for you, it has no escape route because you are too full of $hit to allow its escape. Sorry about the blockage.........honest, it isn't brain matter - it is fecal.
Time to stop the earned income tax credit
No more WELFARE period. Everybody can plant a small garden - even in pots. Go fishing and deer hunting for your meat. Tents are cheap - can walk or hitchhike to warmer climates so you're more comfortable. Live off the land! And let govt get smaller - no more handouts to ANYONE! If we did that, we wouldn't need roads or bridges - end that spending habit. Get rid of government completely. Everybody arm yourselves and live like they did in the old west. We are already well on our way to being a 3rd world country (even airports are dingy). Everybody is on their OWN. Consumerism would end. Who needs TV or iPods or computers or anything else? We're all gonna die anyway. Some sooner than others, but there's no way outta that one. If you don't make any money - you won't have to pay taxes.
Credibility

Credibility can be judged from what someone wrote on the chat board.  MT wrote that she will join the civilian corp in Iraq.  Obviously, she was not credible in that comment.  Now there is commentary that it doesn't matter, or that she didn't lie.  Gawd, it is so much like this administration it's laughable, but somehow it makes me feel like crying instead of laughing.  You say it won't matter in 100 years.  Well, it might.  The collective lies that got us into this war may matter to the relatives still alive of those killed in Iraq after 100 years.  So in a very small but important way it does matter.  It is symbolic of the web of lies bringing this whole country down.

By the way the civilian corps would include aid workers, truck drivers, engineers, etc.   This was most certainly not a rhetorical question, yet another lie on the part of one of the posters worried about manners.

No credibility again (sm)

And this from www.rightsidenews.com

Sing it sister!! Earned income tax credit most defintely is welfare.
But I bet very few people who receive it think of it that way. They just happily cash that refund check.
Speaking of credibility...
You promised to grace us with your absence before, yet your posts are multiplying like bunnies all over this board.  So much for YOUR credibility.
bush has no credibility
I believe and trust Chavez, any day..even Putin any day..Bush has no credibility anymore..actually, in my eyes, he never had credibility..I warned republican friends not to vote for him cause he would destroy America and the world and Roe vs Wade would be overturned..my insights are coming true..and actually the Americans who voted for Bush have no one to blame but themselves, unfortunately, ALL of us have to suffer the consequences..IMHO, I think Bush should stand trial for not heeding the warning given to him about terrorists flying planes into high buildings (given to him in 08/2001), for waging a war on LIES which he KNEW they were lies and on Katrina, which he was warned about..This guy is a fool and we are all paying the price for having a fool in the White House..
goldberg has no credibility
I know him through his words..Do you know him personally?  When a person puts his thoughts and ideas out there, he should expect criticism or praise.  I have chosen to criticize.  Hurt my credibility?  I believe through his words HE no longer has credibility.  However, for the radical right wingers, he is, I would assume, right up there with Limbaugh, Coulter, Carlson, people you believe even if they are acting like fools and lying through their teeth.  Something we who did not drink the Kool-Aid can see.
Well, he might have more credibility with the little people if he WOULD...
stand on a cardboard box. ANd it would be more in keeping with how he keeps saying he would like to be thought of.
Credibility Factor

Wow, if my in-laws (in their 80s) knew that they were looked upon like that, I'd get a black eye (and deserve it) Incidentally, they could do it, too. They travel abroad, work out, all that stuff.

Maybe we should get a little sampling of how many fossilized 70YOs there are out there. I'm embarrassed for you.

It also seems to me that anyone who could endure the worst imaginable torture for 5 years must be made of something.

Is that the best ya got?

He is not restoring credibility to the US
He's selling us out!!!!!!!

You need to get a grip and stop watching MSLSD.
They lost any credibility with me
when NOW and other 'institutional' feminists refused to condemn Bill Clinton's anti-female shenanigans.  Any feminists think he should not be having sex with interns and/or forcing himself on female campaign workers?  Anybody?  Hello?   cricket..cricket......cricket...cricket
You have no credibility. I doubt the veracity of everything you say.
.
Well, "dems", you have a big credibility deficit
nm
I agree. She will do fine and has MORE credibility
nm
What a joke. You no longer have any credibility. nm
.
It's called credibility of sources...

fact checking, research.....get the idea yet?  Again, rumors started by a person who won't even identify themself is not fact the last time I checked.

Oh, and by the way, why is it okay for this person to stay anonymous and not okay for the source of the infamous tape you like to talk about so much?

Not an ounce of credibility in sight.
you can keep on reinforcing the negativity and issue dodging that has been the cornerstone of this tanking your candidate, your party and his bankrupt campaign. One this is apparent. The fatal flaw that has marked these strategies is alive and well. You insult voters every single time you throw up this kind of trash and have totally underestimated the intelligent of the American electorate. 57 hours until E-day.
Ok, you brought back credibility to yourself LOL
I'm glad you laughed about my remark. I was waiting to get blasted. :-)

I read the link you provided. Good article. DH reads AOL. I won't read Fox or MSBNC or the others that have an agenda. I think she's a very smart woman and at least she understands the economics we are facing.

I do care about what she says and does in her state. I do hope we see more of her and am sure she has learned a lot because of the campaign. DH & I were saying that when she was running that if McCaina and she lost we would think about moving to Alaska to have her as our governor. However, winter is settling in up there and it's just a bit too cold for us (we would absolutely freeze).

Thanks again for the link - you restored my confidence in you. HA HA

Nope - your the one who lost your credibility
With your attacks on others who do not agree with you. Posting articles from only leftwing nutbag tabloid articles.

And it doesn't matter how many times you vary your name, we all know who you are.
You know, gt, these kind of statements lend you no credibility.
Do you know him personally?   Do you know people he knows?  Are you part of his life?  You do know he is a Democrat, right?   But of course, when Democrats say bad things about other Democrats they are OUT OF THE CLUB, or, in your words, Jerks.  You might try to broad your tunnel vision a little bit. It would make you appear at least partially objective.
Who's to judge credibility? Certainly not you or I on a chat board.
Just seems like a lot of negativism about nothing really.  But whatever.  Not worth worrying about.  In 100 years, who will care.  You waste way too much energy on here.  Get a real hobby.  It will improve your outlook!
Chicken Little/Cry Wolf Bush has no credibility.

He has lied to Americans and to the world so many times that if he actually made a mistake and told the TRUTH, nobody would be able to recognize it.

LOL at *pro-terrorist.*  Is that the *talking point* word of the day that you studied at the table while drinking your daily dose of Kool-Aid?   I'm not pro terrorist by any stretch of the imagination.  I'm also not gullible.  As far as bizarre, I think people who can't think for themselves, see the forest from the trees and continue to defend a known manipulative, deceitful liar until the end, regardless of facts to the contrary, are beyond bizarre.

And as far as J. C. Penney bills, check the date below.  As I said, this is nothing new.  I doubt you need to worry about your credit card bills, though.  Bush only attacks those who disagree with him or catch him in lies.  Ask Valerie Plame.

Pay too much and you could raise the alarm

By BOB KERR
The Providence Journal

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Walter Soehnge is a retired Texas schoolteacher who traveled north with his wife, Deana, saw summer change to fall in Rhode Island and decided this was a place to stay for a while.

So the Soehnges live in Scituate now and Walter sometimes has breakfast at the Gentleman Farmer in Scituate Village, where he has passed the test and become a regular despite an accent that is definitely not local.

And it was there, at his usual table last week, that he told me that he was madder than a panther with kerosene on his tail.

He says things like that. Texas does leave its mark on a man.

What got him so upset might seem trivial to some people who have learned to accept small infringements on their freedom as just part of the way things are in this age of terror-fed paranoia. It's that everything changed after 9/11 thing.

But not Walter.

We're a product of the '60s, he said. We believe government should be way away from us in that regard.

He was referring to the recent decision by him and his wife to be responsible, to do the kind of thing that just about anyone would say makes good, solid financial sense.

They paid down some debt. The balance on their JCPenney Platinum MasterCard had gotten to an unhealthy level. So they sent in a large payment, a check for $6,522.

And an alarm went off. A red flag went up. The Soehnges' behavior was found questionable.

And all they did was pay down their debt. They didn't call a suspected terrorist on their cell phone. They didn't try to sneak a machine gun through customs.

They just paid a hefty chunk of their credit card balance. And they learned how frighteningly wide the net of suspicion has been cast.

After sending in the check, they checked online to see if their account had been duly credited. They learned that the check had arrived, but the amount available for credit on their account hadn't changed.

So Deana Soehnge called the credit-card company. Then Walter called.

When you mess with my money, I want to know why, he said.

They both learned the same astounding piece of information about the little things that can set the threat sensors to beeping and blinking.

They were told, as they moved up the managerial ladder at the call center, that the amount they had sent in was much larger than their normal monthly payment. And if the increase hits a certain percentage higher than that normal payment, Homeland Security has to be notified. And the money doesn't move until the threat alert is lifted.

Walter called television stations, the American Civil Liberties Union and me. And he went on the Internet to see what he could learn. He learned about changes in something called the Bank Privacy Act.

The more I'm on, the scarier it gets, he said. It's scary how easily someone in Homeland Security can get permission to spy.

Eventually, his and his wife's money was freed up. The Soehnges were apparently found not to be promoting global terrorism under the guise of paying a credit-card bill. They never did learn how a large credit card payment can pose a security threat.

But the experience has been a reminder that a small piece of privacy has been surrendered. Walter Soehnge, who says he holds solid, middle-of-the-road American beliefs, worries about rights being lost.

If it can happen to me, it can happen to others, he said.

Chavez lost a lot of credibility with his UN antics...sm
Even in the most democratic circles, which I travel in. He made a mockery, not of Bush, but himself. Anything credible he had to say went out the window with *smells of sulfa.*

I agree with JDH, once I determine a person is a whacko I don't put much stock in what they have to say.
JM credibility on moderate inclusive bipartisan
nm
There is no credibility in any single part of this story
including at the $800,000 expense claim, since the whole thing is based on a fantasy whichg arises out of a false premise. You may have noticed that the other 2 posts directly below regarding this trash have gone unanswered all day long, and you will not be engaging me in any further beating of this dead, dead horse. The fanatic/broken record comment is all I care to post as the rest of it is simply a huge waste of time and energy. We all know that when the Supreme Court dismisses this tomorrow it will not phase a single solitary fanatic and they will continue their quest to nowhere until they run out of money. Fanatics, every last one of them.
You have lost all credibility with your Bush and America hatred. sm
You have no idea what the former presidents would have done.  Republicans don't shackle themselves to a ditch and ride the wave of fame on the bodies of their dead children.
Well, this post has brought the credibility, class and dignity of this board to ZERO! NM
LOSERS!
Typical, make a nasty comment and run. You have no credibility with anyone with any brains. nm
.
With all due respect,

all the posts I've seen you post have come across to me as very confrontational.  You seem to be limited to posting only posts that defend these three, and I haven't seen you post anything on any political issue -- just confronting posters and complaining about their behavior, sympathizing with poor AG, Nan and MT.  That's ALL you've posted on this board, and to say it was YOU who was attacked shows, at the very least, the very same mindset that precludes you from seeing things objectively.  Afraid I have to agree with GT above.  I, too, smell a conservative in liberal clothing, and it also wouldn't surprise me if you were either one of those three or one who is very closely allied with them.

But I will take you at your word that this is your last post.  In addition, I will make this my last post to you.  I'm happy that at least temporarily we're free of all the intolerance and hatred and rage and battles that ensue when those three are around.  I refuse to get back into that, and I feel that you're trying to take me down that path, and I'm not buying it.

Have a blessed day.

With all due respect.
One source is a personal blog. Those are strictly opinion pieces and carry no weight on either side.  The Chicago Sun piece is more interesting, but merely makes vague statements without a single name of anyone who is bashing.  Now don't get me wrong, I have serious concerns with President Bush, stem cell research not being one of them.  I am alarmed at the big government policies and also at the illegal alien fiasco (which I am reading has some surprises in store).  At any rate, this really is a nonstory.  Remember when Lieberman gave the speech on the Senate floor criticizing Clinton.  It happens.  I feel no connection to the country club wing of the republican party (any more than the country club wing of the democratic party).  They certainly don't speak for me.
With all due respect..

... it doesn't say very much about an Army mom who would use his service -- his putting his life on the line -- in order to try to bully, shame and coerce people who would rather see her son home with his family and safe.

It doesn't say very much about an Army mom who would sacrifice her own flesh and blood because she's too busy worshiping a very false idol in Bush.

But most of all it doesn't say very much about a president who couldn't care less about her son, a president who has recklessly, negligently and uncaringly tossed America's young people into harm's way for an unnecessary, very possible illegal war.

I honor her son, and I respect his courage very much.  I thank him for putting his life on the line in service to his country.  And I profusely apologize to him for the way his life has been devalued by Bush.  Maybe if Bush had the integrity and courage to actually serve in a war himself, he wouldn't be so hasty about killing our young people.  Her son, by virtue of having the courage to serve, is way, way, WAY above George Bush in the integrity and courage categories. Wouldn't we be fortunate if someday her son went on to become president?  He's already more fit to serve than Bush is.

I hope and pray that he can return home to his family (where he belongs) and that his return is safe and without injury.  I'm just very, very sorry that his mother can't see that just because we don't worship an idiot like she does, that doesn't mean we don't support our troops because we want them safe and home with their families instead of fighting an unnecessary, immoral war.

No respect
No respect for the owners of this board who have requested republicans/conservatives to not post here..Do I have to report you?
With all due respect...yes you did...
you posted that you loved to find the errors and do the research. That certainly implies that you enjoy trying to prove people wrong. And that is fine, if that is what trips your trigger. Again, what I said was we had more social programs, and again, the comparison to other nations, I would like to know what other nations and their population in relation to ours before I put a lot of stock in the data. Respectfully.
With all due respect...sm
*Civil debate* has not gotten us anywhere. In order for there to be debate BOTH sides would have to listen to each other, and meet somewhere in the middle.
With all due respect, I
disagree. I have read the words Dems and lefties and socialists used interchangeably. Look through the archives and I did not say it was you.
Respect
Well, I find the posts title a bit disrespectful. I mean, I wouldn't come to the conservative board and post with a title "Glad to not be a republican." Seems to me like "Me" was looking to stir the pot with that title.
With all due respect...
the moderator has posted several times that we can cross post. Apparently the moderator does believe in freedom of expression.

If "most of you" want to speak among yourselves, don't answer my posts, don't pile on with the crass remarks that are totally unnecessary. To coin your own words, ignore me. Quash dissent. Be intolerant of other views. To each his/her own.

There are those on the liberal board who do not mind a discussion and are actually able to do so in true liberal fashion without the personal gotchas. And as far as the gotchas...I only gave as I got. At least there were those true liberals who did not mind...but I believe you quashers have run them all off too.

So, if you do not wish to have a discussion, certainly your right. Don't answer my posts.

And...just a side note...liberal posters cross over too, and I have yet to ask them to get on back to their "own" board or stay on their own board. You see...I don't just say I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of expression...I act on it...unlike you.
