Spector has had a few bouts with cancer and now this is his way to get out without retiring. That's what that is all about. He wll blame it on not being re-elected, but I doubt he wants to be re-elected. He did state he only got re-elected this term by 1%. So, if he didn't want out, why would he buck the pubs that were left in PA.

He's switching parties to be sure, and he hasn't done anything for PA lately due to his cancers. While I don't blame him for not being able to keep up, it's no reason for him to be a turncoat. In fact, he was a closet dem for years. So, come to think of it, he may win re-election because of it, but I will not vote for him.

Seriously though, elsewhere in Ohio foods to be eaten off premises are not taxable, but the soda in the same carryout order is because it is not considered food. I actually do have a friend who could not buy tomato juice (an ingredient in the soup she was going to make) with food stamps. And forget about buying anything carbonated. According to the USDA when it comes to food stamps, hot food, even take-out, is not eligible, unless by the special exemption that is mentioned in that text in my previous post (from USDA site.) According to that site, seeds for gardening to produce food are even eligible.

Restricting food stamp participants� purchases of foods and beverages high in calories, fats, and/or sugars has been proposed as a strategy to combat obesity. In 2004, the State of Minnesota unsuccessfully requested permission from USDA to prohibit the purchase of candy and soft drinks with food stamp benefits. The proposed modification was clearly intended to promote diet quality by limiting purchase of �empty calorie� foods.

So it seems that in some places, food stamps actually ARE considered sort of a birthday present that you can spend any way you wish. Maybe y'all should move up here where the mooches are less offensive?

Naturally her supporters are disappointed and some are over the top with it. Hillary will not be a sore loser and, on the contrary, she will support Obama and encouage her supporters to as well, watch and see. I'm not a supporter of hers either. It was a hard fought contest, that is what democracy is about. She fought the fight, lost, and will do everything that she can to support Obama and unify the party.

And as far as Nan having a *civil* long conversation with anyone, ESPECIALLY if MT was involved, I've never seen that happen anywhere on the Conservative board. They don't know what civility is. All they do is attack, bully, gang up and chase away those who don't agree with them.
