(Didn't Jesus have something very wise and definite to say about that?), insult and degrade "heathens" if their spiritual beliefs are not EXACTLY those of the mainstream right, even though they supposedly love this country which was founded on religious freedom and tolerance for ALL; cast stones every which way (Jesus also had a lot of good stuff to say about that)....yeah, they can proclaim to know it all if they do it under the "true Christian" banner. Here is a question. If you died this second and had to defend some of these insulting inflammatory statement on this board, other than the fact of saying to Him "I was being a Christian," do you think Jesus would take that as an excuse, or would he shake his head in sadness that you really didn't get "all of the story" of the New Testament, where love, tolerance, mercy, forgiveness, and HUMILITY wer preached to all???????

I agree, but there are atheists and others besides Christians on this board

who think the religious posts are trying to shove their ideals down their throat which I know is not true, but it isn't really fair to the others.

Wellthe Klan might thing their Christians but real Christians don't consider them that sm

They are a radical group calling themselves Christians, like AL Queda calls themselves Muslim.

What I have said consistently...(sm)

about christianity (and any other religion for that matter) is that it doesn't belong in politics.  And so far, because of my views, I have been called anything and everything up to and including the antichrist.

However, in case you haven't noticed, this is a board to discuss politics, not a gossip column.  I'm not here to find a BFF, simply to discuss politics.  If you don't like my posts, don't read them.

I have been saying this on this board for some time.
But you said it better.  The terrorists are REJOICING at the win of the Democrats.  They have their dancing shoes on.  They prefer one, but preferably many mushroom clouds over American cities. Rumsfeld said in his goodbye speech that this was a little understood war.  He is right.  It is little understood because it has been politicized to death and only a handful had their hands on the wheel.  Our being in Iraq did not inflame the jihadists.  We did nothing to provoke 9/11 and all the other numerous acts of terrorism before that.  However, our inaction at striking back against those other acts of terrorism culminated in 9/11.  The blame goes all the way back to Carter and his appeasement policies and the Iran hostage crisis and his abandonment of the Shah of Iran.  Each administration since then shares in the blame.  George Bush was the first president to actually take on the terrorists and now they want to impeach him.  Failure to understand that the islamofascists are going to come for us has been mind boggling to me, but many on this board are of the cut and run cloth.  My son and I were in the American Legion this morning.  My son is in the National Guard and he had his Command Sgt Major uniform on because he is going to be in a Veteran's Day parade today.  Some of the men at the bar were talking about Iraq and one of them said he was so glad the Democrats were in power now so we could get the h**l out of Iraq. I felt my son stiffen up at my side and he slowly turned and gave that man a measuring stare.  No one said anything.  It's hard to believe there are so many people who are just so ignorant.  Thanks for the post.  I am going to show it to my son.
A new all time low for this board
nm
Agreed. Problem is that concept consistently
nm
You are welcome on the conservative board any time! SM
 Come on over!
I have been on the board a long time. SM
I saw someone on the conservative board being wished to die and burn in hell once.  And there were a lot of other really bad things. Just because it isn't on the first page, doesn't mean it is there.   The suggestion has been made time and time again, not to go to the board if you can't handle it, and you just keep doing it and then whine about it.  What's up with that. I know I am going to get creamed when I come here. Have you ever ONCE heard me whine about it?  I don't THINK so.  There's the difference.  The right is up to here with the left putting the military at risk with their appeasement behavior and we are not feeling like being nice about it.  If you can't take it, stay away. It really is as simple as that.
and your board is dead most of the time anyway
You all can't discuss issues among yourselves, because you have no ideals.  All of you are so different in your ideolgies that you don't even discuss amongst yourselves.  You all have no glue, nothing to bond you together except...oh let's not forget the one thing is that you all hate Bush and conservatives.  Other than that.nothing, zilch, nada.  It's really amazing to see that the conservative board talks about human interest issues and other topics, but liberals, those who are supposed to be all about human issues and solving social problems seem to do nothing but bash, bash, bash.  There's no problem solving going on in the democratic party nor is there any problem solving going on here.  It's obvious to anyone who comes to these boards who are the most active politically and socially and that's the conservatives.  We don't always agree about our president and some of us differ in ideals, but we have some set moral values that we go by, unlike you all where it's anything goes...so you all end up going no where.
First time posting on board
Just had to say I agree. I cannot stand Elizabeth. She's always right and never wrong. She knows it all.
No not Christians, just far right wing radical Christians who,,,sm
believe that God speaks directly only to them and do not welcome anyone who does not have their beliefs.
Consistently hates white people? Yes, very consistent. nm

We have been saying this on the C board a long time. Agree. NM

...

Please don't read this board

for accurate information regarding the candidates.  I have seen so much misinformation here and there are a couple of people who constantly distort the truth and make things up.  If you want the truth, get it from the newpapers and news programs and make an educated decision.  Most of the news programs are putting accurate information out there, with the excpetion of Fox and MSNBC.

Better read the board again, almost everyone on it

For the last time, Obama was on a board with Ayers REPUBLICANS ARE STILL and
Obama's involvement was minimal and Ayers is NOT a threat to the US. After 911 were they looking at him? no.

Some on this board can only read what they want to read (nm)
x
You might want to read the letter on the other board.
The one from the young Marine who says that the fighting forces in Iraq feel that the antiwar movement is enabling and strengthening the forces they are fighting.  If that is not putting our troops in danger, I am not sure what is.
The way some read the board, you can't take their observations very seriously.
Some people only see what they want to see, and what they set out to see.

Let's not be stupidly single-eyed here. You can pick out any person on the board (those who sign a name, at least) and screech that they're generalizing, and you'd be right - including you and including me. Big fat so what. We do it to make a point quickly or to give a general subject view or for a lot of reasons - but we all know that when we diss the rich we're not talking about every single rich person in the world, we're talking about that particular group of them whose ethics and moral values we find repugnant.

It would make discussion totally impossible if we had to qualify every reference we make to certain groups or political parties and single out every detail in a reference when people following the conversation ought to know to whom we are referring - that's just normally expected in a rapid fire conversation, at least for those who are genuinely interested in one.

How many skinheads do you think read this board...
or pay attention to what any of us might say? Get a grip!! Reverend Wright is all over the internet. THAT is the kind of thing that inflames skinheads and their ilk. His wife saying for the first time in her adult life she is proud of her country. THAT is the kind of thing that incites skinheads. Have you read the black liberation theology statement?

You are the one who needs to get real. I am on no "high horse." I don't care what color Obama is. He is a socialist, bordering on Marxist, and THAT is my problem with him, and would be my problem with him if he was white. Or Hispanic. Or Asian. Or any OTHER color.
This board is for anyone FREE, I can read anything I want.
I just don't have to post. I'm not looking for trouble. You are with your hateful posts.
Do you read anything except the posting board?
The cause of our economic meltdown was the housing meltdown. You can't blame that one on Bush. He and old McCain have been warning about it for years, but the majority Dem Congress (especially Mr. Frank and Mr. Dodd) turned a blind eye to the whole thing. Mr. Frank is on video saying, loosely quoted, "Doesn't matter if Fannie and Freddie fail. The government won't bail them out." It was all that bad fannie and freddie paper that those wall street types had bought up that crashed the market when all those bad mortgages went south...bad mortgages that the Dems insisted be given out, to people who they knew could not afford the payments, so "every american could have the american dream." Well, now we have the american nightmare. If you want to stay in denial and somehow claim this was Bush's fault, go ahead. Does not change the truth of what happened. I don't agree with everything Bush did for sure. But the "pubs" as you guys like to call them are on the right side of this issue.

And it doesn't take a Messiah...or petty hatefulness...to figure this out. Look at what is happening, what Obama has done so far, and if you can see the silver lining, please to show it to me.

I have a friend in Massachusetts who is as liberal a Democrat as they come, and he told me yesterday, about Obama: "He IS a socialist. No doubt about it." It only took him 2 months to realize it...after a year of telling me he wasn't. So, not all you are wearing blinders. lol. And a socialist is what it is, and does what it does. This country functioned beautifully on capitalism for many years and it would have recovered on capitalism as it had in the past. But Mr. Obama is doing his dead level best to kill that, kill the entrepreneurial spirit, kill ambition, kill what made this country great. If Obama really cared about the poor and unfortunate he would put them to work, not pay them to vegetate. Trite though it sounds...they need a hand pulling them up, not pushing them down.
If you actually took the time to read...(sm)

anything for yourself, you would find that the sources for the charts I posted are, in fact, on the images.  It's called reading comprehension, studying history, looking at the facts....you know, all that stuff you guys don't like to do.

As for the text, that's all mine.  It came with the education.

Does anybody else get error messages half the time they try to post on this board. ?
.
Post it on the con board. I'll read it. nm

You might want to read another article by an Iranian on the other board.
It helps to know both sides of the story and since I am pretty sure Beth is not in Iran right now, or Iranian in nationality, the one who IS there might have a better handle on things. Get the picture?
That's the most sensible thing I've read on this board
in a looooong time.  Why should somebody who works hard (or inherits) for their money have to pay more taxes than someone who makes (or inherits) less money.  Everybody paying the same - that is equality.
I won't read these articles - the last time I did so,
No thanks!
For the last time, READ THE ARTICLE.
x
I am still amazed by how some of you think....
how narrow minded you are, and how you worry what goes on in the bedroom - which is THE main problem!! For your information, homosexuality was taken off the DSM list in 1975 as sexual deviation.

For those who think it is a choice, how wrong you are. I knew I was gay since about 5 years of age and believe me, I would never chose this type of life as it is very hurtful and very hard because of homophobic people who insist on getting involved in my life.

I tried your so-called normal life - I hated every minute of it. I denied who and what I was because of fear. I came to terms with my homosexuality and am very happy that I did.

We really just want to be left alone - to live our life as you - without hate. I agree that there are a lot of gay people who go overboard but there are more straight people who do - such as comparing us with pornographers, etc.

I have found out through life that the homophobes who scream the loudest are usually latent!! Mmmmmm.
Read the post I made above. This time it was...
Democrat greed or ignorance...I don't know which...but either way they are responsible.
Great book everyone should read at this time... SM
'The Forgotten Man' by Amity Shlaes. Explains the recession of the 20s and the depression of the 30s and how it all happened. It wasn't the fault of pubs or dems - this had never happened before and no one knew what to do. What actually got us out of the depression wasn't stimulus or tax breaks or cuts in spending - It was WWII.
Then you didn't read the article on the conservative board. nuff said.

Wow. Never cease to be amazed...sm
But I can appreciate a person who says what's on their mind and not dance around the issue, however wrong she may be.

Outlaw abortion so we can have more cheap labor and then we won't need the Mexicans ~ That's what she's saying here. She's already chalked up the aborted to cheap labor.
He is full of nothing but hot air. Amazed at the following he has.
fffffffffffffffffff
What I am MORE amazed and astounded about is...
that people on this board BUY that hook, line, and sinker, and even when the truth is right there in front of them...talk about stubbornly clinging.
I am amazed that you are saying, I quote
'Everyone said ''give the guy a chance'' and this is what he's doing with it. I am NOT impressed so far...'

On WHAT grounds did people say this?

Did people also say 'Give McCain a chance' or didn't they?

I really wonder that O is supposed to justify EVERY, EVERY MOVE AND STEP he makes.

It's really too bad you didn't take the time to read the entire transcript
of what William Bennett said, Democrat.  But I am not surprised.
First time I've read that quote...scary (nm)

If y'all have a lot of time to read a 450 page report,

check this out. It has some interesting info: Part 1 is a synopsis and most interesting is pages 8,9,10, and 11. I got as far as Pt. 3 and there is a table of contents on the first few pages to explain everything that is in that part of the report.

Perfect time to re-read Atlas Shrugged
just sayin' fiction often predicts events.
I am amazed at the number of people...sm
Who would vote democrat this year but are not simply because Obama is half black.  I have heard this more times than I can say.  I live in the south and I know there are sometimes racist people here.  I am a southerner myself, born here.  But I believe Obama is a better choice because we can't endure another 4 years of the same policies Bush has.  Some people have even said I don't like McCain but I won't vote for a black president.  Well I don't care what color he is.  I want to give someone with new policies a chance.  He may not be good but he may.  The fact that people are being so prejudice for his skin color is just ridiculous.  It is just an unbelievable amount of people who are saying this around here.  I went to a halloween party and everyone was like oh my gosh we may have a black president.  I am like oh well if he can do the job what does it matter?  I am like well if he was white based on his policies would you vote for him?  If the answer is yes then that is just being prejudice.  I am not for interracial couples or any of that but when you can't even vote for a black person you have problems.
I am always amazed at how naive some people are....s/m
He's doing this to enable his admistration, and Congress, the ability to take this country as far and hard to the left, and as fast as he possibly can.

He has a purpose, and it's not for the good welfare of our country.

It's to put our entire country "ON" welfare, and grow the government. This is a major takeover, and you're right about one thing.

He's as transparent as glass to the rest of us.

And we don't want what he's about to bring us to, to our knees with government control over every aspect of our lives.

At least I have the comfort of knowing I didn't vote for him.

Now THAT's the smartest thing I've read in a long time! nm

East Ohio Gas has been using natural gas to fuel their utility trucks for years - why hasn't that caught on?  Makes ya wonder..............

I agree, great quote! I am amazed that for the 2+ days ...sm
that this has been posted, you did not get a single response. The only way we are going to get anything accomplished is to work together as Americans. I guess some just don't get it.
So you and your buds bash us on *your* board and suddenly, once you reach this board,

some respect?

You publicly post on the other board that you *try not to visit the bog of eternal stench.*

Well, doesn't look like you are trying all that hard. Or is that another example of Conservative honesty, like your buddy on the other board lies 3 times before suddenly deciding to be *up front* (in her own words) about the whole bogus line of crap she was spouting.

You and your 2 friends don't respect anyone unless they're a member of your little club, think exactly as you think, belong to the same political party as you belong, and believe in the very same little narrow SUBsection of one particular religion.

That's what I interpret from YOUR WRITTEN WORDS.  Your posts don't show respect.  They only show twisted *facts*, ignorance, anger and hatred.

You can't be *respectful* on your own board but suddenly, when you come here - HERE - the place YOU call *the bog of eternal stench* you suddenly discover some respectability during your mouse click from there to here?

Please.  Some of us aren't as stupid as you think we are.

You're becoming quite a bore.  You and your friends stated you don't want us on your board, but you're not happy unless you're picking a fight.  You and your *gang* told us to leave and not to post on *your* board.  Maybe that should work both ways.

Out of ALL the problems with radical Conservatives, maybe the most annoying thing is that you don't believe in equality at all.  You believe in SUPERIORITY.  Somewhere along the line, someone made you think you were special and above everyone else.  Sheesh!  You're not happy unless you're dictating to everyone else in the country what they're allowed to do in their own personal lives regarding life, death, science, etc. You even think YOUR GOD IS BETTER than everyone else's.

You want to make the rules, censor people and tell them which boards they can and cannot post on, but YOU want to invade them all and spew your ignorance and hatred.

In my heart, I believe there are sincere, honest, intelligent Conservatives out there who are capable of a sensible debate.  I've seen them.  (I hope you don't chase them away, too.)  But and your crew don't fall in that category, and this will be the last of your inane posts I will subject myself to.

Talk about stench. Just read your very own posts.

Can we bring the board back to the true reason for the board

Can we get the political board back to the true purpose of this board – to share opinions of why we like our candidate.  Not bash and cut down others because they don’t agree with you.

I stayed away from this board for the past couple days because anyone who had anything positive to say about Sarah Palin got slammed, bashed, kicked down, etc.  After awhile I found it all too draining, and was not seeing any reason to come.  Yes, I did see some of it towards people who favored Barack Obama, but if you read the posts again it is mostly towards anyone who favored Sarah Palin/John McCain.

I thought the political board was for posting information regarding politics and candidates.  What I have seen for the past few days is that it has been an attack board.  Especially if you have anything positive you want to share about Sarah Palin.  You say something good about her and you get attacked, you answer back, and you get attacked more, and then when you get mad and pretty much say stop attacking me, they come back with this “Geez, I’m allowed to have an opinion”.

Another thing I am tired of seeing is the slanderous, hate filled, really off the wall comments about Sarah Palin.  The latest was something about her daughter actually had her baby.  Talk about just bizarre comments.  I thought what’s next, she’s an alien from another planet?  The more I kept reading the more the comments were getting just really weird and bizarre.  Of course nobody ever having any proof of any of these allegations.  I then came to realize that the posters were just trying to get a fight going.

I also saw posts that had nothing to do with politics but attacking a poster named Sam.  Again, probably trying to get another fight going for no good reason and on things that have nothing to do whatsoever with politics.  I’ve read “Sam is like an annoying nat that you sway away”, “Sam, please let me know where you work” or “she must have her quota” or “sam is to the politics board as oracle is to the”  This childish rhetoric is getting old.  I’m not defending sam she is a big girl and I can see by her posts she can take care of herself, but my point is that this has nothing to do with politics.  If you want a fight maybe you could request that the administrator create a separate “fight and degrade” section.

I’ve read the administrators post a couple different times called Beware of Flaming.  She/he said as long as we realize that not everyone is going to agree we shouldn’t wear our feelings on our sleeves and a little more oversight on here would be good.  Let people express his or her opinion and move on.  If you don’t like someone just ignore that person. “It’s not rocket science, you know” (I liked that statement)

I consider posting on this board a privilege and not a right.  If you don’t agree with something and you post that you don’t agree and state the facts why (and are civilized about it) that’s one thing, but when you bash and degrade others without showing proof and just want to start fights and belittle others it just seems a bit juvenile to me.

I come to the politics board to hear ideas and stuff (facts) about the candidates.  That is how I’m learning about each one, but I don’t want to read people attack other posters for no good reason.  I'd like to hear about Obama/Biden & McCain/Palin, but I want to hear facts.

If you like to fight so much why don’t you pick on people that you can fight to face to face.

You mean Christians.
Is that what you are talking about?  What other board?
That may be so....but Christians, at least the ones I know...
do not want to control the government. And too many times a strictly moral issue is ascribed to a "religious nut." Take abortion for example. There are nonreligious people who are against abortion, strictly on moral grounds, that it is wrong to kill innocent life. There are liberals who are against abortion for that reason...their reasoning is that you can't be against war because it kills and be for abortion, because it kills. That is their reasoning. For me, the basic moral precept of not committing murder should apply to the unborn as well as the "born" and that basic moral precept is enhanced by my faith. Everything I know about Jesus tells me his heart breaks every time an abortion occurs. Because of my faith, my heart also hurts for those millions of lives ended. People talk on and on and on about individual freedoms...yet walk all over the most basic of those...the right to life. Somehow people think they have the right to choose whether someone gets to live or not live. And I think that is way too much power...for one individual to have over the life of another. In any other case of that, when a person exercises that kind of power...it is illegal, it is wrong, it is murder, or manslaughter, or whatever you want to call it. And then you get into the business of defining when life starts. It is just my opinion that that is not a decision that is up to us. And an opinion I am entitled to. People protest the death penalty. No one calls them fanatics. To me there is no difference...lethal injection, abortion. Both kill. Sure, one has comitted a crime, which only makes the other more heinous. What crime did that developing child commit?

I do not say that to start an abortion thread. It is just to illustrate a point. I, as a Christian, believe in a moral code. I believe you should care about your fellow man, and churches in this country used to take care of the poor and weak in this country, before such a thing as a social program. No one had to force us to do it, we just did it. That kind of serving attitude, in my opinion, is good in public servants. They do need to serve a cause greater than themselves, and in their case I am not saying it is God. I am saying it is the American people. If more lawmakers listened to their Christian teachings they would do so. Not just serving God in their everyday lives, but serving the American people, because that is their job.

I agree it is not up to lawmakers to project their beliefs on an entire nation. Again there is the issue of abortion. That is not a "religious" issue. It is a moral issue...there are many nonreligious people who believe that it is wrong. Just like people believe other things are wrong and seek to legislate against those. Not from "religious" grounds, but moral grounds.

And you shouldn't characterize all Christians with the radicals. We are exhorted not to characterize all Muslims as terrorists. Just afford Christians the same courtesy, that's all I am saying.
no wonder christians have a bad name
Wow, aren't you a little smarty pants. So glad the whole world isn't just like you. I'm a Jew, we believe G-d's name is sacred and don't like to write it out unless it is going to be protected. Maybe you should go to h*ll because you don't seem to be a good example of how a christian should behave.

I have faith in G-d, and my people have for many, many years, long before there was a Jesus.

Well, not all Christians, but most of the
one on this board. I am a diest myself.
