Then looks like your gonna be weeping

Posted By: are approving marriage of gays and lesbians on 2009-04-06
In Reply to: All the states can approve - Patty

As more and more states start to adopt gay marriage. To be able to give the opportunity for two people who love each other to be able to take vows and commit their lives to each other, well you can sit and weep about it because whether you want to believe it or not their vows will be taken in the sight and blessings of God (or whichever deity anyone believes in).

The vows clearly state...

"we are gathered here in the sight of God and in the presence of these witnesses, to join ___________ and ___________ in holy matrimony"

and

"which is an honorable estate, instituted of God in the time of man's innocence, signifying to us the mystical union which is between Christ and His Church" (glad it doesn't say between Patty and her church, it says between Christ and His Church).

and

Into which holy estate ___________ and ___________ come now to be joined and to unite two hearts and lives, blending all interest, sympathies, and hopes. I charge and entreat you, therefore, in entering upon and sustaining this hallowed union, to seek the favor and blessing of Him whose favor is life, whose blessing maketh rich and addeth no sorrow. Let us now seek His blessing."

and

Our Heavenly Father, we beseech Thee to come by Thy grace to this marriage. Give to these who marry a due sense of the obligations they are now to assume, so that with true intent, and with utter unreserve of love, they may plight their troth, and be henceforth helps, meet for each other while they journey through life. This we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

So...just because you don't approve of gay marriage and you don't think it's a reality doesn't make it the truth. The reality is people take their vows in the sight of God and God loves everyone. Nobody needs you or anyone to approve of it or not. They will be legally married with a marriage license and all. Whether you think it's reality or not is of such little importance. The two people devoting their lives to each other in the sight of God believe it is important, and they will finally be afforded a human right which should have never been kept from them to begin with. I for one am very happy and will push whatever is necessary to get it approved in our state.

As for your viewpoints, yeah the asylum is right and it's best just to ignore you completely.

im not gonna lie...
I haven't seen the other sides families!
Only Michelle actually, and she really rubs me the wrong way, but I like Obama!
So, what's everyone gonna do with their
big $13 a week?
gonna watch it
Im gonna watch the comet explode.  I think its Sunday night.  Gotta check..however, whenever it is, I will be out there watching my beautiful uncluttered unsmogged desert sky.
change is gonna come
I gotta tell ya, I dont believe it is true.  I live in an extremely republican conservative bible belt air force area (what the heck am I doing here..smile) and the democrat party through the 1990s was doing okay but the republican party sure was flourishing.  I have seen through the 2000s the democratic party has grown quite a bit and more people moving into this rural area are signing on to the democratic party.  We also have a lot of unions here, Farm Workers and such as this is a major area where immigrant workers pick crop year round.  Well, the unions have pushed for the democratic party and its working.  This reminds me of the 1990s with Newt Gingrich, he was gonna change America.  Well he is no where now.  Americans might be apolitical most of the time but when they get fed up, they get fed up and they vote their frustration and with this administration, there is so much distrust, knowlege that Bush lied about war and our brave military has paid the price, the deficit will affect my children and my childrens children, the policies he has passed do not benefit me or the working class, only the corporations.  Change is gonna come..its frustrating waiting for the change but its gonna come.
I'm gonna vote for sure
I already know who I am voting for for pres, but I am still on the fence for congress/senate. Thanks for the info.
Well of course they will......you think they gonna blame
@
You ain't gonna like losing.
Found this on another political message board and thought it might be an interesting read here. I know we don't all hold the same opinions on the war and on President Bush, but take a couple of minutes to read this and give it some thought.

This is from: 'You ain't gonna like losing.'

Author unknown.

President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on
terrorism. But the mistake was not his decision to go to
war in Iraq . Bush's mistake came in his belief that
this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII.
It is not.

Back then, they had just come out of a vicious depression.
The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression,
but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew
that the people had elected their leaders, so it was the
people's duty to back those leaders.

Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together,
rallied behind, and stuck with their leaders, whether they
had voted for them or not or whether the war was going
badly or not.

And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as
great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties
in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war.
But that did not matter. The people stuck with the
President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans
put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to
win that war.

Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old
pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to
gather scrap metal for the war effort. Grade school
students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to
help the effort.

Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age
or condition trying their best to join the military.

Women doubled their work to keep things going at home. Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap, to
butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.

You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling
the President. Interestingly enough in those days there
were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to
visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and
complain to them about our President. Instead, they made
upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the
troops' morale. And a bunch even enlisted.

And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the
day off with a Pledge of Allegiance, and with prayers for
our country and our troops!

Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain
weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to
cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared
complain about what we were doing to catch spies.. A
newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it
had complaine d that German or Japanese soldiers were being
'tortured' by being forced to wear women's
underwear, or subjected to interrogation by a woman, or
being scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning.

There were a lot of things different back then. We were not
subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography,
perversion and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did
not have legions of crack heads, dope pushers and armed
gangs roaming our streets.

No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling
of terrorism. He made the mistake of believing that we
still had the courage and fortitude of our fathers. He
believed that this was still the country that our fathers
fought so dearly to preserve.

It is not the same country. It is now a cross between
Sodom and Gomorra and the land of Oz. We did unite for a
short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we
found out that defending our country would require some sacrifices.

We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic
Muslims. They believe that it is okay, even their duty, to
kill anyone who will not convert to Islam. It has been
estimated that about one third or over three hundred
million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists cause...
Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many
potential recruits. So... We either win it - or lose it -
and you ain't gonna like losing.

America is not at war. The military is at war.

America is at the mall, or watching the movie stars.

(Remember Obama said in his book 'Audacity of
Hope', 'I will stand with the Muslims should the
political winds shift in an ugly direction'.....what
better place for the Muslims to control our country, than
in the office of the President of USA .
If you think all that's gonna end after the election,
.
Vie, Vie, Vie ahhh what are we gonna do with u?
honey, you were the OP (that means Original Poster) to this thread.  You are the same Vie right that posted the OP (that means original post) ?  Because there could be another Vie out there trying to make you look bad.  Not that you need much help.
Well, who is he gonna invite?
nm
not even gonna argue
i KNOW i have way more on you

But I would really like you to point out how i have spewed hatred in a racism form? That offends me like nothing else and I think you should apologize. You can flame me for politics or whatever else, but to call me racist is the most vile disgusting inappropriate thing to say to someone like me, you dont know my past or my present and you have no idea what that could mean to someone like me so why dont you take it upon yourself to apologize for that nasty comment about me being racist. That is shameful and hurtful.
not that i really expect people like you to care.

And on a side note, my man knows everything about me!
and you think Obama is gonna sm
bring all the jobs back to the US? You are living in a rose colored world my dear! You will see when it all hits the fan and then it will be too late. BTW, I have much right to the conversation as anyone else.
Oh there is gonna be one religion and sm
one world leader for all some day and it will be forced upon you. At that time you won't like it either. But,the Christians won't be here any longer. Wish you would reconsider, you don't want to go through that period.
yes, it's gonna be ugly, especially if
Hezbullah wins in Lebanon.
Right.....and the "guilty" ones are gonna come forth! Right?!

LOL I thought you were gonna go out of your gourd!
LOL
Well, you're probably gonna need it worse
Because after you see your paycheck dry up to support the "entitled" in your town, you will be so anal, you will need one.
Not gonna bother. your posts are way too

He THINKS he's gonna take guns away..
the NRA is one of, if not the most, powerful lobbying organizations in the nation. Don't think many would stand for that.
It absolutely should not count -- if she's gonna

she should at least have to live through the havoc he's gonna create like the rest of us.

I'd say the same about anyone who dies after they cast their vote but before the election.  It shouldn't count.  Where's the accountability?

Just Me -- we're all gonna see that big pile
I think I'd better start drinking now!!!
Well, change is what you're gonna get with O BUT.......
that's ALL you will have in your pocket when he gets done. You should research the internet about his plans to use children to snitch out naysayers - Hitlerish-sounding to me. Of course, as usual you won't hear or see any of the REAL things that he has planned with the regular media...surprised? No 'cause they were behind him all the way. And the economy? Well, I see this morning that he WILL bail out the Big 3 Automakers - after all, they gave him big bucks to win so he'll have to pay them back - while you and I go broke from tax burdens!
Remember he said it was gonna get worse before it
this whole economy and wall street/bank failure to come about. It's going to take even longer to put it back together again. There are no sure things or quick fixes for this, it's going to take time. All we can do as individuals is ride it out the best we can.
and next you're gonna probably tell us you've never
Pffft!
If you liked that, you're gonna love this...(sm)

Blaming Bush for the trillions that the O is spending??? Excuse me, but the O way outdid anything Bush did in 8 years, it took the O less than 90 days to make it triple worse. You didn't like that Bush spent money, but your okay with the O spending triple the deficit Bush had????? That is not Bush's fault and sorry but that "aint gonna fly".

No they are not trying to "frantically keep us from another great depression". How does giving money to CEO/executives, authorizing millions upon millions in bonuses (then trying to take it back when they hear Americans are not happy - they (the crats) are the ones who authorized it to begin with). Then there is bailing out companies and not enforcing them to use the money to help the company but instead they pocket it and ask for another bailout and they give it to them again, and saying we're giving money to the American banks but instead having it go oversees to bail out other countries banks, and letting our jobs go overseas and telling the people that they are giving the jobs to "oh well those are jobs that Americans don't want anyway". How does drafting kids 18-24, bowing to the S.A. King then lying to us about it, telling other country we are not a great country, but Americans are selfish and irresponsible (among other things he has said), and the other things he has done to destroy our country and who knows what he has told our enemies about us. Not to mention the lies he told us during the campaign like how he was going to pull the troops home, but instead he is sending more to war (a war that he said was "unjust"), how he was going to not increases taxes for people making under 250K, I mean 200K, I mean 175K, I mean 150K. Then we have the FM/FM situation which was caused by the crats in the congress (B. Franks, C. Dodd, etc) and they are the ones who benefited the most, along with your lord the anointed one, which by the way began long before Bush got in there. It started in the Clinton presidency. Lets see...there was how he was going get rid of the patriot act, yet he signed it and it's even worse than when Bush was in. How he was going to tax only the 1% wealthiest, yet my taxes are going up (and I'm by far no where near $150K mark) along with other people who are making around what I make, yet his wealthiest few friends (those 1%) are not paying taxes, and his cabinet is filled with people who don't pay their taxes but that's okay, and he promises change but he fills his cabinet with left-wing Clintonites (no change there). The only changes we the people are seeing are more companies laying off, more people losing houses, more jobs going overseas, etc, etc. He boasted of being the only one to be able to bring the two party's together (you know that nonpartisonship thing), yet there is no equality. He has chosen what...2 or 3 republicans in his cabinet (and yet they vote more democrat than republican). The rest are crat stooges that don't know what they are doing. Uh, tell me, how is all that going to keep us from a depression. And sorry you don't get to use the "This is all Bush's fault" excuse. That aint gonna fly anymore. You cannot blame Bush for the depression the messiah is putting us in. I'm hoping next time the idjits will remember the damage the anointed one and the crats are doing to destroy our country and vote sensibly. I'm hoping a third party will emerge from all this destruction and work for the people. There is no difference between the crat/pubs they all work for themselves. We need real leaders who will work for the people of the country, get us out of this recession/depression, re-establish our once was great nation, and restore credibility to our country. It's not in either parties that are currently in there that's for sure. So, once again, sorry, but the "It's all Bush's fault" is lame and not true. This is all the anointed one's fault and nobody can take that away from him. He didn't have to do this. He could have said no, but he didn't. He could have said I'm going to live up to my campaign promises of transparency and no pork in the spending bill. I need time to read through this. I'm going to get some top economists on this and look it over and get some advice from them. No instead he listens to unqualified people who are only out for themselves. So, sorry but no you don't get to use the "it's all Bush's fault" excuse anymore.
Then what are ya gonna do about the dems turning

I don't think Wounded Knee is anything to be proud of.

The above is what the poster posted.  I disagreed and posted about the horrors we did to Indians in our past.  Much worse than Wounded Knee.  That is all.  It is you who jump on everything liberals post, especially me.  I need to remind you, once again, this is the liberal board..if it is causing you angina or if Im blowing your mind, then dont read the posts.  A liberal board is gonna have people who are antiwar and no matter how hard you try, you will not change a liberal persons mind.  You have your beliefs, good.  I would never try to change your beliefs.  Im glad you have strong opinions on America, life, war, etc., more power to you.  I too have strong opinions and no matter how much you attack, call me and others names, you arent gonna change anyones mind, your are just gonna alienate.  Maybe if you acted a little nicer sometimes, I would and so would others..but I gotta tell ya, my history with you and posting here, all I have ever gotten from you is hate filled posts attacking my posts and attacking me personally..So when I see you responding, I automatically think, oh oh, Im in for an attack.  You can get more bees with honey.

It aint gonna happen - it's over for her - period!!!
Do you really want to live under a socialist dictator. If so I think you are in the wrong country. I think there is plenty of room in Cuba or other socialists/communist countries.

Let it rest. She is not going to be president and she is not going to be VP - Even Palosi (sp?) said it's not a good idea. I trust her judgment more than Hillary's and the other feminists pushing for her. Besides...that is just what Obama needs...someone with their hand on the assassination button only too happy to push the button so that she can finally sleeze herself into the seat.

Even the top democrats who kept pushing and pushing for her to be the nominee last night started saying what in the world is going on? Why isn't she conceding? Why isn't she congratulating Barack? Why is she being announced by Terry McAulife as the next president when all votes have been counted and she lost and they know it? Have they totally lost their mind?????

She has no decent characterists about her. Everything is "me, me, me". Not once whenever Barack won a state did she congratulate him, yet everytime she won a state he congratulated her. Now she's giving a speech last night, does not mention the enormous victory this country has finally having a person of color (even though he's half white) win the nomination. Come on - that is a huge victory! And lastly she says "Thank you South Dakota, you had the last word" when Montana's voting booths had not even closed. Oh, which just so happened to be in Barack's favor (oh lets just forget them, their votes don't count because they didn't vote for me). She's a disgrace to the human race! Moreover she's a disgrace to all women!
Gonna go to Alaska if McPain wins and

I think the bailout just rewards failure, instead of allowing all those dufuses to learn from their mistakes. In the end, it will only benefit big business, but it won't do a thing for regular working people, especially if the so-called jobs created by bailing these companies out have low pay, little or no benefits, etc. Or worse, the jobs they create get offered to those living in India.

The countless questions about the unfolding catastrophe in the Gulf states are all variations on a simple theme: This disaster was all but scripted; why wasn't the response?

News reports from the region have shown the situation getting worse, not better.

This inability to regain control, or at least to rally against the disaster, has shocked the country's sense of itself. Predictably, recriminations mounted Thursday, even as federal officials delivered more aid. State and local officials in Louisiana were particularly critical of the response from Washington, complaining that the feds were slow to provide the help needed to feed and evacuate survivors and halt criminals.

Defenders of the Bush administration said it was doing everything it could. They're facing problems that nobody could foresee: breaking of the levees and the whole dome thing over in New Orleans coming apart, former President George H.W. Bush said Thursday on CNN. People couldn't foresee that.

In fact, emergency planners have been thinking about a catastrophic levee breach for years. Many saw it as an inevitable consequence of a high-powered hurricane such as Katrina hitting the city. And in early 2001, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said that one of the three most likely disasters to strike the U.S. was a catastrophic flood triggered by a hurricane hitting New Orleans. (The other two: a terrorist attack on New York and a major earthquake in San Francisco.)

It's certainly true that by the time forecasters knew that Katrina was a threat, it was too late to shore up the levees. And by the time they knew Katrina was going to come ashore near New Orleans, there was not enough time to evacuate the city completely.

Still, much of what happened this week in New Orleans had been foreseen by federal and state emergency planners, as the city's newspaper, the Times-Picayune, laid out extensively three years ago. Survivors will end up trapped on roofs, in buildings or on high ground surrounded by water, with no means of escape and little food or fresh water, perhaps for several days, one story predicted with eerie accuracy.

That's why the complaints from Louisiana about the official response are so troubling. Why did it take so long to evacuate the poor, the elderly and the tourists unlucky enough to be caught with no way out of town? Where was the food and water? Why were the police left to choose between rescuing people from the floods and saving them from predators?

Critics of the administration, including former FEMA officials, say Washington's focus since late 2001 on potential terrorist targets has come at the expense of its ability to respond to natural disasters in other parts of the country. FEMA no longer helps prepare communities for disasters — it just responds to them. Other critics have pointed out that the administration diverted money from a levee project in New Orleans to fund priorities within the Department of Homeland Security.

One lesson of Hurricane Katrina, though, is that preparedness and response go hand in hand, whether the disaster is natural or man-made. Washington's response to Katrina is likely to gear up notably in the days to come, but the question of why it took so long will linger longer than the floodwaters

Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) joined the Congressional Black Caucus Friday in blasting the Bush administration's response to the Gulf Coast hurricane disaster.

We cannot allow it to be said that the difference between those who lived and those who died in this great storm and flood of 2005 was nothing more than poverty, age or skin color, Cummings said.

He disagreed with administration assurances that the president is moving as fast as he can to get the relief effort mobilized.

The government needs help, Rep. Cummings said - and he wants it to come from the private sector.

We have long heard claims of compassionate conservatism among out nation's leaders. We now want the compassion. This is a time for those with welfare resources to step up to the plate and demonstrate that compassion. This is a time to save human lives. People are dying because they have no water - have no water in America!

Cummings said companies that bottle water now have the power to save lives, and companies that make baby formula and food must be on the front lines of the relief effort.

Private contractors with helicopters and boats and buses at their disposal could put those to use in the region, he said.

Cummings recited the Bible passage (Matthew 25: 37-40) in which Jesus tells his followers to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and clothe the poor: Whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.

To the president of the United States, I simply say that God cannot be pleased with our response, Cummings said.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson, who has gone to Louisiana to help move refugees out, has criticized media reports focusing on the looting and violence in New Orleans.

He's quoted as saying that some reports portrayed people as animals, but he isn't buying it. We're going to New Orleans today without a security guard, wire reports quoted Jackson as saying. We trust people.

Press reports on Friday said President Bush would not touch the ground in New Orleans but would survey the damage from the air, something that his many critics may use against him in the days ahead.

No, gourdpainter...it's gonna be Obama ruling....make no mistake....

I think it's highly doubtful Hillary will pass muster to be SOS, since Bill has too many shady dealings with China and the Saudis, and who knows who else he has taken/is taking money from, and selling our national secrets to (or did, in the case of China with our military secrets).

As for Bush, don't know how you get him thrown in the equation, unless someone named Bush has been appointed....I'm working too much to pay close attention...
