How are you planning to deal with the oncoming high winter heating bills?

I'll be bumping the thermostat back another degree or 2, down to whatever leveI I can  not be cold at.  Otherwise there will be less "fun" money spent if it has to go to the oil companies!

High bills
In Georgia, it's not unheard of for the power bill to exceed $300 during summer. In fact, it's expected. I can't believe the posters with two-digit bills. My water bill is $65! Everything around here has gone up in the last year. My doing MT was supposed to be for extras and fun money, but it's not turning out to be so.
Good grief.. Fortunately ours is only chasing oncoming cars, so just
It is an okay deal - TR 11 font is small. Not as good a deal as Courier.
Personally, I would have to think really hard and compare reports and line counts, like the other poster below suggested, before I would jump right into it. It is probably 75-80 characters to a line +/- the single character lines you get for initials, and 2 word lines you get with op reports such as Surgeon:
IV Fluids:

It probably is comparable to 9 cpl with a larger font.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Good Luck!
Now why didn't I think of that? Thanks!
Heating bill
I just got socked with an over $500 bill for a fill of propane
I keep a rolled up heating pad sm
on my lower back and it takes care of those pains you are speaking of. My legs also get cold, even with long pants on, so the heating pad helps to warm them up. I usually keep it on for 2 hours then turn it off for an hour, and then back on. It really helps.
Don't know what it is. :( Can you rest them on a heating pad in your lap before and while
Use heating blanket? (nm)
also heating up, utilities up, pay has not gone up...in fact
I am tired of being told I have to sacrifice for the good of the someone else, whether it is for a rich, fat corporation, or the government, whoever.  why do I have to sacrifice - I already live at poverty level because my wages are the same from 10 years ago, and my cost of living has over doubled in those same 10 years...
You could do what I do and put a heating pad on low over your feet as you pedal.
Anyone getting socked by heating bill yet?
My latest was $88 - hmm...I've almost never had my heat going since I use space heaters. Hmm...odd.
I keep a heating pad on my lap and rest my hands on it when I'm in between reports
and it's been working great!
Just for giggles this winter sm
I used my electric potpourri pot with some liquid potpourri added to the water. I helped out tremendously while adding a nice scent to the air.  It didn't toss out white dust like my cheapie humidifier did and the noise of a running humidifier wasn't there either.  I also put bowls of water in front of the register in both winter and summer for a little humidity.
Winter wonderland in NH
I guess we are supposed to get about 10 inches.  Its awful to say this but I had no idea it was even going to snow, I've been so busy lately working and doing errands that I haven't watched TV.  It was a shock to me when my neighbor called and said the kids were getting out of school early today because of the weather, I looked out side and was like why, it wasn't even snowing :)  Oh well, its the start of my weekend so I guess I can't really complain...stay warm!
I put a heating pad in front of my pedal on low. Socks don't work 4 me.
Are you an MT or planning to be one?
Nope, it's seasonal. Aug. 31 through winter.
Planning to DIVE IN!
Yes Fox is planning on broadcasting

From an article from our local news station:

"The broadcast networks ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and the cable networks Fox News Channel, CNN and MSNBC planned live coverage of the speech. "

YIKES!!!Got our oil contract for this winter and almost passed out!!!

Last year I paid $845 for  600 gal of oil with a 2 months to pay. Yesterday, I recieved our contract for this winter and it would cost $1517!!!!!

Guess who won't be taking the contract.  That's ridiculous. The country is going to go broke at this rate. They want $759 for 300 gallons. That takes us 3 months into the winter, but......where do they think the seniors  and others are going to get this money?

Guess old Mamma Bear is coming out of storage this year. Wood is no problem for us. We have a stockpile for the garage coal & wood stove and a friend that has 11 acres of woods he likes certain areas cleared every year.

I feel bad for others who have no access to another heating source.

Anybody go south for winter and continue working?

Hubby and I are thinking of going south for the first time this coming winter.  I've found some sublets with internet access, mostly wireless, one wired.  My work uses DocQScribe and internet based.   I use a desktop computer for work but have a laptop capable of the job.

Have any of you done this?  If so, what was your experience?  Any tips or precautions as far as wireless internet security?  At home we have a wired network with a hardware firewall/router so no experience with wireless.  I'm not high tech but not a complete novice either.

As for paying bills and accessing cash in a different locale, did you use online banking and ATMs or some other method?  I confess some hesitation about online banking even though most of my friends and neighbors have used it for years!

Thanks to anyone who can help.

No shoes, barefoot in summer, heating pad on low in front of foot pedal
I'm planning on getting blue flu that week. nm
I am planning to volunteer today.
What are you planning to do with the psych degree?
We are planning on going Aug 20 when the rates drop...lol
WOW - I have been checking out both Compass Cove and Caravelle.. I have a 3-1/2-year-old..So you liked Compass Cove the best, huh?  Did they offer the full breakfast buffet?  Were the rooms really clean and nice?  I am going to check out their prices now....I love the beach...I have had such a hard year that I am looking SO forward to it...We are going to 6 days/5 nights.....Thanks for the info!
Go for it, I am planning to send out a brochure - sm
in my area shortly. Have my business cards designed, now working on my brochure, then just going to run 25 off at a time on my printer and send them out the the docs/specialities I am proficient which happens to be quite a few. So if 1-2 docs get back to me out of 100 I should be set. Tired of making 7-8 a line depending on the account I am working. If by any miracle I get too much work I guess I will just have to hire someone to help and work for me!
We just signed up for our propane for winter.. It's gone up a dollar per gallon...
from last year.  There is no shortage of propane as far as I know.  They just raise the price because they can.  We're paying 1.89 per gallon.  Thank goodness we have 2 wood stoves, but I'm sure a cord of wood will double too. . You can't win.
Space heaters can be very expensive as I found out one winter
by just trying to heat my office and leaving the reest of house cold. The cost to use the space heater was more than the gas furnace would ahve been.
Ya know, winter doesn't officially start until tomorrow

And, I'm already tired of the cold,

tired of all the snow,

but my kids love it and I can't move.

Then consider the heat bill.....now I'm crying

Only during the summer. Wild colored toe socks in winter.
Work some holidays - don't really mind during the winter months, but
when summer rolls around, I am at the beach on the holidays and do not work them. As an IC, we get nothing extra as far as $$ just the extra work.

Can't complain - have plenty of work all of the time.
Planning, organization, schedules, determination, and
making others be responsible for themselves and respectful of your time, effort, energy.

Taught the boys to do laundry, cook, do housework.

Taught family/friends to respect work/study schedules.

I don't feel the obligation to answer to anyone else anymore.

I am planning to give this company Manipha
Global some test files. From there I can verify who's telling the truth. The forum readers will definitely hear a feedback from me in a week or two.
I heard crickets til I realized it was winter. Was really the start of chronic
i still use my fan even during fall/winter and turn it towards the wall but drowns out noises. nm
I love this idea! I'm in the planning stages of a website... SM

and would love to sell this T-shirts on my website at some point in the future.

I have a friend who is in medical billing, got her coding certification, but can't get a job without actual work experience as a coder.  So we've brainstormed and thought we might go into business together.  Create a company that offers medical billing and medical transcription and eventually coding services to private practices, hospitals, etc.

I'm also toying with the idea of incorporating some sort of online MT mentoring/education program into the new business venture.

But like I said we are in the planning and brainstorming stages and when I read about this T-shirt idea, I thought it would be a fabulous addition to the website.  Because one thing is very certain our business venture will stand firmly against offshoring.

Are you planning to move the external drive to the new computer?
If so, save whatever data you want to move on the external hard drive (you should already know what the letter drive is for that one). Connect it to the new computer. Easy enough.
anyone watch deal or no deal?

I love Deal or No Deal.......nm

The HandEze gloves are nice w/the wrist support. I like them in the winter. Other brands to
I use regular thin winter gloves and cut the fingertips off. Works great! nm
Regarding a legal board, we are not planning to add any new boards. We feel that there are plenty of
boards for various topics of discussion.  There also will not be a MQ board set up.  Posters may post on the Main board or Company board about companies.
I want my bread crumbs white so I let them dry up in the open overnight (winter brings low humidity)
a very good way not to waste stale bread (aside from pudding).
I am planning to contact WalMart and purchase a gift card and have her go pick it up
so she can buy her kids some gifts in time for Christmas.

I pay all of our bills but I never would
He makes money and I make money and we should each be able to spend some of that on ourselves if we desire. The only time we really consult the other on any purchase is if that purchase is over a certain amount. I do not ASK him if I can buy anything for my business. If I need it and we can afford it, I buy it. If it is a major purchase that might involve a credit line, I would definitely discuss it with him but not ask his permission. It should be shared. When you get married, you are sharing, not one person owns you/controls you or vice versa. I would be willing to bet that at some point during his little outings, he has chipped in for beer. I doubt one person would be willing to supply all the beer for all the guys every single get-together. My DH used to play softball and there were lots of times they'd hang out and have a few beers after and all the guys chipped in for their share of the beer. If he's telling you the beer is always provided for free, I would have a real hard time buying that. Sounds like you are an understanding wife and you deserve time out to go to lunch or do whatever (and some of that time should be without your kids to give you some alone time, too). If he can't see that, he needs a reality check! Leave him at home with the kids for a weekend and see how fast he wants to run out that door once you get home! lol
Can you really pay your bills with only 29K though???
If you have bills to pay you take whatever

you can get.    You can refuse a job, but the work will just go to India or some other country and the company can get rid of all but a few MTs who will edit the work.

I have been in this business at least 20 years.  I make better than most people these days, but I have not had a raise in 5 years.  I have been offered at least 8 positions the past 6 months and not one of them offers what I make now.   I test very well, usually getting at least 98 on the highest level of testing,  I can do any ESL given to me, I do all Op notes, so I would be an asset to any company, but none will offer me what I am making now, much less offer me more.

Nice job. I'm planning to come back here in the future. when Grass is Slot it will Hedge Girl: ht
