In Reply to: Fox is NOT one-sided. Anyway, how would YOU - know since you refuse to watch?!!nm

How else can one keep up with what the myopic right-wing is up to, especially since nobody else in the mainstream media with any ethical integrity will carry the bulk of their stories?

You can always watch Fixed Noise...(sm)
I hear O'Reilly plans on doing another temper tantrum tonight.  That should be good for a few laughs.
Reality check for Fixed Noise viewers....(sm)

From Rupert Murdoch speaking about Fox dealing with economic downturn:

While it's impossible to be completely prepared for a downturn of this magnitude, we began priming ourselves for a weakening economy earlier last year. We implemented strict cost cutting measures across all our operations. We reduced head count in individual businesses where appropriate and we scaled back on capital expenditures.

Even on [finance] terms, we have never been a company that tolerates facts.

Anyone who watches one-sided news
aren't too smart.  I don't consider MSNBC and half the so-called news programs unbiased.
The National Guard already watches them.
Had a friend who was in Arizona for 6 months doing just that.
Fox Noise?

fair and balanced? Brought tears to my eyes, too. O must have been right there balling those symbols of our country up into wads of disrespect and slam dunking them right in those cans!!!! It just gets me right here ( i )

God forgive them for they know not what they do!!!!!!

Oh my Lord, next thing you know they'll be burning their bras - help us Jesus - help us Lord - the self-righteous pleads for your guidance once they remove the lumbar from their own eyes!!!!

Making noise....LOL

I don't think all christians should be lumped together as republicans.  There are just as many christian dems as pubs.  Having said that though, what pubs call *the base of the party,* which at present seems to be to the far right, are definitely typically hard line christians.

The main problem I have with republicans when it comes to abortion is that they are against abortion and yet also against *welfare.*  So, the way I see it is that they want you to have the baby regardless of the fact that you may not be able to take care of it, but are not willing to assist in the care of that child.  And yeah, I understand the concept of responsibility, but that only happens in fairy tales.  If everyone was responsible we wouldn't be in the economic nightmare we're in right now.

VIVA LA TURKEY!!!!!

I understand all the noise
about smoking and how cigarettes cause diseases, and how billions of dollars are spent on smoking-related problems. What I don't understand, is why isn't there as much passion about ALCOHOL, and how it destroys not only the alcoholic, but the families of the alcoholic; the money that is spent on rehabilitation for alcoholics, who, after 30 days in a rehab walk out and within days they are drinking again.  I see on the TV and in movies, when someone gets stressed they pick up a drink. What message does this send to young people????? I just don't get it.

DH and I should get our mortgage fixed....
we have no debt but our home, have never missed a payment or been late, pay a few hundred dollars extra every month towards the principal, have never taken out a HELOC or used our equity (quite a bit) for anything and have a fantastic credit score. We should have our rate lowered below the 5% it is now for doing a great job. But no, we'll give a break to those who bought too much house, had to compete with the Jones' and who took out foolish loans to begin with.
Yeah and she's already making noise
about running for the presidency in 2012.  God save us all.
If it is broken, why haven't they fixed it?

Updated in light of today's news that kangaroo centers, petting zoos and ice cream parlors are included in Homeland Security's list of vulnerable terrorist targets:

If Its Broken, Why Haven't They Fixed It?

Fort Knox is robbed in an unusual way. Burglars break in through an air conditioning vent and shine a laser at the video cameras to blind them. Billions are stolen.

The head of Fort Knox (let's call him the Chief) announces that no one could have foreseen this type of burglary.

The commission investigating the robbery -- stacked with the Chief's business partners and friends -- finds that the break-in was unexpected. The commission makes numerous suggestions on how to thwart similar burglaries by installing motion detectors in the air conditioning vents and main vault.

Independent researchers, however, discover that there have been many previous break-ins at repositories of valuable items where the burglars crawled in through the air conditioning vents and shined lasers at video cameras.

They also discover that the Fort's security system would normally have caught the burglars in the act and alerted the military in time to stop the burglarly, but the system was undergoing a series of safety tests that night -- including some that were similar to what actually occurred -- and so the military assumed that the alarms were part of the test.

There had been safety tests before, but never so many at the same time. The Chief personally scheduled multiple, overlapping tests for the night of the robbery, and then oversaw the operation of the tests and the Fort's reaction to those tests.

Years pass, but the Chief does not follow the commission's recommendations. He fails to install any motion detectors.

That's circumstantial evidence that the Chief was in on the heist. Why? Because if the robbery really had not been foreseeable and if he was innocent, he would have a very strong incentive to install motion detectors to prevent further robberies at the Fort. His personal reputation, the government's reputation, and its gold reserves would all depend on it. You can bet that he'd shore up the Fort's defenses.

Perks

Let's take it a step further: the Chief's personal bank account has suddenly gotten alot bigger after the heist. That helps to prove he was in on it, right? But it also shows that one of the reasons the Chief is leaving the Fort's defenses in a compromised state now is so that additional heists can occur, and he'll get more loot.

9/11

Similarly, the 9-11 Commission -- stacked with cronies of the Bush administration (like executive director Philip Zelikow, who is very close to administration hawk Condoleeza Rice, and steered the Commission away from the most important lines of inquiry) -- found that the attacks were unexpected, despite very strong evidence that they were not, and despite the fact that the government scheduled numerous, overlapping war games for 9/11 -- some involving a plane flying into a building and others involving hijackings.

And while the 9-11 Commission made numerous recommendations on how to prevent future terrorist attacks -- many of them simple and inexpensive to implement -- the Bush administration has failed to do so. Indeed, the Department of Homeland Security, instead of protecting vulnerable targets, has instead randomly made up lists which include kangaroo centers, petting zoos and
ice cream parlors
as high-priority terrorist threats.

Just like with the Chief, the current administration's failure to make the recommended and preventative changes -- many of them cheap fixes -- despite billions being spent on supposed homeland security, is strong evidence that the administration was in on it.

This is especially true because the administration has recieved so many perks from 9/11: justification for wars in Afghanistan (where a huge oil pipeline benefitting American companies was being held up by the Taliban) and Iraq (one of the world's largest oil producers), permanent military bases in the Middle East, and consolidation of power at home.

And by failing to implement the recommendations of the 9-11 Commission, the administration keeps open the possibility that another terrorist attack will occur which will whip the now-dissenting American public into line, justify the invasion of Iran, and allow for the suspension of our remaining constitutional rights.

The bottom line is that the administration's, like the Chief's, inaction to fix the alleged holes in security which allowed supposedly unforeseeable crimes to occur shows that they are guilty of the crimes, and hope to benefit from additional crimes in the future.

And if foreign terrorists really had carried out 9/11, why is the government using all of its resources spying on innocent people who obviously have never met a terrorist in their life?

sorry came out off center. Fixed version.
I decided to post this at the top since things get lost in the shuffle so quickly here.

Right now there are single, low income mothers (and fathers I would assume) who by the time they get the earned income credit and claim head of household do not owe taxes and actually get back more than they paid in to begin with. So why haven't you been carrying on about that all along? (And when people without children are contributing to this with their tax money, why isn't that considered socialism?)

I don't get all the chaos over this issue.

Fixed news strikes again...LOL (sm)

You guys really do need to bring in some credible sources.  The reality is that companies don't like unions, not because unions put them in a financial hole, but because they cut down on the profit margin (aka CEO wallets).  Again, the republican goal is to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.  This is a perfect example of that.  You guys gripe about the CEO payoffs from the 700B bailout, but support an idea (killing unions) that essentially does the same thing.

I work for MQ.  If we had had a union for MTs, then we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

I have the same feeling. I hear the background noise already nm
nm
Did you read the screen below him? On Faux Noise, no less.

nm

Faux Noise? You mean Fox News? I have watched
nm
I meant fixated on her breasts not fixed
Thought I'd clarify that before people jump down my throat on that word.
and what about people on fixed incomes who don't have mortgages
What if all this triggers inflation and screws them?
Explain what you want fixed? The voter fraud
xx
Can you stop parroting Faux Noise long enough
The freeze is pending review of the Gitmo operations. You are just plain STUPID to think that Obama is going to flood the streets with the detainees. They will be transerred to different facilities (last I heard, they were considering re-opening Alcatraz, for example!), their charges and cases reviewed and heard in a legitimate court proceedings, but don't look for ALL cases to stand, especially the ones where the only evidence against the accused was gained by means of torture. Some of them may well end up walking. You will have your beloved shrub and Cheney to thank for that.
Wow, once again jumping to conclusions based on Faux Noise sm
inaccurate reporting by jumping on a story strictly for sensationalism.  Mr. Latham has since been reinstated his job.  It all turned out to be a misunderstanding by argumentative student that took something that Mr. Latham said, twisted it, and reported it to the principal.  Once the misunderstanding was cleared up after all parties told their stories, Mr. Latham has his job back.  Just another example of those ambulance chasers at Fox stirring the pot for their own hateful agenda.  Maybe those of you on here that take everything they say as gospel woulld be wise to wait before you report something as fact!!
No more creepy than you to be fixed on her breasts - ewww back at ya.
.
I'd be happy if they just reduced everybody's mortgage rate to a fixed 3%. sm
Then everyone is still responsible for the debt they took on, yet they're still getting a break. It would free up a couple hundred bucks a month for me, which I could then use elsewhere to stimulate the economy. Fewer foreclosures, banks are still getting their money.
You can't throw money at this problem and expect it to be fixed.
Spending and spending and then more spending isn't the answer - it just creates more of the same problems. It's true that Bush never met a spending bill he didn't like and that lost him a lot of support and, as you stated, created quite a bit of the mess we're in today. But Obama's spending really isn't doing anything to jumpstart the economy - okay, maybe in the short-term, but none of the money he's spending is sustainable.

Example: Part of his stimulus money went to pay for the salaries of police officers in Columbus, Ohio. For one year. The City of Columbus is broke and Mayor Coleman says that if things don't turn around soon, jobs that are going to be cut are... guess what? Policemen and firefighters. Even if those officers make it to next year, the city can't afford to take over paying thier salaries after that. Is Obama going to pay for it next year and the year after that?

When you're in debt, the first thing you learn is that you can't spend your way out of it. You have to cut back, "trim the fat", and learn to live on a tighter budget. What burns me is that none of the politicians in DC understand that because they don't have to live it - they do the majority of what they do on our dime.

It's not about doing nothing, but it's about doing what's right and since no one in DC even reads the spending packages they keep signing, you can't say even they know what's right anymore.

You are always so well-informed.
nm
I am sure you are more informed than
I am on this subject. But, if this was what they agreed to in 2005, why would Hamas begin bombing in 2008 because they disagreed with it?
PK is well informed, you seem to be programmed.nm
z
Get Informed, I agree with you too,

and I enjoy the politics of it all, but I am truly very concerned what is going on.  How in the world can a man who says he puts "Country First" in such peril?  It might be funny if it wasn't so deadly serious.  If McPain gets in the WH, will just have a ball with what money we have set aside, maybe go to Alaska and just hope a polar bear comes along and has one good last meal.....lol sort of.  LOL.

Oh pulleease you are so mis-informed
Name one person who has been killed because of Beck. Just did a search, haven't found one. Sure he may be a bit "animated" - the gas can incident was a good example to show people what is happening. You just don't agree with what he says. But he is the only one out there who is telling us the truth and telling it like it is. I for one have been listening to him and he has a good show. If it wasn't for Beck I wouldn't have known about this administration cutting back the death benefits for the families of slain police officers in the line of duty, yet at the same time this administration is spending over $300K to research gay bars in Argentina to find out why gays get drunk and participate in that behavior. There is so much we don't know in this country but at least Beck is informing the people. If you don't like him don't listen. But please spare us with the lies of "people have died because of him".

Hannity - I actually can't stand the guy - Savage calls him a Leprechaun. HA HA. I don't like him but there is not one thing he's done to incite violence.

Rush Limbaugh - He may be in the republican party, but he was never the leader. That was made up by the liberal media. You know like "Al Gore invented the internet" which he never said to begin with. Both parties are making things up.

It's more like that the conservatives know history and are better informed.
I am amazed that you people are not challenged more.  I don't care about the political aspect but this is just ridiculous. Capitalism is superior to socialism in every way.  Socialist societies have never prospered.  Never.  Socialism remains a failed experiment.  Capitalism was implemented in West Germany and West Berlin following World War II. West Germany and West Berlin prospered and living standards became much better. Socialism was implemented in East Germany and East Berlin following World War II. East Germany and East Berlin stagnated and living standards deteriorated. The split turned German into an experiment that could be observed, studied, and used to show the differences of how capitalism and socialism affect a country. This is a matter of fact.  Anyone who opts for socialism is a fool.
I guess God himself has spoken to you and informed you
that the rapture will pass Lilly by.

Everyone tune in Divinity is speaking on the chat board tonight.

Joke!
Your characterization of Obama is ill informed.
nm
Rush rocks. He just informed us

that President Bush's applauses & Fred Thompson's speech were apparently edited out or ignored from MSLSD (NBC) and CBS.  If that's the case, how responsible is that?  That's as bad as MQ being the only MTSO out there, period.

Fred Thompson was incredible last PM.  I suppose I'll have to dig that one out for those who think the news is on the drive-by channels like these.

That's certainly not to diminish Joe Lieberman's speech.  Even when he was running for VP, the GOP wouldn't go "after him," only challenge the issues.  He's a perfect example of a liberal who puts country before party.  Frankly, it's impossible to dislike the man, regardless of what side he's on.

I guess one of the things she's not very informed

You are woefully ill informed on who democrats
You are also mistaken to think that after saturating the airways for the past 2 years with smear tactics that suddenly they are going to take a complete 180 and become effective...especially in light of the economic meltdown and your candidate's cowardly retreat from the issues at hand. Americans have a one-track mind right now. If he stays silent on the economy he will lose the election...no doubt about it.
Oh, I am informed. I don't listen to the smut

I've been following the candidates throughout this whole process. O is not going to cure our ills. He will just put us more into debt. I would have loved to hear the crap spewed by BOTH but let's face it. If the O wins and any of his dem affiliates and everything is democratic, there goes the checks and balances; i.e., they can put through any law with smooth sailing and nary a person can undermine it.

Do you understand and see what I'm saying???? Probably not.  Let me put it in English....if the O wants to ban guns, it will be done. If the O wants to tax people that earn $1,000  a year (just a supposition), it will be done. If the O wants to tax us to death on health care, it will be done. If he wants us to rely on the government for our income, it will be done.

We need checks and balances so we don't become another Cuba or Russia. Don't you get that? If the dems control everything, there's no way this will be "for the people, of the people" demoncracy. It will be Venezula, Cuba, Russia, China, etc.,  so called republic and I'm not looking forward to it.

BTW, I split my vote so you can't call me a pub.

the informed voting public
http://www.bpmdeejays.com/upload/hs_sal_in_Harlem_100108.mp3

Give this a listen.
For one thing, that you're not informed

of the truth (which I posted below) and are spreading the "mandatory" myth, which inflames and upsets people.

Obama's programs are inclusive and designed for those who choose to participate for the good of the country, to bring us closer together.  If you want no part of that, then, that's your choice, and though I personally think it's sad, it's probably for the best.  Either way, it's your CHOICE and is NOT MANDATORY.

You are delusional AND ill-informed. What a pity.
By your logic, Palestinians are in charge (yeah, right). That's the only way they could possibly be occupiers. When was the last time they blockaded Israel's food, medicine, fuel and money? Point to the place on the map where they have "expanded" their settlements, especially in light of the fact that the majority of them live in refugee camps. Israelis have not right to return? Return from which diaspora? They are there, or not, by choice, not by force. There is a difference. Palestinians try to tear down the wall, not construct it.

Since when do they have the power to imposed ANYTHING on the Israelis, let alone a police state. This current so-called retaliation is in response to the expiration of a cease fire, not renewed by Hamas because Israel did not live up to its own bargain and refused to lift the blockade. Palestinians invaded what part of Israel? When? Remember, they are the ones living on the ever-shrinking, splintering geography. Israelis think nothing of plundering even the most basic of resources, and scarce at that....water. Just another routine starvation tactic as they swim in their pools. Again, consult the disproportionate fatality statistics on fatalities and injuries. No matter how hard you protest, you cannot turn your lies into truth.

More pregnant women should be informed of this.
When I had my son, we donated his cord blood and it was all done for free. When I had my daughter four years later (and at a different hospital), we were told that we could store the cord blood, but not donate, and of course, storing means paying (way too much), so we didn't do it then. I probably should have done more checking around to see where we could have donated.

That one, I'm all for - if they could use that to find a cure for or treat cancer, MD, or anything else, imagine how fabulous that would be!!!
no I'm not a lover but do like to stay informed.
I can only take about 5 minutes of bull*(#% a day though.
imposing to assume that I am not informed
because I disagree with you?
It's just that the other posters tonight were much more respectful and better informed.
/
Original poster is well informed and did the research
This is total Hogwash!!!! Please provide a link that I can view the document showing he voted against giving medical care to babies who survive abortion. This is just rubbish being spewed by the (oh how I hate to say this word) right wing in favor of McCain. I won't believe it until I see the document with his signature against medical care.

Obama has devoted his entire life to helping people. This idea of how he is for abortions (torturing of innoicent babies) telling people they need to leave them sitting on a bare table to rot in the same room as some filthy toilet is pure GARBAGE!

Obama is for helping people in the community, the less fortunate, the needy, the hungry, the unemployed, the children, the education system, the elderly, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. To spread this type of smear is about as low as the republicans can go.

So all I say is prove it. Provide a link showing Obama's signature.
I decide for this informed American voter....
and a man's affairs or not affairs is not the reason I will vote or not vote. I don't want a socialist America, so I would not vote for Barack Obama.
If she gave sensible or informed answers it was because they were prewritten.
NM
This has got to be the stupidst, ill-informed comment I have ever read on here!!
xx
I am interested in this

What is a little definition?  And how is your definition a big definition.  Can you provide sources for this categorization?

I am still waiting for the sources of the claim that a liberal poster(s) has stalked a conservative poster(s) at some point.  I find this very very intriguing and eagerly await the details!!!

If you are interested, there is more...
on this on the America's Most Wanted website with some more detail. It does not appear to be biased one way or the other...and there is some food for thought there. They seem to be leaning more toward what I said...that the agents should have been reprimanded but the sentence appears pretty harsh. One of the agents has since been beaten up in prison, AMW contends, by other inmates who recognized him from the show (Hispanics yelling kill the border agent) while they beat him up. I did not try to confirm that part of it. At any rate...I do not think, after reading all of this, it would be wrong for the White House to pardon these two men, even if that pardon included removing them as border patrol agents, if that is what it took. Point being...at most border situations, it is going to be the guards and the illegals and no one else...so there does need to be accountability for border patrol agents...and frankly, illegals, I still say, should have NO legal standing in this country and should understand that if they cross illegally. That does not mean that border patrol should have carte blanche to shoot people, that is not what I am saying. THEY need to be accountable to our legal system. However, the illegals should have no standing and should realize that when they come here illegaly. I know that there are many on the liberal side, and perhaps even on the RINO side but I have not heard of any... who disagree with that and think they should have the same rights as US citizens. I disagree with that strongly.
