Other addicted Americans aren't putting people in jail or ripping apart families for drug crimes.

Ayers is a jerk. He & his wife belong in jail.

oh, pullllllllleeeze save Poor Drug Companies spiel.

you didn't answer mine.  Where did you hear that the U.S. doesn't make vaccines?  Or is it merely more conservative fiction?  Because it's simply not true.

You're talking about all this as if it's a leisurely endeavor that isn't time sensitive.  I'm talking about protecting my family and your family from a potential bio terror attack using smallpox.

And you're right.  No response is necessary at all because you haven't said anything worthy of one.

Conservatives believe Bush didn’t act in time because God told him to get rid of poor black people

on welfare and old people on Social Security because they cost taxpayers too much money.

A radio talk show host just said that…and I agree. They can’t admit that Bush has shown us all how he will refuse to protect Americans in a national emergency, even though he used that as a campaign promise, and that Bush doesn’t even have to care any more since he can’t be President again. I hope they can live with their collective conscience. That is if they have one. I’m starting to believe they don’t.

obama STEALS SP plan

Mrs. Palin proudly boasted that she had put her state's "checkbook" on line so the fine Alaskan citizens could actually see where their money was being spent.  Bless her heart.  She said under the Palin/McCain (yep, in that order) administration, she would do the same with the federal "checkbook."

Come to find out that Obama had already done that 2 to 3 years ago.  He should be ashamed of stealing her idea.

Poor, poor MT. She can't pick a fight with anyone on her own board tonight and must come here to

At least her clothing will be going to charity

So much for that Sak's and NM charity contribution.

charity begins at home
Im wondering, with Bush's millions, has he given to the Iraq rebuilding?  My mom always taught me, charity begins at home..So home first, then American states.  Give to Bush's immoral war?  I dont know, gonna have to research my soul on that one..
Who gives more to charity? Liberals or conservatives? sm

Charity's political divide

Conservative give roughly 30% more to charity on average.

What? The part about Obama's charity being
??
Those are not her clothes and will be donated or auctioned for charity
Those were never her clothes to keep. She had to look a certain way (the Washington way), so the committee provided her with some clothes for a few days. They are not hers to keep and she said they will either be donated or auctioned off and the money given to charity. Her favorite place to buy clothes is a consignment shop in Alaska (and her shoes too). Everyone made a big deal out of this and made it sound like she was stealing money from the campaign. They did not want to tell the truth. I'm glad it finally came out.
Also, so what if she is giving the clothes to charity, she sneakily did not say they were given to h
She never disclosed the clothes were bought with campaign funds. She didn't think it would come out, but I am not running for anything and I am not dumb enough to think I wouldn't be scrutinized for everything I do and had done. I just don't think she is a very bright bulb and I have read the good with the bad and feel I made an informed decision for myself. I just have a hard time with people in our profession that would fall for someone like her.
That's why I can't understand Sean Hannity isn't doing it for charity.
I mean, he said he would!! I used to have so much respect for the guy and now Keith Olbermann is making fun of him.

I mean, it's not like it's torture! Right?
jail the abusers
Well, I thought of that the last few days..that people who werent victims would show up and try to get whatever they could..They are criminals and IMHO the maggots of the earth, trying to get something from this unbelieveable preventable tragedy...Oh, my, if and when we can realize who are the abusers, they most certaintly should have to pay back big time, however, for those who are truly suffering..oh my, my heart goes out to them..and I pray that heads will roll for those who were incompetent..
I would add that I think that if they went to jail for shooting him....
he should have gone to jail for the marijuana. I did not do extensive research, so I am not sure about the marjuana or the amount...the two articles I read said there was 700 lbs, but they were news articles and that information may have changed.

You only would have been thrown in jail
to pay what you owed. Haven't any of you known or heard of someone that made an error on their taxes? Are the all incarcerated? Geez.
Donating Palin's expensive clothing to charity.
Mother who cannot afford food says to hungry child, "Would you like gabardine or charmeuse for breakfast, sweetheart?" Hopefully, Palin's leather clothing will be donated to hungry vegetarians!
You wouldn’t waterboard but Hannity is ready for it, for charity and
I know some who are standing in line to get out their check books.
... and half of them belong in JAIL.

Judith Miller released from jail.

After 86 days in jail, her *source* has officially given his permission for her to reveal his identity in a story that she never even WROTE presumably regarding WMD/Valerie Plame's identity.

Her source?

Well, none other than *Scooter* Libby, CHENEY'S CHIEF OF STAFF.

Aren't we fortunate to have such honest, ethical, patriotic Cons in the White House?  Seems a lot of them could learn a lot about confidentiality and ethics from a member of that horribly corrupt mainstream media -- Judith Miller!!

Child Rapist Gets 60 Day Jail Term
Please contact the governor of Vermont to let him know that his is WRONG.  See link below for his contact information.

Wcax reports:

Vermont Judge Edward Cashman is coming under fire for handing out a light sentence to a child rapist. The judge says did it because he no longer believes in punishment and he wants to speed the rapist’s entry into a rehabilitation program.

Judge Cashman’s short sentence for an admitted child molester triggered immediate public and political reaction with some lawmakers saying he should leave the bench.

Judge Edward Cashman’s light sentence was the talk of the town. Wednesday he sentenced child rapist Mark Hulett to 60 days in jail. Hulett admitted he raped a little girl countless times when she was between 7 and 10 years old.

As a reminder, in California you can access the online Megan’s Law database of sex offenders here and find out what sex offenders have registered in your neighborhood.

I agree. I do not think any jail time was warranted. (nm)

Karl Rove -- why isn't this moron in jail yet? (sm)

Yep, he has refused to show for yet another subpoena, this time because Bush seemingly wrote a letter 4 days before leaving office saying he didn't have to show up?  Give me a break!  This guy is such a crook and needs to be put under the jail.  I hope they fry him.  I wonder what would happen to any of us who refused to show up for a subpoena.....about 3 or 4 times, that is.

Poor, poor Obama......sm
and I bet you don't think that huge press conference, surrounded by the adoring media masses, pandering to poor me (O) being taken advantage of....you don't believe that was political grandstanding?

Another aspect of the medical...

...is that with each job cut that is announced, more than likely there is another American who becomes uninsured (since many can't afford to pay COBRA payments).  So if we had 47 million people previously uninsured, that number has increased by a few million or so (at least) since it was last researched.

I believe that medical represents a HUGE cost to companies, which is another reason I don't believe medical coverage should have anything to do with employment.

As you pointed out, for overseas auto industries, medical insurance isn't part of employment.  Those countries are way ahead of us in terms of medical care for their citizens, and as a result, they have the upper hand in competing against us.

Medical was part of it......... sm
The foreign car workers have, I believe, national insurance coverage so that does not figure into the workers' benefits from the company. The figure being negotiated with the UAW was the amount that the foreign companies pay their workers. I don't believe health care would be a part of the package for the UAW.
what does all this have to do with Medical Transcription?
I just have to ask this question. Since when did this become a political opinion debate forum? I thought the whole purpose of this forum was for us to be able to talk to each other about our jobs, give ideas on equipment, companies to work for, etc. Now we are going to debate whether you are better to be a republican or a democrat, support Obama or not. This is ridiculous. This has nothing to do with our jobs whatsoever.
Who makes your medical decisions now?
Socialism does not always evolve into dictatorship. France is not a dictatorship, nor is Canada, and the 3 Scandanavian countries have had socialized medicine, socialized transportations, socialized education for about a century. Unlike this country, they have never started a single war, have no race riots, no poverty to speak of, very low rate of unwed pregnancies and STDs, etc.

"Socialist" Germany before WWII? What on earth are you talking about?

All socialism is all the people sharing the burden of public goods - schools, streets, sewer systems, military defense, etc. We are the only developed country in the world that does not share the cost of health care and education for its entire citizenry.

There are so many half-baked statements in your post, it would take a book to answer them all.

Again, we are the only country that does not pay for the education of its citizens - here we have to go n debt for 10 or 20 years to pay back student loans for a college and/or graduate education. Why do you think we have so many foreign doctors here? Because they come here to make PROFIT - we have the only health care system that is run by corporations and is based on profit, not on care for the patients.

Read a book before you spout off.

What is your opinion regarding medical marijuana?
Although the residents of California voted overwhelmingly to make medical marijuana legal in our state with written recommendation from a doctor, the federal government still considers it a crime.

Should the federal government laws supersede the laws of the State of California against the will of the voters?
No. Medical marjuana is a miracle. nm
.
No one should have to release their medical records...
to run for office. If one has to release them they all should. What is Obama's family history? Is he on antihypertensives? Is he on any kind of mood altering meds? Does he have high cholesterol? lol. That is none of my business, and neither is McCain's medical record.
What about Obama's 1 page medical
1200 pages? Why don't you want to see his?
computerized medical records
Probably a dumb question, but what does Pres. Obama mean by computerizing medical records, and how does that hurt/help us?
"Your" a medical transcriptionist???
It's "you're", dear. But I do believe you're a Republican.

I don't think you're an MT, but I do believe you're a Republican.
Drug companies
Why is it that other countries have American made medications so much cheaper than America.  The argument has been well we pay the extra amount so drug companies can do research.  Why us?  We are expected to pay more for medications and also health benefits when other countries have universal healthcare and lower drug costs.  It isnt right that Americans foot the bill for the world to enjoy the medications we produce at less cost than us.  It isnt right that Americans have to go bankrupt when faced with a major illness because either their healthcare is inadequate or they dont have healthcare.  If this administration really cared about what Americans need most, they wouldnt be talking about Social Security, they would be devising a universal health plan for all Americans.  Some say that would be socialized medicine.  Heck, when you dont have any health coverage, socialized medicine is better than nothing.
Why Bush should be tried for war crimes....(sm)

A very good case I think.

Yup, probably a byproduct of his war crimes!

Only the lie about not being a drug abuser...
Rush is a fake, a phony, a hypocrite ("do as I say, not as I do").

It is not the Dems who are giving him any "power" it is the poor, misguided Republicans who look up to this misguided human being.

We dems are merely entertained.....
they should be prosecuted for war crimes

When will McCain release his medical records? sm

(And his tax returns and military records?)  I came across this link while surfing around:  Shouldn’t John McCain Release His Medical Records?

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/09/14/shouldnt-john-mccain-release-his-medical-records/

>> John McCain has not yet released his medical records to the public. McCain is 72 years old, and has been diagnosed with invasive melanoma. In May of this year, a small group of selected reporters were allowed to review 1,173 pages of McCain’s medical records that covered only the last eight years, and were allowed only three hours to do so. John McCain’s health is an issue of profound importance. We call on John McCain to issue a full, public disclosure of all of his medical records, available for the media and members of the general public to review. >>

Another great decision by the Obama administration!
Employer provided medical insurance

originated, I believe, during FDR's New Deal.  When wages were capped, employers found a way to circumvent this by providing ''sickness insurance'' for their employees, thus giving them a raise without violating the wage caps.

Another example of government meddling.  Had they not imposed wage caps, employers would have been able to keep paying their employees and give raises to enable them to afford their own healthcare.  But instead, we grew the employer-provided healthcare system we have now and people experience ''job lock,'' unable to move to another employer because of pre-existing conditions which may not be covered by a new company's insurance plan.

Of course it's income, always has been.  Same as use of a company car, or executive housing provided by a company (both of which are taxable to the extent they are used outside of actual business activities.)   I'm amazed nobody until now has taxed insurance.

Does this constitute a new tax on people earning under $250 thousand (or $235 thousand, or whatever the new number is?)
