You seriously don't remember all the hoopla about Obama quotes from his books that were played over and over, that surely stand alone...and yet, according to his ardent followers, were taken out of context.
You seriously don't remember his remarks about Pennsylvania gun owners and religion?
Oh wait, these don't count. They were....taken out of context. He didn't mean what they say he meant.
However....when it's done to a conservative (Rush), he's, well....all those things the previous poster said he was....god forbid you should listen to the rest of what he says, and why.....his comments stand alone......

I'm not willing to sacrifice all the hard work
my husband and I put in over the years to get where we are (finally living half decently) just to give it to people who don't deserve it. Those who deserve help, hey, I'm willing to help, but those who don't contribute, they can go down the tubes for all I care.
Bash all you want, but that's how I feel, and I know there are plenty of Americans who also feel this way.
Our hard work shouldn't go to support those
who want nothing but a handout. As I stated before, I have no problem paying taxes, I just don't want to hand it over to the likes of those who won't help themselves, live in debt because of foolish choices, don't have a clue how to save money and then cry and whine when their choices bite them in the behind. These are some of the same people who get thousands back from the IRS each year and instead of saving it, blow it all on some material item they think they deserve, all the while forgetting the fact that the money they get back every year is their own, they had too much taken out of their paycheck each week, while the gov't was making the interest off of it. I'm sure you'll come back with some snappy reply that will just reinforce the attitude that you have. Sorry you can't quite grasp the concept of not wanting to pay more in taxes.

...It is so surreal in a way, all that happened, and then paasing the buck, and now the tide of human hate that in some ways is just as damaging as the storm itself.
I fear they will try their best to rewrite the story of what happened. It's already starting. Now the new poll is out saying somewhere close to half of Americans approve of Bush's handling of the emergency services. The conservatives are all agaggle over it - as if it was real. As if just saying so makes it real. Karl Rove has played this game from day one but they just don't see it. Not even with all the ultra conservative pundits turning on them, they believe a faked poll before they believe their own eyes and ears.
My brother told me a story once about a company he used to work for in Ft. Pierce, FL, run by a man and his three adult sons. One day my brother was taking a break with the three sons and they were reminiscing about the good old days (about 10 years previously) when they would load up their shotguns, jump in the pickup and head over to the segregated part of town where the black people lived, and drive around the outskirts of town taking pot shots at the inhabitants, killing as many as possible, laughing as heads exploded and children were shot out of their mother's arms. This was going on in 1962. The blacks couldn't do anything about it - the whites owned the city and the sheriff's office and if they didn't like it they were invited to get the hell out of town. The sons in question were from 12-14 years old when they were committing murder with their father's approval and assistance.
What happened this last week gives me the same unbelieving sense of horror and shame as I had when I first heard that story. I just don't know what to say about people so dead inside that murder to them is a joyride. That's kind of a dramatic way to put it, but this stuff really happened and I don't think these kinds of people have left us at all. I am sure they have not all murdered the defenseless for sport, but I am also no longer sure that defending and enabling murderers of any kind is very much better. They might not be shooting but they are certainly driving the truck around with a big grin on their faces, some of them. Not all, but a very dead empty and evil few.
At least now we can plainly see who they are.
Are you Sioux by the way Lurker? Don't mean to pry but just curious:) I have to take issue with the phrase though. I always believed it, now I don't believe it anymore. We're not all one. There are the people and then there are...I don't know what they are but they aren't human and they are not related to anyone but each other. I wish I could feel more inclusive about it but that's not going to happen ever again, I suspect.

Case and point Fox News is the #1 media outlet via ratings and hardhitting conservative anchors, pundits, and journalists. Other than Hardball, I don't know of another mainstream show that puts the liberal point of view out there and checks this administration and their policies.

on the internet you can find "facts" to back up just about any ridiculous claim from two-headed monsters, to ape babies to all sorts of conspiracy theories. First, I find trying to associate Sarah Palin with this lady is ridiculous.

Second, it is not so hard to believe that Sarah and Todd have not met these people. My mom and dad did not meet my inlaws until 2 weeks before our wedding when we had a dinner. And my mom's parents didn't meet her inlaws until maybe a week before her wedding.

1. God does not condone evil, nor does He protect those who commit evil acts from the consequences of those actions.
2. There is a responsibility to protect the innocent that supercedes any conflicting obligation that might exist toward those who would kill them.
3. God was much harsher toward the oppressors of the innocent than anything the CIA has ever done. Try reading about the plagues He visited upon Egypt if you want to talk "torture".
I could go on, but there's no point. I'll just say thank God for Christians; a lot of people are alive in Los Angeles because we were able to disrupt a plan that was already in motion. If left up to the faux moralists (who would torture their own grandmothers in a minute if they thought it would save their own lives), those people would be dead. I haven't figured out yet why people are trying so hard to get her into office. She should go back to being a Senator from NY. She even said earlier in her campaign that being a Senator is a very good job. I have not figured out (and I really have tried to be objectionable) as to why people want her back in there. Doesn't anyone remember what it was like when the Clintons were in before. I know that speaker of the house doesn't get her "in" the white house, but you have to remember that if something happens to President and VP then speaker of the house is next in line. That would make me very nervous and I'd be constantly looking over my shoulder as to what she and Bill are up to. I think she should go back to being a senator or congress person and leave it at that.

You know when Kerry ran against Bush I did not feel this way. When Gore ran it was a little different because he was still associated with the clintons and I didn't not want a Clinton 3rd term. I just can't understand how someone can say something so shameful and hurtful. I can't even imagine what Obama's wife is thinking. Probably one of her biggest fears, and then along comes her husband's oponent and says something like this? Just really gets the blood pressure going. Some of the media is trying to make excuses for her but there is just no excuse. convincing most schools that they need to teach basic good values to students. They would argue, and I tend to agree with them, that they have their hands full teaching children the educational skills needed to be successful in school and college. More and more is being required of our children at a younger and younger age. Most of the teaching revolves around learning the skills necessary to pass the standardized tests required in most states. Here in Texas, TAKS instruction takes up the majority of the school day. My son has a 2-hour math class and 2 separate language arts classes, both subjects of which are TAKS-required and required to pass the TAKS inorder to matriculate to the next grade.
I believe, and I believe most teaches would agree with me, that morals begin at home and are best taught by example and not by a teach-and-test method. I live in what is considered to be an "economically depressed" area and the attitudes of a good number of our students is abysmal at best, reflecting the attitudes of their own unemployed, welfare-recipient parent(s). Until parents' attitudes and values change, neither will the children's, and they are the ones who will suffer.
