I wouldn't be so quick to make that assumption.

Administrations change, some contracts post date that event. People forget.

I wouldn't make that assumption...
It might not be that the poster is using her time unwisely, it could simply be she has drawn the proverbial short straw and has nothing but horrid dictators who probably shouldn't be in a voice recognition program.

I love the Escription program too and never had a problem with it, but I was sufficiently lucky to have a pretty decent group of dictators whose style of dictating worked well within the voice recognition system.

I don't think all MTs have such luxury, though.

I'm giving the poster the benefit of the doubt on this one...If I'm wrong, you're perfectly welcome to say you were right, Janet :-).
I usually shoot off an e-mail when I have to make a quick trip
unless it will take longer than 10 mins or so.  I live in a small town so nothing takes much more than 10 mins!  They have NEVER micromanaged me and I highly doubt they will ever start unless I start to become some sort of slacker, which I won't.
2-3 cpl for VR? No way. You wouldn't even make
minimum wage. VR is a ripoff, and they keep trying to lower the pay for it until they have us all working for minimum wage. Top-heavy greedy corporations have ruined what used to be a good industry.
Probably wouldn't make a difference. sm
They put my line rate in writing in my offer letter, and did a bait and switch later. Buh-bye gross line rate and accounts, hello new rate and new accounts. I did the math and it didn't come out right. I sent them email about it, and they didn't make it right. Rather than take them to court, I quit.
Wouldn't stand for that crud! Like you said, you can't make
Re the new hires of 40-50 MTs, wouldn't it make more sense
to cross-train the existing MTs who are begging for work on the new accounts since they're already here and familiar with MDI, and then if the accounts they are currently on that don't have enough work pick up, to then hire new MTs to replace them?  Why hire 40-50 new MTs when so many are looking for work?  They will have to train on the current accounts where people are already scrounging for work.  I thought the owner told people it would pick up once the last 32 that were training on their accounts went to the new account.  Has that still not happened?  If it has, why is there still no work?  If it hasn't, how will it be any better once they move on to the new account if 40-50 new ones are brought on?  The problem will remain the same, will it not?
Quick, the gene pool need a quick Clorox!
Wouldn't do it. That and your SS info, driver's license, etc. Someone can make fake
Could I please get a quick reply to quick hiring???....sm
I cannot find anything here or in archives about Integrity Transcription Service LLC; I was rapidly recruited and offered employment w/o testing, and wonder if there are any MTs here who work/have worked there?  Could you please share here or at my e-mail?  Soooo much appreciated, trying to weed things out!
It was my assumption that there was more than one
Did you try contacting them?  I guess it doesn't matter now since you have already taken a job but I was just curious.
Too much assumption going on here
we're just having a conversation about MT week, what should we ignore it? We are MTs and we're talking about MT week. We're not asking for the world here. I don't understand this underlying hostility re this subject.

Looks like there are more unhappy MDI transcriptionists than you thought! Your assumption that I am JMO is TOTALLY INCORRECT, and Iím not even sure who JMO is.  Nevertheless, I think itís pretty funny how you all actually believe that there are only a handful of transcrptionists who are unhappy with MDI. Maybe MDI should consider the fact that they are NOT so PERFECT after all.

I know, I know, now everyone is going to say "no company is perfect" but believe me when I say on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, they are about a 3.  The only real thing MDI has going for them is the fact that the pay is always on time.

Your wrong assumption
You are assuming I was talking to you?  I was not.  I was not even talking about MDI at all and JMO works for the Transcend side of things.
Wrong assumption
It is a wrong assumption to think that outsourcing medical transcription is more expensive or delivers less quality than in-house transcription.

While we know MTs that work in the hospital setting tend to make a little less, the hospital pays much more for their benefits, their retirement, the space to keep their work, their IT, their systems, their workers compensation, their unemployment, and their education. As a matter of fact, if you ask a typical hospital nonprofessional (and, yes, MTs - we are unfortunately still considered to be in this category) - They still work at the hospital because of the "benefits," which are usually significant.

On average, a medical institution can expect to see a 40% savings to outsource. The benefits don't stop there.

HIPAA issues are significantly easier to deal with. An outsourcing company signs an agreement to keep all the medical records information secure and within HIPAA compliance from start to finish, taking ownership of the responsibility from the hospital for the transcription portion of the medical file. This also decreases not only cost but liability.

The assumption that the medical transcription done from an outsourcing company is not as good is inaccurate as well. Ask any MT recruiter hiring for a full-time acute care position as a home-based MT which one they would hire: An MT who has experience typing for a national for 3 years, or an MT who has been typing at the hospital for 5 years. Of course we know the answer - they'll take both, right! But, if they HAD to pick - It would be the MT who has the 3 years of experience with the national. Why?

Hospital MTs will get better feedback from the physicians, be able to correct the reports to his or her standards, but all in all, at-home MTs have to be more flexible, know more terminology, and are more adaptable. Most at-home MTs are also required to have some kind of acute-care experience or education. Most hospital MTs can be hired without that prior experience.

Regarding fixing our abysmal situation with the lower line rates and lack of professionalism, etc., I am afraid you're looking to the wrong place for salvation, if you're looking to the medical profession, and the associations, and the hospitals to come to your rescue. Unfortunately, most doctors feel like those of us who work at home are barely qualified to help our children with their homework, much less handle anything regarding medical transcription, but rest assured, they feel that way about everyone except themselves. The HIM directors and owners of the hospital care about one thing - their own pocketbook, and how much money they will save. Individually, they can be all be wonderful people. As a group, they are collectively concerned with nothing but saving money to add to their own quarterly bonus. Nurses and paraprofessionals working at the hospital barely understand the concept of outsourcing, how we do our work, and what challenges we face, but understand that they are much more wrapped up in the monumental challenges they face with their own professions, which honestly probably pale to ours.

And, thatís a fact.

Oh no, ASSumption again?? How clever--NOT.
I wish people wouldn't be so encouraging. Then maybe we wouldn't constantly run
At my company I'd ask for $18; probably wouldn't get it, but I wouldn't go lower. nm
The MTs can't get out of there quick enough.
Keep looking!
Don't be too quick..
I know a lot of QA people that are not consistent including the ones that trained me. One person can say one thing in one month, and the same person will say something else the next month. It's not always the MT ya know
Very quick!

RUN - away - quick!
you are just too quick to....
point your finger, AND this is not gossip as I, along with others, went through the same thing. OP was just asking a simple question and your cocky answer was not called for. So I say it again, GROW UP!!
It's all about quick TAT sm
The TATs are tight so the accounts have to be staffed 24/7, and more people are working on the accounts keeping them caught up. The work is steady on my internet account, but it is always very current with very little backlog but the work is there. I've been at MDI for 4 years, cleared for all work types on my accounts, and have 5 accounts I can work on although only consistently work on 2. I have a friend who started recently. On her account, she was not cleared for all work types, and she does have trouble getting her lines. She doesn't want a backup account yet.
Quick, quick
I testing and applied with them and got a phone call from Bonnie Monaco within 2 hours of submitting everything.
Thanks for your quick response!
so dont be so quick to THINK you know
what happened. anyway, don't worry about what I will or will not do.
Thanks for the quick responses! s/m
I can't find anything else at all. Don't know if this would help me gain exp though for medical transcription.

Where is the work at home mom's board???

Thanks again :-)
Transcribe it Quick
I was wondering if anyone had heard back from Transcribe It Quick or has worked for them before.  They posted on the job board on 05/09 for per diem transcriptionists.  I received a phone call from a very nice woman who was the owner of the company.  She told me she wanted to hire me, told me all the specifics, welcomed me to the company, etc. and she even had me register with the site and download their player.  She was supposed to call me back that night, and I haven't heard word one back from her.  It sounded like a great job opportunity with great pay.  I called and left a message on her answering machine and I still haven't heard anything.  I thought it was really strange, and I was wondering if anyone had received a phone call back from her and was offered a job.
Thanx for the quick reply!
Do you want quick or accurate?
Why go to a board like this for a question to do with your company's benefits? Actually, you would probably get a pretty quick answer by e-mailing your HR rep, and it would have a much higher probability of being correct!
Quick Question - sm
Which forum on MTStars is the best one to visit if you're interested in learning about obtaining private accounts - tried-and-true methods, platforms to choose, etc.?  TIA!
quick to defend too
Please, quick info regarding....sm
Medical Transcription Services in Wisconsin -- sent me a letter regarding a new radiology account coming on board, would really love to take it (love rad), but I cannot find much about them AT ALL.  Thanks in advance!
Why are people so quick...
to think that lack of work is the sign that a company is *bad*. There is such a thing as TAT. Anyone in this field knows that at times it is feast or famine. I have no problem making my lines during the pay period, even when volume is low; it's called being flexible with my schedule. I do what I have to do, still have my days off and still make decent paychecks.
thanks, another quick question-
do they supply computer/equipment?
I got a quick response, but
they only had 3rd shift available.  I took a few days and then responded saying that I would be able to work the shift, then the recruiter told me she would contact me to discuss the position.  That was 2 weeks ago, and I still have not heard anything.  I'm also very experienced, with 99.5% QA or better.  Very weird . .
Don't be so quick to doubt

I'm 5 years into my MT career.  I'm 48 and currenly I work an average of 10 hours a day for a popular MTSO.

2 years in house - most I made was was 27K

Last year 6 months in house, 6 months at home - 24k

Next year - 34k

This year 55k!  Do I count on that for next year?  Nope, but I can hope.

Yes, my speed probably is increasing.  Since this industry has a give yourself a raise mindset, that's what some of us do, when we can.

Yes, its awful that many of you made that much in the good old days, and its been reduced.  But as a relative newbie, I have nothing to be bitter about, so I just keep honing my skills and my expanders.

I think a quick email to your STM would be it. sm
That's all I did, said that I intended to work an extra hour each day, although I was usually getting 37 hours a week anyway.
Quick ? Sunshine
Just how strict are they on the 98% and QA submission? I would greatly appreciate any feedback you can give!
Just a quick question please?

I was hoping maybe you could share a little information about the Keystrokes hiring process with me?

I am really hoping to join the Keystrokes team but I am not sure if I should and my emails are not returned.

Many thanks!!

Quick clarification...
A lot of the accounts have the ability to go back to old reports and you pull several lines of information, those lines are paid at a different rate than the lines you actually type. It is basically getting paid for free lines I guess you would say. Nice enough company. Pay normally on time. They bascially leave you alone if you are doing your job.
Yes, yes, and yes. Honeymoon over real quick! nm
That is exactly how quick this company can get people going.
This company truely is one of the best. I feel like I am honestly part of a great family!
I'm a quick study but it was immediate. Its so easy.
can you quick explain "link" to me?
Keystrokes Rad MTs.....quick question...sm
Could you all let us know the per report rate that Keystrokes is offering for their radiology MTs?  I am intersested but don't want to waste anybody's time either.  TIA
It was a very quick little blurp during an interview
and the recruiter said, as we were talking about Medquist - Yeah, Transcend will have its hands full when it picks up Medquist. That'll be soon.

It was the recruiter from OSI. Yes, they tell little fibs, but she also did tell me they outsource a very small percent of their work, and that was true.
Thank you LM for all your quick responses and information!!! NM

oh but they are quick to send an e-mail...
when you get something wrong in the dictation...
Thanks so much for your quick response and advice. sm
It's been a few years since I have had to apply for a new job and wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning or not, or if it would ever be asked. Thanks again!
Oh, LOL. Guess I got defensive too quick :) NM.
